"This is why the American people have thrown you (House Democrats) out of power."

Laura Richardson (R) with her mentor Maxine Waters (L)

Hat tip goes to the Sean Hannity Radio Show, where I first heard  Republican Steve Buyer blast acting Democratic Speaker Congresswoman Laura Richardson (CA-37) for not allowing him to speak on the floor of the U.S. House. See it in the YouTube video below.

Interestingly, Representative Richardson defeated conservative Republican Star Parker, one of my personal and Tea Party supporters favorite candidates this Fall. The foolishness of the people of California for electing and reelecting persons such as Richardson, Jerry Brown, and Barbara Boxer baffles me.

Food ‘Safety” Bill, S 510, Passed by Senate, This is not good!

15 GOP senators help Democrats kill Constitution,” reports Anthony G. Martin on Twitter and on Examiner.com. Martin analyzes the vote and its repercussions.

Martin identifies the culprits, “The GOP Senators who voted in favor of S.510 are:  Alexander (R-TN), Brown (R-MA), Burr (R-NC), Collins (R-ME), Enzi (R-WI), Grassley (R-IA), Gregg (R-NH), Johanns (R-NE), Kirk (R-IL), LeMieau (R-FL), Lugar (R-IN), Murkowski (R-AK), Snowe (R-ME), Vitter (R-LA), and Voinovich (R-OH).” God love those RINOs. I guess many of them did not get the message sent by the voters on November 2nd!

He quotes an excellent summary of the bill, “In a telling overview of the bill provided by Michael Geer at The American Thinker, the writer correctly observes that while there is nothing wrong with attempting to insure the safety of the nation's food supply, this bill is not the vehicle by which to do so. Needless overlapping with a dozen other federal agencies charged with oversight over various aspects of the food supply are inherent in the bill, not to mention the massive power-grab by the FDA to micro-manage the food industry.”

WHAT NEXT?

Martin makes this conclusion regarding the bill, “What are the chances of the bill actually passing through Congress?  At present the bill must go through the reconciliation process with a House version that has already been approved.  Pelosi hints that she may support the House's approval of the Senate version in an effort to beat the deadline of the holiday break, so that the bill can go straight to (Barry Soetoro alias Barack) Obama's desk prior to the end of the 111th lame-duck Congress.”

Hopefully, this bill does not get reconciled this session and must be picked up again in the 112th Congress, where the 6 or 7 new conservative senators will lead the charge toward a smaller, less obtrusive government and bills like this will be aggressively attacked and defeated. I am thoroughly disgusted with the 15 GOP senators who gutlessly voted for this liberty-robbing bill. I especially say good riddance to my Senator and the very RINO George Vionovich

Lame Duck Congress To-Do it to US list, part 2

This is the second of a two-part series discussing some of the bills that will be taken up by the lame duck Congress between now and Christmas. You can review part 1 here.

Here are two more large ticket items that we can expect that this miserable radical-left led 111st Congress will try to pass between now and Christmas:

·                    ·                  The nightmarish DREAM Act rises its ugly head once more. Commenting on this dastardly disguised amnesty legislation, the folks at TeaPartyNation.com wrote in an email to me, “This week shows the utter contempt the liberals in Congress have for the American people.  Despite the fact the American people sent the word back, through the elections, in no uncertain terms, we do not want their agenda; the liberals are dead set on pushing it through in their final gasp.” The obstinate Harry Reid led Senate sometime this week is going to take up the DREAM act again. Once more we must do all we can to stop it.

If you have missed the features of this disastrous bill, they include:

Illegals under 35 (at least for now), can apply for legal status if they have a high school diploma or a GED and have enrolled in an “institution of higher learning.”

They have to only complete “two years” of a program and they have eight years to get that done.

Once they complete this two-year program, then they are eligible for citizenship.

If the illegal cannot complete his two-year program within eight years, they can apply for a waiver if they show their deportation would cause a hardship to a family member, a permanent US resident or to THEMSELVES!

Any information the illegal provides cannot be used against them for deportation proceedings!

Just by APPLYING for the DREAM act, all deportation proceedings are stopped.

Even worse, illegal alien criminals are not excluded from the DREAM act.  They can participate, even if they have committed felonies in America

And once someone is legalized under this measure, they can legalize all the members of their families to come to America.

·                    ·                    S 510, the so-called food safety bill will try to be passed by the Democrat led Congress. This bill is just another grab for power to control the food supply and limit the rights of the people. Like ObamaCare it is an intrusion in an area that may need some reform, but not the massive revamping called for by this bill. It could impact the local farmer’s market or our own vegetable gardens.

Diana Katz on the RepublicanAmerican website wrote, “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., reportedly is pursuing a vote on a massive expansion of food regulation. Proponents contend the very security of America's food supply is at stake. Rhetoric aside, the nation's food supply has never been safer, thanks largely to technological advances and market forces. Consequently, granting vast new powers to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would raise the cost of food without increasing consumer protection.”

I like Katz's conclusion which could sum up much of what will be attempted during this unpleasant present lame duck session of Congress, "The Reid bill clearly contradicts the message sent by voters just three weeks ago: Americans do not want and cannot afford more unnecessary regulation and expansion of government. This proposal constitutes a costly and ineffective answer to a manufactured crisis."

Two Key U.S. House Chairmanships in Play

The results of the 2010 General Election indicate that people want change in how the government operates. The American people repudiated the current regime and the current Congresses’ spending excesses. They racked up such great debts that it will take eons of time to pay them down. Therefore, two of the most important leadership appointments in the new Congress will be filling the positions of chairmanships of twp House of Representative Committees. Those committees are the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Appropriations Committee.

Tonight I listened in on a Tea Party Patriots (TPP) Telephone Town Hall. Two of four nominees for the chairmanship of Energy and Commerce participated. Two of the three nominees for Appropriations participated in the event.

Based on what I heard of each of the nominees and some additional information that was provided about the men concerning their voting records, I would like to see Cliff Stearns (R-FL) be the next chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. I would like to see Jack Kingston (R-GA) serve as the next chairman of the Appropriation Committee. Whoever is selected would  begin working on January 3rd, 2011 when the 112th Congress goes into session.

Both of these committees have a mighty daunting task in front of them, They must in the next six to nine months try to reverse some of the tremendous damage done through massive deficit spending by the current President’s and current Congresses’ destructive, wasteful, and unwise legislation.

Some of the critical points which stood out to in the telephone town hall event was the fact that we have so little time in which to act before the next campaign season swings into high gear. Yes, the cycle starts soon. Our narcissistic President and his Teleprompter are itching to hit the roads. The great campaigner and less than adequate executive/leader hopes to fool large sections of the populace again with his ridiculous rhetoric and ‘yes we can’ showboating.

If the House does its job, then history will remember a one-term president who was grossly in over his head, inept, indecisive, and incompetent. Then the debate will get underway to determine who claims the dishonor of being the worst President ever, Barry Soetoro alias Barack Obama, or the peanut farmer from Georgia, Jimmy Carter.

Enough of the hope, now let’s get into the change.

It was mentioned by Representative Stearns and others that the GOP has been given a second chance by the voters this fall. If they blow it this time it will be over for the GOP for a very long time, and a long time before they get back into power. Many of the 60+ new members will be conservatives, who will reinforce the principled conservatives already serving in Congress on both sides of the aisle.

There is a lot that the Appropriations Committee can do to curb the obese spending of this administration. They must start on day one and never let up. They will probably even have to battle the new House Speaker and other long-time or good old boy entrenched country club Republicans along with the Democrats. We need a strong, principled conservative like Jack Kingston (who by the way received 80% of the vote taken of the Telephone Town Hall attendees who voted for who should be the next chairman of Appropriations after listening to both Kingston and Jerry Lewis (R-CA) present their ideas) to lead this key Committee.

To a large degree Appropriations holds the key to much of the spending that goes on in our government. They can restrict much of the funding of aspects of ObamaCare, EPA, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, etc.   In addition, Appropriations may be able to to bring the epidemic of White House czars under control or make them accountable. They can put a stop to much of the wasteful prolific government grants as well.

Kingston indicated that he would like to see a spending cap put in place similar to the Gramm-Rudman Act passed in the mid 1980s.

This was a very encouraging Town Hall meeting ... Let's see if Congress can get a real grip next year.

Freezing the Pay of Government Workers?

Isn't that what Democrat Representative William 'cold cash' Jefferson of Louisiana, did, by stashing his cash in his freezer? Is that what the President means by freezing the pay of government workers? No, maybe not.

But, why stop at freezing the bloated salaries of the government worker? Why not a serious pay cut across the board, say 20-25% until the budget is balanced. That may be a good start. "Freezing their salaries," when I heard it, caused me to think, "Big deal, is that all you got, Mr. President?" What a sacrifice!

Oh, and Mr. President, what about eliminating 20 or 30 of your unconfirmed, unaccountable czars? That alone would save the taxpayer a cool $3 mill!

Lame Duck Congress To-Do it to US list, part 1

This is the first of a two-part series of bills that will be taken up by the lame duck Congress between now and Christmas.

Here is what we can expect that this miserable radical-left led 111st Congress will do between now and Christmas:

·                    George W. Bush-era tax cuts – Being big government tax & spend proponents this Congress will, at best, extend the Bush tax cuts for 2 more years temporarily. They will make nothing permanent. They will buck and reject all efforts to make the tax cuts permanent. They do not want to turn this spending source cut off. They will grudgingly extend the tax cuts to the ‘rich’ as well as to the rest of us, but without a fight. They will seek some kind of compromise, but the Republicans should not cave. At the very minimum the Republicans should accept only a 2-year extension for everyone.

·                    Temporary spending bill – By Friday, December 3rd Congress must pass some type of spending bill or government shuts down. Let government shut down until the new Congress is in session January 3rd!

I used the FoxNews.com article, “Full Agenda Ahead for Congress During Lame Duck Session,” as the source of some of the facts for this posting.

Obamacare: Healing through Repealing

Hat tip goes to BlackAndRed.blogspot.com which is the source on this  article's title and illustration below.

Quote/Unquote

"If government is to protect, provide, and care for us from the cradle to the grave, then government will decide who is allowed to enter the cradle [Abortion and Embryonic Stem Cell Research funding] and when they shall go to the grave [Euthanasia, Healthcare Rationing, and Death Panels]."
--- Dr. Everett Sileven

Therefore, repealing the health care control bill, or ObamaCare, must be a top priority of Congress beginning in January. The fiscal and structural damage to the health care industry wrought by this regime's socialistic health care control legislation must be reversed and minimized. The so-called Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act must be repealed or at least never funded to any degree by the new 112th Congress.

Sharia Threat is Real, Stop it Now …

'
"Sharia is terrorism!"

I adamantly disagree with Charles C. Haynes of the First Amendment Center, who recently wrote an opinion editorial, “Sharia scare threatens religious freedom,” which I read in my local newspaper, the Mansfield (Ohio) News-Journal on Friday, November 26, 2010. He claims that the overwhelming passage of the constitutional amendment prohibiting application of either Sharia Law or International Law in the state of Oklahoma violates the first amendment. He is wrong. He thinks, “… (P)assing state constitutional amendments stigmatizing a particular religion may violate both the establishment and free-exercise clauses of the First Amendment. On Nov. 8, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking the Oklahoma amendment after a Muslim American filed suit arguing that the amendment would invalidate his will, which he chose to base partially on sharia law. A hearing on a permanent injunction was Monday."

Haynes goes on further to write, "First Amendment separation of church and state (including mosque and state) makes the Oklahoma amendment unnecessary. There is no danger that sharia - or any other religious law - will "take over" or shape final judicial decisions in America. The campaign to outlaw sharia in Oklahoma and elsewhere is fear-mongering at its worst" First, if the Oklahoma Amendment is so unnecessary, why the fuss? Why is C.A.I.R. and its attorneys wanting so badly to block it? Second of all, what Haynes calls "Separation of Church or Mosque and State" has been misinterpreted already by our courts as meaning "Separating God from the State." This was never the intention of the founders. Quite the opposite, God was honored and an integral part of the founding of this nation. Finally, we have some radically activist judges throughout our judicial system who have and will continue to disregard the Constitution and make laws themselves. Don't think some radical judge at any level will not recognize and allow sharia to be applied. We must protect the Constitution from these radical activist judges.

I absolutely concur with the plaintiffs’ attorney in this case, who, “(S)pent six days arguing that Islam was not a religion but a political movement conspiring to replace the Constitution with sharia law. Sharia, he declared, is terrorism. This view insults millions of American Muslims who reject extreme interpretations of sharia applied in places like Saudi Arabia, and practice their faith in ways entirely consistent with American law. If the truth is insulting or if the truth is politically incorrect, so be it. Islam is not only an anti-American political system; it is also a militaristic system, as well as being a so-called religion. It is all three. It is a fabrication and deceitful to consider it just another ‘peaceful’ religion. It is much more than that!

The citizens of Oklahoma should be applauded for recognizing the dual threats of Sharia and International law on the American Constitution and the values and principles of this nation. I encourage Ohio and all other states to follow in the footsteps of Oklahoma in preventing the further infiltration of this deceitful terrorist tactic (Sharia & International law) from trying to transform America

The Whole Armor of God, Part 3

Today I continue my series of articles commenting on the concept and principles involved in the Armor of God, which the apostle Paul described in the New Testament. This is the topic of the Sunday school lesson I am currently teaching.

Getting Ready to Put On the Armor of God

What about you? Are you ready to put on the whole armor of God?

Before you can put on the armor of God you must first take off the works of darkness (Rom 13:12). How is this done?

1. The works of darkness is what you do, think, and say which is contrary to God’s will.

2. If you are unsaved then you must repent of your sins and invite Jesus into your heart. A sample prayer for this is, “Lord Jesus Christ forgive me of my evil and come into my heart.”

3. You must believe correctly who Jesus is:

a. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16).
b. Jesus is both human and divine (Hebrews 1:5, 6, 8; I Timothy 2:5).
c. Jesus was never created but He created all things (Colossians 1:16-17).
d. Jesus was born without sin and never sinned; God as His Father and Mary His mother (Matthew 1:18; Hebrews 4:15).
e. Jesus took your sins and that of the whole world in His own body on the cross (I Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:6).
f. Jesus died on the cross (Matthew 27:50).
g. Jesus was buried (Matthew 27:57-60).
h. Jesus rose from the dead (Matthew 28:5, 60).

4. You must believe you are a sinner in need of a savior and want to be saved (John 7:37, 38).

5. If you are saved then you must repent of your sins and ask God for forgiveness. He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). Memorize a verse or two relating to the particular problem you are facing. David wrote that he hid God’s word in his heart in order that he might not sin against God (Ps. 119:11). You can pray over the verse and ask God for help in obeying His word. You can ask God for deliverance. You can learn to think about God’s word at all times. This brings with it a blessing especially when God’s word is a delight to you (Ps. 1:1-6).

a. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
b. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
c. Psalm 1:1-6
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

6. Remember, this all works by the power of God (Zech. 4:6). The holy writ has contained within it the power of God’s Spirit to bring it about (Isa. 55:11). We are to pray. That is why Paul writes: Praying always with all prayer and supplication (Eph. 6:18).

a. Zechariah 4:6
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
b. Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
c. Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

In II Chronicles 20:1-30 we read of an instance where God intervened on the behalf of Judah when an army of three nations came to invade Judah.

2 Chronicles 20:1-30

1, 2: It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.
3: And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4: And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
5: And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,
6-9: And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend forever? And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
10-12: And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not; Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit. O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
13: And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14: Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
15, 16: And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness
17: Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
18: And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
19: And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
20, 21: And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.
22: And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
23: For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
24: And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
25: And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.
26: And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
27, 28: Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies. And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
29: And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel
30: So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
