Washington Audacity or Idiocy?

I'm puzzled. Why is the U.S. Senate wasting precious time focusing on Gun Control and Amnesty, when it should be coming up with a Budget and working on avoiding another last minute, manufactured, avoidable Debt Ceiling crisis?
 
Where are the leaders?

It has been four years since the last budget has been submitted by the Senate. Harry Reid is not doing his job. Mitch McConnell is allowing him to get away with it. Both the GOP and the Democrats are culpable.

We really need term limits to throw these bums out. They are derelicts. They are spending addicts. They are power hungry, and concerned with one thing, siphoning as many funds for themselves from We The People, the American taxpayers.

Yes, it’s time to throw the bums out again in 2014. The Ray Stevens Video below is a few years old, but it is still applicable to 2013, and more importantly to 2014.

Let’s pass term limits, too…

The bums’ posteriors, which currently amply fill Congressional seats to capacity in Washington, D.C. are refusing to deal with core issues. They like to deal with side issues and want to obfuscate instead of deal with the main problem(s) head on… So, let’s get some new blood – replace the whole lot!

Let’s follow Obama’s “new” Organizing for Anarchy (OFA), the Saul Alinsky model used so successfully by the Left, and the main stream media relentless pursuit as an agenda example.

However, let’s not use the tactics of the Left: perpetual lies, distortions, race-baiting, etc., but let’s learn from them. Instea, let’s use truth, education, and historical foundational principles. Let’s begin recruiting, championing, and campaigning for some real unBoehners, true Conservatives, as well as Conservative ideals and values …

Very Liberal Senator Tom Harkin Retiring, Won't Run in 2014

Best news I heard all week, another ultra liberal United States Senator, Tom Harkin (D-IA), announced today that he will be retiring after his current term. By his own admission, he's been in Washington long enough - 40 years. People like Harkin are posterboys for why we need term-limits...

Like Harkin retirement, I would also like to see Roe-v-Wade and Doe-v-Bolton retired by 2014.


Congressman Steve King (above photo), who currently is representing Iowa's 4th District, would make a great U.S. Senator. He is a social and a fiscal conservative. God knows we need a whole lot more of them in the do-nothing Harry Reid-led Senate, where no budget has been passed for 4 years!

'Satan' Wishes Happy 40th Anniversary, Baby to Roe-v-Wade

I first posted the following on the Cleveland.com Politics Forum this evening.
 
Here is the latest message from Satan to America: "Happy 40th Anniversary, Baby."

Is Satan talking about the dastardly Roe v Wade decision, or is he mocking America for being deceived into allowing the abortion of 55 million babies since that infamous SCOTOS 1973 decision?

Here is one slick, yet extremely sick and tasteless ad placed by the Center for 'Reproductive Rights' which is an obviously Pro-Death leftist organization:



Yes, Roe v. Wade did change history, but for the worse.

Mehcad Brooks, whoever he is, in my estimation plays an excellent Satan in this despicable ad, which 'celebrates' the infamous and fatal (to over 55 million babies) SCOTUS decision 40 years ago.

Satan, or Mr. Brooks, claims to be showing his love for 'reproductive freedom' for ALL women (intentionally not mentioning the mothers choice to murder their children, denying the children THEIR basic God-given right to Life!).

This is a good example of how low our society has sunk, how corrupted our culture has become.

The Haircut and the Politician


Here is a great modern day parable, which I have seen before; it remains relevant for today. I give a hat tip to robnra who posted this today on the www.Cleveland.com Politics Forum online.

THE HAIRCUT

Blessed are those that can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you ' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

The Geneva Bible



Unlike the King James Version of the Bible, the Geneva Bible was not a version produced by the establishment or government of any nation.  I have not examined it yet, but the Geneva Bible is appealing to me because it was translated by Christian who being persecuted for doing so.  This tends to lead me to believe that they were more sincere than the translators of the KJV.  God seems to do his best work when Christians are being persecuted because it is then that they rely most on God.  And from the KJV onward, it seems like the translations become less and less literal with time.  The translators seem to put more of their own ideas and theology into their work as the history of English Bible translating goes forward.  I believe that no translation is perfect, but I tend to trust persecuted Christians over a drunken king and modern scholars with their modern denominational biases.



And by the way, CBD has this Bible cheaper than Kirk Cameron.

RAD is bad part 5


This is series of articles designed to help professing Christians to turn from their wicked ways and get back to following New Testament ethics.  Compromise is increasing in the church.  Popular opinion among churchgoers is often in stark contrast to the very words of Jesus on many issues.  Christians need to know the word of God and get back to using it as a reference book when they are faced with important decisions.

RAD is my acronym for remarriage after divorce This is the fifth article in a sub-series on this topic.  In review I wrote:

1. RAD is sin.  It is the moral equivalent of adultery.
2. There is only one exception given in the Bible.  A divorced man can remarry without sinning only if the reason for the divorce was his wife’s fornication (i.e. it must be a sin of a sexual nature--the NIV incorrectly translates that word as “marital unfaithfulness”). 

These are the scriptures which form the basis for this teaching:

Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:12, Luke 16:18, Romans 7:2-3 and I Corinthians 7:10-11, 39.

This week I will conclude this sub-series by relating my own personal experience with this topic.  I have never been married myself, but once I courted a woman who was twice divorced.  I knew what the Bible said about RADs.  I knew it was wrong.  But I tried to do it anyway because I was an idiot.  I told this woman to read the above Scriptures thinking that there would be Scriptural loophole that she would use to say that it would be OK.  But instead she (rightly) criticized me trying to rationalize something unbiblical.  But sometime later this woman started dating another man and said that it wouldn’t be wrong for her to marry again.  When I heard this, I was really, really hurt.  I have learned my lesson.  I will never court a divorced woman again and I make absolutely no exceptions.  Furthermore, I will not marry a woman unless she is either a virgin or widow who has not had consensual relations with anyone except her husband.  I hope that someone reading this will take heed and the commission of a sin will be avoided.

GRABBING THE GUNS OF THE WRONG PEOPLE

Here is what Don Hazen, Executive Editor of the ultra-liberal online leftist red rag AlterNet, wrote recently to his low information readers (that is if their primary source of information is AlterNet!). The title of his briefing was "America's Gun and Violence Crisis." To the Left, they never want a good crisis go to waste. Sometimes they will even invent one is there isn't one. Here is a paragraph from his briefing that blames the NRA for Sandy Hook.

The NRA Problem
With the mass murders, it is the NRA that is most culpable. The NRA has been transformed from an organization primarily about gun safety to one taken over by gun zealots. The NRA protects the ability of virtually anyone to get their hands on guns, even the most powerful assault weapons like those used in recent killings. This is in stark contrast to the rest of the developed world. For the NRA, "freedom" is now defined as the ability to carry a concealed handgun virtually anyplace.

What about the godless, corrupt secular humanistic (unconstitutional) state religion which has replaced true Judeo-Christian values, virtues, principles and practices in our government schools? Doesn’t the Constitution say something about the government establishing a religion?

What about the unenforced immigration laws and our unsecured borders allowing guns and illegals to enter this country in droves? What about our government's Fast and Furious attempt to besmirch gun as an excuse to control guns. Some of them are even Islamic Terrorists?

What about gangs that roam our streets, who don’t bother registering or obeying existing gun laws, or any other laws for that matter?

What about the foolish bleeding heart liberal idea of sweeping the institutionalized and dangerous mentally ill out of mental hospitals and into our streets free to act out their violent impulses without restraint?

What about the innumerable amount of Hollywood produced films and television programs that glamorize the most vile and violent filth corrupting the minds of teens and adult audiences alike?


What about the music industry’s gangster inspired music that glorifies the violent, perverted nature of man? And what about the radio stations and MTV that proliferate this garbage?

What about corrupting influence of groups and organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) who protect and promote pornographers and other odious elements of society against the upright and righteousness?

Mr. Hazen you blame the NRA? All they want to do is to protect the God-given right each American has to protect themselves with their weapon of choice. Why do you insist on punishing law-abiding citizens while ignoring the real causes? The root causes are: criminal or culture-killing elements like gangs, gangster rap, bloody movies and TV, wrong public policy dealing with the mentally ill, culture corrupters like the ACLU and Freedom from Religion Foundation?

You want to blame the gun, the ‘assault’ rifle, bullets, clips, magazines, but you ignore the real causes.

Gun violence is a huge problem for our society and a top editorial priority for AlterNet.

You say gun violence is a huge problem. It is the person or persons causing the gun violence that is/are the problem. It is the environment, the milieu, the culture. It is not the guns. It will not help by disarming law-abiding citizens, regardless of what their weapon of choice is.

Let’s go after the real culprits: gang-bangers, the gun runners bringing guns and illegals into this country.

We need to revisit public policy toward the mentally ill. We must look up those who would bring harm to others by their demonstrated past actions and bizarre behaviors

Why not tax or fine the movie, video game, TV, music industries, if they continue to insist on producing violence-inspiring products. We have done that to the tobacco industry. Maybe someone ought to bring class action lawsuits against some of these industries. Maybe that would get their attention. Why doesn’t AterNet get behind this movement? Is it because it does not fit with your political agenda?

Leave law-abiding citizens and their guns alone.

Focus on the root causes of problem of gun violence in our society: cultural corruption, the criminal element including illegal aliens, gang-bangers, the truly insane and THEIR guns.

NRA works to "normalize" gun violence by sponsoring and collaborating with the production and marketing of violent video games, which deeply affect children and adolescents.

This is the most absurd thing I have heard lately. Compared to the sheer volume of very violent Hollywood produced movies and video games and the corrupting affect they have on our children and youth, the NRA is not at all a factor.

Mr. Hazen, you want to disarm the very people, law abiding citizens, who need and who would be the first line of defense against the criminal element, be it an individual, a gang, or a government. What a foolish stand you take. Grab the guns of the right people – the criminals, the gangs, the gun-runners…
I would venture to say that tomorrow when President Obama reviews his 19 actions that he could/will take by executive order to deal with the "Gun and Violence" crisis, he will not address ANY of the real or root causes. All he and the Left want is more control...

Support the 'Prioritize Spending Act of 2013' (H.R. 149)

Both H.R. 149, introduced earlier this month in the House of Representative by Representative Daniel Webster of Florida, and a similar bill introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Pat Toomey, are a good first step in the upcoming and newest "DEBT CEILING CRISIS" battle. This idea of prioritizing key government expenditures will force the current regime in Washington to deal once and for all with its long-term, grievious, uncontrolled addiction to spending beyond its means.

Every effort should be made in both the House and Senate to pass this bill. In the likely event that the debt ceiling is not approved at the last minute again, this bill clearly outlines what items should be paid with the funds that come in each month.

Here is a letter I recently wrote to my representative in support of this legislation:


Re: H.R. 149: To specify the priority of the obligations of the United States Government if the debt ceiling is reached.

Dear Representative:

I strongly support Rep. Daniel Webster's bill, H.R. 149, because I do not to see America in the position of having to accept more debt, increasing the Debt Ceiling, without any reductions or curbing of the current spending. I would rather see the government shut down after these priorities are taken care of each month:

(1) Payments of interest owed to creditors

(2) Social Security Payments to Seniors

(3) Payments to Active Military Personnel

Further priorities of remaining funds should be a joint effort of Congress and the President...

We must start to live within our means. The President and Congress REFUSE to address the problem of OVERSPENDING, so something drastic must be done - like saying NO to increasing the debt ceiling without SUBSTANTIAL, CONCURRENT reductions in 2013 SPENDING not the PROMISE of spending reductions on Tuesday, the first week in January in 2023, the next decade!

In addition we must move away from base line budgeting and implement a real across-the-board spending reduction plan such as the Mack Penny Plan, where spending is reduced by 1% each year until the budget is balanced.

We demand that Congress submit and approve a budget before any debt ceiling is even considered!

RAD is bad part 4

2. There is only one exception given in the Bible.  A divorced man can remarry without sinning only if the reason for the divorce was his wife’s fornication (i.e. it must be a sin of a sexual nature--the NIV incorrectly translates that word as “marital unfaithfulness”). 

These are the scriptures which form the basis for this teaching:

Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:12, Luke 16:18, Romans 7:2-3 and I Corinthians 7:10-11, 39.

As I mentioned before, there are many legitimate grounds for divorce such as physical abuse, alcoholism, and abandonment.  But this fact does not mean that it is morally acceptable remarry afterwards.  But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some gray areas on this topic or that the scriptures can’t be legalistically interpreted.  Here are some examples:

1.  What if the (only) ex-spouse of a divorced man or woman dies?  Would it then be acceptable for this divorcee to remarry?  Romans 7:2-3 seems to lean toward saying yes to this, at least in the case of a divorced woman.  But the passages in the gospels and I Corinthians 7:10-11 seem to lean the other way.  It is possible that in this case, the man or woman is classified as a widow or widower and not really a divorcee.  I am not sure about this.

2.  What if a man divorces his wife because he believes that his wife committed fornication, but finds out later that it didn’t really happen?  Would it then be OK for the man to marry another woman anyway?  Where does the burden of proof lie when a man is to claim the exception of Matthew 19:9?  Should the church determine the fact in these cases?  These are hard questions.  I know of a case where, for spite, a woman told her husband that she was having affair with someone but it was a lie.  After the divorce, he found out that it was not true. 

3.  I have deleted this example because I no longer agree with it.

The Fiscal Cliff in Terms of a Family Budget

What household could sustain such irresponsible management of its finances? Then why do we accept such mismanagement by our government?

The simple solution is to cut spending, stop borrowing, and live within our means. For nearly four years the U.S. Senate has refused to submit a budget. They do not want to make the tough decisions that are necessary to balance revenues and expenses, like any credible organization or individual household must.

The President and both political parties in  Congress lack the courage to deal with the problem. They continue to postpone the actions and steps necessary to deal with the problem and avoiding any repercussions that may result from those decisions. They want to maintain their cushy jobs, power, and prestige.

Shop Hobby Lobby Today

I posted the following blurb, which I had received in an email earlier today from patriot Carol K, on the Cleveland.com Politics Forum:

Shop Hobby Lobby Today “It's time to get behind the businesses and corporations that truly stand for family and religious values in America! Don't let the radical Left agenda dictate how America must believe and act! There is a support day today (Jan 5th) at all Hobby Lobby stores. If you can, shop there to support the Green family's stance on Christian values!!”

Here is the audacious, belligerent response that that post elicited from some clown named chopperboy:

Support Right-winged Taliban!  This isn't religious freedom. This is Hobby Lobby telling their employees they must follow their specific brand of religion and belief system. If all their employees really do not believe in using these drugs, then Hobby Lobby shouldn't have any issue with offering them as nobody would ever use them anyhow. Religious Freedom as they are claiming is about CHOICE. Not about somebody cramming their beliefs down your throat.

My retort to chopperboy:

How dare you compare the vicious, murderous Religious-Militaristic-Political Islam-inspired terrorist group with God-fearing, Judeo-Christian principled and values oriented organizations? Not at all.. gayjaye...religious freedom exists for ALL, not just the owners of Hobby Lobby. The funny thing is Hobby Lobby is a corporation, so they are using a corporation to shove their religious views down the throats of their employees. If a Jewish person applied for a job at HL, do you think they would be hired because the owners of HL don't agree with their religious viewpoint?

Oh..and you are a liar also..Like Christians didn't go around killing Muslims for hundreds of years. You are a right-winged POS. And I am NOT even a liberal you moron!

Don't Let the Facts Get in the Way of Your Argument ChopLiver - You are good at name calling, but not so good at getting your facts straight. Besides your statement, “religious freedom exists for ALL….” everything else you write is false.

If keeping their stores closed on Sundays out of religious convictions and not greed, conducting their business and operation based on Judeo-Christian values, including treating their employees fairly is "shoving (Hobby Lobby ownership’s) religious views down the throats of their employees” then they are ‘guilty’ as accused! Hobby Lobby does not discriminate against Jews or anyone else in hiring or treatment...

Christians killing Muslims throughout history has been inconsequential compared to persecution and massive murders of Christians in the name of allah, mohammed and Islam! Maybe centuries ago a few ‘Christians’ may have killed a few Muslims. However, they are not doing that today to any degree whatsoever. However, all over the world Islam-inspired terrorists are killing Christian and other ‘infidels’ as I write this. You make an absurd, unfair comparison. But what do facts or history matter to you.

I think the core issue is does Hobby Lobby, as an employer, have to provide 100% coverage for abortifacient (emergency contraception). Evidently, the employer already covers basic birth control (pills, etc), but doesn't think it should cover the other types of birth control. Note, not providing coverage for such a medication/device doesn't mean that any Hobby Lobby employee cannot USE such a measure, it just won't be covered by the employer's health insurance. So, you can't really claim they are forcing their views onto their employees, rather, they just want a limit on what they 'pay for' for their employees .

Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:12, Luke 16:18, Romans 7:2-3 and I Corinthians 7:10-11, 39.

Now I will debunk some common misconceptions about additional exceptions that some Christian scholars try to argue for.

I don’t believe that you have to search the whole Bible to be sure that a commandment doesn’t have exceptions.

Other than the exception mentioned in Matthew 19:9 (which is mentioned above), I Corinthians 7:15 is the only passage in the New Testament which could possibly be construed as an exception by any stretch of the imagination.  But upon close examination of this passage, you can see that it isn’t.

I don’t believe that “not bound” (NIV or NAS translation) in this passage really means “OK to remarry”.  In Romans 7:2-3 it says that a woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives and if she marries another man while he is still alive, she is an adulteress.  The Greek word for bound (Strong’s # 1210) means legally binding or literally bound as with ropes.  In other words, the word for bound is chosen to indicate that the woman is prohibited from doing something which is in perfect agreement with the context. 

Note also that I Corinthians 7:39 says the same thing as Romans 7:2-3 and uses the same Greek word for bound.  This is important because someone might think that Romans 7:2-3 is just hypothetical because Paul is just using it as an analogy.  But it is clear from the context in I Corinthians 7:39 that Paul is here talking about a real commandment from the Lord which applies to all Christians.

But the word for bound in I Corinthians 7:15 is not the same Greek word.  The word used here means bound to slavery or servitude (Strong’s # 1402).  It is not saying that the deserted spouse is free from the type of bondage mentioned in Romans 7:2-3, but rather it is that he or she is free from the obligation to perform the biblical duties associated with marriage.  Some of these duties are mentioned in this chapter (especially verses 3-5).  The main theme of the chapter is about the pros and cons of getting married and whenever reference is made to a woman considering marriage she is always referred to as a virgin or a widow (e.g. verse 8--It goes without saying that all other women shouldn’t even consider marriage).  There is also a strong implication that I Corinthians 7:15 releases the deserted spouse from his or her obligation to try to keep the marriage alive.  And notice the phrase at the end of the verse: “God has called us to live in peace.”  Certainly someone could live in peace without being remarried, but to have to try to fulfill the obligations of marriage in this situation certainly would rob someone of their peace.  God is not the author of confusion--I Corinthians 7:15 does not contradict or provide an exception to the rule that women can never remarry after divorce.

Some people say that various exceptions come from the Old Testament.  I know of no such exceptions, but I think it is very clear from the teachings of Jesus that even if there was one, it would be superseded by Mark 10:12 and the other similar passages.  Paul said “by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” Galatians 2:16, Acts 13:39.  More specifically, the Pharisees tried to justify their divorces (and by implication remarriages) using the Law of Moses (Matthew 19:7).  The Pharisees were not mistaken about divorce certificates being provided for in the Mosaic Law (Deuteronomy 24:1-4).  But Jesus clearly indicated that fulfilling the requirements of the Law was not good enough (Matthew 5:20, 19:9).  The implication here is that the laws concerning divorce in the Law of Moses were only a type of civil law and were meant to constrain even the wicked (Matthew 19:8), not to be confused with a moral justification of divorce and remarriage.  Jesus clearly holds his followers to a higher standard than the Law of Moses in these passages (Matthew 19:11).  And it is not that Jesus is creating a new teaching or making a new law here, but He is only teaching what was true from the beginning (Matthew 5:17-19, 19:4-6).  Morality did not change from the beginning, only the civil laws changed.  Passages like these and Mark 10:12, Luke 16:18, and Romans 7:2-3 can stand on their own without further interpretation.  The Bible does not contradict itself. 

If you are divorced and you think that you are an exception to the rule--so that you can remarry, you had better be really, really sure.  
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
