The Bridge to Obama's Re-election Hopes

A lot of people have talking about the Brent Spence Bridge and Obama's statements about it.  Since I am a Cincinnatian, I have to weigh in on this.  Read below what both sides are saying.

Statement of Chairman Alex M. Triantafilou, Chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party:

President Obama will visit Ohio today using the Brent Spence bridge as a nice political background for a campaign speech.  The tri-state region is united around the fact that our aging bridge needs to be replaced.  The bridge is important to the economic vitality of this area.  But, the President and his team know that this bridge is years away from completion and has nothing to do with creating jobs.  Today's L.A. Times online said it best: "Obama touts his jobs plan at an Ohio bridge that won't qualify.  President Obama chose this bridge and this location because he recognizes that his political future is bleak and his reelection chances are slim.  He comes to the critical swing state of Ohio to campaign--not to help our region or to create jobs.  As is typical of big spending Democrats, he is dangling the prospect of a shiny new bridge to our community hoping to entice voters.  I believe the voters of Southwest Ohio will see clear through this political stunt.  President Obama should stop the campaign and return to Washington and begin serious discussions with Congress to rectify the serious fiscal challenges our nation faces."

He praises Obama for his visit to the Brent Spence Bridge in Cincinnati and his proposal to spend $50 billion in taxpayer's money to repair it.  He calls the bridge "functionally obsolete".  He thinks that this will create "hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country".  But, he claims, that Boehner, Chabot, and Schmidt are against allowing the good American people to have these jobs.  He accuses them of being in favor of "millionaire tax giveaways".

Here is my take:

I wonder how many jobs were lost because many critical shipments were delayed when Obama tied up traffic with his pointless visit to my city.  I don't agree with the assessment that our bridge needs to replaced.  Yes, it does need a lot of repairs and maintainance, but I just don't see wasting so much money tearing it down and rebuilding it.  This would take years and years to complete and it would be a long, long, time before any real economic benefit would be realized.  As for Obama's motives, I will not judge and don't know what is going through his mind, but his actions will not accomplish anything good.  But I also agree with Brian that our Republican congressman also are willing to run over the poor and middle class to pay off their rich buddies.  Two of out three of them voted for the bailouts.  Two out of three of them voted for the Smith-Leahy America Invents Act which takes away inventors' rights and unconstitutionally gives them to "the first to file".  The list goes on and on, but roughly two out three Democrats, including Obama, voted for these same "giveaways".  All this partisan finger pointing is as pointless as Obama's visit to Cincinnati.  People need to see that its not about Republicans against Democrats, but is us (the taxpayers) against them (the politicians of both parties, except for a few like Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Walter Jones).

The Responsibility of the Electorate in the Coming 2012 Elections

As usual, in the campaign for President, many candidates (especially those who have been or are currently the governor of a state) are saying that they created jobs or improved the economy in their state.  Some of them have attended various political/spiritual "rallies" in which they said many spiritual words to appeal to Christians.  But I hope that Americans, and especially Christians, will see through these deceptions.

When a candidate claims that he improved the economy or created jobs, you should ask yourself several questions.  Is the candidate really the person responsible for the supposed increase in jobs or improvement in the economy or test scores of elementary school students? Sometimes states thrive despite a poor governor because they have a good legislature, good local government, or other reasons.  Do these statistics show the whole picture or are they just one positive outcome among many negatives?  Politicians are eager to take the credit for anything good, but hardly ever take the blame for something that goes wrong.  They blame their opponents for bad economic indicators even when the opponent did not have anything to do with it.  Sometimes things happen which no one in that position could have prevented.  Sometimes a candidate will accuse his opponent of doing the very same thing that he himself is doing.  Are the statistics even true or are they complete fabrications?  Politifac.com, for example, is an organization which exposes such lies all the time.  Sometimes supposed positive results from a particular policy are only temporary.  You can create jobs with an economic stimulus packages, but will such jobs last?  Economic growth indicators are much too complex to be attributed to single policy or particular individual.

Candidates who say all the right things but do not do what they say should be exposed.  You can say the most wonderful prayers, quote scriptures, and say how much you love the Lord and so on.  You can answer all of the candidate survey questions the way that your targeted demographic would want you to.  But if this is not backed up your actions, it means nothing.

This election season, the voters need to do three things in order to turn this country around.  If you don't do these three things, you would be better off not voting at all.

1.  Read the Bible and the Constitution.  No, don't just read them, STUDY them.  The Bible contains the answers to many of our political problems. God's word contains much more wisdom and sound advice than what you can get from any cost-benefit analysis or economist's forecast.  Be open-minded when you read it.  Very few politicians know anything about the Constitution.  If you read it thoroughly and carefully, you will be able to know when they are lying about it.
2. Examine carefully each candidate's actions (voting record, the bills that they have sponsored, and other actions taken in their official position).  Don't pay any attention to unsubstantiated rumors and don't believe the candidate just because they say they voted for something or that their opponent supported some position.  LOOK IT UP YOURSELF.  Most candidates who claim to be pro-life have voted for abortion funding and/or funding for abortion providers.
3. Above all, pray that God's will would be done.  It might not be God's will that our nation gets out of its slump.  God may be dealing with us in ways we don't understand.  Praying for the economy or more jobs is a somewhat selfish and short-sighted prayer.  Pray instead that God would change our hearts and that our nation would be conformed to his will.  Pray that justice and righteousness would be done in our land.  Pray that God would rid you of any false preconceived ideas as you are reading the Bible and the Constitution.  Then the blessings will follow.

2010 Election: A Correction in Direction

Here are recent comments made by U.S. Representative Cathy Morris Rodgers (WA-5^th) on the “success” of all the government bailouts to date. Her words were captured on a short YouTube video. The video is a nice summary of the failures of the Bailout approach to fixing the economy. Hat tip goes to the http://www.ValuesVoterNews.com/ where I found this pertinent and informative expose.

All across America, people are looking to Congress and the White House and asking the same question: "Is anybody listening?"

The American people said "No" to wasteful government spending.

What did we get? An $800 billion stimulus bill.

What were the results? 3.3 million private sector jobs were lost.

The American people said "No" to a government-takeover of health care.

What did we get? A trillion-dollar takeover of America's health care system.

What have been the results? Right now, 1.6 million jobs are at risk because of government-imposed mandates.

The American people said "No" to more government bailouts.

What did we get? A $50 billion bailout of Greece and the European Union.

What have been the results? We're about to find out.

Republicans in Congress are listening to the people.

We are saying "No" to wasteful spending.

We are saying "Repeal and Replace" the Obama health care bill, and we are saying "Never Again" to more Wall Street bailouts.

President Obama and Speaker Pelosi are taking American in the wrong direction.

By listening to the people, we can get American moving in the right direction.

To renew the American Dream, we need new ideas and common sense.

There is nothing wrong with the American government that can't be cured by the wisdom of the American people.

And if we empower the people -- and reduce the power of Government -- America's best days will be ahead of us.

President Obama and the Big Lie

Adolph Hitler wrote in his book, Mein Kampf (My Struggle), that if a person tells a lie that is so big people would think no one would have the audacity to tell such a lie and repeat it often enough people would believe it. Rush Limbaugh pointed this out on the radio a couple days ago, although I have heard it referred to elsewhere. One may wonder what big lies the president has been telling. I will discuss three examples of the bigger lies that the President has been perpetuating.

NATIONALIZING MEDICINE

President Obama wants single payer health care for the citizens of the United States. He says government run health care will bring down the cost of health care, provide competition to the insurance companies, and provide services to everyone. The experience of those who have government run health care as in Canada, Great Britain, France, and others is that it leads to the rationing of care for most people, lack of care, increased costs, and a deterioration of the excellence of care with a withdrawal of research for finding new and improved methods of treating illnesses. Obama is clearly lying to the American people.

GLOBAL WARMING

President Obama wants to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide and raise taxes from power plants, industry, and automobiles. This is to prevent the planet from warming due to heat reflected back to earth by a canopy of carbon dioxide surrounding the earth. Since carbon dioxide is heavier than air it will settle to the ground and not form a canopy around the earth. The so-called scientists who perpetuated this hoax of global warming by CO2 gas have even confessed to distorting the facts and leaving out relevant data and forcing the results desired. Still Obama insists this is good science and wants to increase taxes and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide.

EMPLOYMENT

President Obama promised that if the Stimulus Package passed in Congress the jobless rate wouldn’t exceed 8%. The Stimulus Bill was passed and the jobless rate is close to 17% if you consider all those without a job. Officially, they say 10%, but they don’t count the people who haven’t found work for a while and have dropped out of the system.

In the meantime, Obama spends money we don’t have and creates no new long-term permanent jobs. His policies are working to destroy the country. Persons in the government have told Rush Limbaugh that they are "managing over the decline of the United States of America."

HANDLING THE TRUTH

President Obama shows a total disregard for the truth with no knowledge or understanding of God or His word (The Holy Bible) and is, therefore, not concerned about the salvation of any people’s lives contrary to God’s word.

If you want to do God’s will by acting according to God’s word, but have not personally been born-again or made a commitment to the God of the Judeo-Christian Bible, then you must begin by repenting of your sins and inviting Jesus into your heart. This brings salvation from the consequences of your sins (Luke 24:46-48). When Jesus comes into your heart, you are saved, forgiven, made a new creature by the Holy Spirit, given eternal life and that makes you a Christian (Revelation 3:20; II Corinthians 5:17; I John 5:10-12; Romans 8:9).

A sample prayer to bring about this new life is: “Lord Jesus Christ come into my heart and forgive me of my sins.” The alternative is to perish, which is to be tormented endlessly by fire.
