Where Did The GOP Go?

Neither was it surprising, nor was it uncharacteristic of the current Congressional Republican leadership, yet, frankly I was incensed when I saw a www.TheHill.com article on Facebook Tuesday.  That article, "McConnell: Defunding Planned Parenthood must wait for new president," indicates exactly what is wrong with majority party that cowers in Congress today.

My immediate response was to tweet the following:

Is this stupidity, ineptness, fecklessness, cowardice, ignorance or laziness? It has me just baffled. [The GOP has] 2/3s control of the government, then this! Outrageous!

Mere words cannot describe the sheer futility of the situation. However, it helps to explain the phenomenal rise in the popularity and polls of the egotistical showman and undocumented Democrat Donald Trump. Trump has tapped into the utter frustration of the people who had worked so hard to elect Republican majorities in the House and Senate in 2010 and 2014.

We had expected some fight from the GOP.  Unfortunately, there has been little push back against the Presidents poisonous Progressive agenda. In fact, it seems that Mr. Boehner, the alleged ('and soon to be contested) Speaker of the House, and Mr. McConnell, the so-called Majority "Leader" are usually found on the Democrat side of the aisle contending against the more conservative elements of their own party on most major policy issues of concern to the majority of Americans (ObamaCare, Amnesty, Education, Spending, etc).

Who's in Charge?

The Washington cartel of entrenched politicians and lobbyists who hold sway over them, the status quo, a tyrannical President and an out-of-bounds U.S. Supreme Court seem to be vying for power, control and are leading the (wrong)way. Everyone seems to be putting the Constitution aside and ignoring the laws of the land if it doesn't fit their political agenda despite what the people care about, not to mention trashing the well-established traditions and values that made America exceptional.   

Is There a Solution?

A good dose of courage and backbone may be the recommended treatment for Executive Domination (E.D.) which plagues the party of Lincoln's leaders. If Boehner and McConnell can't or won't respond to treatment ordered, then they must step aside and allow others to do the job. Strong leadership is required to hold back the flood of disastrous plans, policies and spending of the current occupier of the White House and his accomplices in Congress and government agencies and offices.

The current GOP leadership has put party and the preservation of power solidly ahead of principle and what is good for all of America. This is why even someone like Trump has captured the imagination or pure disgust of a great block of the electorate. The GOP needs to stand like the Democrats did when they believed in the very flawed ObamaCare and even sacrificed their majority to gain this key pillar of their socialist agenda.

The GOP must resist at all costs allowing anymore federal funding for Planned Parenthood going into the new year starting in October. They need to resist the temptation to restore the Export-Import Bank. They need to resist SCOTUS' redefining of marriage. They need to resist with everything they have to thwart the Iran Nuclear Deal.

Why I No Longer Support the RNSC Candidates

Ironically, as I finished writing this blog tonight I received an email from the Republican National Senatorial Committee (RNSC), which wrote in part, "According to our records, it has been over a year since you last made an online contribution to the NRSC supporting our Republican senators." They asked me to complete the following survey, which I did:

Urge John Boehner and Mitch McConnell to resign their positions and find people who will follow the Republican platform faithfully, who will provide leadership, and who will stand up to and resist the current occupier of the White House. I will only contribute to and support Senate Conservative Fund candidates and directly contribute and support true conservative candidates' campaigns. 

Here's What Feckless Unprincipled Leadership Looks Like

IGNORING THE OUTRAGE

U.S. Senate Majority "Leader" Senator Mitch McConnell (RINO-KY) is ignoring the outrage of both Pro-Life and Pro-Abortion individuals around the nation, who were both concerned about the recent investigative reports about the variety of Planned ParentHOOD exposed atrocities. Or maybe he is willfully blinded to the inhumanity, the horror, the misbehavior, the wanton evil that is Planned ParentHOOD. This evening he joined with radical defenders of the indefensible, the likes of Senator Sherrod Brown (Radical Liberal-OH) and voted NO on the defunding  of Planned ParentHOOD.

The final vote was 53 YES and 46 NO. The bill needed 60 votes to pass.

OUT OF TOUCH, OR JUST TOUCHED

This vote seems to me to be just another indication that both the Senate and the House need new GOP leadership. The current GOP "leadership" is less than ineffective. They continue to drop the ball on seemingly every issue that conservatives and Republicans fought so hard for in recent elections to gain majority status. Looking purely at the results since the GOP has gained control of both houses of Congress, San Fran Nancy Pelosi and Dirty Harry Reid still are very much in charge and call all the shots, forwarding the President's destructive progressive agenda.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED

We still have fully-funded and expanding ObamaCare. The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act wallows in the Senate. John Boehner dismissed the House for an much undeserved summer recess before addressing the defunding of the lawless and inhumane Planned Parenthood chamber of horrors. Same with the Senate, where McConnell apparently wanted to avoid confrontation by attaching an amendment to defund Planned Parenthood to the must-pass highway bill and allowed a nearly meaningless stand-alone bill to defund Planned ParentHOOD. This is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

The rallying cry of the GOP seems to be, "Keep the status quo at whatever it costs." The cost may be money or principle.

MITCH, the GOP Senate Majority Leader covers his eyes, refusing to see any evil that Planned Parenthood does and refusing to see that the best chance to defund it was last Sunday when defunding PP could have been attached as an amendment to the Highway bill; and

 

crying JOHN, the current (hopefully not for long) Speaker of the House covers his mouth, he speaks nothing as far as insisting that a vote be taken to immediately declare a moratorium on all funding to the evil Planned ParentHOOD enterprise before the summer House recess. Maybe he doesn't act on defunding because the sister of his health policy director is married to the founder of StemExpress, one of the main customers of PP's baby parts business.

Disturbed, Disgusted, and Disappointed with Betrayal of Mitch McConnell and John Boehner on Executive Amnesty Funding!

Words cannot express the depth of disappointment and disgust I feel toward the most recent sellout by the GOP leadership to the Republican elites and Chamber of Commerce types and the perverse "progressive" agenda of President Obama and his comrades in Congress. I really can't say I am shocked. Boehner and McConnell mouth a good line, but when push comes to show they quit, give up, acquiesce... they lie, they betray both conservative and Republican principles and the voters who elected them to office. 

 

If the GOP will not stand against the blatant affront to the constitution and the separation of powers by this lame duck leftist President on this matter of executive overreach on amnesty, where and when will they stand?

Consequences for Republican Betrayal

 

Far Exceed Consequences of any DHS "Shutdown"

 

Mogadore, Ohio - The Portage County TEA Party Executive Director, Tom Zawistowski, made clear today that the consequences for the Republican betrayal in the Senate will far exceed the consequences of any DHS "Shutdown".  Zawistowski explained, "Senator McConnell and his ilk in the Senate need to clearly understand that the betrayal of all of their campaign promises, the betrayal of the very Oath of Office he himself swore just weeks ago to defend the Constitution, and the betrayal of the base of the Republican Party by allowing 5.5 million illegal non-citizens to acquire social security numbers and drivers licenses so that they can vote Democrat in coming elections, will result in the loss of the Senate and the White House in 2016. Their refusal to fight and win on DHS only provides further proof that they lied to the voters in 2014. Millions of Republican's and conservatives will no longer be played for fools by voting for liars and hypocrites. Romney did not win Ohio because hundreds of thousands of Ohio conservatives stayed home in 2012. Senator Rob Portman and the Republican presidential nominee can expect an even larger shunning by conservative Ohio voters in 2016. The unprincipled and cowardly actions of liberal RINO's like John McCain are an insult to any voter that calls themselves a Republican."

 

Zawistowski concluded by saying, "Let's also stop insulting the intelligence of Republican voters. The result of the supposed "Government Shutdown" in 2013 was a LANDSLIDE victory by Republicans in 2014. Claims to the contrary are contrived inside the beltway fiction. The result of the Senate not having the courage of a Ted Cruz on the DHS bill will be exactly the opposite, a LANDSLIDE victory for the Democrats in 2016.  The only reason the RINO's in the Senate don't want a shutdown is because it will work and they don't want it to work. The don’t want to protect American jobs. They don't care about the black Americans and legal hispanic Americans who will lose work to these illegals. They don’t want to live up to their campaign promises to voters in their states. They want illegal immigration to placate their big monied Chamber of Commerce masters and their actions prove it. Boehner's Big Business Buddies Get Their CRap-Filled, CRiminal-Amnestying CRomnibus Bill

Here is a good analysis by Chris Chmielenski of NumbersUSA.com of the whys, whats, and wherefores that went into the passage of the CRap-filled CRiminal-Amnestying  CRomnibus Bill.  The GOP establishment's (Gang's) Enforcer, Speaker John Boehner, figuratively either threaten to break the knee caps of his party members who would not vote for this bill or maybe he just bribed them in order to pass his precious Amnesty to placate his big business buddies. Below, I highlighted a few of the main points of Chris' commentary on the CRomnibus surrender...

 

What is so sickening about this CRomnibus Bill is that it does nothing to oppose the Affordable Care Act, nor does it curtail spending. It essentially blesses the radical Mr. Obama's Progressive Agenda and the unprincipled Boehner's beloved status quo. It surrenders the only real strategic advantage (power of the purse) that the GOP had to this out-of-control would-be tyrant.  Now he has free reign to implement these two destructive measures. In addition the bill is laden with pork of all sorts. Power does corrupt, here is an excellent example. 

Yesterday's news reports confirmed what we heard all afternoon from NumbersUSA members -- anti-amnesty activists flooded the Capitol's phone lines, resulting in a switchboard meltdown late in the day.

But in the end, no level of activism could overcome the shady, backroom dealing that took place last night in the House of Representatives allowing a $1.1 trillion spending bill that fully funds Obama's amnesty to limp across the finish line with bipartisan support.

When the dust settled, 67 House Republicans bucked their Party Leaders and Big Business by opposing the bill. That's a little more than one-fourth of House Republicans who stood on the side of jobless Americans and wage-earners who have suffered from stagnant wages for more than a decade.

As for the 162 Republicans and 57 Democrats who chose Corporate America and illegal aliens over middle-class workers, NumbersUSA will treat their votes as a vote for amnesty as we had promised all week.

NumbersUSA President Roy Beck said, "NumbersUSA will soon go to our network of citizens requesting new actions to overturn the Obama amnesty in the next Congress. Despite the setback in the House this week, the massive citizen pressure has forced a lot of promises from this week's "yes" voters to battle the amnesty in another form in the new year. We must do all we can to shame these U.S. Representatives into keeping their anti-amnesty promises THIS time."

HOUSE SHENANIGANS

Yesterday's floor action started with a procedural vote that would establish the rules for debate of the CRomniubs spending bill. The House Rules Committee met the night before and decided to block all amendments, including one offered by Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) that would have defunded Obama's amnesty.

Votes on rules typically pass with little fanfare and along party-lines, but yesterday's vote kicked off a tense afternoon on the House floor. Seventeen Republicans were prepared to vote against the rule, and by the time allotted for the vote had expired, it appeared the rule was going to be defeated, killing the massive spending bill. But GOP Leadership was able to convince two Republicans -- lame-duck Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan and Rep. Marlin Stutzman of Indiana -- to change their votes, and the rule narrowly passed, 214-to-212.

Approval of the rule kicked off about two-hours of debate. Appropriators from both parties marched to the podium asking for passage of the bill, but the mood began to change when Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi delivered a passionate floor speech against the bill. Her reasons, obviously, had nothing to do with defunding Obama's amnesty, but it was becoming more clear that the bill's fate was in trouble with mass defections among House Republicans who wanted defunding language in the bill, and Pelosi's call to Democrats to vote 'NO'.

When the debate time expired, House Leaders were expected to proceed with final passage, but instead put the House in recess indefinitely. It became evident that they didn't have enough votes to pass the bill.

For the next 6 hours, reports detailed all sorts of back-room dealings. A few reports said that Rep. Stutzman had agreed to change his 'NO' vote on the rule in exchange for Leadership pulling the bill and replacing it with a short-term continuing resolution.

Meanwhile, on the Democratic side of the aisle, Pelosi urged her Members not to give in and lose their leverage in the House, while Pres. Obama, Vice Pres. Biden, and cabinet members urged Democrats to support the bill.

Around 9 p.m., we learned that House Leaders would finally hold a vote on the bill, and if it didn't pass, they'd replace it with a short-term continuing resolution. But Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and GOP Whip Steve Scalise were able to twist just enough arms and offer just enough future "promises" to garner enough GOP support for the bill. It passed with a 219-to-206 margin.

WHAT NOW?

The CRomnibus spending bill now moves to the Senate where it will likely have to clear several procedural hurdles and opposition from both sides of the aisle. Anti-amnesty champions, Senators Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Ted Cruz of Texas, and Mike Lee of Utah will continue to persuade Republicans to kill the bill or insist on a provision that defunds Obama's amnesty.

In the House, moments after the vote closed, Boehner sent the following Tweet:

[B]y the House's action, we are setting up a direct challenge to the president's unilateral actions on immigration next month, when there will be new Republican majorities in both chambers.

It's difficult to believe that the man who just worked so hard to keep Obama's amnesty funded will do anything significant to stop the action, but voters can continue to pressure Republicans and their Leadership to keep their promise to mid-term voters and do everything they can to defund the President's action.

As Roy mentioned, your tremendous show of activism these last two weeks sent a clear message to all legislators that they will be watched in the next Congress, and we will hold them to their promises to defund in 2015. Should the Senate pass the House bill, the fight begins again in just a few months when the short-term funding for the Department of Homeland Security expires.

I'd like to extend a sincere thanks to all the NumbersUSA activists who took action over the last month. During this busy holiday season, I know it's not easy to set aside a few minutes each day to call Congress and send faxes, but your efforts were tremendous. The GOP Can Now Only Be Described As A Team of Looters!

Today the U.S. House of Representative under the ever compromising and traitorous eye of its inglorious Speaker John Boehner introduced a horrible bill that aims to continue to fund this obese and growing government colossus set on advancing radical leftist policies.

John Boehner: No ripple but Ripple?

Come hell or high water Speaker John Boehner is determined not to cause a ripple of resistance to the Progressive tide that is the scandal plagued Obama Administration’s agenda! Is the only ripple John knows is the kind that comes in a bottle?

Seriously, why are the Republicans betraying those who helped them win election after election not even two months ago? Are they so drunk with power now they can do whatsoever their spending-addicted little hearts desire? Why are they so easily surrendering to, and compromising with the Democrat Party elitists, who consist of radicalized ideologues like Obama? What does the GOP stand for now, besides using the power they deceptively gained and going all out to preserve the status quo? John Boehner, his RINO disciples and his gal pal San-Fran Nan Pelosi don’t give a Red Rip or a plug nickel about what the American people want, need, think, or desire.

So what does the latest spending bill offered by the Republicans do?

·         Pages 958 and 959 of the 1,603-page omnibus spending bill from House Speaker John Boehner include a provision that gives Social Security benefits to illegal aliens under President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty. Read more here.

·         Fully funds departments helping those illegally crossing our borders. $948 million for HHS illegal immigrant assistance, for example. An increase of $80 million. Another $14 million goes to schools taking in illegal immigrants and State Department gets $260 million to assist central American countries where the illegals are invading from. 

·         Fully funds ObamaCare.

·         Funds a pork project for ousted Republican Eric Cantor. 

·         You like your mail on Saturdays? You'll keep your mail on Saturdays. The bill requires the mail service to continue six-day deliveries, despite a years-long attempt to cut back on service to save money. Confronting Obamagration Head On (Not)

It appears to me that the GOP leadership in the House of Representative led by its Speaker, the blowhard blustering Boehner, has already conceded having any kind of significant opposition to the President in regard to his illegal and unconstitutional executive pardoning or amnestying of millions of illegal aliens.  Apparently the voice of the corporate cronies of the GOP sitting in the Chamber of Commerce is louder and holds more sway with the inner circles of the GOP than does the voice of the American people!

It never ceases to amaze me that We the People continually get double-crossed by these fake election-time conservatives. These politicians hiding their real selves in their Washington backroom cocoons and like butterflies, emerge after elections morphing into pretty moderate do-nothings holding tightly to the status quo as they assume or resume power. It’s shameful.  You come to expect the lies and deceit from the Democrat Party, but the GOP, especially the country-club elite set, is vying for the honor of being the most disingenuous.

There was a vote in the House last week, which stated the objections of the Republicans to the Presidents executive amnesty order. The “powerful” condemnation was absolutely meaningless without the intent to immediately stop ANY and ALL funding for the President's illegal and unconstitutional executive amnesty order, which unilaterally changes the Federal immigration laws with no input from Congress.

The GOP seems to want Amnesty to placate their big business backers. The Democrats want amnesty to soothe its base and to eventually gather more voters. Essentially the GOP is voting to accept the President’s amnesty all the while pretending to be opposed. The key word here is pretending! Neither party seems at all concerned about what the American people want, which is no amnesty for illegal aliens!

Obama's Illegal and Unconstitutional Executive Amnesty for Illegal Aliens, Who Cares?

The Conservative Tribune had an article entitled, BREAKING: House Successfully Makes Massive Move Against Obama, documenting today's simply symbolic vote by the House of Representatives to essentially slap the wrists of the President for his massively illegal and unconstitutional executive amnesty decree. Its like telling Jeffrey Dahmer, you did wrong and we know it, but we will let you go free! Pitiful.

This symbolic vote, like so many passed by Speaker Boehner led House is absolutely meaningless without immediately stopping ANY and ALL funding for the President's illegal and unconstitutional executive amnesty order which unilaterally changes the Federal immigration laws. This vote serves as a smokescreen or cover for the real intent of the Republicans hierarchy. The GOP wants Amnesty in order to placate their big business backer buddies. The Democrats want amnesty to placate its base and to eventually attract more voters. Neither party seems at all concerned about what the American people want, which is no amnesty for illegal aliens!

Conservati​ve Wins Major Upset Election!

The people of America and of Virginia are fed up with politicians like Eric Cantor and John Boehner and Mitch McConnell.  These top three so-called Republican leaders have demonstrated over the past 5+ years that they simply adhere to a position where politics and power are much more important than principle. Finally, finally someone sent one of the GOP leaders the message via the ballot box. Little known challenger Dave Brat soundly delivered the message to Eric Cantor tonight in the 7^th Congressional District in Virginia.

Let us hope that the hitherto wayward GOP wakes up and begins to stand on the principles that got it control of the House of Representatives in 2010 and a few more good conservatives in the Senate in 2012.  The GOP elite must be shaken in their $500 boots tonight. Senator Thad Cochran we will sure be glad to see you go the way of Eric Cantor in the next few weeks, too.

This TEA party victory has encouraged and energized me. I hope all conservatives and freedom loving patriots will take this win as a cue to do more to get TRUE conservatives elected in both the House and the Senate. Throw the RINOs and other bums out!

One of the positive outcomes of this huge conservative victory is that the House Speakership may not remain in the hands of another RINO, John Boehner! This would be a positive move.  Someone like Trey Gowdy or Jim Jordan would provide the leadership that has been missing among House Republicans for a very long time.

This billboard is located in Senator Rubio's home state, Florida. What a disappointment he, Rep. Paul Ryan and Speaker John Boehner are on this key issue. Now is not the time to increase our deficit and debt in the hope of cashing in politically on the hope of future voters at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Will Boehner Fully Capitulate by 12/31/2012 to Obama?

Unfortunately, Speaker John Boehner is not now a leader of the Conservative Movement, if, in fact, he ever was.

He is a hopeless, hapless RINO. He is a shill for the East Coast country club Republican elites. Time after time, he and the GOP use Conservatives and Tea Party participants at election time to win elections under false premises.

In 2010 they used us to get to the majority in the House.

Once power was secured, Boehner abandoned principle for power and politics. Despite whatever glossy, patriotic, conservative terminology and rhetoric he may misuse in his bombastic speeches before Congress or the Media’s microphones. You can count on Boehner putting Boehner and his party first, America be damned.

Frustratingly, he seemingly acts like a virtual wimp in the presence of the President, yielding like a whipped pup to the President's every demand.

The bottom line is, if Boehner completely caves, as he is expected to do, he must be replaced by a real conservative and leader before it is everlastingly too late. Someone like former Presidential candidate and Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann, who does have a backbone, would nicely and precisely fit the bill.

Or even my current representative in the House, Jim Jordan, who has impeccable Conservative credentials and record, would equally make an outstanding Speaker.

We need someone who will figuratively counteract the Nancy Pelosis, on both side of the aisle in Congress, punch for punch…

Neither of the above mentioned Speaker-replacements would so easily surrender to the ‘transformation-minded’ President and equally treasonous Democrats in Congress. They would deal with the real problem of America, turning off the spending spigot of the current regime in Washington!

No Good Choice Here

#IStandWithWalker is a key Twitter hashtag these days. It says it all. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker valiantly withstood a vicious attack from Leftist elements in Wisconsin and from across America. Union thugs, voter fraud, and the occupy movement sought to cut him down. However, he lives to govern at least another year and a half.

The battle in Wisconsin is emblematic of fights that must be fought in other state races. The fight is between a conservative philosophy and a socialist philosophy. This battle is peeking as the nation totters on the brink of financial collapse thanks to the incompetence of the leaders of both major parties. We the People spoke in Wisconsin. They must speak louder and louder across the rest of the country this fall.

We need a conservative congress to offset whichever liberal President is elected this fall. Both men are bad choices. There is no lesser of two evils. One man is openly liberal, while the other is a deceitful closet liberal hiding his liberality in order to get the nomination of his party. Unfortunately, I personally will be voting against President Obama and not necessarily for anyone.

 Where the hope is is in the Congress. To elect enough conservative in order to oust the current GOP leaders, Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell should be the goal. This is where conservatives and Christians should devote all of their resources - the election of true conservative to Congress.
