Late Night Laughs – This Week in Politics

The jokes that follow are courtesy of Newsmax.com which periodically sends out email compilations of jokes from the various late night TV talk shows, few of them are worth repeating . . . these were the exceptions. This current batch of funny monologues all center around the Republican candidates’ campaigns.

Conan
· Donald Trump’s campaign manager is facing charges for grabbing a female reporter’s arm. Trump scolded his campaign manager and said, "On my campaign we only abuse women verbally."
Late Night With Seth Meyers
· Donald Trump in a new interview supported the idea of holding back attacks on the wives and children of rival candidates, before adding, “All you have to do is tell that to Ted Cruz because he started it.” Trump then added, “I’m not touching him! I’m not touching him! I’m not touching him!”
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
· According to the State Department, virtually every foreign leader who meets with Secretary of State John Kerry has expressed concern about the Republican presidential primary election. There's no need to be concerned. It's silly. Once President Trump builds a wall around your country, you'll never see us again.
· According to a new NBC News poll, Donald Trump now has support from 48 percent of Republican voters. All the men and none of the wives.
· John Kasich is in third with 18 percent, but he says he won't give up. He's vowed to keep running. He's going to keep running until one person in America can identify him by face and then he will stop

Just today Donald Trump put his foot in his mouth saying that women who get abortions should be punished.  The man has demonstrated a thorough lack of knowledge of the issues facing America. He has a shallow and limited knowledge, just enough to make him dangerous.

I love the twitter hashtag, #HeStartedIt. It reflects MSNBC’s Anderson Cooper’s comment on Trump’s response to the revealing pix of Trump’s wife posted in a tweet by an Anti-Trump PAC. In apparent retaliation, Trump’s posted an uncomplimentary picture of Heidi Cruz and a glamorous photo of his own wife. Cooper told Trump that he sounded like a 5th grader.  Trump becomes less and less desirable as a Presidential candidate with each passing day.

Ben Carson for Republican President Nomination

Donald Trump gave campaign contributions to Hillary Clinton when she ran for senator of New York.  He is not pro-life, he does not oppose gay marriage, he is disrespectful and uses unnecessarily inflammatory rhetoric.  A bridge player, I definitely say "NO TRUMP".

Ted Cruz is not constitutionally eligible because he is not a natural born citizen.  His father was not a citizen of the U.S. at the time that he was born which is the definition of the term.  Cruz is also too much of a hawk on foreign policy.

Marco Rubio is also not constitutionally eligible because he too is not a natural born citizen.  Though he was born in U.S., neither of his parents were U.S. citizens at the time of his birth.  If you vote for either Cruz or Rubio, then you are helping someone to usurp an office that they are not entitled to.  Also Rubio is very much in support of allowing the government read people’s email, listen in on people’s phone conservations and other invasions of privacy without the proper warrants.

John Kasich supports Common Core, Medicaid expansion, and when he was a congressman, he voted for taxpayer funding of abortions.  He quotes verses in the Bible about giving to the poor and says this means that the government should take care of the poor.  This is very bad theology.

Ben Carson is wishy-washy and talks out of both sides of his mouth.  He is not a constitutionalist.  However, he is constitutionally eligible to become president, his positions on the issues are reasonable in comparison with the other candidates and he seems to be respectful and honest.  At least there is hope for him that he might be a "Good Choice".

All Lives Matter, Born and Unborn!

Fueling and Funding Evil Must End

No more funding (public or private) for this aborted baby body snatcher and parts distributer, Planned ParentHOOD. Sign the petition defund this corrupt and scandal-ridden entity by clicking the link below.

No more selling baby body parts: Defund Planned Parenthood! (Sign the Petition)

Ignoring or Condoning of Evil Must End

Did you know that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler was a fan of eugenicist Margaret Sanger, the founder of the Planned ParentHOOD, and implemented much of her wicked philosophy on his attempt to purify the Arian race?

Today Planned ParentHOOD continues to follow in Sanger's wayward footsteps in its 665 so-called "clinics," which are abortuaries (killing chambers), throughout America. Sadly, in 2016 many on the political Left have sainted Sanger and now consider abortion a most sacred sacrament.  Satan has essentially blinded the eyes of those who ignore the horrors being perpetrated on the unborn and their unwitting mothers and fathers by the planned predator or pariah of the abortion industry.

Seeking Justice for the Unborn

Saving the unborn is the preeminent civil rights issue of our day. Bringing about the end of abortion is the ultimate social justice issue. A close second is preserving natural (one-man, one-woman) marriage and the family. These two issues are closely intertwined. A third social justice issue is preserving and protecting religious liberty. With the immoral and unconstitutional SCOTUS decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, it has opened the door to a full bodied assault on Christianity, Christians and traditional American values.

In contrast to the real social justice issues named above, are the popular or our current culture's perception of what are the important social issues. These are enumerated in the www.takepart.com article, "The 10 Social Issues Americans Talk Most About on Twitter." Here are the 10 secondary issues (compared to the three I pointed out above) most tweeted by Americans from the top issue in descending order: Jobs, Freedom from Discrimination, Education, Honest and Responsive Government, Political Freedom, Climate Change, Protection of Forests, Rivers and Oceans, Equality Between Men and Women, Reliable Energy at Home, and Transportation and Roads.

Elections Have Consequences

For me one of the chief criteria for supporting or electing any candidate in the 2016 election or any election for that matter, is their stance on the right to life for the unborn. If we have another socialist secular-humanist like the current occupier of the White House or a GOP-Democrat-lite like Bush, Christie or Kasich the unborn will continue not to matter, we will continue to see the marginalization and assault on marriage and the family, furthermore we will continue to observe the deterioration of religious liberty. Most assuredly we will witness the demise of America...

Individual and National Revival is What is Needed Most

Electing the right candidate to congress and to the presidency is just a small part of what is needed to turn around this nation. A personal renewal in biblical faith and daily acting on that belief system is the key to the renewal or revival of America. It is the only thing that can restore America as a beacon of light and for good piercing this world's wickedness.  This individual revival can spark a national revival. It all starts with appreciating the fact that all lives matters, born and unborn, and acknowledging and accepting that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith...

Ohio Governor John Kasich is Pro-Life in Name Only

Below is an ad that will be running tomorrow on Channel 10 in Columbus, Ohio. If you're in Columbus, you can also watch Faith 2 Direct Action's 60-second Heartbeat Bill ad live on Channel 10, this Sunday (11/2) it will air between 11:30 a.m. and Noon.

I left blank my choice for Governor on my ballot this year. I, along with other conservatives and TEA Party Participants, did this in protest to John Kasich's lack of action in taking leadership on the Heartbeat Bill and for his action of expanding Medicaid and his support for Common Core. He wants to run for President. All I can say is that we'll have enough RINOs running in 2016 - Christie, Bush, and Romney...

Batchelder and Faber Hand Kasich Hollow Victory, Ohio Loses

The last time we "resolved" the federal debt crisis and kicked the can down the road, a "super congress" was created and power at the federal level was concentrated into the hands of even fewer people. Here in Ohio, we have done the same thing to our state Assembly and have overturned the will of the People thanks to the leading socialist Repugnants Governor John Kasich and House Speaker Batchelder.

Gongwer News reports that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved Governor Kasich's multi-billion dollar request to appropriate funds to expand Medicaid in Ohio.
  • The Board approved the request with a 5-2 vote, Senator Chris Widener and Representative Ross McGregor voting with the two democrats on the panel and the Kasich appointee who serves as the Board's President.
  • Representatives Amstutz and Rosenberger were removed from the Board by Speaker Batchelder earlier in the day in order, perhaps, to make way for a stronger majority vote. They were replaced by Representatives Ross McGregor and John McClain with McGregor joining the majority.
  • The only two "no" votes on the panel were Representative McClain and Senator Bill Coley both of whom chose to represent the will of the people and constitutional governance over political expediency.
By ensuring the key "yes" votes on the panel, Speaker Batchelder and Senate President Faber have become the unlikely harbingers of universal health care in a state that overwhelmingly rejected Obamacare in 2011 in the vote for health care freedom. To have swapped their conservative credentials in favor of such a legacy is startling and disappointing, especially for their constituents who have stood at the forefront in the fight against Obamacare in Ohio.

But Batchelder and Faber will not only be remembered for the "end" that they achieved today, but also for the "means" by which it was accomplished. They have allowed for major policy to be made through a quasi-legislative panel most Ohioans had not heard of just a few weeks ago and referred to by Politico as an "obscure Ohio board." Batchelder and Faber have circumvented the very state assembly over which they preside and shunned all checks & balances in the process.

Governor Kasich appears to be in denial over the handling of this issue speaking as if he has operated in concert with the state legislature. But the window dressing he applies only serves to underscore the flimsy nature of his façade,

"Together with the General Assembly we've improved both the quality of care from Medicaid and its value for taxpayers. Today's action takes another positive step in this mutual effort. I look forward to continuing our partnership with the General Assembly to build upon the progress we've already made to make Medicaid work better for Ohioans."Read more from Politico at this link.

The last word has not been spoken in this fight. Maurice Thompson of The 1851 Center for Constitutional Law is prepared to file suit against the Controlling Board's actions as early as Tuesday and will be joined by members of the state assembly who signed a letter of protest against Kasich's maneuvers last week. Thompson's suit will argue that the Controlling Board cannot act contrary to the intent of the state assembly.

OLC members who fought hard to stop Medicaid expansion cannot help but be disappointed in today's outcome. We should take heart, however, in the effectiveness of our campaign. Governor Kasich only achieved Obamacare's Medicaid expansion through extraordinary means. It was a hollow victory at best, one he can only characterize in false terms. Such a victory should not last if justice has its day.

Thank you to all you who fought so hard to stop Medicaid expansion. Do not let yesterday's loss divert you from our goal. We are on the right side of this battle as the failure of Obamacare reveals itself more and more every day.

Will Governor-elect Kasich be a Christie or Taft II?

Ohio's Governor-elect John Kasich

Former long-time U. S. Congressman John Kasich won his race for Governor of Ohio. That was the easy part, now comes the hard part, governing. I sure hope that he will follow New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's model rather than the soon to be former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger's, failed model of spend and spend and spend.

THE BUDGET

If John Kasich governs anything like either of his two immediate predecessors, RINO Bob Taft or ultra liberal Ted Strickland Ohio will be in deep do-do. The grand prize for winning the governorship will be high privilege of trying to balance a budget of a state facing an 8 billion dollar shortfall. This will be his first major test. He will need to put all of his business and budgeting experience from his days in the U.S. House of Representatives to work.

Will he have the courage to say know to a hoard of stakeholders with their hand out demanding a piece of the shrinking state pie? Will he like Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey make the hard but correct decisions to reestablish fiscal responsibility? Will he be able to keep his campaign promises and attract employers and jobs for Ohioans?

I saw an article in the local newspaper today which reported that Kasich has already informed the current Governor of Ohio that he will not proceed with the building of the Three C railroad line connecting the three major cities in Ohio with a new railroad line. Good start, Mr. Kasich. That project was a foolish boondoggle. The train would travel at less than what a car can travel between those cities. Who would ride it? It would end up further draining the coffers of the impoverished state treasury. It might be a different scenario if that was a bullet train traveling at twice the speed of passenger traffic. Kasich is not even in office and he is already saving the state money!

I believe that Kasich will have a very difficult time, but he will stick to his conservative fiscal principles and will lead Ohio out of the funk that it has been in for the last few decades. I believe that he will be more like Gov. Christie than the recent Ohio governors. Best wishes, Mr. Kasich!

EDUCATION

When you get around to education, sir, I wish you would return the funding stripped out of the budget for Abstinence-based sex education and eliminate the amoral Planned Parenthood model of comprehensive sex education. And while you are at it I'd like to see you ramp up parental choice in education encouraging vouchers and any and all alternative to our failed government-run indoctrination centers.

The Ohio Gubernatorial Race 2010

Every candidate for governor is a man and the running mates are all women, except for the write-in ticket.

Let’s go down the line here.  Start with John Kasich.

He is totally in bed with Wall Street and its irresponsible lending practices and bailouts.  He voted for DHHS bills providing funding for Planned Parenthood.  He would not repeal gun control laws (The NRA is actually endorsing Strickland.)  There isn’t an issue for which Kasich hasn’t betrayed the Constitution and conservative voters.  Don’t waste your vote on him.  The only possible saving grace is Kasich’s choice of a running mate, Mary Taylor.

Next I’ll take on Strickland.  I really don’t know much about his record, the NRA gives him an A+, but I know that he’s pro-abortion so the discussion stops right there.

Ken Matesz is a designer and builder of masonry heaters. (OK, that’s not relevant, but I thought I’d just throw that in.)  He is a pro-life libertarian.  But I can’t vote him.  OK, its not that he answered “no” to question “Should minors who send sexually-explicit or nude photos by cell phone face criminal charges?”  Since it is not even crime for them to have all out sex intercourse, then what’s the point in having a law against this?  (I am assuming that Mr. Matesz is interpreting this question the same as I am - that the subject of the photos consented to being photographed nude.)  And I ordinarily would never vote for anyone who says that they are for allowing civil unions for same-sex couples, but Matesz qualifies his answer by saying, “I support getting government out of everyone's private lives. It is not up to the state to decide who can form a "union" or who can get married. That is up to the people, parents, clergy, etc.”  Tough to swallow, but maybe I could have made an exception in his case, given that I agree with him on every other issue.  But the nail in the coffin is this:  His running mate is pro-choice (pro-legalization of murder).  But you can’t just vote for one, you have to either vote for the whole ticket or neither of them.

Dennis Spisak is a typical Green Party environmentalist wacko and typically pro-abortion too.  No need to look further into his record.

Then there’s the David L. Sargent & Andrew C. Pfeifer ticket.  I have no idea what they stand for.  Ordinarily, if I don’t know anything unacceptable about a candidate, then I vote for that candidate.  But I don’t ANYTHING about these guys.  No website, no questionnaire answers, no voting record, and no public statements that I could find.  I just can’t vote for someone not knowing if they are Communists, Fascists, Anarchists, or some other crazy ideologues.   If I could find out even one good thing about them I might vote for them.  Just say that you won’t support putting Jews in concentration camps, confiscating all privately owned property, or enforce Obama’s healthcare plan, and I’ll vote for you guys just to reduce the percentages of the other candidates!

If I could I would vote for Matesz and Taylor.  This is why we need to get the law changed so that the more discerning, discriminating, principled and well informed voters can have more of an impact on the election.  The election for governor and lieutenant governor should be separate!  (Or, all the candidates could put into one pool and allow the voters to select up to two with the second place candidate getting the lt. gov. nod.)  But as it stands right now, I am going to leave all the boxes under governor unfilled on my ballot.

Ohio and the 2010 Election

Real Clear
Politics
Generic
Ballot

U.S.
House of
Reps:

Democrats 178

Toss Ups
32

GOP
225

The past two days I attended a healthcare conference in Columbus, Ohio. There were approximately 200 persons in attendance. Yesterday 2 lobbyists, one Democrat and one Republican, and the Ohio association executive director and a national association policy director spoke about the upcoming general election.

I was very interested in what they had to say. The comments were geared mostly on Ohio.

NATIONAL POLITICS

Two of the speakers quoted the RealClearPolitics.com Generic Ballot, which is a composite of several different national polls. As of 10/27/2010 the GOP is projected to pick up 8 seats, leaving the Democrats still in the majority. Senate races in WV, NV, IL and CO were very close or tied.

In the House the Republicans are projected to gain the majority taking anywhere between 39 – 77 seats. Out of the 435 House seats up for grabs, only about 100 are competitive. A number of Democrats are retiring to spend time with families, which is code for ‘I’m quitting before my constituents’ fire me.’ Several in Congress are feeling the heat (of the boiling hot TEA maybe?)

In addition the Republicans are expected to pick up 7 governorships.

OBAMACARE

None of the 4 experts thought that Health Care “Reform” would be repealed outright. Any attempt to repeal would be vetoed by the President. Deadlock and incremental changes to the bill were the expected outcome in the post election battles over the new health care ‘reform’ law.

OHIO POLITICS

One thing that really struck me regarding Ohio was the comment made by one of the speakers stating that the grand prize for winning the gubernatorial election was the challenge to deal with the gruesome budget deficit of $8 billion. The current governor, Ted Strickland, is closing the gap and the race is tight. It could go either way. At the present time John Kasich, the GOP candidate is slightly ahead.

Rob Portman (R) has a very impressive lead over Lee Fisher (D) in the race for vacillating George Voinovich’s vacated seat. Portman leads by some 18 percentage points.

One U.S. House of Representatives race that is very close is the Democrat incumbent Zach Space (18th District) versus Republican Bob Gibbs. That race is very close.

Currently the Ohio State House is controlled by the Democrats and the Ohio Senate is controlled by the Republicans. The Democrats are projected to keep control of the House, but by a slimmer margin. The Republicans are expected to keep control of the Senate.

OHIO APPORTIONMENT BOARD

How the various voting districts will be apportioned is another key item to look at in this election. Based on the 2010 census, Ohio is expected to lose one of its seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. How the voting districts are reapportioned could impact elections for the next ten years.

The board consists of one Democratic Representative and one Republican representative. The other three positions include: the Ohio Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and the Governor. Right now The Republican Jon Husted is ahead of his Democratic opponent, while the Ohio State Auditor race sees Democrat David Pepper winning against the Republican. If that holds true, it will mean that the gubernatorial race will determine which party will be controlling the apportionment process.

John Kasich to Speak at Columbus, Ohio Tax Day Tea Party

I just received word from the person coordinating the Columbus (Ohio) Tax Day Tea Party that former Congressman, former FOX News host, current Chairman of Recharge Ohio and the next Ohio Governor, John Kasich (R-OH) will be speaking at the Columbus event.

If you will be in Columbus from 6-7:30 PM Wednesday, April 15th join the event at the Capitol Statehouse, Downtown at Broad and High.
