The World View in Five Minutes on Monday, July 3, 2017 had a special report by Emily Swanson,  "New Video Brings Out the True Meaning of Liberty." In the report below the author talks about the short video "The Lost Secrets of Liberty," which reviews what true meaning of Liberty to America. Our liberty here in America is deeply rooted in our Christian heritage. The more we reject our heritage, the further we get away from it, the less free we are as a people. 

The recent perverse United States Supreme Court decisions making abortion and same-sex "marriage" legal are leading the culture to the loss of basic morality, decency and freedom. America needs to wake up and return to its roots.

A new video from Bill Heid and Heirloom Audio Productions entitled The Lost Secrets of Liberty, released in time for July 4th, has been censored by Facebook.

Heid sought to bring Americans back to a real meaning of liberty and how true liberty is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“When we talk about something like liberty or if we say, ‘There's oppression.’ That has to have some type of framework. That has to have some type of context. We have to say, ‘What is it that we're going to be free of? Who is that’s going to be free of what?’”

Heid said that we need a clear definition of liberty in a culture that has made liberty a cliche word.

“The poacher thinks that conservation laws are oppressive. He wants freedom and liberty from that. So what is it that we're going to talk about? My biggest fear that we cover in the video is this idea of liberty; it's almost like a throw away word. It's used so much. What is it that we're trying to get that has made us free? What is it that has created this? How can we get underneath this concept and start to discuss it?”

The reason given by Facebook for banning the film? “Images of nudity or cleavage.” Heid’s only guess is that it might have been from an image of Michelangelo’s painting. It appears as though Facebook is grasping at straws. And ironically, Facebook, which should celebrate liberty, is actively curtailing it.

Regardless of Facebook’s misguided agenda, Heid remarked that he hopes the video will be a conversation starter about liberty.  

“I like to think of the video as conversation starters. You could send it to an atheist friend or a Muslim friend or even a Christian friend that doesn't see things as we might.”  

Heid emphasized the video is to remind us that liberty must be tethered to the right foundation.

“It has to be tethered to something because no one can do anything that they want to do anytime they want to do it. No one has that type of abstract freedom.” 

Heid said that the discussion starts at remembering where man's slavery really begins.

“One of the things that Luther talked a lot about that really was the springboard of the Reformation and the hinge upon which a lot of this turns is that if we don't understand that being a slave to sin is a foundational issue, we're going to find ourselves way off track.” 

Heid said that the Word of God provides a great framework for discussing the freedom of the one and the freedom of the many.

“There's always been this battle between the one and the many. And most Americans don't even know what you would be talking about when you said that. When we're talking that way we're talking about, ‘What's more important? The guy in the pew or the church itself? The individuals in a marriage or the marriage itself? The voter or the entire populace of the United States. If you err on either one of those sides, you're going to have anarchy on one side or you're going to have tyranny, on the other side. What I'm positing here is that Christianity is the only thing that handles this one and the many with the equal ultimacy of the Trinity.”

Heid advised how Christians should speak out for liberty in our culture.

“The first thing we have to decide is what Christianity is going to be. If we're going to reduce it to this idea where salvation is kind of in a closet; I go to God for my fire and life insurance; then quite rightly it doesn't speak to other aspects of our life and culture. I'm somebody that's going to push this more comprehensive idea of what it means to be a Christian and where does the Bible apply. I'm going to say all of the Bible for all of life.”

Heid shared a little known story that he portrays in the film about founding father Ethan Allen representing the mindset of God-given liberty.

“Ethan Allen, when he's at the Fort Ticonderoga, as a young lieutenant, a Redcoat said to him, ‘By what authority are you on the King's property?’ And he said, ‘By the authority of the Lord God Jehovah and the Continental Congress.’ That's a really interesting thing because we have to start to say, ‘By what authority? Who has the authority to say this or that?’”

Heid said there needs to be a biblical awakening to reignite a desire for true freedom.

“If there's going to be an awakening it has to be biblically-centered. We have to fall back in love with God's revealed Word and then we can't be afraid to talk about it. We've got to get it out of its cage and say, ‘How is this applied?’ And then as far as liberty's concerned, I think that liberty needs to be a byproduct of something else. If you're faithful to God's Word, liberty is going to be one of those very enjoyable by-products.”  ...

Heid emphasized that we can only taste liberty by seeking God, not by seeking liberty as the end goal.

Guns ‘n Moses

Two of the Left’s favorite targets today are guns and the influence of Moses, the author of the first five books of the Bible, which are also referred to as the Pentateuch. Let’s explore these two major barriers in the way of further advancement  the leftist, secularist, and socialist agenda over America. 

Battling Over Guns 

It all comes down to Gun Rights - the rights of law-abiding citizens to own whatever weapons they need to protect themselves and their families - versus Gun Control or "Gun Violence" advocates. The so called Gun Control advocates are really Gun Grabbers. They blame "Guns" for the problem and not the real culprits, the criminals, the gun-runners, the mentally ill with history of violence, illegal aliens with history of violence, and especially the gang-bangers. The government and law enforcement need to go after the real criminal and gangs and place any person or criminal convicted of using a gun in a crime on a registry (like sex offenders) so the law-abiding public can be aware of that person's proclivity to use fire arms illegally.


It is just foolish to focus on controlling law-abiding citizens and IGNORING criminals who are intent on using guns in the commission of their next crime which would include going after newly disarmed or restricted law-abiding gun-owning citizens! But it is just like the progressive left to defend the 'rights' of the wrong, instead of defending the rights of those who do no wrong. Bill recently wrote in response to the above comment I made to an Alternet.org article (“NY Rallies for Gun Control Legislation: 'History Cannot Reflect That We Allowed Sandy Hook to Happen and Did Nothing.'”)

“Any metal file at the nearest hardware store will eliminate the serial numbers. Attempting to justify yourself by inserting criminals into the question is a nonstarter. They can steal your gun.” 

I responded to Bill’s comment,

“Bill, Pleeeeeeeaze, law-abiding citizens are NOT criminals. Why do you and the left insist in treating them as such? I cannot follow your logic. Thieves and other criminals can steal my car and erase the VIN number and do a lot of damage with it... What does that prove?

“Criminals, especially gang-bangers and those that commit any crime using a gun and the violence they cause in the large, usually Democrat-controlled cities - run wild.

“Like the borders, enforce the laws on the books and go after the crooks first before you legislate comprehensive immigration (read that amnesty for illegal aliens) or before you legislate comprehensive gun control (read that gun confiscation from law-abiding citizens) ...”

Guns are not the problem. Criminals, the mentally ill, the gang bangers, and illegal aliens with guns are the problem. Instead of legislation restricting law-abiding citizens in any way, better legislation would be to register any criminal who commits a crime or who carries a gun without having a permit when arrested. Violators would be placed on a registry of gun offenders like sex offenders. This will alert the public of potential danger as well as the police who can monitor those who potentially are more likely to have and to misuse a firearm.

The progressive left continues to hound the wrong people - the law-abiding citizen. Go after the criminal element. Why create the likelihood of more crimes being committed by not allowing the law-abiding citizen to arm themselves in their homes with whatever weapons they choose? To restrict or disarm the law-abiding citizen in any way is a downright foolish and dangerous policy.

Battling Over Moses and the Ten Commandments 

The ACLU, Freedom from Religion, and the People for the American Way are all leftist groups determined to purge America of every vestige of Biblical and Christian expression and morality. Moses was a leader of the Jewish nation when God gave him the Ten Commandments. The mere placement of the time-honored and proven guidelines in any public venue is the reason they are a prime target of the Leftists bent on transforming America into a Socialist utopia. Why? The Ten Commandments embody the antithesis of the Leftist Agenda. For example:

· “Thou shalt not murder.” Abortion is a direct violation of God’s command. Abortion is the most sacred sacrament of the feminists and leftists of every sort.

· “Thou shalt not steal” contradicts the socialist wealth distribution of our President and his treasonous Party.

· “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” Wow, that is a big one. Greed, Lust, Narcissism, are all gods to many Americans.

· “You shall not commit adultery.” Sexual freedom, free love is another cornerstone of the leftist philosophy…

This week the Supreme Court of the United States is scheduled to hear arguments for fraudulent same-sex ‘marriage’ against the wishes of the voters of California’s Proposition 8, and for the repeal of Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). This is another major plank of the left’s agenda and the driving issue of those who want to mainstream homosexual behavior and lifestyle. Clearly Moses in the first five books of the Judeo-Christian bible documented God’s disapproval of all sexual relationships except for that found in man-woman monogamous marriage.

Guns and Moses, if the Left could do away with both, they could go a long way in advancing their diabolical agenda and further damage the foundations of this once great God-blessed nation. Let’s hope and pray that the SCOTUS and people of the United States will resist the forces of evil in the battles against guns and Moses that loom large this year…

Why I support Barack Obama as Time’s Person of the Year 

Barack Obama was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2012. An honor bestowed upon almost every president since 1927. Our 44th President is a remarkable president. No president in our nation’s history has accomplished so little in such a short time. No president has ever been elected to the highest office in the land with less experience. No president has ever been reelected with a record as remarkable as this president’s record.

Here are the top 10 reasons why I support Barack Obama as Time’s Person of the Year.

1. For the first time in our nation’s history we had our credit rating downgraded from AAA to AA+. (In terms of baseball that would be the equivalent of being sent back down to the Minor leagues.)

2. The Benghazi Cover Up. Four Americans died in Libya on Sept 11, 2012 while the President watched and did nothing. After the attack the President lied and said it was not a terrorist attack. To make matters worse initially the attack was blamed on a video. (Three months later the American People are still waiting for the truth and an apology.)

3. The President has presided over the worst economy since The Great Depression. His policies, not the ones of his predecessor are the main reason the economy will not recover. The main culprit is his signature achievement. The Affordable Care Act has kept small businesses from hiring, thus exacerbating the problems in regard to the economy. (If we repeal and replace AFA the economy will turn around a lot sooner.)

4. There are 47 million Americans on food stamps right now. (The President has certainly earned his nickname as the Food Stamp President.)

5. It has taken 219 years and 43 former presidents to spend less money than Barack Obama has spent in only his first four years. (As a result of this accomplishment according to U.S. Debt Clock.org that is approximately $52,000 per person.) http://www.usdebtclock.org/

6. With 23 million Americans out of work and the unemployment rate over 8% Barack Obama has not met with his jobs council in over six months. If that wasn’t enough he also removed the work requirement for Welfare. (Mr. President, the greatest social program is a job.)

7. With the threat of a nuclear Iran, the Assad regime in Syria, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a Middle East on the verge of eruption, an unstable North Korea, a belligerent Russia, and a power hungry China, the President wants to cut our national defense as well as reduce our nuclear arsenal to pre Cold War levels. (Just for extra fun he also has skipped the majority of his intelligence briefings.)

8. Gas prices when George W. Bush left office were $1.78 a gallon. Gas Prices have routinely been over $3.50 per gallon and continue to grow even higher. (Good call Mr. President on turning down that Keystone Pipeline.)

9. Telling business owners that they are not responsible for building their own businesses. Eluding to the fact that somehow the government had a hand in building their businesses, not the blood, sweat, tears, sacrifice, risk, and money of the entrepreneurs themselves. (Mr. President, why do small businesses fear you again?)

10. Solyndra, Fisker Automotive, General Motors, Fast and Furious, Cash for Clunkers, Spectra Watt, Sun Power, First Solar, Bright Source, the list goes on and on and on.

The folks at Time Magazine sure know how to pick them. They made an excellent choice for their Person of the Year. Barack Obama has accomplished so much in so little time. With his stellar record of achievements what else could he possibly do to better his already stellar record? I know at least half the country right now is waiting on pins and needles to find out. Maybe he will be so successful that he becomes President for life? I’m sure the President’s next four years will be just as successful as his first four years.

Isn’t it ironic that the same man who is named ‘Person of the Year’ at the end of four failed years and the beginning of an undeserved 2^nd term is receiving this recognition? It is about as meaningful as his receiving the Noble Peace Prize prior to any real accomplishment other than fooling half of the American voting public four years ago.

Someone on an on-line forum just asked me how I was doing. My response was “Pretty well, considering the fact that my country must endure four more years of grossly inept leadership on the part of both the Democrat and the Republican Parties. Despite the fact that no one wants to deal with the real problem with our nation - Big Government and its Big Spending ... Where "Tax the Rich' is being used by Obama as a distraction to cover his many failures and to deflect the attention away from the real problem – the nations increasing debt!”

Rand Paul Votes In Favor of Sanctions on Iran

Last week I posted an article about Ron and Rand Paul and why a lot of conservatives seem to like Rand, but won’t vote for Ron for President.  The news about Rand’s recent vote on sanctions on Iran may be a very revealing answer to the question.

Before I get to Rand’s answer, let’s look at Ron’s position on the issue.  I don’t want to put words into his mouth, but I know he considers sanctions to be an act of war.  (And therefore they would only be appropriate if war were officially declared.)  Consider two typical businesses, one in America and one in Iran.  Imposing sanctions would prevent these two businesses from engaging in commerce.  Even though Iran may have wicked leadership, to cite that as a justification for sanctions (or war) would be a case of the pot calling the kettle black (consider who our President is).  What if a business in Iran doesn’t subscribe to the agenda of the leadership of its country?  Why should they be punished for what someone else did?  There are actually some Christians in Iran who haven’t yet been killed.  In general, if you deprive two people from engaging in legitimate commerce, then you are depriving them of liberty.  I realize that there could be extenuating circumstances in which exceptions could apply (i.e. if the business in Iran would be required to pay taxes that would go to support terrorism or other criminal activities).  But just because Iran may get a nuclear weapon, does not justify such extreme measures.  The basic principle is to allow as much liberty as possible without supporting an obvious suppression of it in another case.  One tenet of my political philosophy is that nothing should be against the law unless you can prove from the Bible that it is sin.

Rand said that he would not support a war against Iran because it would rally the Iranian people against the United States.  He also said that we would not be able to afford it.  He said that innocents would be harmed.  But sanctions would also rally the Iranian people against America.  And any sanctions would be meaningless unless we used force to enforce it.  This would also cost a lot of money.  And innocents would be harmed because they would be deprived of the liberty of engaging in commerce as I described above.  All these negative effects could in fact lead to a war which Rand says he is against.

So that is why I conclude that sanctions on Iran are not good unless they actually attack the United States and we formally declare war on them.

At a recent TEA Party meeting, I heard this quote made by one of the speakers, who had quoted an early American patriot. Although it was not used in the context of Barack Obama at that meeting, I think it is very apropos.

“Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants (i.e. Obama) forge their chains. A vitiated (poor quality, below acceptable standard in quality of performance) state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom. With the election of the current occupier of the White House in 2008, America got what the majority wanted, or thought they wanted. In another sense America got what we deserved. In 2012 we must once again remember God, if we want our liberty restored. We must absolutely reject a second term for the incumbent would-be tyrant.

Our Growing, Groping Government

I was on twitter earlier today and found a link to something interesting on the Obama White House’s website.
 

InfoWars.com states the following, “A petition to abolish the TSA has appeared on the White House.gov website, with the massive response evidence of how infuriated Americans have become at being groped not only at airport, but also highways, sports stadiums and at other public venues.

“The petition appears on the “We The People” section of WhiteHouse.gov, a new feature intended to be “a new, easy way for Americans to make their voice heard in our government.””

Abolish the TSA, and use its monstrous budget to fund more sophisticated, less intrusive counter-terrorism intelligence.

The Transportation Security Administration has been one of the largest, most expensive and most visible blunders of the post-9-11 homeland security reformation. It has

·         violated countless constitutional rights of average Americans,

·         caused miserable and expensive delays in an already-overburdened air travel system, and

·         allowed multiple known instances of harassment, theft, extortion and sexual abuse by its employees.

·         It has failed approximately 70% of undercover efficacy tests, and for all its excesses, has been unable to catch even a single terrorist since its creation.

In our current economic situation, we can no longer afford to continue wasting taxpayer dollars on this Kafkaesque embarrassment. Let us instead invest in saner, more effective solutions.

Tea Party Express Buses Stop in Avon, Ohio 9/3/2011

On Saturday I drove up to Avon, Ohio which is west of Cleveland, to see first hand the Tea Party Express Tour stop. The two Tea Party Express buses are traveling from coast-to-coast starting in California and ending in Florida in time for a GOP Presidential Candidate Debate on September 12th. The local organizers did a good job in the hour prior to the Tea Party Express gang's arrival. Joe the Plumber of 2008 Election fame spoke briefly in the first hour.

 The Tea Party Express Tour participants included excellent singers, a comedian, and some great speakers including Nevada US Senate Candidate  Sharon Angle, who nearly upset the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. She also plugged her book, Right Angle, proceeds of which will fund her new PAC, which in turn will be used in helping to elect more conservatives to Congress.

 Ohio Treasury Secretary and U.S. Senate Candidate Josh Mandel challenged the crowd of between 500-1000 people to help him to get elected to replace the U.S. Senate's most liberal Senator, Sherrod Brown. He received enthusiastic applause at the prospect of a conservative alternative to the current Obama Kool-Aid devouring Senator Brown.

During a portion of the presentation an airplane flew over the baseball field where the Tour stop was held carrying the banner, "Give me liberty -- not debt." This put an apt exclamation mark on the message of the and the Tea Party Express event. The Tea Party Movement continues its onward momentum.
