Unveiling Grace

Mormonism is a false religion which is based on salvation by works and righteousness.  In real Christianity, salvation is a free gift, and works and righteousness are result of the grace that God gives to the believer.

Many years ago, when I was an undergraduate, a group of my friends tried to witness to some Mormon missionaries.  We got into some really deep discussions with them over a period of several weeks.  As time went on, other Mormons came along besides the two missionaries.  They were obviously higher-ups in the church.  But some other guy who came with Mormons named Jeff didn't talk much and didn't wear a white shirt or tie and didn't have a name tag on.  At the end of one of our sessions, we shook hands with the Mormons as usual.  But this time when Jeff shook my friend's hand, he slipped my friend a note.  The note said "help me" and asked us to meet with him at a particular place and time.  After they left, my friend read the note to us.  Then we all prayed.  I prayed like I had never prayed before.

We met with Jeff.  He explained that he was not really in trouble, but wanted to warn us that Mormonism is a false religion.  He explained that he had joined the Mormon Church only because he had dated some Mormon girl.  But the girl had dumped him and he had since found Christ (the real Christ).  He had decided to stay in the Mormon Church so that he could thwart the efforts of the missionaries.  He bought a large number of copies of a book, an exposé of Mormonism called "The God Makers".  He would put a copy of this book in the mailboxes of the potential converts targeted by the missionaries.  But being college students, we didn't have accessible mailboxes so he contacted us with the note instead.  He told us that he had decided to quit going along with the missionaries and to leave the Mormon Church because it was dishonest to deceive them into thinking that he was a sincere Mormon.

As the video indicates, Mormonism is riddled with contradictions.  In first three chapters of the book of Jacob (one of the books in the book of Mormon) it specifically states that David sinned when he married more than one wife.  But the 132nd chapter of Doctrine and Covenants (another book considered to be scripture according to the Mormon Church), it specifically says that David did nothing wrong when he married more than one wife.  Mormons are liars.  Mormon political candidates lie and say that they are pro-life with no exceptions (if it is politically expedient for them to do so), but then they take the position of the Mormon Church (which is that abortion is acceptable in cases of rape, incest or certain birth defects).  I will never knowingly vote for a Mormon candidate for any office.  Anyone who voted for Mitt Romney should repent.  The Bible says not to be "unequally yoked with an unbelievers" and to "come out from them and be separate, and touch not the unclean thing" for "what fellowship can Christ have with Belial?"  To the best of my ability, I will only vote for real Christians.

Hat tip to the Seppi blog for posting the video at the beginning of this post.

Santorum’s “Act of God”

Now that Santorum has dropped out, he has shown how wimpy he really is.  I mentioned in a comment that if Santorum really cared about changing the country for the good, he would have stayed in the race to try to force a brokered convention.  But since he is almost the same as Romney, what would be the point?

I remember Santorum’s response to the statement, “It would take an act of God…” for you to win the election.  Why then did he drop out?  I guess Santorum no longer believes in acts of God!  Actually, in one of Santorum’s responses to the statement, he made a Freudian slip and said, “I believe in act of Gods.”  Ah!  Maybe he was subconsciously referring to polytheistic faith which his major opponent professes.  Maybe he meant that the gods are on Romney’s side because he is a Mormon, a religion which teaches that Elohim (God) is just one of many and that people can become gods.  That religion would seem to suit Santorum well because he thinks that he is so great and thinks (like Mormons) that doing good works cancels out sin.  (Remember how he justified some of his bad votes like abortion funding and No Child Left Behind.)  The only problem would be that he would have to give up drinking alcohol and smoking pot.

Who Will You Really Be Voting For in This Primary Election?

pictured at left: Pope Benedict XVI   pictured at right: LDS President Thomas Monson

Now that you know where Newt, Ron, Mitt, and Rick stand on the issues, what about their religion?

Here it is:

Candidate
Religion
Newt Gingrich
Catholic
Ron Paul
Protestant
Mitt Romney
Mormon
Rick Santorum
Catholic

The Framers of the Constitution included a Natural Born Citizen clause (NBCC) in the Constitution.  The purpose of the post is not to suggest that any of the candidates are constitutionally ineligible and it is not to discuss its exact meaning.  The four major candidates for the GOP nomination are all unquestionably eligible according to letter of the Constitution.  But don’t forget what the purpose of the NBCC was.  It was to prevent someone from becoming President who has divided loyalties between America and some other country.  It was to prevent a Presidency that would show favoritism to another country.

So what does this have to do with the religion of the candidates?  Catholics do have a loyalty to the Pope who is a foreign sovereign.  Catholicism is not just a religion.  Vatican City is an actual sovereign nation, and the Pope is the head of its government.  The Roman Empire never completely ceased to exist--the Vatican is the remnant of it.  We are not to look for a fifth empire after the four that Daniel spoke of.  We are to look for a resurgence of the fourth.

There are also other concerns about Catholics. The Catholic Church can blackmail them with their dirty laundry that they have obtained from the confessionals.  The Pope himself has expressed a belief that worldwide governing structures need to be even more consolidated and strengthened, eroding what is left of national sovereignty.

As for Romney, he is a Mormon which is a cult.  The leadership (The Prophet and President) of the Church of Joseph Smith, Jr. of Latter Day Aints, though an American, has even more control of the actions of his flock, than the Pope has over the Catholics.  The Mormons believe that there are many gods and that they can become gods.  The Mormon Church teaches that abortion is acceptable in cases of rape, incest, and with the baby has some certain birth defects.  Don’t listen to Glenn Beck when he says that Romney is a reasonable alternative to Obama.  Beck is also a Mormon.

Now, may the reader understand, I don’t actually think that Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney have an ounce of sincerity when comes to their religion.  (Their real religion is Socialism.)  But I say these things for the benefit of those who do.

Ron Paul is not a perfect Christian.  No one but Christ is perfect.  But Ron Paul is a very charitable individual, has been married to his wife for over 50 years, and believes in Biblical principles of government such as personal responsibility, tolerance, Biblical monetary policy, and Christian Just War Theory.  His sincerity is unquestionable.  The church he attends is Bible-based and not overly authoritative like the Catholic Church or the Mormon Church.

In conclusion, Ron Paul is a “safe” candidate from the point of view that his religion would not interfere with the execution of his office and his strong grounding in certain Biblical principles is a definite plus.  The rest of the GOP candidates have a very undesirable conflict of interest.

Four Faiths & Three Gods

President George W. Bush was tragically wrong when he claimed that all faiths serve the same God. I heard a clear explanation today by Dr. Richard Land on his radio show, Richard Land Live, regarding faith, God. and the false gods.

The Four Abrahamic Faiths

There are four religions that are Abrahamic. They all recognize Abraham as prominent in their teaching. The four faiths are Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Mormonism.

The first and oldest of the four faiths is Judaism. Much of the Old Testament of today’s Bible is considered the sacred text of the Jews.

The second, which proceeds and builds greatly upon Judaism, is Christianity. Christianity was established 2000 years ago by God (Jehova) incarnate, Jesus Christ, God who became man and offers the only eternal salvation to fallen mankind.

The third developed around 700 A.D. and was based on supposed revelations of the god Allah to the prophet Mohamed. The primary ‘sacred’ text of the Muslim faith is the Koran.

The fourth faith stemming from Abraham is Mormonism. Like the Islamic faith, this religion is based on revelations to another ‘prophet’ Joseph Smith in the 1800s. It is the newest faith. Their ‘sacred’ text is the book of Mormon and other revelations of the Mormon god.

Those, then, constitute the four faiths, which account for a large portion of the world’s religious peoples.

The Three Objects of Worship

Only two of the four share or worship the same God. Judaism and Christianity worship God (Jehova) the Father. Where the Jews differ from Christians is that the Jewish people generally reject Jesus Christ, who is God’s Son and God the Holy Spirit. Orthodox Christian recognizes a Triune God.

Islam’s Allah is not God. Allah is a god, an idol selected from among many, by the prophet Mohamed. Allah is the god of this world.

The god of Mormonism is one of many gods. Adherents to this faith work to become gods themselves.

Conclusion

Just as Judaism and Christianity have some commonalities. There are many similarities between Mormonism and Islam. Primarily it comes down to being a matter of the one true God, Jehova, versus a false god, which distinguishes faith.

The Difference between Mormonism and Christianity

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Of Mormons and Muslims

Polygamy and the Taliban, a Bob Englehart cartoon found on GOPUSA.com

There are a lot of similarities between Mormons and Muslims especially the radical ones . . . But in the end their works won't prophet either of them . . .

September Dawn (2007)

September Dawn is a very good and compelling movie. It reminded me of the Patriot. It clearly shows a meaningful contrast between the false religion of Mormonism, which in many ways is similar to Islam, and true biblical Christianity. Both Mormonism and Islam rely on the direct revelation of “god” to primarily one fallible man. In the case of Mormonism it was Joseph Smith. In the case of Islam it was Muhammad. I see several parallels between these two belief systems. Both reject the absolute authority and unique deity of Jesus Christ as being part and parcel of the true Triune God. Both of these false belief systems reject the Judeo-Christian Bible as the primary and absolute authority of the standard of God for life and actions. In other words, Mormonism and Islam, as do all false religions, attempt to add to or to supersede biblical revelation. We are warned in the Scripture not to add to God’s revealed words.

The movie really brings out an accurate contrast between true Christianity and typical non-Christian religions such as Mormonism or Islam. When you depart from the truth, you are prone to immoral behavior such as the former Mormon practice of polygamy. The movie graphically show how the “apostles” of Mormonism used their office much like some of the hierarchy in the Roman Catholic Church have in the past, to aggrandize themselves. In the case of the Mormon “apostles” they took wives of other men for themselves if they so desired. Whenever anything or anyone other than the Word of God, the Bible, is used as the final authority, then such behavior as the Meadow Mountain Massacre or the Twin Towers Terrorist Attack could occur.

The movie centers on an American tragedy, which has been mainly suppressed or ignored for many years. Ironically it was the first major tragic event that happened to occur on September 11th. In the case of the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 120 men, woman and children lost their lives. This massacre happened 144 years before the Twin Towers in 1857.

I don’t think that this movie did very well in the box office, but it should have. It tells a important story that is relevant for today.

There is a story of romance intertwined with the historical account as well.

RATING

I give this movie a ***** out of *****. The violence portrayed gives it a rating of “R”, otherwise it would be a “PG”. The movie is not a family movie. It is meant for adults and mature teens. I would recommend the purchase of the movie. It was released in theaters last fall and released on DVD at the beginning of the year. At least rent the movie if you do not want to purchase it. I highly recommend it. It gives a historical account that does not reflect positively on what some Americans did in the past, but it is a story that needed to be told.

What’s so wrong with Porn?

Everything is wrong with porn - from its exploitation of the men, women, boys and girls, who are the objects of the content of the shameful material, to its destructive affect on the mind, soul and spirit of the end viewer. It also affects the user’s family and other interpersonal relationships. Pornography is only of temporal benefit to its producers and purveyors. Pornography is a billion dollar business at the expense of societal welfare.

CHOOSING LIBERTY OR LASCIVIOUSNESS

The “American” Civil “Liberties” Union (ACLU), activist judges and other so-called “protectors” of “free speech” and “liberty” are actually promoting people’s possible enslavement to an addictive, unhealthy and an abnormal behavior. There is absolutely nothing redeeming in viewing or reading pornographic materials. It is a colossal waste of time and treasure.

But some would argue that viewing illicit or indecent materials (as measured by God’s standards, non man's) is a personal choice and is something anyone, including children, should be able to do in a “free” society. To that I say we must have standards in a civilized society. Despite what the secular-humanists espouse, man is no mere animal given only the selfish satisfaction of his needs. No, man is the highest form of God’s creation; we are made in His image and likeness. That is what distinguishes us from a sheep or a frog.

In terms of immorality, making and partaking in pornography ranks with the atrocity of abortion, child abuse, adultery and the perversity of homosexual behavior. Pornography is the antithesis of morality. It is a violation of the basic laws of nature and of nature’s God. God’s plan for sex is that it be fulfilled only in a traditional one-man, one-woman relationship. Therefore sex outside of this relationship is wrong, no matter if the behavior involves adulterous, promiscuous or self-gratification relationships or activities.

The only real solution to STDs, teenage pregnancy, addiction to pornography is sexual abstinence until marriage. The opposite is taught in our government schools. The secular humanistic, hedonistic worldview mocks at this solution and cries condoms and more money for medications to overcome the affects of HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases. Ever since the secular humanist religion replaced the true God in our educational institutions we have strayed further away from these truths, including clear teaching of moral absolutes. Our sex and violence oriented media and entertainment industries feeds the wanton desires of a growing pagan society, which includes infecting and assimilating of a growing number of worldly Christians.

PORN POISONS, PRECURSOR TO CRIME

Furthermore, pornography is a prelude to some criminal behavior including rape, child abuse, sexual assault, pedophilia etc. Adult bookstores and movies with provocative sexual content should be labeled Hazardous to your mental, social and spiritual well being. It is toxic, more harmful to humans than cigarettes or any pollution. It is after all, mind pollution, plain and simple!

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

Avoid pornography, don't buy-into its allure, don't purchase it, don't view it . . . easily said, but more difficult to do. But as the Bible, the Word of God, says, "With God all things are possible.' . . .

The only real solution is for each individual, starting with those who are true followers of Jesus Christ, is to repent of our personal wickedness and to embrace and follow God’s plan for our lives. He tells believers in the Bible that we are to be holy as He is holy. What? Yes, that is God’s standard. Wow, that is definitely not the world’s standard, just the opposite.

God made us with a free will. We are not robots. We are free to make choices in many areas of our lives. We ultimately choose how we live and what behaviors we do. We can choose to obey God or we can choose to ignore Him and live for only for ourselves. We have that degree of freedom. Why then would be choose to give that control to our lower natures and expose ourselves to becoming addicted to sex? Why would we allow our passions to control us and not principles? Why? Man is in a fallen condition. Man has a depraved nature.

There is, however, ultimate hope in Jesus Christ, who is God’s provision, to overcome our lower nature and to enable us to live in a higher realm here on earth in preparing us for our more permanent destiny. It all starts with giving our lives over to God, through the means of His Son, Jesus Christ. A few days ago we celebrated Christmas, which commemorates the birth of the Savior. In a few months we will be celebrating Easter, when we remember the Resurrection of the Savior. In between the Birth and Resurrection, Jesus, who was fully God, became man, suffered and died for our sins on a cruel Cross. It is only through Jesus that anyone can have the hope of an eternal relationship and fellowship with God.

The Bible talks about two paths or ultimate outcomes of our lives will lead. Despite what the man-is-god philosophers say, earth is not our ultimate destination. We live and we die, yes, but our souls live on forever. We are not reincarnated, but we do exist beyond the grave. There are two possible fates that await us.

One destination is everlasting separation from God. This is the ultimate state of existence for anyone who rejects the provision of Jesus to restore them to God. Hell is real and hell is in essence an existence totally devoid of God. As the Bible so well states this is the broad way which leads to destruction. The other is a narrow way, which leads to life.

The other destination or ultimate state of existence is in the presence of God forever. Contrary to the teachings and beliefs of Mormons or Muslims or any other religion for that matter, we do not earn our way to heaven. Entry or access to heaven only comes to us through a personal relationship with the Savior, Jesus Christ.

THE ULTIMATE CHOICE

At some point in our lives here on earth we must deal with what to do with Jesus. We either reject or we accept Him. We must have accepted Him as our personal mediator or reconciler to make us in right relationship with God. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to (God) the Father except through Me.”

The key is the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We must realize that God loves each of us uniquely and unequivocally. But, at the same time we must acknowledge that we are sinners, wicked individuals, hopelessly lost and apart from God. We must accept by faith that Jesus died for our sins, evil, indiscretions and wrongs. Through a free act of our will (choice) we must ask Jesus to come into our lives and to live, to guide and to help us to live up to the standards that God sets forth in the Bible, His Word to a fallen race of man. How do we do this? We can do this through a simple heartfelt conversation with God.

On Abortion, Where Do They Stand?

I have read some things about Fred Thompson that make me not want to vote for him. In 1994 he said that he believed that abortion should be legal in the first trimester of the pregnancy and other statements which seemed totally pro-choice. He now says that Roe v. Wade should be overturned, and he would leave it up to the states to decide the law. But the right to life is guaranteed by the Constitution which should not be superseded by the states. As recently as this year he said that he would not vote for a law that would “criminalize a young woman” for choosing to have an abortion. He has said that he would not use abortion as a “litmus test” when selecting Supreme Court justices. I have not seen anything that would indicate that he has changed his mind about this. He has said recently that he believes that abortion should legal in cases of rape and incest and that he would not be in favor of either an amendment to the Constitution to ban abortion or to ban gay marriage.

If both an abortion doctor and a woman who is to receive an abortion conspire to murder the unborn baby, then they are both guilty. It is unacceptable to only punish one of the guilty parties. Anyone who consents to the abortion is guilty and should be punished just as if he or she did the same thing to any other innocent person. There should be equal protection under the law as the Constitution says. The National Right to Life’s endorsement of Fred Thompson means nothing at all to me.

John McCain voted for federally funding embryonic stem cell research. I read that he believes that abortion should be legal in cases of rape and incest.

Mitt Romney used to be for legal abortion and special rights for homosexuals. He says he has changed his mind about these issues, but he still believes that abortion should be legal in cases of rape and incest. He is a Mormon and their Prophet (the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) recently made a proclamation that it is acceptable for Mormon women to have abortions in cases of rape, incest, and certain birth defects.

Rape is a horrible thing, but only the rapist should punished, not the innocent child. Such a child is no less of a person than any other baby. I have decided that I will never compromise on this when I vote. A candidate must be 100% pro-life.

Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, and Tom Tancredo are the ones who believe that all abortions should be illegal. Duncan Hunter favors a Constitutional Amendment that would explicitly say that personhood begins at conception. Ron Paul and (I think) Mike Huckabee favor leaving it up to the States. I’m not sure of what Tom Tancredo’s exact position is on this.

I saw one debate in which Tancredo and Paul said that they would not necessarily support whoever becomes the Republican nominee. But the rest of the candidates basically said that they would (even if it is Rudy Giulliani!!!???). The way Sam Brownback said this was particularly nauseating—thank God he dropped out.

Who is a Real Christian?

Is TV & Radio personality Glenn Beck a Mormon & a Christian?

I recall that on May 10, 2007 while listening to the Glenn Beck Radio Show. I heard Al Sharpton say that he thought Mr. Beck and the Mormons were Christians. I thought, “This is sad.” Al Sharpton had said, “…not to be concerned about Mitt Romney because God would support the real Christians.” To which I thought, “How sweet. That leaves out all those running for the office of President in the Democrat Party.” The only Democrat who might be a Christian is Gov. Richardson. I say this because I know nothing about the man. All the other Democrat candidates by their positions and actions present no evidence that they are true Christians.

Glenn got very angry with Al Sharpton because felt that “Rev.” Sharpton had implied Governor Mitt Romney and the Mormon Church are not Christians. How could anyone not believe Mormons are Christians? Ann Coulter is reported as saying Mitt Romney is as Christians as she is. I am sure that is true. More than likely neither of them are true Christian.

Mormons may proselytize a Christian, who does not know God’s Word (the Bible), and in that way have a confessing Mormon who is a Christian. However, Mormonism fundamentally is not Christian, nor do people become Christian by being Mormon. Glenn Beck told of a position he has in the Mormon Church which if he knew God’s Word he would know his position is bogus. Glen said that he is a priest after the order of Meklchizedek. This priestly position was conferred on him by the Mormon Church.

Melchizedek is a man like unto the Son of God who is without mother or father, without beginning of life or end of days. In order to be a priest after the order of Melchizedek one must have an endless life. What Glen and the Mormon Church contend is that Glenn Beck has an endless life without beginning of life or end of days. In other words, Glenn is God. Anyone knows that this is not true.

Jesus is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. He is so by means of an endless or eternal life having been so designated by God the Father. Jesus is God, creator of the universe. I doubt if Glenn has an endless life and will never die nor does God consider him a priest after the order of Melchizedek. This is only one of the false beliefs of the Mormon Church.

Mormons also teach that the family is forever. This is not true. “Family” exists only for as long as both man and woman shall live. Jesus says there is no marrying or giving in marriage for those who attain to the resurrection. A woman had married seven brothers one at a time in order to raise children to the oldest brother. Finally the woman died. The question asked of Jesus was, “Whose wife would she be in the resurrection?” Jesus said there is no marrying or giving in marriage in the resurrection. The family relationship ends and the people are as the angels in that they won’t marry or have children in resurrection of the righteous. Mormons teach that each family will be able to populate a whole world for themselves. This of course is not true.

Sadly, Mormons teach that one is made right with God by the works of righteousness done within the Mormon Church. Unfortunately this is not true and the Mormons are lost and not Christian. They are going to perdition (hell and the second death, the Lake of Fire.)

To determine who is truly a Christian one must look at the Word of God and see what it says and then look at a person’s life, conduct, and speech to see if they line up with the truth of God’s Word. Most conservative talk show hosts all claim to be Christians. At least those talk show hosts to whom I listen - Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Bennett, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Laura Ingram and Michael Reagan - make that claim.

Of the conservative talk show host listed above only Michael Reagan appears to be a genuine Christian. Bill Bennett is close for I heard him say that one is not a Christian by their good works but by faith. This of course is correct as Martin Luther said, “Faith Alone.” I question whether Bill Bennett has applied this to himself by repenting of his sins and inviting Jesus into his heart. Rush Limbaugh is close for he said that the consensus of Christians is that by believing in Jesus one gets to heaven. Jesus said no one goes to God the Father but by me. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Whether Rush has appropriated this to himself by repenting of his sin and inviting Jesus into his heart I don’t know. The Sunday school class, which I once attended did not think so. Laura Ingram said of James Dobson that she wasn’t sure about those who determine the Christianity of others when Dobson said Fred Thompson wasn’t a Christian This shows she is not Christian. Sean Hannity seems to think that most everyone is a Christian. His criterion for who is a Christian does not seem to be Scripturally-based.

There is a God; He is self-existent, all-powerful, holy, just, faithful, loving, jealous, all-knowing, good, wise, and concerned about His creation. Not acquitting sinners, yet desiring that no one should perish. Every word He says is important for it is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” God is triune yet one. God is one spirit, which is capable of being everywhere at the same time and indwelling many individuals simultaneously. Those who obey God’s Word live and those who choose to disobey God’s Word die. Adam and Eve both chose to disobey God’s Word and died. Today we are all born dead, separated from God.

God promised Adam and Eve that someone would destroy Satan. That person was Jesus of Nazareth. God in His mercy sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to do for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. He lived a sinless life, fulfilled the law and took in His own body the sins of all mankind and received from God His wrath for all people. Then He said it is finished and gave up His spirit at the time of His choosing. Three days later He rose from the dead. For those who ask God’s forgiveness and repent of their sins in the name of Jesus, the Spirit of God comes into their heart (brain) and gives them eternal life.

It is the entering into ones heart by the Spirit of God in the name of Jesus that makes one a Christian. This is the born again experience which is also referred to as being saved. Paul writes that unless you have the Spirit of Christ you ado not belong to Christ. An example was the man who went into the temple and would not so much as look up into heaven but beat upon his chest and prayed, “Lord be merciful to me a sinner.” Jesus said this man went home justified.

How about you? Are you born again? Have you ever invited Jesus into your heart? A sample prayer is: “Lord Jesus Christ please forgive me of my wrongdoing, my evil, my proclivity to sin and please come onto my heart.” To find out more please click here.
