Here's a belated recognition of the first anniversary of ObamaCare, the federal government takeover of the American Health Care industry. I will quote a couple of excerpts from an article, "ObamaCare's Annual check-up: Ailing, to Get Worse," which I recently read in the May 9th issue of The New American magazine.

Of course, somebody has to pay for all those new taxes and benefits (in ObamaCare). And those somebodies won't be insurers or drug firms. They be American patients.

Just as there were payoffs to get the bill passed, the government in deciding who among its allies can be relieved of burdens of the new regulation. Waivers have been granted to more than 1,000 (now around 1,400) sponsors of health plans -- with the largest being the heavily Democrat United federation of Teachers Welfare Fund in New York, with some 351,000 enrolled in its plan. Others granted waivers from the red tape and added costs include the AFL-CIO and SEIU.

Ironically, those same seekers of waivers were some of the most voracious and vociferous supporters of that terrible legislation throughout the process to insure its passage. What is good for the goose is not necessiarly good for the rest of America. ObamaCare must be dismantled and defunded. It would better to title it Insuring Unaffordable Health Care and Punish the Patient Act.

The leftist leadership in the executive and the legislative branches of government does not care about health care reform or even in improving the lot of the majority of Americans. They want power. They want central control of the citizenry. President Soetoro aka Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Reid lie when they allege that the reason why it is important to pass ObamaCare is to reduce the deficit. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Healthcare reform is absolutely necessary, but it will not be accomplished through a government takeover of another industry, which makes up 1/6 of the economy. The government has no business in areas such as micromanaging healthcare or education. Socialized medicine or nationalizing the healthcare industry has never worked, and it won't work here.

What the government could do is to eliminate the barriers to free market competition. This would reduce costs. This would bring about real healthcare reform. We need to open up the market for health insurance plans to be sold across state lines. We need to begin to privatize some of the federal programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Simultaneously, we need tort reform.

Above all, we need to work toward REDUCING the national debt and deficits, and not INCREASING it with another government program!

ALG Condemns House for Approving $2.1 Trillion "Takeover of Nation's Health Care System"

November 7th, 2009, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today condemned the House of Representatives for voting to approve "$2.1 trillion takeover of the nation's entire health care sector in spite of overwhelming public opposition to the measure."

Americans for Limited Government estimates the legislation will cost $2.1 trillion over ten years once fully implemented, and "will drive millions Americans off of private, employer-based health care, on to substandard, below-average government-run care, and open the door for a single payer system," said Wilson.

The final vote was 220 to 215.

"This Congress is rotten to its core," said Wilson, adding, "Members no longer represent their constituents, they serve the Washington political elite. They have succumbed to the insider deals, handouts, and kickbacks Nancy Pelosi needed to secure the votes for the federal government to claim an iron grip of one-sixth of the nation's economy."

Citing the Congressional Budget Office cost estimate of H.R. 3962, Wilson said, "This bill will raise taxes by more than $780 billion and cut Medicare by more than $450 billion. In the process, they are enraging political independents and seniors, both critical voting blocs for whom dozens of vulnerable members in the majority must answer to."

"Members that voted for this abomination have signed a political suicide pact for which they will be held accountable," Wilson declared. "They have gone against the express will of their constituents who opposed this legislation."

The bill would force millions of uninsured Americans to obtain insurance or else pay a fine, includes employer mandates, and creates a national, government-run "public option." Americans for Limited Government estimates more than 45 million Americans would ultimately be required to enroll in government care at an average cost of $4,700 per individual to taxpayers.

"As health care costs skyrocket because of the elimination of the private sector health options contained in this bill, so too will the costs owed by taxpayers, resulting in hundreds of billions of deficit-spending," said Wilson. "Because insurance under the plan is mandatory, the more private insurers that are driven out of business by diminishing insurance pools, the more Americans who will be forced onto government-run and subsidized care."

"This bill will ration care away from seniors, water down and reduce the quality of everyone's care, increase health premiums, put bureaucrats between doctors and patients, break the public treasury, and leave taxpayers with a bill that cannot possibly be paid back," Wilson added.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 54 percent of voters oppose the "public option" proposed, which only 42 percent support. In addition, James Carville's Democracy Corps polls found a full 54 percent of seniors oppose the nationalized health care plan. According to the poll conducted in June, 41 percent of seniors strongly oppose the Obama plan and only 14 percent strongly favor it.

"To pass this monstrosity on the heels of Tuesday's overwhelming election results against her party, Nancy Pelosi has clearly lost her mind and needs to check her meds. She doesn't care if vulnerable members in her caucus are wiped out in 2010 or not," Wilson said.

"Democrats are throwing away seniors as a political constituency," Wilson added, stating in conclusion, "They are enraging independents, who see their children and children's children being burdened with an unsustainable debt that will rise to $20 trillion in 2020 and top the Gross Domestic Product in 2011. And taking over health care against the express wishes of tens of millions of Americans who like their private health options and want to keep them."

COMMENT

Having made it one of the top agenda items along with the economy-killing Cap and Trade (Tax) on their socialist takeover of this nation, Nancy Pelosi and (Barry Soetoro a/k/a) Barack Obama are rejoicing in their victory today. Our own home grown axis of evil, Pelosi-Reid-Obama, doesn’t really care about the people of America, what they care about only is power. They are socialists and want unfettered, absolute control. This is merely another step in the direction of freedom-killing enslavement of the population.

I contacted two Democratic members of the Ohio Congressional delegation, John Boccieri (OH-16) and Zach Space (OH-18) this week. I urged them both to vote against PelosiCare. One listened and one did not. Rep. Boccieri voted NO, but Rep. Space voted YES. With that vote, Mr. Space, signed his termination slip. Someone must pay a price politically for this horrible vote. That Someone is Zach Space and the other 219 members who voted AYE on this horrendous bill.

A SPONTANEOUS RESPONSE

Monday, November 2, 2009. I was driving my truck listening to Rush Limbaugh. He said something about a rally at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, November 5th. Rush related information he received from Michele Bachmann. Earlier, I heard something about this on the Glenn Beck show earlier, but hadn’t paid much attention to it.

I listened when I heard Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-MN-6, said that Congress wasn’t paying attention to the calls and letters from the people regarding healthcare or much of anything else. She related that if we showed up at the Capitol Building in Washington, we could persuade Congress not to pass the horrible healthcare bill. I thought that it may be worth my going. I talked to my brother and a few others, but only my brother took an interest and expressed a willingness to go.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009. I delivered the load of steel that I was carrying. My brother heard on Glen Beck’s Radio Show that a bus was leaving from Mansfield, Ohio going to Washington, D.C. We rere prepared to drive on our own before we heard about the bus trip.

My brother found the information about the bus trip from http://www.bloodofpatriots.org, the website of the Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association, and reserved seats for us.

Wednesday, November 3, 2009. After having dinner with GregJaye at Denny’s in Mansfield, Ohio my brother and I boarded the bus for the District of Corruption (D.C.) just after midnight on Thursday.

Thursday, November 4, 2009. We arrived in Washington, D.C. at around 9:00 AM after the all-night bus ride. It was rough on us.

REINFORCEMENTS ARRIVE ON THE BATTLEFRONT

We took the Metro into Washington.

Once there we noticed a large police presence. After all weren’t we a part of the mob, the domestic terrorists labeled or libeled as such by Homeland Securtity?

We didn’t really know where to go and somehow ended up behind the Capital building. The police directed us to where the rally was being held, that was in front of the Capitol Building. A whole lot of people had already arrived there by 10:30 in the morning.

We stood there until we saw a well dressed group of Congressmen filing out of the Capitol building walking apparently toward where the speakers were about to make their presentations.

PRAYER, A PRIORITY

I was so impressed at the fact that the press conference or rally or Tea Party or whatever it was to be called started with prayer. It was a real prayer to a real God. A God who has been asked to leave the public arena by many of those now in control of our government.

SHOW OF FORCE

The police, halfway up the Capitol stairs, carrying loaded M-16 rifles and had guns also impressed me. What was the ‘mob’ going to do, storm the Capitol?

THE SPEAKERS

Every speaker and speech was excellent. I was absolutely inspired, uplifted and encouraged by the messages. Both the content and truth spoken was all good.

Likewise, our 20-50K strong presence there in Washington and on such spontaneous and short notice encouraged the Congressional members much. It strengthened them to fight the Obama-Pelosi-Reid triumvirate’ socialistic power grab.

The Republicans humbly acknowledged that they did not have the votes to stop the leftist Pelosi and friends from passing any bill.

The Republicans in Congress could not defeat the healthcare ‘reform’ bill on their own. They needed the help of their fellow countrymen. My brother and I were part of the 20-50K Minutemen and Minutewomen who came to their sides on this glorious day.

The Republicans vowed to work on Democrats to sway them to vote against the hurtful healthcare ‘reform’ bill and other tainted legislation.

What was the motivation for this great and spontaneous event? Michele Bachmann had heard a decorated soldier speak about the unwillingness of Congress to do the right thing until they hear from the American people directly. Congresswoman Bachmann took up the idea and called for Americans across the country to rally at the Capitol on November 5th after the transforming elections of November 3rd where two Republicans blew away Democratic candidates for Gubernatorial seats in purple Virginia and blue New Jersey.

My brother and I were convinced that it was worth the effort to stop this awful monstrous healthcare bill. I gave up three days of work or $600 of earned income to go. However, the excursion was worth both our time and treasure, if it helped to stop the bill from going forward.

CONSERVATIVE CONGRESS MEMBERS IMPRESS

I was struck by the sight of the Conservative Congressmen and Congresswomen coming down form the hill to shake the hands and greet the people. It made me fell welcome. I felt good standing with these men and women against the likes of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

CLOSING IN PRAYER

At the end of all the speeches and the Healthcare Tea Party, they prayed again. I was impressed with the fact that they prayed.

TAKING ACTION

We were all invited to meet the Congress members in their offices. We were physically exhausted and because of the huge lines, and because we had to catch our bus at 6:00 PM we decided not to stand in line, but head back toward the Metro.

We feel, Lord willing, that the bill will be defeated and our efforts would have been worth the time, treasure and energy we expended.

I joined the U.S. Army twice. I fought against Communism in a foreign country. Now I did what I could to stop this attempt by Communists to take over our own government stealthy. Most Democrats and some Republicans are themselves part of the Communist, Socialist, Nazi threat to overthrow this nation. That is why I joined the Army decades ago, to stop Communism.

ENEMIES WITHIN

What we have now is a new Nazi takeover of this nation. Rush Limbaugh calls Obama, Pelosi and Reid new Nazis. "Nazi" in 20th Century Germany stood for national socialism, in 21st Century America it stands for national socialists. That is what we have here. This is what Obama is bringing to the United States.

The Bath Party in Iraq were Islamic Nazis. Saddam Hussein presided over a socialist government. This is what Barack Hussein Obama is attempting to do. Furthermore, he is wanting to take it internationally. not only nationally since he is a citizen of this world.

What outright audacity on the part of this pretentious pretend-President to make a statement like the one above! Obviously, he fully believes all of the media’s hype about himself. During the past two years the opposition media (ABC, AP, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, Newsweek, New York Times, PBS, et al.) made him out to be some sort of a messiah!

Just a couple of comments about the about quote.

Firstly, when you, Mr. President, said in talking to the 'ministers' about your so-called healthcare reform plan, "We are God's partners in matters of life and eath," what God are you talking about, sir? It certainly is not the God of the Judeo-Christian Bible. It certainly was not the God of George Washington, John Hancock or Patrick Henry. That only leaves the god of this world, who is the great deceiver. Now, that is the only rational conclusion that makes any sense.

By the alleged President's actions, we know who his father is. It can only be one of two persons either God the Father, or the Father of Lies. In Barry Soetoro alias Barack Obama's case, it is definitely the latter. Furthermore, the true God does not need a partner, He is quite capable of meeting needs and meeting out justice without the assistance of any man, including a super-sized egotistical elite heathen like Soetoro/Obama.

One commenter on the National Politics Forum on Cleveland.com, where this conversation first started, called my responses above, laughable. In turn, I responded telling him that he would not be laughing when he’s sixty-five and finds himself in need of healthcare under ObamaCare or its iteration!

Secondly, neither politicians, bureaucrats, the courts, nor the government itself has any role in making healthcare decisions which determine who lives and who dies. That is solely God's venue and prerogative. However, Soetoro/Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, however, want government to assume this ultimate control over the American population. That is tyranny. That is a socialistic state. And that is what this conflict is all about. Do we allow the government to continue to rip and rob our individual freedoms from us, like they did in Roe vs. Wade in making even life a right which government can take away? Or do we draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough? That is what the TEA Party Movement, that is what this summer's Town Hall Meetings are all about. We need to make a choice between freedom and liberty versus slavery and tyranny. I choose life. I choose liberty. I choose being able to pursue happiness on my terms and on my God's terms, not on the state's terms!

Finally, just as the second cartoon above illustrates, ObamaCare also assures the death of medical innovation, where our free enterprise based healthcare system has succeeded so well compared to the rest of the world.

10. PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. President (Soetoro a/k/a) Obama has repeatedly said that "no insurance company will be allowed to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing medical condition." That sounds wonderful until you apply common sense, which is in short supply in Washington. What if we made a law that allowed you to buy car insurance after you got into an accident and that required the insurance company to pay for the damage? Wouldn’t many people just wait for an accident before buying insurance? Why wouldn’t many Americans wait until they were sick to buy health insurance?

Driehaus is wavering on H.R. 3200. He is concerned about the way the plan is going to be paid for, but agrees with the basic principle of a “public option”. (But he also says doesn’t believe that the plan will add to the deficit. Huh?) He blames Reagan the Bush tax cuts for the deficit.

He says that if he does vote for it and it passes, he will go on the “public option” like everyone else. (Let’s be sure to hold him to it.) He is not fazed by the fact that people would have pay extra taxes if they refused to go on the plan.

He just doesn't get it that whole idea of government getting involved in healthcare is a bad idea. He argues that a "public option" is needed in markets where there is no competition. He doesn't get that government regulations have caused the lack of competition in these markets.

Even though he says he is against funding of abortion, but seems to shrug off the question and does not say that he wouldn’t vote for it if it does have any abortion funding in it. He doesn’t understand that we know that if taxpayer money is going into the hands of murders, it doesn’t matter whether or not the money is specifically allocated for that purpose. The result is the same.

Someone asked about funding of healthcare for illegal aliens. He responded by saying that there are already laws which force hospitals to admit illegals into emergency. He tells some story about an illegal alien pregnant woman and that no good Catholic would turn such a person away. Of course, it may be that no good Catholic would personally turn such a person away, but this has nothing to do forcing people to pay taxes for a government. And the healthcare bill being considered, would of course, provide healthcare for illegal aliens in non-emergency situations.

9. RACIAL PREFERENCES. Do you care about the race of a doctor who is getting ready to operate on you? Of course not. Most Americans want their doctor to be the best professional available regardless of race or ethnic background. But congressional liberals have a different idea. On page 909 of the House bill, grants to medical schools will be awarded "to entities that have a demonstrated record of the following...training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or disadvantaged backgrounds." ObamaCare: Abortion's Trojan Horse

This morning I heard on the news that the President is willing to drop the public option requirement in his so-called healthcare reform plan. Pressure is mounting in opposition to this unneeded and grossly flawed plan. There is more wrong with the plan than just the public option. He still is intent on passing healthcare 'reform' yet this year.

Following the abominable action of Notre Dame University earlier this year, when its administration invited radically pro-death President Soetoro a/k/a Obama to deliver its commencement address and to receive an honorary doctorate degree, other Catholic organizations are attempting to outdo the school in terms of atrocious behavior. Earlier this month, several large and influential Catholic social and health organizations encouraged their members to support the current ObamaCare supposed healthcare reform bill.

"Why would Catholic Charities USA do this? Well guess what, 5 days after endorsing ObamaCare, Catholic Charities USA, got its first ever federal contract worth $100 million dollars. In other words, JUDAS just got paid! ---American Life League (ALL), August 9, 2009

Catholic Charities USA, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and the Catholic Health Association have all thrown their weight behind (President Soetoro a/k/a) Obama's push for health care reform. “The authors of the ObamaCare bill knew full well that any mention of abortion or Planned Parenthood [gregjaye: the biggest and billion-dollar abortion provider in America] would create an uproar from the majority Pro-Life population of the country. So they created a TROJAN HORSE.

Page 30, Section 123 creates yet another bureaucratic entity called the Health Benefits Advisory Committee whose job it is to define the benefits standards that any plan, public or private must contain. This committee, chaired by the Surgeon General, is the VEHICLE being created by Obama and his cronies, to claim that abortion is NOT in the ObamaCare Bill, while enabling them to [gregjaye: stealthily and conveniently] insert it into the Plan once it is passed

This is exactly why (Soetoro alias) Obama, Pelosi, and Peter Orszag have deliberately dodged whether abortion would be covered under the bill.

On Fox News Mike Wallace asked Peter Orszag (Director of Management and Budget) whether he was prepared to say government taxpayer-funded health insurance plan that no taxpayer money would go to pay for abortions. Orszag’s reply, “Ahhh, I think that will wind up being part of the debate. I am not prepared to say ahhh explicitly right now,

Pelosi: That’s not, that’s not, that’s not the issue. The issue is people go out there to . . .we’ll be working on that issue . . .

(Soetoro aka) Obama: You know, what I think is important at this stage is not trying to micromanage what benefits are covered . . .

Now you know why Henry Waxman held an emergency session late in the night to strike down the amendment that would bar the commission from being included abortion in the benefits.

“But the TROJAN HORSE Commission isn’t the only section hiding the culture of death.

“Pages 769-777 contain a section (Section 1714) “State Eligibility Option for Family Planning Services.” We all know that “family planning is code for birth control and abortion. So when the bill refers to “family Planning services” in “family planning settings,” we all know that the author is talking about ABORTION INDUSTRIALISTS like Planned Parenthood!

“Now, given this blatant attempt to sneak ABORTION into the package, you can understand why Catholics are OUTRAGED by the support that Catholic Charities USA, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Catholic Health Association (CHA) are giving ObamaCare.

"In their action alerts these groups told members and supporters:

The House of Representatives introduced a health care reform bill yesterday afternoon members of Congress are debating this week. . . . Your members of Congress need to hear form you that you SUPPORT healthcare reform, and that the system needs to be reformed now.

"The Catholic Health (Hospitals, etc.) Association (CHA) even produced a video, which begins with a a clip of (Soetoro aka) Obama rallying Congress to support his healthcare plan, and the de Paul Society posted the video on its website.

“Why? Why would Catholic Charities do this? Well guess what, 5 days after endorsing ObamaCare, Catholic Charities USA, got its first ever federal contract worth $100 million dollars. In other words, JUDAS just got paid!"

COMMENT

I looked at all three Catholic organizations' websites, which ALL referred to in their video. I found evidence that on one side of their proverbial mouths they support current healthcare 'reform' and on the other they oppose any reform that includes abortion, conscience protection or senicide (euthanizing or premature killing of elderly). It is unclear where they really stand. It reminds me of the fuzzy positions of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) in terms of abortion and homosexuality under one of their former leaders Richard Cizak. (1) Catholics need to call their Bishops and ask them to tell Catholic Charities, Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, and Catholic Health Association (CHA) that they must NOT support or in any way support (Soetoro alias) Obama’s Death Care Bill . . . (see www.Canon915.org)

7. THE PEOPLE ARE BEING IGNORED. According to a recent poll, just 23% of voters believe healthcare reform legislation will lower costs, while 53% believe it will lead to more expensive care. By a margin of 50% to 23%, voters believe that "reform" legislation will make the quality of care decline. And while voters believe they will get worse care at higher costs, 78% also believe that healthcare reform will result in middle class tax hikes. In addition, a recent Fox News poll found that 91% of those surveyed have health insurance, 84% said that the quality of their health insurance was either excellent or good and 83% said the quality of health care they receive from their private insurance is either good or excellent. And only 12% of those surveyed said reforming health care was the most important issue Congress should be working on right now. 6. QUALITY CARE. American healthcare is better than that in European countries with socialized medicine. The German breast cancer mortality rate is 52% higher than in the United States. Prostate cancer mortality is 604% higher in the United Kingdom and 457% higher in Norway than in the United States. Canadian healthcare lags behind the United States too. Canadian patients wait twice as long to see a specialist for hip surgery or cancer than we do in the United States. Most Americans say they are satisfied with the U.S. health care system, but more than 70% of Germans, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders and Britons say that their systems need "fundamental change" or "complete rebuilding." In an editorial on July 26th, the Washington Post criticized President Obama for not "leveling about the consequences of change" when it comes to healthcare costs versus quality. Here's what the Post wrote: "The Congressional Budget Office estimates that new technology accounts for about half the increase in health-care costs over the past several decades. This, for the most part, is a good thing. Adjusted for inflation, health-care spending per person is six times what it was 40 years ago. But no one today would settle for 1960s-style medicine."

Question for your Congressmen: Why are you trying to force us in the direction of more government involvement in healthcare when everywhere government-run healthcare has been tried, quality declines and care is rationed?

U.S. Rep. John Boccieri, a close shave

All the local dignitaries, maybe a 100 or so people in all, came to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Barbasol (shaving lotion) plant in Ashland, Ohio. There were at least two state representatives and one state senator present along with U.S. Congressman John Boccieri. In addition there were two dozen or so patriots, many were members of local area tea party groups.

The protesters and their signs were there to bring to Boccieri’s attention as well as the public’s attention our grave concern for his yes vote for the Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade (Tax) Bill as well as his planned vote for ObamaCare, H.R. 3200, America's Affordable Health Care Act of 2009.

As I passed a group of gentlemen along the side of the road I heard one mention “local rightwingers” in describing the group of folks on the opposite side of the street from the dedication ceremonies for the new Barbasol plant. The protesters were very respectful and were very happy that a new American plant was coming to the area. They were not so happy about what Boccieri is doing and about to do in Congress . . . Unlike the two state representatives and the state senator, Boccieri did not approach the protesters, like many Democrat politicians they would rather not face the unpleasant music.

5. MORE BURDENS ON SMALL BUSINESSES. Despite a 9.5% (and rising) unemployment rate, the healthcare bill in the House imposes a new 8% payroll tax on small businesses with payrolls of $400,000 or more that don't provide health insurance for their employees. This is in addition to the current 15% payroll tax. What this means is that any employer with a payroll of $400,000 dollars or higher will have to pay at least 25% above the salary just to hire someone. Common sense tells you that any struggling small business will likely lay off workers to avoid this additional tax. On the other hand, if the tax is cheaper than the cost of health insurance, larger businesses may opt to cancel their health insurance, forcing employees into the government’s "public option," and simply pay the 8% fine. Question for your Congressmen: Why are you imposing additional mandates and taxes on small businesses, which create the overwhelming majority of new jobs, in the middle of a severe recession?

4. RATIONING CARE. According to a July 15th report by The Hill, "The House bill would be paid for by roughly $500 billion in Medicare and Medicaid cuts..." These "cuts" would come as millions of Americans are retiring. Logic suggests that if we are "cutting" hundreds of billions of dollars healthcare would have to be limited or rationed in someway to accommodate more people. And seniors would be most affected by Medicare cuts.

In addition, advisers to President Obama, such as Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, have suggested that healthcare should be rationed to certain individuals. Dr. Emanuel once wrote that "services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens...should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia." (Source: The Hastings Center)

Question for your Congressmen: How can government promise to do more with less? Will you oppose any healthcare reform bill that in any way limits my access to healthcare or medicines recommended by my doctor?
