I Hate Christmas, But There are Alternatives

Once again, its time to celebrate the Roman Winter Solstice, the holiday that has been disguised by the Roman Catholic Church as being a Christian holiday.  Jesus is not "the reason for the season".  Christmas is for Sun worshipers,  not Son worshipers!  Its a holiday for suckers!  The Roman Catholic Church just took the Roman temples and changed the names of their idols into the names of Christian saints so that the idol worshipers could keep worshiping their idols and so that Christians would be fooled into thinking that it was a good thing.  The Pope's mitre comes from the Philistine god Dagon--it is not a Christian symbol.  Somehow, most of these paganisms were not carried over into Protestantism, but the celebrating Easter and the Roman Winter Solstice persisted for some reason.

Today the Christmas holiday is used by retailers to take advantage of well-meaning, but deceived Christians.  Every year Christian preachers tell their congregations that they need to not get caught up in all the hustle and bustle, commercialism, and over-preparation for this unholy day and that instead they should remember the real reason for Christmas.  But by perpetuating the celebration of the Roman Winter Solstice, they themselves participate in the societal pressure to keep the useless time-consuming and money-consuming traditions of this terrible holiday.  Most gifts that are given at Christmas are not given out of love, but peer pressure.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJV)

But there are alternatives to Sun worshiping.
16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. 18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zechariah 14:16-19 (KJV)

The King mentioned in the above passage is Yahshua Messiah (Jesus Christ).  The time that this prophecy will be fulfilled is yet to come because it wasn't until after New Testament that Jerusalem's walls were completed as partially described in Zechariah 14:10, and the war mentioned in verse 16 has not yet taken place.  Furthermore this war will be concluded with cleaving of the Mount of Olives which is a clear reference to the physical return of Messiah neither of which has taken place.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Zechariah 14:4 (KJV)

Some people think that Yahshua (Jesus) was born during the Feast of Tabernacles and that there are signs in the observance of it which point to Yahshua's birth.  It is also possible that this observance was the real origin of the original Thanksgiving holiday.  I have no opinion about these one way or the other, but it clearly would be much better to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and observe its traditions, rather than the traditions of a pagan holiday.  It is much more clear that Passover and the Feast of Firstfruits (which are two days apart) are for the remembrance of the death and resurrection of Yahshua Messiah (see 1 Corinthians 15:20-24).   If you would like to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, read Leviticus 23:33-44, Deuteronomy 16:16, and Nehemiah 8:14-18.  Yahshua also celebrated this feast (John 7:10).

The only redeeming tradition of the Christmas holiday is the singing of carols (the ones which are actually about Yeshua and are Biblically correct).  This tradition could carried over into any part of year (minus the songs about Santa Claus, reindeer, snowmen, bells and so forth) and all the rest of the Christmas junk could be completely forgotten as far as I'm concerned.

Shootings Around America

Lessons to be Learned!

Hopefully, we will learn some valuable lessons from the recent mall shooting in Omaha, Nebraska and the church shooting in Colorado Springs.

(1) Gun control is not the answer. Free exercise of the right to bear arms for any citizen who qualifies is the greatest deterrent to crime. This was true at the time of our nations’ founding and it is even truer today. The only people who are “controlled” under gun-control laws are law abiding citizens. Criminals and “crackpots” will always find a way to obtain guns by hook or by crook by golly. We need more, not less, armed citizens to discourage or to stop the Robert Hawkins or the Matthew Murrays in their tracks. Where all guns are banned like the Virginia Polytechnic Institute a killer can have a field day killing who he pleases.

The antidote to increasing crime is to encourage citizens to take up arms and to learn the proper respect for and use of guns as the ultimate self-defense technique.

(2) No place is sacred anymore, not even our churches. In an ever secularized, and growing pagan America we are becoming like many other godless nations around and before us. This situation is the direct result of the attempt by anti-American and anti-Christian forces to “confine” or banish God to the stained glass buildings on Sunday and let the fanatics have their our of power . . . We have kicked Him out of the schools, courtrooms, government, businesses and public square. We daily violate His precepts and principles for successful living and we wonder why this violence is happening to us in our school houses, street corners, our shopping malls and in now even in our houses of worship!

The antidote is, as a nation as individuals, to again acknowledge God and to encourage the right to express the freedom of worship and religion everywhere. We as a society must mitigate and repair the damage that the fallacious “separation of church and state” concept and doctrine has caused America in recent decades. God must be brought back to a nation that openly and proudly calls itself, “One Nation Under God.” We need to take that slogan off the paper and put it into our everyday lives and actions

(3) We have allowed the culture of death to grip our society. Since 1973 and even earlier we have devalued human life through the erroneous belief that human beings are mere animals, the product of random chance and evolutionary processes. The abhorrent practice of abortion and the vain, senseless and fruitless pursuit of embryonic stem cell research are examples of devaluing life. As a society we have allowed the academic elite to lead us astray in believing man the end all and be all. We have forgotten that all our rights come from God.

The antidote is to pass the life begins at conception act languishing in congress and to begin again to respect human life from birth until natural death.

These are but a few of the many lessons must learn and take to heart from all of these recent tragedies. God is giving us a second chance. We need to turn away from the broad path that is leading us to sure destruction and must get back on the narrow way that leads to life, both as a nation and individually.

Apocalypto (2006)

A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within. W Durant

The quote above is flashed on the screen at the start of the movie, Apocalypto. Who would have expected that those few words would be the only understandable words in the entire two hour movie? The actors and actresses spoke in Mayan throughout the movie.

Well here I go reviewing another Mel Gibson film. Mel Gibson is a talented actor and director. Most of his movies are thoughtful and inspiring, but tend to be a bit violent (Braveheart, the Patriot).

Apocalypto provides a little bit of a glimpse of an ancient civilization. Despite the Mayan’s great achievements and innovations, at its core it was or became corrupt. Use of slaves to build its country and its godless human sacrifice are some of the reasons for its ultimate demise.

The movie depicts a raid on one peaceful Mayan village by the rulers of the Mayan in a nearby city. The story revolves around the plundering of the village and the murder or enslavement of the people. Particularly it is the story of one brave young man, who for the love of his expectant wife and young son, escapes his captures and tries to get back to his wife who he left behind.

We are provided a view village life and the decadence and absolute power of the wicked evil elite of the city who inflict all sorts of harm on their own people. They not only enslave and mistreat them, but they even cut open the hearts of some of their captors in order to offer those hearts in sacrifice to the Sun god or whatever god or gods they worshipped. I could not help but compare the elite of the Mayan city to the liberal socialist elites in America who crave for the absolute power to mold society into an anti-God anti-American image and reshaped into Soviet Union-like society or a part of a grand global socialist utopia, which has elitists exercise control over everyone else.

RATING
.
gregjaye gives this movie **** out of *****. Because of the graphic content especially of the scenes of brutal killing and sacrifice, I recommend this movie for adult only viewing. The movie was realistic. The cinematography was excellent. The movie was fast paced and interesting.

I think that Gibson captures the flavor of what this great but mostly amoral society was is reality. Like the Mayan culture, America made great advances and was also once a great nation. However, America like the Mayan society, began to worship the god of greed and lust. In 1973 America began to permit and perform human sacrifice. We allow the sacrifice of our babies to the god of convenience, pleasure and expediency.

She is allowing herself to be destroyed from within, while her sons and daughters are fighting terrorism in the Middle East, Foolishly she is allowing terrorists intermingled in the massive invasion of illegal aliens, which is because the Bush Administration and Congress are complicit in permitting unsecured [open borders. We are on the way of the Mayans, Aztecs, Rome and Greece – extinction - unless we repent individually and nationally from our evil ways and turn once again to the one true God and Jesus Christ.
