Do you love America This Much?

“I do this because I love America,” answered Kathy Boggs in answer to the question why does she conducts her monthly protest at the busy corner of Lexington-Springmill  and West 4th Street in Ontario, Ohio.

The Morrow County resident travels to the Mansfield area almost every month on the first Saturday of the month to show her support for the ideals that made America great, the important issues of the day and to support President Donald Trump.  This month she was joined by her mother, along with men from Richland, Crawford and Morrow counties, Bob, Jim and Greg.  Kathy held signs and the American flag and waved to passers-by.  The men held various signs.

One sign read, “Pray for President Trump, Sunday, June 2” which was a call that Franklin Graham and 250 other Christian leaders made to all Christians in America asking them to spend some time on Sunday praying for the President. The President is under extreme pressure from his many enemies including the Democrat Party, the media, Hollywood, many activist judges, Russia, China, North Korea, Iran among others.

As she was setting up her display of American flags and various signs, she had a few unexpected visitors including a woman visiting the Mansfield area for the summer. The woman hailed from the very liberal land of Washington State. She was so impressed with the positive message that she displayed that she stopped and talked with the organizer.  She also expressed an interested on helping Kathy sometime this summer.

Additionally Ms. Boggs display attracted a man, Alexander, from down under, Australia!  He was staying at a motel down the road and was planning to leave the next morning (Sunday). His request was if Kathy knew where he could find a “Make America Great Again” cap and tee shirts to take back with him to Australia. Imagine that, there are foreigners who are more patriotic than many of the passengers in cars driving by who gave protesters the middle finger, who were demonstrably unimpressed with the messages being displayed.

Is President Trump a Patriot?

AlterNet is a far-leftist website, which posted the following article yesterday (Monday), "Trump's Phony Patriotism With the Radical Roots of America the Beautiful and the Pledge of Allegiance."

My initial response to this provocative article was:
Which is worse, my leftist friends, "Phony Patriotism" or Being Unpatriotic?
I received two responses, one from Hughie the Sailor, who commented:
That is such an emotionally charged and politically loaded term: "patriotism." Americans use it more than you claim that Canadians say "sorry". What do you mean by "patriot"?”

I then made the following comments, which were apparently censored by the website administrators, because I did not see them after I submitted them:

My first response (apparently deleted):
    pa·tri·ot ˈpātrēət/
noun

a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.
It seems to me that President Trump in his stated quest "To Make   America Great Again" personifies what it means to be patriotic. Mr. Trump ·       wants to put America first;·       wants to carefully and completely vet Muslims coming from Islam-inspired terrorist harboring countries;·       wants to secure our borders by building an impenetrable wall;·       wants to rebuild and strengthen our military to better defend our country;·       respects our veterans;·       rejects political correctness that has weakened our country;·       respecting the Constitution with appointment of a SCOTUS justice who is doesn't believe that it is a 'living' constitution that can be changed at the whim of the court;·       wants to control spending and minimize debt ...
To me this part of what it means to be patriotic.
My second response (apparently deleted, too):

I quoted Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower who said, “We must never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion.”

American Sniper (2014), a Review

I’m very selective as to the movies I watch and especially those that I pay to see in a movie theater. I saw American Sniper last evening upon the ‘recommendation’ of movie critic and obese movie maker Michael Moore. If that radical leftist didn’t like the movie, then it surely must be a good one. It was.

The Saturday prime time movie crowd filled the theater to 90%-plus capacity, as it has all over the nation. The movie is quite riveting and realistic, maybe too much so  in parts. Violence and sailor language permeates the movie. However, that is an accurate reflection of military life. The movie is definitely meant for adults.

The movie gives the viewer a peek at the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It follows the life of a famed Navy Seal sniper, Chris Kyle. The movie alternates between shots of him a home in the United States and him at work in Iraq. A couple particular moving events in the movie are when he is faced with having to shoot a young boy and his mother who are on a suicidal mission to destroy U.S. Marines with a grenade.   He reluctantly had to decide whether to shoot them or not. In another similar incident he held his fire until a young boy dropped a rocket propelled grenade laucher (RPG) that he picked up after Kyle killed the Islamist terrorist who was about to shoot at a Marine convoy.

Another series of scenes that stuck out to me was the battle within a battle between the ace Islamic terrorist sniper and the American sniper, Kyle. Over the course of much of the movie the battle plays out with the Islamist sniper getting the best of Kyle for the most part.

In his four tours of duty Kyle had some serious ups and downs at home relating with his wife and children. A lot of trouble came from his inability to leave Iraq mentally and emotionally. He was driven by some degree of revenge for what the Islamic terrorists did to some of his fellow combatants.

Kyle’s life was forever impacted at the end of the movie by a troubled veteran, who Kyle was trying to help.

Clint Eastwood directed and produced the movie. He is one of my favorite actors and he does a great job with this movie. The acting of Bradley Cooper as Kyle was also commendable. The movie is a five-star movie. I would recommend it for every adult citizen.

It is more educational than it is pure entertainment. It is educational as far as portraying with historical accuracy and graphic representation what America and the entire Western world facea in dealing with the corrupt nature of Islam and its most ardent and observant followers.  It delves into the life of a patriot American, who is willing to sacrifice his life and all that is important to him to preserve the freedom for which America is known and admired.

Don Feder's Ten Pillars of True Patriotism

This the second article that received from GrassTopsUSA, which I chose to reprint. It is a great outline of the important components of Patriotism. I highlight the ten foundational tenets of patriotism according to Bob Feder. The emphasis is mine. These are key elements to the Conservative and TEA Party Movements.

The one thing I see missing from this list, which could easily be included under either "God" or "the Constitution" pillars, is the Right to Life. Abortion is immoral, an affront to any civilized society. It is tantamount to what the ancient pagan Inca people did in sacrificing their children on alters to their gods.

Therefore, I would either elaborate under one or both of the first two pillars the right to life of both the born and the unborn. All of our God-given rights stem this basic right to exist.

TEN PILLARS OF PATRIOTISM
April 3, 2014
By Don Feder

Language-corruption is endemic. Sodomy is an "alternative life style," jihad-murder is "workplace-related violence" and Catholic institutions not providing contraception through their health insurance are part of a "war on women."

Even patriotism doesn't mean what it once did. A patriot used to be Nathan Hale, Andrew Jackson, Sergeant York and Audie Murphy. Now we're told that it's patriotic to support whatever foreign policy idiocy an anti-American administration dreams up.

According to the most recent Pew Research Center survey, 52% completely agree with the statement: "I am very patriotic." Another 36% "mostly agree." But what does this mean? Delving a bit deeper, 69% say they're "very likely" to sing the National Anthem, 59% to display the American flag on their home or car and 53% to attend a public celebration of the 4th of July.

But will America be saved by watching a parade pass by, singing the first verse of the National Anthem off-key or attaching a miniature flag on a car antenna? This is patriotism lite.

There's something called the True Patriot Network which claims patriotism includes class envy ("The wealthy have rigged the game in Washington, so that we pay the rich to get richer"). Karl Marx, true patriot? One of the Network's founder's, Eric Liu (a White House speechwriter for Bill Clinton) is involved with an anti-gun initiative in Washington state. Think of what men with illegal firearms can do – like Lexington and Concord.

What does patriotism really mean? If you say you love America, what are you going to do about it?

Offered for your consideration, 10 Pillars of Patriotism – what the authentic patriot must support to reverse the process of national decline.

       1.  God We are one nation under God, if we are anything at all. America is no accident. We could not have gone from 13 colonies clinging to the Atlantic coast to the preeminent world power in less than 230 years without the guiding hand of Providence. Rights come from God, not government. ("…endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.")

The Bible tells us that if a people turn their back on God, He will turn His face from them. During the darkest days of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln charged: "We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own." George Washington observed : "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens."

A reporter once asked Lincoln if God was on the side of the Union. Our 16th president replied that he had it backward; the question was: Were we on His side. We should strive toward that end.

       2.  The Constitution The federal government is constrained, and rights guaranteed, by the Constitution, as it was written by the Founding Fathers and later amended, and not as interpreted by activist judges or nullified by a presidential pen.

The United States Constitution is the best instrument yet devised to protect human rights, prevent abuses of power and ensure orderly government. If the Declaration of Independence is America's birth certificate, the Constitution is its operating manual.

Elitists hate the fact that the Constitution is impartial – not favoring one group over another – and is concerned primarily with restraining government rather than ordering the affairs of citizens. That's why they're forever telling us that our Constitution is outmoded.

       3.  The Free Market The free market is as American as representative government. It has brought unparalleled prosperity to this nation and opportunity to its citizens. Supply and demand are the best way to allocate resources. The alternative is ideological rigidity or bureaucratic whim.

Private property and free enterprise are also bulwarks against tyranny. As the market has become less free, the liberty of the American people has been diminished. Those who get caught up in envy against the successful miss the point. It's not about what any one of us earns relative to anyone else. The genius of the market is that it allows each of us to reach our potential.

Planned economy versus free economy is the difference between North and South Korea, East and West Germany (before reunification), Cuba and Costa Rica, and the U.S. economy under Reagan and Obama.

       4.  Limited Government America was founded on the idea of limited government, that the state must be confined to certain clearly defined functions. The choice is limited government or government de luxe.

The idea that Washington can force us to buy anything, such as health insurance, is repugnant to the system of government established by the Founders.

Taxes should be limited to paying for the constitutional functions of government. As the welfare state takes more and more of our income (through taxation, regulation and inflation), it robs us of our time, our labor, and ultimately our lives – turning citizens into subjects.

       5.  Fiscal Responsibility A government that consistently lives beyond its means has a short shelf-life. A people that refuse to restrain their appetites is doomed to extinction. The National Debt is the single greatest threat to our nation's prosperity and stability. Interest on the debt consumes an ever greater portion of the federal budget, crowds out business borrowing and diminishes the value of income and savings through inflation.

       Deficit spending is generational theft.

       6.   American Exceptionalism For going on three centuries, America has been the greatest force for good in the world. We gave other nations a model of representative government to follow. Our factories and workshops provided the products and inventions that ushered in the modern age. By dint of our sacrifice, in the 20th. century we twice saved humanity from totalitarian nightmares.

A denial of American exceptionalism is based on ignorance, indoctrination, malice or membership in the Democratic Party.

       7.   Sovereignty With ratification of the Constitution, the American people agreed to be governed by a system of divided authority and balanced powers. Ceding power to the United Nations, NATO or any other international body is a surrender of sovereignty.

A nation that won't defend its borders has also abandoned its sovereignty. Immigration policy must be decided by the American people based on the national interest – not by elites and ethnic lobbies, based on political expediency, a misguided altruism or multicultural fantasies.

       8.  English English is America's language. Along with our common ideals, it's the glue that holds together a diverse people. From the Mayflower Compact to the latest Congressional debates, America's story has been told in English. In the words of Theodore Roosevelt: "We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language…."

With English, we were able to take in tens of millions of immigrants in the past century and a half and successfully integrate them into our way of life, so that their children and grandchildren were as Americans as those whose ancestors came over on the Mayflower.

As we move from being an English-speaking people to a polyglot nation, we become fragmented along ethnic and racial lines. If it continues, the fate of the Austro-Hungarian Empire could be ours. Look at how well bilingualism works in Canada – where the majority is resentful and a separatist minority always wants more. After "press one for English," it should be "press two for national suicide."

       9.  National Security Defending America is a sacred trust. We live in a world of predators – terrorists and barbarians with weapons of mass destruction. Liberty is guarded by men with guns who walk the ramparts.

Liberals have consistently robbed the defense budget to pay for welfare schemes and buy votes, trusting in "multilateralism" and international agencies for our security. In reality, guns trump fantasies every time. Thanks to Obama and his allies, our armed forces are now smaller than before Pearl Harbor – another of which we could be headed for.

Today, our foreign and defense policies are determined by those who have no faith in America and want to see the Republic too weak to act on its own.

       10. The Family Families keep America strong. The family is the cradle of civilization and incubator of civic virtue. Fatherless families are more of a threat to our long-term survival than international terrorism or rogue states.

Anything that undercuts the family weakens America. Divorce, cohabitation, voluntary childlessness and deconstructing the family by bestowing the designation on diverse living arrangements are an attempt to turn the family into a free-form institution and ultimately make it obsolete. Men fight to protect their families, not to advance abstractions. A society made up of atomized individuals is ripe for conquest.

More than displaying the flag or singing the first verse of the Star-Spangled Banner (ersatz patriotism), the authentic patriot understands his country's history, appreciates its uniqueness and is committed to its defense by supporting the forces of unity and fighting those of disintegration.

The patriot is far-sighted. Like the Founding Fathers as they prepared to put pen to paper, the true patriot is instilled with a sense of destiny. Patriotism is a pledge to the past and a promise to the future.

Ronald Reagan spoke of "a rendezvous with destiny." Our greatest president of the 20th century said in his historic 1964 speech: "We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

       Have we?

'I am America' by Krista Branch

.

I am America

Words And Text By Krista Branch

.

[Verse One]
Pay no attention to the people in the street
Crying out for accountability
Make a joke of what we believe
Say we don’t matter ’cause you disagree
Pretend you’re kings, sit on your throne
Look down your nose at the peasants below
I’ve got some news, we’re taking names
We’re waiting now for the judgment day

.

[Chorus]
I am
America, one voice, united we stand
I am
America, one hope to heal our land

There is still work that must be done
I will not rest until we’ve won

I am America

.

[Verse Two]
You preach your tolerance, but lecture me
Is there no end to your own hypocrisy
Your god is power, you have no shame
Your only interest is political gain

You hide your eyes and refuse to listen
You play your games and abuse the system
You stuff your pockets while
Rome is burning
I’ve got a feeling that the tide is turning

.

[Chorus]
I am
America, one voice, united we stand
I am
America, one hope to heal our land

I will not give up on this fight
I will not fade into the light, I am
America

.

[Bridge]
You stuff your pockets while
Rome is burning
I’ve got a feeling that the tide is turning

.

[Chorus]
I am
America, one voice, united we stand
I am
America, one hope to heal our land

.

[Chorus]
I am
America, one voice, united we stand
I am
America, one hope to heal our land

I will not give up on this fight
I will not fade into the night, I a

The puzzlement President!

I needed change for a ten so I stopped by the Shell Gas Station and bought a USA Today Monday. I found the following revolting opinion by an obviously biased Soetoro/Obama supporter from Chicago (where else?). Can you say ACORN? Here is the letter of which I will make my comments:

Palin's support is puzzling

John E. Colbert - Chicago

No better indicator of an educational crisis exists than the fact that Sarah Palin leads the list of potential Republican presidential candidates for 2012. Her apparent popularity also indicates the sorry state of the Republican Party.

She spoke at the Tea Party convention — apparently aided by a grade- school style cheat sheet on her palm. Her speech was void of specifics, filled with inept reasoning and petty, nasty, insulting shots at President Obama. One shudders to think she could easily have been a heartbeat away from the presidency after '08. We cannot blame Palin: She is who she is, limited intellectually, no doubt, and an opportunist, like many others.

One does, however, have to question the judgment, minimal competence and patriotism of those who would consider putting her in charge of our country.

The opposition media's bigotted and biased treatment of Governor Palin is shameful. The writer of the opinion above is just mouthing the words of the majority of leftists, who literally hate Sarah Palin and the traditional values she espouses. Here is my response to Mr. Cobert's unabashed attack on the character and competence of Governor Palin.

Soetoro/Obama's election is more puzzling

greg e jaye

There is no better measure of the effectiveness of the godless Marxist educational system composed of extensive brainwashing of the youth of America in recent decades, than the fact that an extreme Marxist like Barry Soetoro a/k/a Barack Obama was elected President of these Untied States. His election by deceit, Saul Alinsky ACORN contrived election shenanigans, and media manipulation also shows the sorry state of the both political parties and the nation as a whole.

This President’s unprecedented use of the Teleprompter has diminished the position and the person. He seemingly cannot be trusted by his handlers when he gets off the TelePrompTer script. It is almost laughable if it wasn’t so obviously hurtful to the country and its citizenry. I shutter to think that he could multiply the damage already done during his first year in office over his remaining time in office. Furthermore, during his first year in office he and his administration have demonstrated gross incompetence, hindered by executive inexperience and driven by an anti-American ideology. This is in stark contrast to Governor Palin, who can speak without a Teleprompter, who has had executive experience and whose ideology is more in keeping with the Founders than the current President’s!

I would agree with Mr. Colbert’s last sentence, if I make this substitution, “One does, however, have to question the judgment, minimal competence and patriotism of those who voted for him (Soetoro/Obama) placing him
in charge of our country.

Last Man Speaking, Mansfield, Ohio Town Hall Meeting 8/24/09

This past Monday night our local area was blessed with an atypical, and what I believe was model Town Hall meeting. The meeting was held at the local High School. It was the result of a spontaneous idea and action of a local TEA Party. Two hours were set aside in the evening at a time when those of us who work were able to attend. Proportionally little time was allocated for the presenters, the bulk of the time was given to hear from the people. The people did speak. The frustration of the people over the ever expanding big government and its even bigger spending practices were expressed. The two representatives aides seemed to hear. Not sure if the liberal Senator Sherrod Brown would ever depart from the Democratic Party line, however, at least he sent someone to hear, whether he will listen is a very different matter.

HERE COMES THE JUDGE

The sponsor of the Mansfield, Ohio Town Hall Meeting on Government Run Health Care and the Cap & Trade Legislation, the Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association, wisely chose a respected, no-nonsense local judge to moderate this Town Hall. After all those unruly (and many for good reasons) meetings, Judge James DeWeese would have none of it. He reprimanded and cautioned the crowd and one individual, in particular, when it or she got out of line. Out of the Town Hall Meetings I have viewed on the Internet, this Town Hall was a model.

From my vantage point on the front row looking back across the expansive auditorium I thought two-thirds of the 1200 seat Mansfield Senior High School Auditorium were filled. The cup of wrath and indignation was more than ½ full with citizens wanting to share with their representatives. Lame duck (emphasis on lame) Senator Voinovich’s office said that he has never did Town Hall Meetings and will not be starting now. He was invited, but declined. Senator Sherrod Brown sent a representative, the State Director of his office, John Ryan. I don’t think Sen. Brown is in the mood to endure the questions about his beloved health care reform monstrosity. Senator Brown has been and continues to be an extreme liberal on almost all of the current issues. On the other hand, Congressman Jordan is a very conservative member of Congress. Just a week earlier, Congressman Jim Jordan was present in Lucas, Ohio, a small town just east of Mansfield, speaking before 200 or so people. Ray Yonkura, Rep. Jordan's Chief Of Staff represented him at this Town Hall.

The program started at 7 and was to run until 9 PM. Judge DeWeese opened the Town Hall with a few remarks, he was followed by Mr. Ryan then by Mr. Yonkura. Mr. Yonkura was on the correct side of nearly all the issues and had the support of most of the people present. I would declare him the winner of the "debate." John Ryan did his best to disguise the very liberal positions of Sherrod Brown, the Mansfield native.

After the presentations, which lasted until around 7:30 PM, two lines formed, one on the right of the stage, and another on the left. The question and answer period lasted 90 minutes. On most question, both representatives had an opportunity to respond. When the time approached 9:00 PM Judge DeWeese wisely cut off the comments by the two representatives, but allowed everyone remaining in line to ask a question or make a statement. I am very glad he did this, otherwise we would not be able to here the wisdom of the last person in line.

THE LAST MAN STANDING & SPEAKING

At around 9:15 PM, or so, the last man standing was an elderly gentleman who slowly but deliberately made his way on his own volition and took the microphone. It turned out to be a marvelous and fitting conclusion to an evening when a lot of folks got a lot off of their collective chests.

This man was so symbolic of America, that I had to transcribe his entire remarks. His words follow the embedded video below. His comments were low key, yet he was every bit as passionate and profound as Michelle Malkin on the View TV Show. He's my new hero. He's a great American. His entire words of wisdom are captured in the embedded video below. Roy Wagner of KRose Video was on hand to record the entire Town Hall Meeting. I was particularly appreciative of his documentation of this important and historic event.

To me, this geriatric giant of a man in many ways represents the best of America past and present. His words encapsulate the sentiment of most Americans past and present. He spoke for the silent and moral majority. A well grounded, respectful, conservative voice that is seldom if ever heard as clearly in the censored media called TV News. A man with the mental agility that could outperform most Mansfield Senior High students right now. Inspirational!

Here to me was the highlight of the night. Here to me summarized the previous two hours. So simple, yet so wise. The words of a patriotic, average American, whom we should try with all of hearts and minds and spirit to emulate.

“Thank you for being here, Judge DeWeese. You conducted a very good thing - meeting. [applause] I admire you, greatly, Judge DeWeese, for putting morality into your office. [Sustained applause]

“I may be the oldest man in here (tonight), I don’t know. I’m 95 years old. [Applause] I was born in Richland County and I graduated from Madison High School in 1932. There are only 3 of us left . . .

“I love this country. [Applause] I had a son killed in Vietnam. I’ve have a young grandson in the Marines now. [Applause]

“I am a registered Democrat now, because I wanted to vote (in the primary election) for my grandson, who ran for mayor of Ontario (a suburb of Mansfield). And he made it. And he will be on the ballot this fall as a Democrat.

“But I am a Republican, and I voted Democrat because I wanted to see my grandson get elected. He’s a good man. Judge DeWeese is also a Democrat, and he is a good man. [Applause]

"Now, I want to recite a poem I learned many years ago and it never crossed my mind until the President started going across the world criticizing our country.

[The last man standing & speaking said,} Has anyone heard of the . . .

The Lay of the Last Minstrel
Sir Walt
er Scott

Breathes there the man with soul so dead
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne’er within him burned,
As home his footsteps he hath turned
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentrated all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying,
shall go down
To the vile dust from whence he sprung,

Unwept, unhonored , and unsung.

“I’m sorry to say, but I think our president is doing us some wrong by going around the world criticizing the greatest country in the world, that ever existed. [Sustained applause]

'It is by the grace of God that we are the greatest county, and we may be the last. Think about it people. We got to do some sober thinking in our country.

“I grieve.

“Thank you. May God bless all of you!

COMMENT

At 95, this man gave an amazingly powerful and inspirational closing challenge to all Americans. It capped an intense evening at this model Town Hall meeting. For those who left this ballgame early, they missed the game winning home run!

While the two representatives got peppered with questions and comments from those assembled, this elderly gentleman put it all into proper perspective. He saw his president "doing wrong" by defaming and insulting our nation abroad. The majority of those present (and I believe that they represent the majority of Americans) vehemently oppose what this president has already done on foreign soil as well as what he and his administration are doing and trying to do domestically. I absolutely concur with Congressman Jordan and his Chief of Staff, Ray Yonkura, that imposition of both Government-Run Healthcare and the new tax scheme called Cap and Trade must be defeated along with halting out-of-control and wasteful government growth and spending.

One closing note regarding this seasoned citizen, he is walking visualization or demonstration of why we don't need ObamaCare. This vital man is still contributing value to society, and I would say he will continue to do so until God takes him. Their is a real danger under ObamaCare or socialized medicine that this man would be "expendable" or not worth "investment" of health care because of his age . . . Now that would be a great shame, wouldn't it?

An American Carol , The Movie (2008)

The film is witty and a spoof on terrorists, liberals, and socialism. It stars a Michael Moore look-alike and a General George Patton look-alike. Humorous antics are drawn from past shows like Abbott & Costello and the three stooges with the three stooges being terrorists.

The film is a rewrite of A Christmas Carol where Scrooge wants to abolish Christmas and is visited by three ghosts. Michael Malone, a liberal patriot, wants to ban the Fourth of July. His nephew is in the Navy and visits Michael in uniform while preparing for a ban the Fourth of July rally. The ghosts are John Kennedy, George Patton, George Washington, and a country western singer as the Angel of Death.

Rosie O’Donnell’s line “Christians are as bad as terrorists” is used in the film with great effect.

‘Excellence in health care’ is displayed as Michael Malone visits Cuba and its socialistic universal health care system. A riot brakes out when he leaves to go to America. Such excellence in care can be ours when the government takes over the health care system in America.

The music of the country western artist Trace Adkins is very uplifting.

An American Carol

A Pro-American Film?
.

David Zucker’s movie, An American Carol, opened last weekend.

“And it is very different from the typical Hollywood movie.

“For example, in this movie the Americans are the good guys and the terrorists are the bad guys.”

The Reason for America’s Greatness:

The Blessing of God

I received an email from the Northeast Ohio Values Voters; in it they included the lyrics to Lee Greenwood’s song, “God Bless the U.S.A.” How apropos the words of that song are for this festive Fourth of July holiday weekend.

For all its shortcomings and all the attacks by domestic and foreign terrorists on its foundations, still America is a shining light on a hill. Though that light is dimming, there still is a strong flicker. We must all roll up our sleeves between now and Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th, now only four months away, to pray for our nation and to elect conservative men and women of character to Congress.

We, as individuals and as a society, need to repent, turn away from our apathy and godless wickedness (abortion, pornography, homosexuality, adultery, greed, etc.) And remind ourselves why America was, and can still be, so special. We need once again to acknowledge our Creator.

God Bless the USA

by
Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Why Christians Should be Against the War in Iraq

by Matt Miller

The President has given many reasons for going to war with Iraq, but none of them are Biblically or constitutionally valid. Some people have said that we have good reasons to continue to occupy Iraq, but these aren’t Biblically or constitutionally valid either. The war in Iraq in unconstitutional because no official declaration of war was ever made (only an authorization for “the use of force”).

1. There was some talk in the beginning about connections between Sadaam Hussein and Al Qaeda. The 9/11 Commission made the determination that this is not the case. Colon Powell admitted that this was not the case. Even the President has abandoned this claim. Iraq has never participated in any terrorist attack against the United States.

2. Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Should every nation that has WMD be violently overthrown? Is this a Biblical or constitutional mandate?

3. Iraq violated U.N. resolutions. But the corrupt and hypocritical U.N. violates its own resolutions all the time (e.g. the oil for food program). Let their “peacekeeping forces” be the ones to enforce their rules at the expense of their citizens. The United States should have gotten out of this wicked organization a long time ago. The American people should decide what America does, not some conglomeration of nations.

4. There is the idea that the war in Iraq makes the U.S. safer. A GOP slogan was, “If we don’t fight them over there then we will have to fight them over here.” Is that a Christian thing to say? Does only the fear that a nation will attack the U.S. justify a preemptive attack? That sounds like the same justification that a terrorist would use to attack the U.S. The Bible teaches that we should not rely on military might for our protection, but the Lord (Psalm 118:8, 9, Ephesians 6:12). This not to say that we should never bring lawbreakers to justice (because the Bible authorizes and even commands this), but military force should only be used against those who have violated U.S. laws.

5. There is the idea that it was good to bring down Sadaam Hussein because he was a brutal dictator who killed his own people. I reject the idea that U.S. should be the policeman of the world. I find in Scripture no Biblical mandate for this. This is a matter that, as far as military force goes, should be left up to God and the Iraqi people. How bad does a nation have to get before it becomes justifiable to attack it? What Sadaam Hussein has done is a drop in the bucket compared to what we are doing in the U.S., which is brutally murdering 3500 innocent unborn babies per day. Would you advocate a violent overthrow our government because of this? We should remove the planks from our own eyes first.

6. There is the idea that a democracy would bring stability to the region. Does the U.S. have a mandate from God in the Scriptures to take down governments and set up democracies? Our nation was founded on Christian principles by Christians. We are a strong nation because God gave the Founding Fathers the wisdom to establish our Republic (it is not actually a democracy). We are losing our strength because we have turned our backs on God. Do you really think that this “democracy” will work in a nation which is mostly Muslim and contains three warring factions? The Bible says that there is no hope for Babylon. Jeremiah 51:9 says, “We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth up to heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.”

7. There is the idea that it is unpatriotic or disrespectful to say things against the people who are fighting in Iraq for our freedom to dissent. Being against the war in Iraq is in no way disrespecting the people who are fighting in Iraq and trying to make the best of a bad situation. People fighting in Iraq are not giving us the freedom to dissent, but Almighty God is. It is true that there are times in which the sacrifice of lives is necessary for freedom, but that doesn’t mean that all wars that America has engaged in were justified or helped the cause of freedom. I have relatives and friends in the military who are in Iraq and I don’t want them to die in vain. Is that wish unpatriotic or disrespectful in any way? The distraction of Iraq has left us powerless to accomplish the real patriotic mission which is to capture Osama Bin Laden and the top Al Qaeda leaders. Being against the war in Iraq does not disrespect the families of those who died on September 11th. Dividing our forces and not going all out with all our military might to capture Osama Bin Laden is what has denied justice to them. God has allowed our government to make foolish choices because we have turned our backs on Him.

8. There is the idea that we should be for the war in Iraq because the Democrats and the news media are against it or because Republicans are for it. These are ridiculous arguments. Each person should think for himself. If the Democrats were really steadfastly against the war, they could have withdrawn funding for it and it would be over. But instead they have attempted to bargain with the Bush administration about this to get the goodies that they want, while fooling their anti-war constituency into thinking that they are really doing something to stop it.

The Bible specifically warns God’s people to stay away from Babylon. There are evil spirits there. The reason given for one to stay away is so that one does not share in its sins (Revelation 18:4).

Ron Paul is, as of now, the only Presidential candidate who is both pro-life and against the war in Iraq. He is really pro-life, not one these “exceptions in cases of …” candidates. He is not some pot-smoking, pacifist hippie, either. Congressman Paul voted in favor of military action in Afghanistan for the purposes of capturing Osama Bin Laden. Ron Paul is running on the Republican ballot.

If you agree with him, join the revolution!

The Patriot (2000)

The Patriot is a movie about an patriotic American. It is the story of a man who had family values and lived them out. He was satisfied being a loving and caring father of his large family of children aged 2 to 17. He was a recent widower. He was a farmer. He lived in the time of the American Revolution. He was typical of the average American in 1776 and I think typical of many patriotic Americans today.

He was a reluctant warrior patriot. He was a member of the legislature. He was not in favor of going to war with the. However, when he saw the abject cruelty of the British and when his own son who enlisted in the American army and was later wound and then captured by the British

If you like historic dramas and a lot of action this is the movie for you. Mel Gibson not only acts, but he also directs this film. I think that he does both well. It depicts wholesome, yet realistic family and human relationships.

One
website explains, “The Patriot tells the story of how the will to be free triumphs against impossible odds. In the movie, "The Patriot", Benjamin Martin and his son, Gabriel Martin, are really composite characters of real American patriots. In "The Patriot by LawBuzz.com," you will meet the real heroes behind Benjamin Martin, and Gabriel Martin: Francis Marion (the "Swamp Fox"), Daniel Morgan (the brilliant military strategist), and Andrew Pickens (the famous freedom fighter).”

The movie’s battle depictions are extremely graphic. I would not permit young children to view it. In one scene a cannonball is shown flying slow motion through the air decapitating a soldier. Because of the violence only older teens should be permitted to watch it.

The movie does a good job portraying the American spirit. The spirit remains in the soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan today. Even though Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi do their best to aid the new Redcoats, the Islamic terrorists, the soldiers typify the independence and freedom loving principles and values upon which this nation was built.

I highly recommend purchasing your own copy of this movie and at the very least renting it or watching it the next time it appears on TV. It will inspire you, it will educate you and it will entertain you at the same time. The principles and values portrayed are timeless.

TIP

I recently purchased this movie and Glory (1999) a movie which I recently
reviewed in a double feature DVD set for under $14 at Wal-Mart.

RATING

gregjaye rates this movie ****1/2 of *****. However, the movie is definitely not suitable for younger children.
