The Unconstitutionality and Dangers of the Individual Mandate

Hat tip to Jack Painter, founder of the Indian Hill Tea Party for an excellent analysis of the arguments for the constitutionality of the individual mandate portion of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  This is the most comprehensive piece which I have seen on the subject.  He examines the angles being used to try to pass the individual mandate off as being constitutional, the dangers of such arguments, and argues for the uniqueness of the mandate in the legislative history of the United States.

Wisconsin Supreme Court Election: Is it David Prosser or Joanne Klopperberg? Who knows?

In another of those too close to call races, now Judge David Prosser is down by 204 votes. He was the judge facing a recall election because Governor Scott Brown is trying to level the playing field for taxpayers in Wisconsin. Out of control and angry public union leaders aided by seemingly the entire American labor movement is trying to regain the right to keep the cash cow union dues coming their way unfettered. Well they instituted a recall election, which was held last night.  Only a 1/3 of the eligible voters turned out and a good percentage were union-supporters it seems ...

Koran Burning Made Simple

The Whole Armor of God, Part 12A

Today I continue my series of articles commenting on the concept and principles involved in the Armor of God, which the apostle Paul described in the New Testament. This is the topic of the Sunday school lesson I am currently teaching. This week I start a three-part discussion on Ephesians 6:18.

The Armor of God – Pray. Watch. Preserve

Pray. Watch. Persevere. (Ephesians 6:18)

Prayer can be either addressed to another person, usually someone of a higher social status than one’s self, or to God. It is often an earnest request but need not be confined to requests. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians prayer is being addressed to God.

Watch, is to keep alert, awake, observant, and vigilant for the protection of something valuable.

Persevere, is to continue in the pursuit of something in spite of the difficulties encountered.\

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…” (Ephesians 6:18).

People who are born again have as their Father, God the Father. They can go directly into His presence by prayer: Addressing Him as Father (Galatians 4:6). They are born of the Spirit (John 3:6) by the will of God and are adopted as His children (John 1:12-14; Galatians 4:5). The veil in the Temple, separating where God dwelt from the rest of the temple, has been torn in two. Indicating that the way to God is open for all to approach Him (Hebrews 9:3-8; Luke 23:45). It is in Jesus that we are accepted by God (Ephesians 1:6) and we are instructed to pray in Jesus name (Galatians 4:7; John 16:23, 24).

Prayer is talking with God just as you would another person. Remember, God is a person with His own sovereign free will to do as He chooses. God hears whatever we ask according to His will and will grant us our petition (I John 5:14). We are told to cast all of our care and anxieties upon Him and to go before Him with our petitions in thanksgiving (I Peter 5:7; Philippians 4:6). The Apostle Paul writes, that not being thankful to God and not glorifying Him as God has turned thankless people’s hearts away from the truth about God (Romans 1:21).

We have a High Priest in heaven who has compassion for us and who has been temped in every way, yet without sin. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace; that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:14-16). God is listening for the cry of the righteous and ready to help (Psalms 34:15). He is also listening for the sinner to repent and ask forgiveness of sins (Luke 15:4-7; Luke 18:14, 15).

Prayer is to be in faith without doubting (James 1:5-7). Doubt causes faith to be canceled. This is what happened to Peter when he went to Jesus walking on the water. Once he doubted he began to sink (Matthew 14:25-32). Jesus said, “Have faith in God.” When you pray, “Believe that you receive your request and you will have it.” (Mark 11:22-24). “Whatsoever you say, not doubting in your heart, you shall have.” (Mark 11:23). This means that you need to be careful what you say. Your words can either promote life or they can destroy life. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue:” (Proverbs 18:21a).

If you are suffering from some illness or something else: then pray (James 5:13a). If you are happy: then sing Psalms (James 5:13b). Singing to God is a form of prayer. There are instances in the Holy Bible where God acted in response to singing. Paul and Silas in the Philippian jail is one instance. There was an earthquake (Acts 16:25-34). Another was when Jehoshaphat and Judah fought against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir. When Judah began to sing praises to God the Lord caused their enemies to fight each other and annihilate themselves.

Prayer for the sick offered in faith will cause the sick to be healed. If they have sinned it will be forgiven (James 5:15). The prayer of righteous people can accomplish much (James 5:16). God wants us to pay for all men: especially that they are saved (I Timothy 2:1-4). We are to pray that God will send workers to lost sinners to win them to Christ (Luke 10:2).

Importunity is important in prayer. It means to keep up it until the desired results arrive. “And he (Jesus) spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, ‘There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ And the Lord said, ‘Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?’” (Luke 18:1-7).

We are not to pray for appearances sake. Don’t just do it to impress others. “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:5, 6).

We are not to use vain repetitions when we pray. “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” (Matthew 6:7, 8)

Jesus gave us a sample prayer to follow. “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:9-13).

The Left leaning media, President, Democrats and environmentalists can't let the nuclear crisis in Japan "go to waste" so they want to make the worst of it. Already the industry and any new development of nuclear energy has been stymied by over regulation and the tied up in knot in the courts. 

This crisis is just another excuse to cap another needed energy source. Why? The only explanation that I can see is these socialists dream is to destroy the capitalistic free enterprise system and to replace it with an all-powerful centrally planned state - a new soviet united utopia, maybe?  What else could it be?

Sen. Orrin Hatch Introduces Balanced Budget Amendment

According to Americans for Limited Government (ALG), “Utah Senator Orrin Hatch is working to freeze some of our excessive spending. With our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and national debt nearly equal, the time seems right. Hatch is introducing a bill to create a balanced budget amendment.”

The article describes Life Always'  most recent endeavor to place pro-life billboards, like the one above, in and around President Obama's beloved Chicago ... Ironically it is Planned Parenthood, the Democratic Party and President Obama who show unwavering support for the killing of black babies.

... The billboards’ message is taken from polls showing that black women have more abortions than their white counterparts. In a 2008 poll, the sexual health research organization Guttmacher Institute (a Planned Parenthood related research organization) examined abortion rates in the U.S. between 1974 and 2004 and found that Hispanic and black women were three to five times more likely to have an abortion than white women.

Fact: Islam is an evil cult

"I do not hate the Muslim people, I hate the cult of Islam."--- Usama Dakdok, President, The Straight Way Ministry,  March 28, 2011 at a local Tea Party meeting, Mansfield, Ohio

The above quote was one key principle on which the Egyptian-born minister spoke at a local Tea Party meeting tonight. The racist NAACP and later jihadist CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) both managed to feign outrage to the local school board accusing the truth-telling Christian of spewing hatred. Thus the spineless School Superintendent cancelled the previously authorized scheduled appearance of this man of God. The whole fiasco demonstrates how low this society has sunk in the mire of political correctness so effectively promulgated by the likes of un-American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the NAACP and CAIR.


In response to this freedom thwarting insult to the local Tea Party and to taxpaying citizens, a lawsuit may result from this violation of free speech and truth-telling. Save Money & the Country: Let the Government Shutdown!

Senator Harry “White Flag of Surrender” Reid said this week that under no circumstances will he permit the defunding of the perverse, law-breaking Planned Parenthood Federation of America as part of any continuing resolution or authorized budget. He felt so strongly about this that he stated that even if it meant shutting down the federal government. Well, Harry if you feel that way, “Shut ‘er dooooowwwwnnnnn!!!!


On the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) funding issue alone it would be worth shutting down the non-essential workings of government. The PPFA has breached the trust of the American people by its pattern of lawbreaking and operating above the law. Undercover videos of the last few years revealed a pattern of dishonesty and lawbreaking, which rivals that of ACORN another leftist pillar of pernicious practices. Not only would shutting down the government get the attention of the American people, it would focus all eyes on the gross negligence, incompetency and refusal of the President and his Democratic comrades to effectively deal with the problem of the growing and bloated national deficit and national debt. The GOP in the House proposed and the GOP in the Senate voted for a very modest, and I might add an altogether insufficient, budget reduction proposal for the FY 2011 budget. The Democrats  in the Senate countered with a paltry pittance of a spending reduction. Not to mention that the President proposed a FY2012 budget insuring continuance of the similar atrocious deficit projections as his previous record-breaking and economy-busting budgets of his first two years in office.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy “Leaving on a Government Jet Plane” Pelosi led Democrats resisted almost every cut suggested by their GOP opponents. Really, they were in such a frenzied spending spree last year that didn’t have time to approve a budget, which is the first time since Congress has been required by law to do so. Seems that they have given up their right to squawk about the specifics of the budget, which the opposition is scrambling to fix the mess they kicked down the road …

Charles M. Page, Sr. had some thoughts on the possible shut-down of our self-serving government guilty of gloating in its self-importance. He posted an article at www.TeaPartyNation.com, “Shutting Down The Government Sounds Like A Deal To Me...”He would like to see the government shut down, as would I.

 

Page makes several good points, first he says, “Now I know that they always mean "shutting down only non-essential services" whenever this subject comes up, and usually refer to "continuing to operate the military, and to payout Social Security check, etc."” It would also be important to pay the interest on our staggering debt, so that we don’t incur additional penalties, which would drive up the deficit and debt even further.

 

His second point is a question, “What services are essential for the Government to perform today?  And if it were shut down...even for a few hours, days, or weeks, what do you think might actually happen?”

That is the question we all should be asking. The U.S. Constitution answers that in Article 1, Section 8.

 

Page looks at this looming budget crisis confrontation positively, “My hope is that the (newer) Republicans in the House, because that it the only group I see potentially able to make a stand on this issue, will vote to pass no more "Continuing Resolutions to keep the Federal Government operating" when this next deadline comes due. [April 8]

“I hope

·                    that they reject flat out the notion of the "Need to raise the Debt Ceiling...."  

·                    That unused Stimulus monies are returned to the taxpayers,

·                    that the $105 Billion squirled away in ObamaCare is eliminated,

·                    that significant steps to find Fraud & Waste everywhere are actually taken and reported for once in our lifetimes,

·                    that tax law is reduced to simply "you owe X (my personal number would be 10, 20 tops....) percent of anything you make regardless if you are Joe the Plumber or GE," and

·                    that we find out what we really are getting for our money from the Federal Government?”

 

Yes, this can be a pivotal time for America. It may be the time to discover why it is costing taxpayers and future Americans yet to be born over $1.5 trillion dollars per year in additional debt to operate our out-of-control big government. We need to review every role of the present government and if it does not comport or line up with Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, serious consideration should be giving to ceasing to fund and/or continue that program or expenditure.

In the Service of the King

I depart from my usual blog article today to present something personal, something that occurred on October 8, 1944 at the First Brethren Church, Long Beach, California. It was my (Merrill Samuel Keiser, Jr.'s). Dedication Service, where Dr. Louis S. Bauman officiated. I trust God, my King, will continue to use me in His service …

As we have often sated, in our church we do not baptize babies. We believe that “as many as were made sinners” (Romans 5) Christ, by His work on the cross, made righteous.

Baptism has nothing to do with Adamic (Adam’s original) sin. As many as believed were baptized, both men and women. Baptism is for believers. But, in the word of God we read that they would bring their children into the temple and dedicate them to the Lord.

In my early ministry I used to wonder why I became a preacher. I did not intend to be a preacher. I could take a story like the Prodigal Son, or some other Bible Story, and talk on it, drawing lessons from it, but that was about the extent of my preaching ability. However, I got to preaching, and by and by got to holding evangelistic meetings. I started preaching, and have never been able to quit.

I was holding a meeting one time in McLouth, Kansas. While I was holding this meeting I wrote to Mother about it, and she wrote back: “Louis, before you were two hours old I held you up in my arms and dedicated you to the Lord.” Then, I knew why I was a preacher. It is not in vain that we dedicate children to the Lord.

You parents should realize the solemnity of this occasion. If you make a vow unto the Lord, He will surely require it of you. I would be afraid for the life of my baby, otherwise. This means that you take second place in the life of that child. After all, you want the child to put God first in its life. Jesus said, “He that forsaketh not father and other for My sake cannot be my disciple.” Therefore, it is what the will of God will be for your child – not your will that shall be in the future.

Are you ready to dedicate your child to the Lord, recognizing that you are giving God first place in the life of your child? (Answer: Yes.)

Do you promise that you will strive to so live that you will be an example to this boy as he grows to manhood, so that you can say: “Follow me as I follow Christ”? (Answer: Yes.)

(Prayer): O God, we pray that Thou wilt bless this little lad. We thank thee for him. We believe that he was dedicated long ago to Thee. As he comes into the temple, we ask Thee to bless him; as we know that this mother and the father, who is in the service of his country, if he were here, would be standing here dedicating this child to Thee. Bless him, put Thy hands upon him – the unseen Hand -, and may he be used in the service of the King. We ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Freedom Robbing Nature of Political Correctness

Usama Dakdok was born in Egypt and raised in a Christian home as the son of a Baptist pastor. He became a Christian at the age of eleven. Usama learned about Islam in school because it was, and still is, a mandatory subject. To further his knowledge of Islam, he studied Islamic law in college.

Usama came to the United States in 1992 after his marriage to Vicki, an American whom he met in Germany, where they were both in full-time ministry. In 1997 they were blessed with Caleb. Marcia Webb, President of the Mansfield Branch (NAACP) was contacted about fliers being posted at the high school in areas around the school which announced a a speaker coming on Monday, March 28th at the High School Auditorium. The speaker is being hosted by The Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party.

The N.A.A.C.P. has always supported Education for the future of children, and was disappointed to learn that the High School building would be used to allow "Anti-Muslim, Anti-American Rhetoric" to be spewed from the stage of the schools' auditorium. I spoke to Supt. Freund on yesterday, and I was disappointed that he was not willing to do more to discourage assemblies of this type from occurring at the school.

I understand the constitutional right to freedom of speech, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the school district allowing these types of divisive messages to be displayed in our local school building. My concern is for the students attending MSHS who are of the Muslim faith and how this will impact their well being.

The Mansfield Branch will be sending written request to the Mansfield School Board asking them to review and amend the policy for future use/rental to include restrictions for the content of the events held at the school buildings. The NAACP believes that this necessary infrastructure for these type checks and balances will help restore the public trust of the community in the School Administration now and in the future and ensure the safety of our students attending Mansfield City Schools.

Stand with Gov. Walker & Wisconsin GOP State Senators, I did!

Thuggish union leaders outside of Wisconsin are outraged that the Congress in Wisconsin would tamper with their cash cow, gravy train union dues. So upset that they are organizing to recall 8 Wisconsin State Senator, who dared to vote for fiscal responsibility and against union monopolistic tactics and policies. These tactics and policies added to the financial crisis that Governor Scott Walker and most of the GOP State Senators had the courage to address.

This is an important step for all of America. We must stop the favoritism and the cycle of Democratic support for unions and vice versa. Unions use their dues to fund politicians who will payback the unions with favored status and excessive benefits, not even provided by the best in private industry. Often very substandard work is rewarded because the union care only about protecting the dues pipeline …

The Unborn, Again

babies are sacrificed. Unlike in ancient cultures in which people were sacrificed to assorted pagan gods, they are sacrificed to gods of

·                    convenience, ·                    avoidance,
·                    confusion,
·                    selfishness, and
·                    numbed conscience.

The culture and, God help us, the government call them not human beings, but 

·                    fetuses,
·                    blobs,
·                    tissue, and
·                    choices.

What kind of people, what kind of government allows and even encourages the mass murder of major percentages of minorities and others by permitting the “legal” but highly immoral and unethical abortion procedure to thrive? A sick and dying culture, I am afraid.

If we as a society reject the basic right to LIFE, what other God-given unalienable right shall we disregard? LIFE is the first right named in the United States Declaration of Independence. Until we get this basic right right, we will wallow in our mire. We are doomed. Those on the Left, such as the wicked law-ignoring Planned Parenthood Federation of America, tout a woman’s right to choose. Who speaks for the unborn?

American Education is Flunking Out

Losing the Brains Race

“America is spending more money on education while producing worse outcomes.

“Although students in many developed nations have been learning more and more over time, American 15-year olds are stuck in the middle of the pack in many fundamental areas, including reading and math. Yet the United States is near the top in education spending (with the exception of Switzerland, the US spends the most in the world on education).

“… If (education) reform is to be defined by something other than the amount of money flushed down the toilet, it is time to reverse the flow of power from the top (school districts, teachers unions, governments) to the bottom (students, their parents, and taxpayers who want their money spent wisely)…”

Failure is the best word I can think of to describe America’s public schools. It’s a failure to achieve exceptional outcomes. Who is responsible for the current state of affairs in education? We Americans for tolerating such a mess are responsible. We share the responsibility with the following culprits:

·                    the power-hungry, corrupt and scheming teachers’ unions protecting the poorest teachers rather than uplifting and protecting and teaching the most underachieving students,

·                    the rampant foolhardy political correctness and secular humanistic philosophy that so dominates the universities that produce the teachers,

·                    the bloated educational bureaucracy starting from the essentially useless Federal and State Departments of Education, teacher union controlled and influenced local school districts, and

·                    padded payrolls “supporting” principals and superintendents rather than supporting students and parents.

Essentially our schools have become propaganda mills for subversive atheistic thought of the worst order. Schools are government propaganda camps, where children are programmed to accept moral relativism, evolution, global warming as “truth.” Schools are where children are programmed to reject moral absolutes, American Exceptionalism, virtue and character.

More than anything else, our schools are credited for dumbing down the vast populace who electedthe current occupier of the White House.
