What Guides Faith?

I have been reading Chafer's Systematic Theoogy and found the following revealing quotation. Today, too often man places reason before revelation.

"Revelation and not reason is the guide to faith. When the former (revelation) has spoken, the later (reason) is appointed to listen and acquiensce."
