President Obama is really good at math...

Hat tip goes to Mike Beacham (@Mike_Beacham), who recently tweeted the following...

"Obama is great at math. He divides the country, subtracts jobs, adds debt and multiplies misery.”

A Great Idea ...

Hat tip goes to the Tea Party Nation website, which posted the following article, "Asking Obvious Questions," by Judson Phillips today. It dealt with how to deal with the expansion of government and with its out-of-control spending.

The main point of the article centers around the idea of creating new committees in the U.S. House and Senate that would only have jurisdiction to cut spending, laws, and programs.

This would be an excellent way to counteract the malignant growth and expansion of the federal government.

The shrinking (?) still stinking (!) Federal deficit

This morning, I read an article, “Everybody Listen Up! The Deficit Is Actually Shrinking, Despite Beltway Propaganda, 94 percent of Americans don't know the deficit is falling,” on Alternet.org to see what the other side (Left-wing) is saying about the economy, the deficit, etc.

Below is my response to that very leftward slanted article. It is interesting that the article mentions nothing about the deficits prior to 2009.  Prior to that year deficits were much smaller. The article talks about “beltway propaganda,” when the article itself is deceitful socialist, Keynesian propaganda.

The trillion-dollar deficit may be shrinking, but we still have a major spending problem, which you, Mr. Johnson (the article’s author), seem to overlook!

NYT, 10/12/2012 : "The federal deficit fell to $1.1 trillion in the 2012 fiscal year, down from about $1.3 trillion a year earlier...That is the smallest deficit since 2008 but represents the fourth year in a row that the deficit has exceeded $1 trillion."

The Federal Debt, the accumulation of all those “shrinking Deficits” total to the tune of nearly $17 TRILLION DOLLARS and growing... Now that is just the tip of the iceberg. Medicare and Medicaid entitlements are adding to the future economic catastrophe.

We are borrowing more than $.40 on the dollar from China and others to feed our spending addiction. Houston, we have a problem if we think we can live with trillion dollar deficits.

We need to get to a balanced budget sooner, rather than later. But Obama and the Democrats and many Republicans won't even consider that. We need to live within our means, beginning NOW. Any talk of acceptable deficit levels is pure bunk. Washington, GOP and Dems refuse to deal with reality and refuse to acknowledge their spending ADDICTION, which as bad as that of any heroin or cocaine addict.

What you write, Mr. Johnson, is Leftist, keep the status quo, keep-kicking-the-can-down-the-road PROPAGANDA, which you accuse others of doing...

Finally, the sequester must happen. It is not really a spending cut; it is merely a reduction in the rate of spending.

The solution is simple. Demand Congress and the President come up with a BUDGET (which Harry Reid and the Democrat-controlled Congress have refused to do for the past four years) where expenditures equal or are less than revenues. That is what households must do. That is what businesses must do... That is what Americans (with the exception of the many low information voters) expect their government to do, live within its means. Is that so radical?

One poster replied to what I had written:

“Far too many who remain deficit hawks despite the evidence that proves their position false have absolutely no clue how macro-economics works. Everything they understand is based on their perceptions of their own household economics and totally not applicable to a large central federal government…”

I offered in part, the following rebuttal:

…I disagree with your premise that "Our national debt is NOT the same as your household debt..." A budget is a spending plan that you decide upon. It is based on how much you make in income and what your monthly expenses are. And Debt is an amount owed to a person or organization for funds borrowed.

Households, businesses, governments to be successful must create and be guided by a sound financial guideline, which a budget is. Without a clear budget,  households, businesses, governments would flounder, which many do. Simply no entity will long survive if it continues to spend more than its income, revenue, taxes (Deficits, Debt) ... It is basic accounting or economics for all entities.

I like the following explanation found at http://www.politifact.com/trut...

"It's like a family that earns $60,000 per year, but is spending $100,000. How are they doing it? By getting a new $40,000 loan every year to cover the difference," said Brian Riedl, a budget expert with the conservative Heritage Foundation." Just add 10 zeros after those numbers and you have a idea of the size of our government... We must stop this insane level of spending and borrowing or we will face real economic collapse...

President Obama's Unofficial Christmas Greeting, "Let It Grow"

Hat tip goes to Western Journalism @WestJournalism for their tweet of the timely video greeting from our President, "OBAMA SINGS "LET IT GROW."   It's a funny parody song that describes so well the state of our nation today and our political 'leaders' response to the so-called upcoming 'Fiscal Cliff.'

What stand, if any, will John Boehner take in '12?

I received a solicitation in the mail today from Speaker of the U.S. House John Boehner. He asked me to complete a survey and to return it with some money for his re-election campaign. I did respond. Based on what he did in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2011, I was very provoked. I sat down and wrote him this letter.

Honorable John Boehner
c/o Friends of John Boehner

West Chester, Ohio 45069

Dear Mr. Speaker:
Thank you for your service to our nation.
I received your campaign material today, and I felt compelled to write to you to express my grave concerns regarding your leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives last year.
First, I did complete your 2012 Speaker’s Survey; hopefully it will be acted upon.
Second, I am extremely disappointed in the Republican leadership in Congress in 2011. The Tea Party Movement sent 80 new mostly conservatives to the House and a few to the Senate. However, I perceive that they had to battle you and Senator McConnell as much or more than they did the Democratic opposition in regard to pursuing conservative principles and policies.
The horrible, disgraceful debt deal was the biggest failure of the GOP in the first half session of the 112th Congress. I am ashamed to be a Republican, but unfortunately right now I have nowhere else to turn. You completely caved to President Obama and now the debt ceiling will be raised another $1.2 trillion with virtually no real spending cuts or reduction to the deficit or debt to show for it. Why have you settled for the status quo?
Thirdly, why isn’t there an approved budget? Why do you continue to fool around with Continuing Resolutions? Shouldn’t we be demanding the Democrats submit a budget before agreeing to any more money being appropriated? Close down the government until they do!
Fourthly, will you do anything about the unconstitutional recess appointmentsmade by the President? Will there be a Congressional investigation conducted when the House returns? It seems to me that the President is beginning to act as if there is no Congress …
Finally, why are we reducing employees’ Social Security and Medicare contributions when these programs are going broke? Why does Congress continue this farce?
In recent years I saw and heard you in person at several TEA Party rallies and thought you were going to implement more fiscal restraint when you became Speaker. After all, the House holds the purse strings, does it not?
However, if your primary purpose, as it seems to me, is to continue the status quo, to get re-elected, and to continue to compromise on the TEA Party Movement and conservative principles that put you in power, then I will no longer support you.
I urge you to stand up for the people of Ohio and America in 2012 to really cut spending and reduce the size and scope of government in all areas. Please do something that will allow me to support you. Words and speeches are no longer enough …
Sincerely,

I sincerely hope that the Speaker will hear this plea and begin to drink the TEA!

Wisconsin Subversion

Fire the Teachers who had the "blue flu"!

Here are two questions I am asking myself about Wisconsin, which has been in the news the last few days. Governor Scott Walker is facing some difficult decisions regarding reigning in his states budget deficit.

QUESTIONS

Wisconsin: Who governs you, ‘We the VOTERS’ or the public UNIONS?

Wisconsin: Why are Barack Obama's political/campaign operation Organizing for America (OFA), the "Reverend" Jesse Jackson, and Richard Trumka's AFL-CIO interfering in that state's business?

ANSWERS

The public unions have had their way in Wisconsin, New Jersey, California, New York and Ohio for a very long time. The more they demanded, the more they received. They have gotten used to getting their way through weak and politically correct polutitcians. Now the people are beginning to elect true and courageous statesmen who are willing to face and deal with fiscal reality. These representatives of the people are drawing the line and are saying NO to the rebellious, obstinate, spoiled children. They are standing up to the union and their hired thugs. I just read on twitter that some people wanting to start a recall drive to get Governor Walker removed. Boo Who, Boo Who, Boo Who …

Grow up President Obama and show some real leadership, pull your OFA goons off this state issue. How about working on reducing the deficit, or how about securing the borders, if you need something to do? You have failed miserably in your lame attempt at cutting the FY2012 budget. My advice is that you get to work and show some leadership. As for the bad ‘Reverend,’ he is automatically drawn, like metal to a magnet at the sound of camera’s clicking. He is nothing more than a rabble rouser. Ditto for Richard Trumka

How the Obama Stole Christmas!

Hat tip goes to Floyd Brown who sent me an email with a link to the video below. The video was presented by the PatriotCaucus.com. I transcribed the words of this poem following the YouTube video. There is a lot of truth in this timely childish story about a new Grinch this Christmas season.

The Obama Who Stole Christmas

In Whoville today there is no celebrating
Your Grinch was converted, but there is a new one waiting

If you're a rich Who, then you have enough
Obama will come to take the rest of the stuff

Christmas was saved the last time around
But nothing is safe, when Obama comes to town

For ObamaCare we will borrow and add to the debt
The little Whos will pay, for that you can bet

Obama and Keynes say government must stimulate
He spends and he spends yet unemployment remains above eight

Most Whos would like jobs so they could work for a living
But Obama says, “No, I will just keep on giving.”

More money from China, I will continue to borrow
For this, I am sure, will relieve your sorrow

The Whos in Whoville have nothing to save
Their money to the government they already gave

If you thought your money was yours to spend
The new Grinch has said, that must end

What you make is not yours, it’s the governments, you see
Obama will take it for his spending spree

But Whos are wondering, what is the purpose of this spending?
Is there a chance in the future of any of this ending?

Or shall we tax and tax and tax some more?
Then spend it all, ‘til everyone is poor?

But Whos in Whoville finally got tough
Stood up and declared, “We have had enough.”

We the people of Whoville, or the Tea Party participants, are expecting the 112th Congress, which will have a stronger conservative element, to halt the Grinch's spending spree and to reverse his disastrous Keynesian economic policies. We expect the new Congress to create a realistic budget that reduces spending dramatically and that begins to reduce the great deficit ...

Two Key U.S. House Chairmanships in Play

The results of the 2010 General Election indicate that people want change in how the government operates. The American people repudiated the current regime and the current Congresses’ spending excesses. They racked up such great debts that it will take eons of time to pay them down. Therefore, two of the most important leadership appointments in the new Congress will be filling the positions of chairmanships of twp House of Representative Committees. Those committees are the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Appropriations Committee.

Tonight I listened in on a Tea Party Patriots (TPP) Telephone Town Hall. Two of four nominees for the chairmanship of Energy and Commerce participated. Two of the three nominees for Appropriations participated in the event.

Based on what I heard of each of the nominees and some additional information that was provided about the men concerning their voting records, I would like to see Cliff Stearns (R-FL) be the next chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. I would like to see Jack Kingston (R-GA) serve as the next chairman of the Appropriation Committee. Whoever is selected would  begin working on January 3rd, 2011 when the 112th Congress goes into session.

Both of these committees have a mighty daunting task in front of them, They must in the next six to nine months try to reverse some of the tremendous damage done through massive deficit spending by the current President’s and current Congresses’ destructive, wasteful, and unwise legislation.

Some of the critical points which stood out to in the telephone town hall event was the fact that we have so little time in which to act before the next campaign season swings into high gear. Yes, the cycle starts soon. Our narcissistic President and his Teleprompter are itching to hit the roads. The great campaigner and less than adequate executive/leader hopes to fool large sections of the populace again with his ridiculous rhetoric and ‘yes we can’ showboating.

If the House does its job, then history will remember a one-term president who was grossly in over his head, inept, indecisive, and incompetent. Then the debate will get underway to determine who claims the dishonor of being the worst President ever, Barry Soetoro alias Barack Obama, or the peanut farmer from Georgia, Jimmy Carter.

Enough of the hope, now let’s get into the change.

It was mentioned by Representative Stearns and others that the GOP has been given a second chance by the voters this fall. If they blow it this time it will be over for the GOP for a very long time, and a long time before they get back into power. Many of the 60+ new members will be conservatives, who will reinforce the principled conservatives already serving in Congress on both sides of the aisle.

There is a lot that the Appropriations Committee can do to curb the obese spending of this administration. They must start on day one and never let up. They will probably even have to battle the new House Speaker and other long-time or good old boy entrenched country club Republicans along with the Democrats. We need a strong, principled conservative like Jack Kingston (who by the way received 80% of the vote taken of the Telephone Town Hall attendees who voted for who should be the next chairman of Appropriations after listening to both Kingston and Jerry Lewis (R-CA) present their ideas) to lead this key Committee.

To a large degree Appropriations holds the key to much of the spending that goes on in our government. They can restrict much of the funding of aspects of ObamaCare, EPA, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, etc.   In addition, Appropriations may be able to to bring the epidemic of White House czars under control or make them accountable. They can put a stop to much of the wasteful prolific government grants as well.

Kingston indicated that he would like to see a spending cap put in place similar to the Gramm-Rudman Act passed in the mid 1980s.

This was a very encouraging Town Hall meeting ... Let's see if Congress can get a real grip next year.

Freezing the Pay of Government Workers?

Isn't that what Democrat Representative William 'cold cash' Jefferson of Louisiana, did, by stashing his cash in his freezer? Is that what the President means by freezing the pay of government workers? No, maybe not.

But, why stop at freezing the bloated salaries of the government worker? Why not a serious pay cut across the board, say 20-25% until the budget is balanced. That may be a good start. "Freezing their salaries," when I heard it, caused me to think, "Big deal, is that all you got, Mr. President?" What a sacrifice!

Oh, and Mr. President, what about eliminating 20 or 30 of your unconfirmed, unaccountable czars? That alone would save the taxpayer a cool $3 mill!

The Importance of the 2010 Election

"To sin by silence, when we should protest makes cowards out of men."

--- Ella Wheeler Wilcox, poet

Here is an email I received from T.D. who had forwarded to me earlier in the week.

""Just thought I would share with you a little bit of what we heard at last night's Republican dinner here in Crawford County, Ohio. John Kasich (running for Governor of Ohio) was the keynote speaker. Also present were many politicians, most notably, Bob Latta, our U.S. Congressman. Mike and I walked up to Bob and thanked him for his conservative voting record and voiced our concern about what is going on in Washington. He made some funny botox remarks about Pelosi and then agreed with us that we have every reason to be concerned.

"As there were others waiting to talk to him, our time was brief. Although what took place later that evening should make chills run up and down everyone's spine to hear. He (Latta) asked to speak a few words at the end of the night and went up on stage. He proceeded to tell the crowd how bad things really are in Washington. He said if he could tell us even half of what the agenda is and what this administration plans to do to our country we couldn't sleep at night. He said he only gets 4 to 4-1/2 hours of sleep a night and worries constantly about what they want to do to this country. He said that Pelosi, Reid and (Soetoro aka) Obama have to be stopped. He said, "You know, you always hear this is the most important election blah blah blah, but I am telling you people...whatever you have to do to wake people up you need to do! We have got to vote them out in 2010 or with the things they have planned for this country we won't even be a country by 2020! Ten years."

"You could see the look of almost desperation on his face.

"He talked about the huge debt. He talked about how the Congressional Office (CBO) gets their "figures". He sits on the finance committee and listens to the ramblings of Geithner and Bernanke. He said, "If you think that the Chinese won't hold this over us with all our debt you have another thought coming. Our children will have nothing.""

"I don't care if you have to go out door to door, tell at least 10 people who will then tell 10 people. We have to do this. This is the single most important election ever in the history of this country. The change that (Soetoro alias) Obama promised us is NOT the change people thought he meant."

Where's the Budget?

I received an email from U.S. House of Representatives member Scott Garrett (5th – NJ). He sent a YouTube video link (embedded below) in which he asks a $1.64 Trillion question, “Where’s the federal budget?” That question is more than relevant in an environment where the Democrat controlled Congress is in the throes of a voracious, an unaffordable, and an unsustainable spending binge.

In his video Representative Garrett quotes Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) the Democratic Chairman of the Budget Committee as having said in 2006 that a Congress that cannot pass the budget is a Congress that cannot govern. Amen.

Apparently, that matter of business can wait until after the November elections. If the guileful one, Nancy Pelosi, would dare reveal what her spending actually looks like practically, then more Americans would be even angrier …

Ohioans, vote NO on Issues 1 & 2 on 5/4/10

ISSUE 1 – NO TO MORE DEBT

The following editorial was written by businessman David W. Johnson and can be found in its entirety at
www.AmericanRoundtable.com.

“There is a $500 Million ticking time bomb of debt that may well balloon by an additional $700 Million if the voters of Ohio are duped into approving Issue One on the May 4th Primary ballot. This ballot issue would extend the life of the Ohio Third Frontier program which has already spent almost $1 Billion supposedly transforming the “intellectual property” of Ohio’s universities into new high tech ventures at a multitude of corporations in Ohio and at some headquartered outside of Ohio.

“As noble a goal as this may be, Ohio can ill afford to continue to spend billions and billions of dollars that it doesn’t have. Though Issue One is billed as merely a “bond issuance”, and not a new tax - what is a state bond issuance if not a pledge of future tax revenue and perhaps future tax increases?

“With Ohio already facing a $7 Billion structural deficit…plus a projected $4 Billion unemployment loan to the federal government due in 2010…you would think that our elected officials would pull in the reigns and exercise fiduciary caution. But clearly this has not happened. Of course, it’s not their money. It is yours and mine…and future generations…that will be stuck with the tab long after the current politicos have retired and are enjoying their rich (unfunded pensions ...”

ISSUE 2 – NO TO GAMBLING & TO MISUSING THE CONSTITUTION

The following information is an excerpt of an editorial written by Dave Zanotti, President of American Roundtable and also found on
www.AmericanRoundable.com.

“It took casino consultants 22 years of defeats and over $100 million in wasted campaign spending to figure out that the way to win in Ohio was to cut the number of players at the ballot box. Casino gambling passed in Ohio because the amendment making it legal was placed on the 2009 off-election year ballot where voter turnout was fractional. Now the casino owners, with the willing help of the General Assembly, are placing a constitutional amendment on the May 2010 primary election ballot where turnout will be even smaller.

“The casino “big-dogs” got themselves in a jam in Central Ohio. The people there don’t want a casino. A handful of well-connected people there don’t want the casino near their business development either. So, Penn National agreed to move the casino to “the other side of town” and a much larger facility. Only problem is – the constitutional amendment Penn National wrote in 2009 prohibits the move. So in 2010, Penn National is using a primary election vote to erase their mess up and move their bigger casino into somebody else’s neighborhood.

“The casino industry, with the willing help of the General Assembly, has painted Ohio into a corner. The state constitution and the ballot box are now part of Penn National’s business plan. Even sadder, Penn has figured out that to expand their empire, all they have to do is place an amendment in a primary election where the majority of Ohio voters do not vote because they have no reason to vote …"

2nd Annual Tea Party Protests, April 15, 2010!

It began a year ago with a TV commentator, Rick Santelli, who suggested the need for a new Tea Party protest in response to the debt expanding, erratic spending policies of the new administration that came into power in late January 2009. The Tea Party Movement has grown and has gained momentum. It now stands as a formidable challenge to Leftist government now in power. That government has begun to attack the movement as a bunch of racists, Tim McVea want-to-bes, homophobes, morons . . . We have their attention. Their tactic is to attack any and all opposition. We are opposition to all that the socialist Left wants to do in carrying out their radical agenda.

This is the year that more and more Americans must find a tea party near them and join the protest on Thursday, April 15th and participate. The protest needs to continue to grow and culminate in the biggest Tea Party protest of all - the 2010 and 2012 elections where those who voted for the Bailouts, the Stimulus package, health care 'reform,' cap and trade must be purged from their entrenched positions in Washington, D.C. Conservatives must take this place and undo the damage done by the last two Presidents and the last two Congresses!

Sen. Jim Bunning makes a pitch for accountability

Here is a annoying fund-raising letter I received from a typical Democratic candidate, who blasts Senator Bunning for wanting to know how a bill will be funded before agreeing to allow it to move forward.

A Republican Senator's act of blocking an emergency extension of unemployment benefits reveals how out of touch the GOP is with the plight of out-of-work families and confirms that we need to hold our Senators and would-be Senators accountable by looking at their campaign reports.

Dear Greg,

Last week retiring U.S. Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY), managed to halt an emergency extension of unemployment benefits and COBRA assistance, even though he knew they'd expire on Sunday night. He punched hundreds of thousands of out-of-work Americans right in the gut.

What's wrong with this guy? By threatening to vote against "cloture" (closure of filibuster debate) he stymied the efforts of the rest of Congress to help hard-hit American families muddle through a little longer on unemployment benefits until the recovery from the worst economic crisis in generations finally reaches them. Sen. Bunning is so out of touch he complained that maintaining his opposition caused him to miss a college basketball game.

Despite his claimed concern for the deficit, I'd say Sen. Bunning's real game has been the money game. Banks get bailed out, CEOs get their bonuses, but when it's time to help American families, federal deficit means no relief for them. Sen. Bunning and the party that has historically taken us in the wrong direction are using the 1994 playbook once again on America. If power and self aggrandizement is your real game, you'll take money from the highest bidder, and it's to your advantage to sack progress even if it means you miss a basketball game.

There are signs the economic recovery is stirring, but the recession has cost our fellow Americans eight million jobs. The unemployment rate remains staggeringly high, and in reality is higher than reported because it doesn't account for Americans who've stopped looking for work.

No matter what a lame duck Kentucky Senator thinks, I know Ohioans are hard working. They are frustrated, because they just want to work. When Senators are as out of touch as Jim Bunning, it's a sign of the times. How long will an unresponsive Congress whittle away at the middle class and push down hard working Americans who just want to work and take care of their families?

We need to hold our Senators and would-be Senators accountable by looking at their campaign reports. If they get money from banks that got TARP money, we can't expect they'll vote for needed banking reforms to protect consumers and hold the line on whopping bank bonuses. If they get their money from the people to whom they dole out money, it's an incestuous relationship that makes government work for the rich and not for those who work hard and play by the rules.

Blame the filibuster if you will, but the real problem is what's fueling this insanity in the first place. Ask yourself why this is happening. And when you answer honestly, remember that it's only people like you and me who can change that. Let your voice be heard, contribute what you wish or can as an everyday American, and keep talking and fighting for courage in the Senate.

I will.

Jennifer Brunner
Ohio Secretary of State & Democratic U. S. Senate candidate

Here is the response that I would send to the current Ohio Secretary of State if I thought that it would do any good . . .

Dear Jen Jen:

Thank you for your lovely letter lambasting lame-duck Kentucky Senator and great baseball player Jim Bunning. What is wrong with Senator Bunting wanting to know where the money will come from to fund this additional generous outlay of money we don’t have for this or for ANY reason?

In your letter you don’t offer any source of funding for this additional government outlay. Isn’ that at all important to you, Miss Moneybag? Senator Bunning rightly drew the line with this bill. Jen, are you another Soetoro/Obama-Pelosi-Reid socialist who cares nothing about indebting future generations? He merely attempted to get peoples attention about a growing deficit that the Democratic led Congress and President have worsened since the Bush years.

If the attitude expressed in your letter is an accurate reflection of your philosophy as a want-to-be United States Senator, Jen, we do not need you there. There are enough tax and spenders in Congress already. We do not need you further mucking it up.

I won’t (vote for you).
