Critical Healthcare Cloture Vote

I would urge everyone to send the following message to their Senators. Please act fast.

Dear Senator _______,

Last week the House of Representatives voted by a very narrow margin to approve a $1.3 trillion takeover of our health care. I urge you to oppose Sen. Harry Reid’s “motion to proceed” to this House-passed bill. One of my many concerns is that Sen. Reid will introduce a version of the bill that does not contain the Stupak-Pitts amendment to prevent federal funds being spent on elective abortions in the public option or to subsidize health plans that cover elective abortions. This amendment had overwhelming bipartisan support in the House, and its passage was critical to passage of the healthcare bill. Consideration of a healthcare bill that does not contain the Stupak-Pitts amendment would be contrary to the will of the majority of Americans, who oppose tax-payer funding of abortion. However, I further urge you to oppose any healthcare takeover bill. Congress does not have the constitutional authority or the moral authority to mandate that all Americans purchase healthcare insurance. Please work instead toward constitutionally appropriate government reforms that would have the effect of lowering healthcare costs – reforms such as allowing competition between health insurance across state lines; capping excessive malpractice awards; getting serious about Medicare reform; and allowing a dollar for dollar tax deduction for contributions for agencies that assist the underinsured.

Amnesty Aborted For Now

The Senate failed to "invoke cloture" on the Bush-McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill for the second time Friday. The final vote was 45-50.

What does this mean? The incomprehensible mega-billion taxpayer- funded federal-treasury-depleting payoff to illegal alien desperadoes, infamously known as the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform [Amnesty] Bill” was been defeated for now.

Without grassroots pressure, however, the Senate would have passed this bill weeks ago. However, the battle is not over. The power-hungry-radical -leftist- lead Democrats and traitor-to-conservative-principles RINOs, the bipartisan rule of law breakers, will regurgitate amnesty again-- sooner rather than later.

Newt Gingrich commented today in an email that “When Washington quit work last week; it looked as though the disastrous Bush-McCain-Kennedy immigration bill was dead.

“As I write this, however, it is now clear that the Bush Administration is determined to force it through with raw power, despite the fact that a large and increasingly vocal majority of Americans oppose it.

“Every recent survey has indicated that the American people think it is better to drop this bill and start over. But the power brokers and special interests in Washington feel otherwise.

“The White House press statement Sunday trumpeted: "This Bill Is Alive and Well"

Newt goes on to suggest that we contact our Senators immediately before President Bush’s supposed meeting with GOP Senator’s tomorrow, when he will apparently do some slick convincing and/or arm twisting . . . This bill was very bad when it was proposed, it was bad last Friday and remains such today and tomorrow. President Bush, Senators Kennedy and McCain, do you not her the cry of Americans everywhere:
