2013: A Conservative Congress v. A Liberal President?

Conservative Leader US Senator Jim DeMint

Being absolutely disgusted with the choices that the two major political parties offer me by way of Presidential candidates, Romney and Obama who are both liberals at their core, I will expend my energy and resources in trying to insure that at least the Congress gains more conservative voices in this fall’s election. I wholeheartedly recommend to fellow conservatives, fellow Christians, and former Republicans that they support Senator Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservative Fund (SCF). I quote from a recent email I received from SCF.

I don’t agree with the following statement about the presidential election made by Senator DeMint:
Conservatives are rightly focused on the presidential race this year, but winning the White House — as critical as it is — won’t be enough to save the country we love

But, I do agree with the second part of Senator DeMint’s contention:
(We can’t save the country) without a strong, conservative majority in the United States Senate.
Without a conservative Senate, we won't repeal Obamacare
Without a conservative Senate, we won't balance the budget.
Without a conservative Senate, we won't secure our borders.

Without a conservative Senate, we won't stop the bailouts.
And without a conservative Senate, we won't enact the pro-growth policies needed to get America back to work.
We need to focus on the Senate and House, Congress. Ideally we need to get rid of House Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader McConnell. A conservative majority Congress will have to offset whichever liberal Presidential candidate occupies the White House.
Here are SCF current endorsements:

·     Josh Mandel (Ohio)

·     Ted Cruz (Texas)

·     Mark Neumann (Wisconsin)

·     Jeff Flake (Arizona)

·     Richard Mourdock (Indiana)
These candidates believe in the principles that make America great and understand the critical role the U.S. Constitution plays in preserving our freedoms
These leaders also have records that prove they're the real deal. And each of them has shown the courage to stand up to their own party when it was necessary.
So if you agree that winning a conservative majority in the U.S. Senate is vital to our nation's future and if you're willing to engage in these races even when the media ignores them, then please do two things today.
Make a contribution to SCF’s endorsed candidates. Without financial support, these candidates won't be able to win…

"F" for Failed Federally Mandated Education

Quote/Unquote

. . . Federal education mandates have turned our schools into politically correct day care centers - where everything that's good about America is bad, and vice versa. - Senator Jim DeMint from his new book, Now or Never, Saving America from Economic Collapse.

Jim DeMint Takes the Lead

"You can't be a fiscal conservative and not be a social conservative."
---  U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, (R-SC), arguing that moral decline has had fed the growth of government. Fox News, November 9, 2010.

I agree with Sen. DeMint. I disagree with the Tea Party Patriot organization and other in the Tea Party Movement that we focus exclusively on fiscal matters, as important as those are. Their emphasis and focus is strictly on fiscal issues and they shun social issues. I think they do a good work up to a point. However, they are missing a key ingredient of Conservatism, the social issues. This is what separates conservatives from libertarians or liberals.

In a February 2011 CitizenLink.com article, "Cost of Discipleship," DeMint is quoted as saying, “I think, increasingly, while some are calling for a separation of the social and fiscal issues, more and more people realize that [many] of our fiscal problems in this country are related to the breakdown of families, unwed births, as well as other problems, such as school dropout, drug use, juvenile delinquency,” he said. “You cannot really ignore it if you are a fiscal conservative. We need to recognize that good social policy is really important to the fabric of our country.”

We currently have a wicked social policy. We have big government who wants be God. DeMint is further quoted, “American believers know that their rights come from God, and they sense that our government is trying to displace God as the rights giver.  People are not coming to ask the government to become more religious — or even to promote morality — but to stop promoting immorality and to stop purging faith from the private sector.”

It behooves Americans to listen to a true statesman, a true leader, Senator DeMint. What a contrast he is to the person who currently occupies the White House!

For a Conservative Congress

“…For too many years, Congress has ignored or exacerbated the looming fiscal crisis created by overspending. Last fall's elections were largely a call to finally deal with this imminent threat, and the vote on the debt ceiling is Congress's opportunity to begin making real progress. We can do so without jeopardizing the full faith and credit of our country—and we should.”  - Senator Pat Toomey, R-PA

Hat tip goes to Senator Jim DeMint, who sent me an email containing his timely letter to America’s conservative voters. See the letter below.

Dear Fellow Conservative:

I'm writing to share an important Wall Street Journal op-ed written by newly-elected Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA), which outlines how we can freeze the debt ceiling without defaulting on our debt obligations. Senator Toomey's argument is nothing short of a game changer in the debt limit debate.

Senator Toomey correctly points out that if the debt limit is reached later this year, the government will still have plenty of money to service the national debt. He writes,

"In fact, if Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling, the federal government will still have far more than enough money to fully service our debt. Next year, for instance, about 6.5% of all projected federal government expenditures will go to interest on our debt, and tax revenue is projected to cover about 67% of all government expenditures. With roughly 10 times more income than needed to honor our debt obligations, why would we ever default?"

Americans should reject the sky-is-falling-hysteria coming from President Obama and demand that Congress stop the debt and balance the budget. You can add your voice to this effort by signing the "Stop the Debt" pledge at http://StopTheDebtPledge.com.

Now is the time to make fundamental, long-term budget reforms that will stop the spending and save our country from fiscal ruin.

When the Senate considers the debt limit next month, Republicans must do everything they can to block an increase in the debt limit. Senator Toomey has presented the facts they need to fight back when they're accused of threatening to put the nation in default.

I want to thank each of you who helped elect Senator Toomey last year by supporting the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF). Without your support, he wouldn't be in a place to influence this critical debate.

Respectfully,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

P.S. Senator Toomey's leadership on this issue is an important reminder of why we must continue to elect true conservatives to the Senate. Please help us build the resources we need to win races in 2012 by making a contribution to SCF today at http://SenateConservatives.com.
