Ohio's Religious Freedom Restoration Act Withdrawn From Consideration - H.B. 376

In a matter of hours after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed Arizona's Religious Freedom Restoration Act, S.B. 1062, sponsors of Ohio's Religious Freedom Restoration Act H.B. 376, withdrew it from consideration. Co-sponsors of the legislation were not notified of the motion to withdraw until they read it in the papers this morning. H.B. 376 had enjoyed bipartisan support and had 43 co-sponsors. The bill's sponsors, Rep. Timothy Derickson (R-53) and Rep. Bill Patmon (D-10), withdrew the bill from consideration with the following statement,

"The intent of HB 376 was to ensure Ohioans' religious freedom by protecting their ability to freely worship and preventing any laws from burdening the free exercise of religion."

"However, with the controversy that is occurring in Arizona, we feel that it is in the best interest of Ohioans that there be no further consideration of this legislation," the statement says. "Protecting people's personal liberties – religious or otherwise – is of the upmost importance to members of the Ohio House, and we want to ensure that no law that we pass in this chamber is misconstrued to be discriminatory in any way."

The statement says the bill "stemmed from a well-meaning place," but that they don't want to allow for "confusion" around the issue.

"Discrimination of any kind was never the intent of this legislation. While our commitment to religious freedom remains constant, it is in the best interest of all Ohioans that no further consideration be given to HB 376."

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Butler (R-Dayton) said in a statement, "I respect the sponsors' wishes on this matter, and as such, no future consideration will be given to HB 376."

Members of the House Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to "indefinitely postpone" consideration of the bill later Wednesday.

After the committee meeting, Butler told Hannah News that indefinitely postponing the bill "effectively kills it."

OCA President Chris Long made the following statement, "The Ohio Christian Alliance, along with Citizens for Community Values, is dismayed by the actions of the legislators to so quickly scuttle this legislation that would assure people of faith in Ohio that they would not face discrimination by practicing their religious faith and convictions."

"As Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, in an interview with Megyn Kelly, stated 'Where do Christians now go to receive protection under the law?"' Mr. Perkins had referenced in his interview Christian bakers and photographers who were targeted with lawsuits as a result of exercising their religious right of conscience. State entities have actually injoined lawsuits against individuals who declined to participate in homosexual weddings by either baking and serving the cake or by being the wedding photography coordinator."

Long continued, " The action by Governor Jan Brewer and the action by some Ohio legislators does not end the issue. Our First Amendment rights of freedom of religion are far too important and fundamental to all rights of individuals under the Constitution. To so lightly toss them aside with little regard is a crime against the ideals of freedom itself. This issue is sounding the alarm for all freedom-loving Americans. If religious people can be compelled against their will to perform acts and services against their conscience, where does the tyranny end?"

A dangerous bill has been introduced into the Ohio House and Senate. The bill, under the guise of discrimination, will eliminate some Religious freedoms. The proposed law is titled the Equal Housing and Employment Act. If passed, the bill seeks to add “sexual orientation and “gender identity” to the protected list of gender, race, age, religion, that are punishable on the basis of discrimination. It is estimated that seventeen Ohio cities have passed these so-called anti-discrimination ordinances. However, we can not find one documented case where discrimination has actually been proven. If mass discrimination is not occurring then why do they want to pass this bill? 
 
Answer: Like Obamacare, it’s what comes after they pass this Bill that matters. We now know, after twenty years, that these discrimination laws are a disguised Trojan horse. For example, once homosexual activists get discrimination laws on the books, they will then move to the next level and force businesses to include anti-discrimination polices or will disallow them from doing business with the city or state. Another example was this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cincinnati. Homosexual activists were told they could not participate in the parade and cried discrimination as the reason. Cincinnati passed an anti-discrimination ordinance and a second ordinance has now been introduced. Building upon the first anti-discrimination ordinance, the new ordinance says it’s discriminatory to not allow homosexual activists into any parade if the City pays any of the fees, such as cleaning up after the parade. They call it equality – we call it bullying and an attack on Religious freedoms.
 
On November 25, 1992 Cincinnati City Council passed a similar ordinance claiming homosexual activists were just like African Americans and deserved to be treated as a minority class. An organization associated with CCV, called Equal Rights not Special Rights, led the effort to collect 20,000 signatures and the issue was placed on the ballot. The people of Cincinnati voted in 1993 to change Article XII of the City Charter from allowing the City Council to pass any laws based on sexual orientation. The voters approved the change by a 62%-38% majority. The vote proved that the choice of someone’s bed partner does not classify them as a minority class entitled to preferential treatment or special rights. This disproves the popular idea being spread today that equates the push of homosexual activists to that of African Americans and the civil rights fight in the 1960’s. The change to the City Charter was then challenged in the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals by homosexual activists. The Federal Court ruled not once, but twice unanimously, that the people of Cincinnati had the right to not allow preferential treatment based on an individual’s sex partner or sexual orientation.
 
Because homosexuality is not a suspect class or quasi-suspect class, and “divested no one of any fundamental right” the court upheld the right of the voters to tell Cincinnati City Council they can not pass special rights laws.

Here is an excerpt from the 6^th Circuit Court of Appeals:

“Accordingly, because the Cincinnati Charter Amendment targeted no suspect class or quasi-suspect class, and divested no one of any fundamental right, it was not subject to either form of heightened constitutional scrutiny (namely "strict scrutiny" or "intermediate scrutiny"). ....”this court observed that the Cincinnati Charter Amendment advanced a variety of valid community interests, including enhanced associational liberty for its citizenry, conservation of public resources, and augmentation of individual autonomy imbedded in personal conscience and morality. Thus, Article XII satisfied minimal constitutional requirements”.

The people of Cincinnati later repealed Article XII of the City Charter. The 2004 vote to repeal Article XII was titled Issue 3.

However, the 6^th Circuit Court of Appeals case still stands as case law in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Michigan that allows cities in those four states to prohibit Special Rights laws based on sexual orientation.

Hat tip to caller Dave, who I just heard on the Saturday morning Bob Connors Show on WTVN radio in Columbus, Ohio, and who summarized in a word what is going on in Wastingaton, D.C. He referred to the current (Barry Soetoro aka Barack) Obama Administration, the Nancy Pelosi (ms.-)led U.S. House of Representatives and the Harry Reid (mis-)led U.S. Senate as LOOTERS. How very apt a description for what has and continues to go on in this nation. It started at the end of the Bush Administration and has accelerated since January 20th of this year. I guess we could refer to 2009 as the 'Year of the Looters.' You could even say that the 'winners' of the 2006 and 2008 elections, have turned out to be high octane 'looters.'

At an accelerated pace, these looters are frantically trying to redistribute the wealth of this nation. They know that they have a limited time to do their dirty work. The 2010 Election may be the Soetoro/Obama-Pelosi-Reid axis of evil's Waterloo. Hence,

* bailouts,

* TARP,

* Cap and Trade,

* Copenhagen global warming sovereignty stripping and other U.N. sponsored treaties,

Forty years ago, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn in New York City resisted police harassment that had become all too common for members of the lesbian, [homosexual], bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Out of this resistance, the LGBT rights movement in America was born. During LGBT Pride Month, we commemorate the events of June 1969 and commit to achieving equal justice under law [a lie, actually special rights and privileges and seeking to implement special class status afforded to no other Americans] for LGBT Americans.

LGBT Americans have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that continue to strengthen [destroy] the fabric of American society [So, how have they been hindered, when in fact they are in the upper echelon of wage earners in America and strategically hold key positions in industry, academia, entertainment, politics?]. There are many well-respected LGBT leaders in all professional fields, including the arts and business communities. LGBT Americans also mobilized the Nation to respond to the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic [a lie, at the same time homosexuals refuse to acknowledge that they are largely the cause and are responsible for its continual spread of that virulent virus among the homosexual, bi-sexual and homosexual communities] and have played a vital role in broadening this country's response [a lie, they have done everything they can to obstruct and deny their over proportional complicity. There behavior is a primary cause] to the HIV pandemic.

Due in no small part to the determination and dedication of the LGBT rights movement [actually, they are absolutely intolerant, aggressive, intimidating, coercive, mean, destructive, and employ any and all, even questionable, practices to advance their evil, dangerous agenda], more LGBT Americans are living their lives openly today [thanks to a decline in morality and our godless, secular humanistic man-centered schools] than ever before. I am proud [you should be ashamed, actually] to be the first President to appoint openly LGBT candidates [which think that it is more important to advance the homosexual agenda, than it is to do what is right for America as a whole] Senate-confirmed positions in the first 100 days of an Administration. These individuals embody the best qualities we seek in public servants, and across my Administration -- in both the White House and the Federal agencies -- openly LGBT employees are doing their jobs with distinction and professionalism [serving self-interest of the narrow homosexual agenda over the interests of the nation] LGBT rights movement has achieved great progress, but there is more work to be done. LGBT youth should feel safe to learn without the fear of harassment [But, actually many children may be being recruited into this lifestyle in order to 'reproduce' this unnatural social relationship], and LGBT families and seniors should be allowed to live their lives with dignity and respect.

My Administration has partnered with the LGBT community to advance a wide range of initiatives. At the international level, I have joined efforts at the [godless and anti-American] United Nations to decriminalize [yet, it remains an abomination and immoral in the eyes of both the Judeo-Christian God and the god of Islam] homosexuality [the sin of sodomy] around the world. Here at home, I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal [a lie, they are special rights above other persons who are experiencing real rather than perceived or imagined discrimination such as children and the elderly] rights to LGBT Americans. These measures include [in other words, the entire Soetoro/Obama's Homosexual Agenda]

• enhancing hate crimes [thereby making it illegal for churches and others tell the truth about homosexual behavior – that it is unhealthy, immoral, unnatural, and abnormal] laws,
• supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, [civil unions are a creation of the state and are unnecessary and contrary to all civilized society and Judeo-Christian beliefs, principles and values upon which this nation was founded]
• outlawing discrimination in the workplace, [ENDA, if passed will force employers to abandon and compromise their principles and beliefs or drive them out of business]
• ensuring adoption rights, [the optimal way to raise and nourish a child is in an intact home where a married mother and a father and present] and
• ending the existing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy [against all the commonsense and advice of military leaders and thereby weakening the morals and morale of the military] in a way that strengthens [a lie, it actually will weaken] our Armed Forces and [will threaten] our national security.
• We must also commit ourselves to fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic by both reducing the number of HIV infections [a lie, you will not advocate the telling the truth about homosexuality in that HIV is spread through multiple sexual partners, homosexual promiscuity] and
• providing care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS across the United States [in contrast to those who live responsible lives and do not partake in risky, unhealthy, immoral behavior such as homosexuality].

These issues affect not only the LGBT community, but also our entire Nation [you betcha, the Nation is adversely affected and infected by government commendation and fostering of the homosexual agenda]. As long as the promise of equality for all remains unfulfilled [a lie, homosexuals and lesbians and others are protected under the same laws as every other American], all Americans are affected. If we can work together to advance the principles upon which our Nation was founded, [traditional one-man, one woman marriage, adherence to Biblical truth we would reject all aspects of the so-called homosexual agenda!] every American will benefit. During LGBT Pride Month, I call upon the LGBT community, the Congress, and the American people to work together to promote equal [a lie, you call for special privileges and rights not accorded to another other groups based solely on a particular behavior alone] rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby [you grossly misuse that authority and power and] proclaim [in blatant opposition to all God-given biblical truth, commonsense, scientific evidence, and ignoring public health concerns] June 2009 as Lesbian, [homosexual], Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch regularly asks its online readers questions. Mostly the questions are parochial or arcane in nature. Today they had a serious and very poignant and critical question. Here is their question and my reply.

The Hot Issue: Should Ohio have a law giving equal rights to (homosexual/lesbian) people in employment and housing?

A better way to phrase the question would be, “Should Ohio grant special rights and privileges to homosexuals, lesbians and ‘transgendered’ individuals in employment and housing?” Or, “Should Ohio create a new classification of discrimination based primarily on the preferred sexual behavior of a minority, who choose what is considered by many as abnormal, immoral, unnatural and unhealthy behavior?” Or, “Should Ohio have a law granting SPECIAL rights to homosexuals, lesbians, transgendered individuals in matters of employment and housing?”

A MARKED BLACK WOMAN

This is the second in a series of articles addressing the absolute absurdity of establishing anti-discrimination laws on behalf of a peculiar privileged group of individuals whose preferred sexual behavior flies in the face of established values and mores of civilized society. This article discusses one woman who dared challenge this “politically correct” but wrong headed notion of “sexual orientation discrimination.” Click here to read the introductory article of this series.

THE PROVOCATION

Michael Miller, editor of the Toledo (Ohio) Free Press wrote a provocative article on April 8, 2008 titled, “(Homosexual & Lesbian) rights and wrongs.” In the article he is extremely biased toward the “homosexual” cause, citing his dear same-sex friends as deserving of special treatment. How dare anyone deny these people their “rights?”

He makes the following goofy comment, “It's basic Golden Rule territory: don't judge people for the color of their skin or their physical challenges, and don't judge them for their sexuality.” The Golden Rule, as I understand it means to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Okay. He tries to equate racial discrimination and discrimination of the disabled with those persons who choose to live a certain lifestyle and choose to behave in a certain way.

He makes the leap “don’t judge them for their sexuality.” Even though that sexuality is immoral, unnatural, unhealthy and abnormal? Am I not to discern what is right or wrong? Does he want to codify wrong behavior? He refers several times to “(homosexual/lesbian) rights.” What does that mean? Are these people to have “special” rights ordained by the government to “bless” their immoral, unnatural, unhealthy and abnormal behavior? There are laws on the books already that cover any crime that might be committed against any homosexual, lesbian or transgendered individual. Why should homosexuals be granted a status above that of a helpless, innocent child or a frail elderly helpless woman? Why should a crime ruled a hate crime deserve more punishment than the same crime perpetrated on the child or the woman who need more protection than many other individuals in society.

A TRUTHFUL RESPONSE

Here is Crystal Dixon’s written opinion, “(Homosexual/Lesbian) rights and wrongs: another perspective" of April 18, 2008 as posted online at the Toledo Free Press. Ms. Dixon wrote it in response to Mr. Miller's op ed piece. It is so straightforward and so truthful that it apparently ticked off University of Toledo President enough that he fired her from her position shortly after its publication.

"I read with great interest Michael Miller's April 6 column, "Gay Rights and Wrongs."

"I respectfully submit a different perspective for Miller and Toledo Free Press readers to consider.

"First, human beings, regardless of their choices in life, are of ultimate value to God and should be viewed the same by others. At the same time, one's personal choices lead to outcomes either positive or negative.

"As a Black woman who happens to be an alumnus of the University of Toledo's Graduate School, an employee and business owner, I take great umbrage at the notion that those choosing the homosexual lifestyle are "civil rights victims." Here's why. I cannot wake up tomorrow and not be a Black woman. I am genetically and biologically a Black woman and very pleased to be so as my Creator intended. Daily, thousands of homosexuals make a life decision to leave the gay lifestyle evidenced by the growing population of PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex Gays) and Exodus International just to name a few. Frequently, the individuals report that the impetus to their change of heart and lifestyle was a transformative experience with God; a realization that their choice of same-sex practices wreaked havoc in their psychological and physical lives. Charlene E. Cothran, publisher of Venus Magazine, was an aggressive, strategic supporter of gay rights and a practicing lesbian for 29 years, before she renounced her sexuality and gave Jesus Christ stewardship of her life. The gay community vilified her angrily and withdrew financial support from her magazine, upon her announcement that she was leaving the lesbian lifestyle. Rev. Carla Thomas Royster, a highly respected New Jersey educator and founder and pastor of Blessed Redeemer Church in Burlington, NJ, married to husband Mark with two sons, bravely exposed her previous life as a lesbian in a tell-all book. When asked why she wrote the book, she responded "to set people free... I finally obeyed God."

"Economic data is irrefutable: The normative statistics for a homosexual in the USA include a Bachelor's degree: For gay men, the median household income is $83,000/yr. (Gay singles $62,000; gay couples living together $130,000), almost 80% above the median U.S. household income of $46,326, per census data. For lesbians, the median household income is $80,000/yr. (Lesbian singles $52,000; Lesbian couples living together $96,000); 36% of lesbians reported household incomes in excess of $100,000/yr. Compare that to the median income of the non-college educated Black male of $30,539. The data speaks for itself . . .

"My final and most important point. There is a divine order. God created human kind male and female (Genesis 1:27). God created humans with an inalienable right to choose. There are consequences for each of our choices, including those who violate God's divine order. It is base human nature to revolt and become indignant when the world or even God Himself, disagrees with our choice that violates His divine order. Jesus Christ loves the sinner but hates the sin (John 8:1-11.) Daily, Jesus Christ is radically transforming the lives of both straight and gay folks and bringing them into a life of wholeness: spiritually, psychologically, physically and even economically. That is the ultimate right . . ."

Crystal Dixon, was the interim Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at the University of Toledo (Ohio) when she had the sheer audacity to step off the plantation and express her non-politically correct position on so-called same-sex “civil rights.” You see as the movie, Expelled: No Inelegance Allowed so aptly exposed the mindset found on most of our colleges is such that free speech and the free expression of one’s beliefs are unacceptable. You must tow academia politburo’s decrees.

Isn’t it ironic that a black woman, who is one of the true victims of racism or discrimination, loses her job over a false claim of discrimination by a class of persons whose behavioral choice is as repulsive and as abhorrent as it is considered acceptable and appropriate by the ruling political elite of academia? Any “same-sex discrimination” is a false and undeserving civil rights issue.

THE AFTERMATH

On May 16, 2008 Michael Miller, author of the original article that set in motion the chain of events which culminated with the firing of Ms. Dixon, wrote the following in an article, “The media and the damage done." Maybe it should have been titled, “Michael Miller and the damage I wrought on an innocent black woman.”

“Dixon's comments, which disparaged the struggle of (homosexual/lesbian) civil rights, compromise the stated mission of her former employer, the University of Toledo. It is impossible to reconcile her personal beliefs with UT's values and responsibility to be open and accessible to all students. Dixon compromised the institution's reputation and standing with her narrow and ill-informed remarks.

“And UT was wrong to fire her.

“I know there are many shades of gray to this conversation, but the simplest reduction is this: Crystal Dixon was fired for expressing her opinion. That's not supposed to happen in America. That the punishment was doled out by a university makes it that much more offensive.

"How many UT employees are going to rush to send letters or comments on controversial topics? The effect of the Dixon firing is a chilling of free speech rights. We can argue about common sense and employee loyalty and all the nuances of this case, but to reiterate, someone was fired for speaking her mind, and how can exceptions be made to free speech? Dixon did not yell “fire” in a crowded gay bath house, she expressed her mostly religious-based beliefs in a guest column.

Dixon voluntarily took a stand in a newspaper and has paid a terrible price. . .”

Crystal Dixon will be contesting her firing, as she should. She should win her lawsuit under the present laws. On her website Ms. Dixon says, “My case may become a landmark case on multiple fronts. The costs of this fight will be mammoth, but I will not be deterred from championing this cause. I will be working with a legal team of both a local attorney and the Thomas More Law Center on this cause.

However, if anti-discrimination laws against “sexual orientation discrimination” are passed in Ohio or in the United States, then people like Crystal Dixon will be fired, fined or even jailed for expressing their opinion or beliefs. That is one reason why these laws should never be enacted. And where they have been enacted should be overturned.

This is a new series of articles in which we will be exploring the depth and breath of the same-sex movement to reshape the American culture into the same-sex movement's own jaded image. We will be looking at several current examples of restrictions already imposed on the religious freedom of individuals, businesses and organizations.

These examples demonstrate religious intolerance on the part of courts, commissions, agencies and activist groups (such as the ACLU) in trying to take away the rights and freedoms of Americans. This is all being done on behalf of moneyed activist minorities, which are attempting to gain complete justification and complete assimilation into American society of their unnatural, unhealthy, abnormal and immoral choice of behavior. In other words, they are trying to legitimize their inexcusable behavior.

These lawsuits, rulings and judgments will multiply exponentially if and when the passage of the terrible and unnecessary Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) occurs. ENDA legislation is currently working its way through our federal Congress. State legislatures, such as Ohio, are also moving to enact similar special rights and privileges for homosexuals and lesbians and others following deviant lifestyle. This legislation is not only dangerous, but it is tyrannical.

Freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the ability to exercise one’s faith and convictions will be denied en mass. Individuals, businesses and organizations will be denied freedom of conscience. In trying to end so-called “discrimination” for one privileged, special class of persons (same-sex and other so-called alternate lifestyle practitioners), large segments of other persons (heterosexuals, Bible-believing business-owners, Christians, and Christian churches and ministries) will actually be discriminated against.

The Boy Scouts of America have already faced the attack of the same-sex movement. Homosexuals desperately want to become involved in the Boy Scout program. Why? Do they care about scouting? I don’t think so. They want to destroy one of the strong pillars of traditional American values and mores.

Among the cases that we will explore include a black woman, a small business out west, and a church on the east coast.

That is where I stand on the major issues [WHAT ABOUT ABORTION, THE KILLING OF BABIES, INNOCENT HUMAN BEINGS DENIED THE BASIC RIGHT TO LIFE?] of the day. Scurrilous Hate Crimes Law Halted (for Now)

Very good news, this past Friday the U.S. House and Senate Conference Committee removed the unnecessary and anti-Christian hate crimes amendment from the Defense Authorization Bill. This heinous so-called hate crimes bill or some form of it has been relentlessly pushed by ultra-liberal and near radical Senator Edward Kennedy for the past nine years.

Apparently enough Americans were up in arms, so to speak, over this vile attempt to ram this contentious bill through congress by hook or by crook. Senator Kennedy tried to attach his political pork to the critical defense spending bill, hoping that the President would be forced to sign it.

However, this tactic did not work. Mathew Staver of the Liberty Council said in an email that “Most pundits expected Kennedy's strategy of attaching the bill to a must-pass defense appropriations bill would succeed. But citizens . . . sent faxes and made phone calls and the message got through!”

Last Thursday the House disagreed with Kennedy’s Senate approved amendment and Friday the Senate decided to remove hate crimes from the defense bill. The conference report will be signed and the bill will be sent to the president for his signature.

In a WorldNetDaily.com article Michael Marcavage, of Repent America, is reported saying that his organization has members who were jailed for proclaiming their Christian beliefs on public streets in Philadelphia, because of state regulations similar to the federal proposal.

"It's extraordinarily important that it (the hate crimes amendment) has been removed from the defense reauthorization bill," he told WND. "But we know that the homosexual lobby is extraordinarily aggressive when it comes to obtaining special protections. That's exactly what this is."

Yes, the homosexual lobby and its lackeys will be back. We must stay ever vigilant . . .

ENDA: Wrong from the Start, Part 2 of 2

Today is part two of the two-part series (Click here for part one) on the heinous and totally unnecessary so-called Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) which recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

The movement to advance the homosexual agenda and the movement to keep and perpetuate a woman's "right" to choose to kill her baby, who is a living human being, are THE two major issues or threats face America. For me they are key determinants, deal breakers, as for whom I vote for in the 2008 primary and general elections for President and for Representative, for every elected office, for that matter.

ENDA, with an emphasis on the last syllable, "dah". What in the world is Congress doing passing such an abominable piece of legislation? There is only one reason and we will discuss it today. Again today I use much of the content of the Family Research Council's Washington Watch Weekly radio show from last weekend as the source of much of these two articles.

KEY AMENDMENT REJECTED

Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA) had offered an amendment, a provision, to ENDA when it was being debated that simply said, “To the supporters of this legislation, you indicate that this is not going to impact marriage at all and that it is not going to impact the definition of marriage . . .” His amendment was on a motion to recommit.

The Forbes’ amendment simply said this, “Nothing in this bill can be used by a court to change the definition of marriage between one man and one woman. The Democrat led proponents of the bill defeated that amendment. They not only defeated that amendment, but when they did defeat the amendment, they had a huge applause from the majority. Tellingly, THAT is the bottom line, what they want to do in the true purpose of this particular piece of legislation. ENDA passed the House with a vote of 235 to 184.

ENDA IS BUT ONE OF THREE DISTINCTIVE, DESTRUCTIVE & DISTURBING MOVEMENTS IN CONGRESS

Congressman Forbes identified three big movements that he sees happening in Congress now. ENDA encapsulates one of these movements.

Forbes indicated that the first detrimental movement taking place in the Congress is the removal of any kind of indication of FAITH at all in this country. This includes removing name of God from any display or acknowledgment of Him in the Capitol. . . For example, the new visitors’ center is being sterilized with revisionist history preventing the telling about our historical faith that we have had in this country. That is one major movement.

The second is a huge movement to attach HATE CRIMES legislation to our Armed Services legislation. And for the first time what this would mean is that literally pastors who get up in a church services and talk about the fact that marriage should be between on man and one woman or ANYTHING about HOMOSEXUALITY could be subjected to criminal penalties.

The third movement and that is what ENDA, if enacted, would accomplish is to now say that any hiring decision across the country, you can’t discriminate in any way based upon even a PERCEIVED sexual orientation problem. The real winners in this legislation are the trial lawyers because the HIDDEN clause in ENDA was one giving attorneys fees in any of these case. When a suit is filed, people are going to have to settle the suit because if they lose the suit, then they will not only have to pay penalties to the plaintiff, but also all the attorneys fees. Then the final thing was what is going to be the really bad part of this legislation – courts can use this legislation as a SPRINGBOARD to say that this slows the public policy of the Congress of the United States. With this public policy we cannot justify supporting ANY statutes around the country, state or federal that would say marriage is limited to one man or one woman. They will use this legislation to strike down those marriage statutes.

ENDA is part of the full court press of the Left. The worst thing is that the average American across the country doesn’t even know how that the Left orchestrated this move and how fast the new majority has acted to get this agenda on the table and moving forward.

TAKE ACTION NOW

First, people need to stand-up and realize what I said on the floor yesterday. Our country was built on a certain foundation of certain VALUES and BELIEFS that kept us strong and will continue to do so. We are seeing those values and beliefs constantly being eroded and the worst thing we can do is just sit in our seats and not stand up to make sure we are protecting those values and beliefs. People around the country ought to start stand up and say and act as they have had enough we are not going to the happen anymore.

The second good thing is we have a lot of good people in Congress who are trying to fight ENDA to make sure that this legislation doesn’t continue to expand like it is doing. Representative Forbes said, "I am optimistic that the President will VETO this legislation and give us another crack at trying to stop it." Forbes adds that he is “confident we will have enough votes in the House and Senate to sustain his veto.”

At the end of the radio program Ken Blackwell summarized by stating, “This is an important piece of legislation that will not be going away in this new Congress. The Democrat Party leadership will continue to push this RADICAL legislation through Congress.”

ENDA: Wrong from the Start, Part 1 of 2

The on-going abortion (anti-life) atrocity and an advancing (anti-one-man, one-woman marriage, anti-natural family) homosexual agenda are the two most critical issues facing America today. Recently the perverse, unnecessary and righteous-sounding Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) passed the U.S. House and is headed for passage in the Senate, if Senator Edward Kennedy gets his way.

Today's article is part one of a two-part series about this key piece of legislation. It has major ramifications for the health and life of America and for God-honoring people everywhere. See my previous article about ENDA.

WHAT ENDA MEANS FOR AMERICA

On the surface, a piece of legislation may be given an impressive, yet very deceptive, title. ENDA is an example of such deceit. The recently passed Employment Nondiscrimination Act (put-an-END-A to freedom of speech and freedom to the exercise of one’s faith) is an example of such deceit. Like so-called HATE CRIMES legislation this law is reprehensible and needs to be scrutinized in detail to expose its underlying nefarious purposes.

Ironically, the stated purpose of the bill is supposedly to stop “discrimination” against persons who practice homosexual behavior, but, instead, in the end it will discriminate against true Christian believers. The ultimate affect of this horrible law is the silencing of the proclamation of God’s inerrant Word and stifling of Christians’ right to express and live by their moral convictions. Therefore, anyone who refuses to compromise their biblical beliefs that homosexuality, specifically homosexual behavior, is immoral and abhorrent to God and is incompatible to any civilized society, and furthermore that marriage is between one man and one woman, that person or organization will be criminalized.

Actually, there is little or no discrimination against persons who seek sexual relations with the same sex. Most of the stories about alleged Hate Crimes and Discrimination against homosexuals are exaggerated or even prefabricated by a sympathetic and homosexual-agenda supportive media. As a matter of fact, many homosexuals and lesbians have very lucrative and politically powerful positions, far higher of a percentage than the general population as a whole. Additionally, there are already sufficient wage and labor regulation that cover the workplace. Persons and their supporters desiring to justify, to rationalize or to legitimize their illegitimate, immoral, unnatural and unhealthy behaviors seek this legislation.

Just as there is virtually no need for new immigration laws, only enforcement of existing laws, so there is no need for any more laws creating additional protected class, especially when we are talking about people who willingly choose to practice a certain type of behavior. It would be analogous to thieves seeking special laws protecting their activity.

Much of rest of the discussion in this article is based on remarks made by Representative Randy Forbes (R-VA-4th), a moderate Republican, made in an interview with Ken Blackwell of on the Family Research Council (FRC) Washington Watch Weekly radio show interviewer last weekend. I have transcribed some of the program's content below.

ENDA WARS AGAINST AMERICAN’S RIGHTS & VALUES

Ken Blackwell referred to ENDA as "one of the most damaging bills related to first amendment rights."

Congressman Forbes started his explanation by stating that ENDA was sponsored by the new Democrat majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. It is a further erosion of BASIC VALUES across the country, and will cause basic limitations on freedom of speech and freedom of action that many people of faith will experience across the nation. Just in the last couple of weeks in our Capitol (see my AGC … article) we have seen a huge movement in the Nation’s Capitol to:

(1) Remove God from the certification of flags
(2) Remove any kind of statement relating to faith in the Washington Monument
(3) Take any reference to God out of the flag folding ceremonies at our Veterans cemeteries.

ENDA DISSECTED

The ENDA bill was proclaimed by many liberal groups as crucial to advancing the homosexual agenda. They say that it is the most important homosexual vote that has ever been taken to date in the Congress of the United States. Furthermore, ENDA will serve as the FOUNDATION on which to build future (anti-marriage, pro-homosexual) legislation.

Congressman Forbes sees ENDA as having two major fearsome impacts. One, ENDA prohibits anybody in an employment situation from hiring or “discriminating” in any fashion against anyone based on actual or even PERCEIVED sexual orientation. This is the first time any legislation has ever been passed dealing with sexual orientation in the workplace, more bizarre and troublesome is that it establishes the notion of discrimination by employers of PERCEIVED sexual orientation. As will be noted later, ENDA will be another bonanza for trial attorneys.

Two, the other fear of this legislation is what has already has already occurred in state courts in Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Jersey. Legislation like ENDA, supposedly nondiscriminatory legislation, has been used to in conjunction with activist judges saying that the legislation shows STATE POLICY and they use that to tear down marriage statutes so that they can say you can no longer have a marriage statute that limits marriage to one man and one woman. The difficulty with this type of legislation is that it becomes a SPRINGBOARD so that the activist judges can use it to make additional laws. Then once they have those ruling in a particular state – the full faith and credit clause makes it applicable across the country.

Tomorrow we will conclude our discussion of ENDA, which a one of the three major movements underway in Congress which Congressman Forbes has identified as negative political drivers. We will also discuss what we average Americans can do to stop ENDA from becoming the law of the land.

I, Too, Hate Hate Crimes, However . . .

Hate Crime Laws: Criminalizing Free Speech

First and foremost “Hate Crimes Laws” and employment laws (specifically the so-called “anti-discriminatory” Employment Non-Discrimination Acts (ENDA) protect the immoral behavior of a certain moneyed minority of Americans. Existing laws protect homosexuals and other Americans equally and sufficiently. These laws are unnecessary and unwarranted. In essence these laws are meant to condone and to protect misbehavior. Why create special protection for a group of people who only want to justify and codify their immoral, unhealthy, unnatural behavior?

Why on God’s green earth should a homosexual or lesbian or transgendered or transvestite individual be granted MORE protection than any innocent child or any vulnerable, frail elderly widow? "Hate Crimes Laws" are pure injustice and pure nonsense. Reporting of crimes against members of the homosexual community are exaggerated for political and for political correctness reasons and to advance a radical leftist, socialist agenda here in America.

The ultimate purpose of the homosexual agenda, besides justifying and blessing or sanctioning evil behavior, is to silence the true Church, the true Christians who dare to proclaim God’s inherent Word, found in the Judeo-Christian Bible. After all the Bible teaches the truth that homosexuality, like adultery or fornication or theft or murder is wrong and violates God’s precepts.

Like the statistics feminists and abortionists used to “sell” abortion to the courts, homosexuals use misleading, false and deceitful statistics to support their cause. Homosexuals and the supportive leftist mainstream media have been known to conspire in fabricating and publicizing crimes as hate crimes (like the Matthew Shepard case after which the hate crimes law is even named)!

TAKE ACTION

I classify these hate crime and other pro-homosexual special protection laws like ENDA as being destructive to American values and principles as Amnesty for illegal aliens, or funding for Planned Parenthood, or Every Child Left Behind legislation.

Contact your U.S. congressional representatives and Senators and urge them to reject all so-called hate crimes, pro-homosexual special protection (ENDA) legislation.

RE: ENDA Must Not Pass!

I was deeply troubled to learn that the so-called Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) – legislation that provides homosexuals with special privileges and powers in the workplace – has been put on the fast track by Barney Frank and other radical leftists Democrats.

This bill – and the view of sexuality that underlies it – is contrary to the moral code to which Americans have always subscribed. In attacking the institution of marriage and the family, the homosexual/lesbian “rights” movement has declared war on society itself. But moreover, the real and dark purpose behind this draconian bill is not to stop non-existent "discrimination" against homosexuals in the workplace -- since you can not stop something that does not exist in the first place -- but rather to silence small business owners and Americans who practice deeply held religious beliefs.

Consider the following scenario. For years, Mom and Dad -- church-going Bible-believers -- have operated a candy store on the corner of Main and Reagan. After school and on Saturdays, the place is swarming with children and their parents. When they advertise for a clerk, the leader of the local "homosexual/lesbian rights" movement applies for the job, he tells Mom and Dad: "You're Christian bigots and if you don't hire me, I'll haul you into court." Mom and Dad have three choices:

(1) They can hire him, knowing that when they do, the children will stop coming around, and count the days until they lose their business.

(2) They can fight him in court, spend thousands of dollars in legal fees with no hope of winning. and count the days until they go out of business

(3) They can decide NOT to count the days and simply take the shingle down and go out of business the next day.

Decent, normal Americans are demanding that conservatives use every parliamentary maneuver available to stop this bill from passing. We won’t tolerate any pussyfooting, any attempt to appease the homosexual lobby by approving ANY pro-homosexuality legislation. Conservative legislators are already skating on thin ice. Don’t make the mistake of assuming you can let ENDA slip through Congress without the very deleterious consequences.

DISASTEROUS RESULTS

Here are some of the things ENDA, if passed, would bring about:

>>>Under ENDA, the FBI would be forced to investigate organizations like the Boy Scouts and haul them into federal court, where they would be fined and told to recruit homosexual Scoutmasters or disband
immediately;

>>>give the federal government new and unprecedented power in the workplace, particularly over small businesses. (The whole purpose of ENDA is to generate lawsuits against "homophobic" businesses and force them to accept homosexuality as a normal, natural, and healthy form of recreation);

>>> elevate sodomy to the level of marital relations, punish anyone who thinks otherwise, and protect men who dress up like women and people who undergo "sex change" operations;

>>> turn America into freak show, a sexual zoo teeming with nauseating behavior contrary to the tenets of Christianity, Judaism, and the other great religions of the world;

>>> prohibit employers from taking sexual conduct (and misconduct) into consideration when hiring or firing employees in charge of the young, -- e.g., teachers and child care workers;

>>>give homosexuals special rights and protections -- protections that are not based on race, color, creed or sex, but rather bestowed on individuals based on their behavior.

I have said it before our activist courts together with radical leftist leaders in the Democrat Party, academia and the main stream media have conducted an onerous and relentless campaign to make homosexuality generally acceptable. This is in spite of the fact that homosexuality is abnormal, unnatural, immoral and unhealthy. ENDA is just another tool used in the homosexual activists’ bag of tricks to bring the nation to ruin.

“Homosexual/Lesbian/Transgender/Transvestite Rights” or “A Woman’s Right to Kill Her Baby (Abortion)” or the so-called concept of “Separation of Church and State” and the derived “Right To Not Be Offended By Religious Symbols In The Public Square” are fabricated rights. They are definitely not grounded in the U.S. Constitution. They are antithetical to it. Therefore, here and now is where the line must be drawn in the sand. Enough is enough, no more apathetic acquiescence, no more appeasement to the radical leftists and their various and sundry harmful and anti-American causes.
