Late Night Takes – Trumpin’ in Nevada

The jokes that follow are courtesy of NewsMax.com which periodically sends out an email compilation of jokes from the various late night TV talk shows, few of them are worth repeating . . . these were the exceptions.
This batch of monologue jokes center around Donald Trump and last night's Nevada caucus. It is my opinion that if we elected this guy we would be gambling on the America's very future. It is not worth putting this nation in the hands of another egotistical narcissist. Just look has happened the last 7+ years when we did!
 Bombastic Bully Seeking Presidential Pulpit

Conan
· Today is the Republican caucus in Nevada, and Donald Trump is projected to win. When asked why they’re voting for him, Americans said, "We’re used to doing things in Nevada that we’ll regret tomorrow."
· Trump is actually doing very well in Nevada. That’s right, Trump appeals to Nevada’s key demographic — people who’ve declared bankruptcy.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!
· It was a big day for Donald Trump yesterday, the Nevada caucuses took place. Voting in the state of Nevada is a little different. In Nevada you pull the lever first and then you find out who you voted for. It is more exciting.
* Donald Trump was heavily favored to win. Not just by Donald Trump, by other people too.

The Experts Say New Casino Will Increase Risk in Cleveland

Here is an excerpt from an article I saw in a local newspaper about my hometown and the scourge, which is about to further plague that troubled and impoverished city.

Casino gambling with its glitz, new jobs and attraction for troubled gamblers is coming to Cleveland, one of America's poorest cities, and experts agree the convenience will increase the number chronic gamblers willing to lie, cheat or steal to get a poker fix.

The bottom line is that gambling will hurt rather than help the urban areas. Crime will increase. Families will be torn apart. Homelessness will mushroom. Nothing good will come from the casino, except maybe to line the pockets of owners and the politicians, who are in the pockets of the owners.

You can read more of this insightful article at: “Experts: Casino will add to risks in Cleveland.”

Ohioans, vote NO on Issues 1 & 2 on 5/4/10

ISSUE 1 – NO TO MORE DEBT

The following editorial was written by businessman David W. Johnson and can be found in its entirety at
www.AmericanRoundtable.com.

“There is a $500 Million ticking time bomb of debt that may well balloon by an additional $700 Million if the voters of Ohio are duped into approving Issue One on the May 4th Primary ballot. This ballot issue would extend the life of the Ohio Third Frontier program which has already spent almost $1 Billion supposedly transforming the “intellectual property” of Ohio’s universities into new high tech ventures at a multitude of corporations in Ohio and at some headquartered outside of Ohio.

“As noble a goal as this may be, Ohio can ill afford to continue to spend billions and billions of dollars that it doesn’t have. Though Issue One is billed as merely a “bond issuance”, and not a new tax - what is a state bond issuance if not a pledge of future tax revenue and perhaps future tax increases?

“With Ohio already facing a $7 Billion structural deficit…plus a projected $4 Billion unemployment loan to the federal government due in 2010…you would think that our elected officials would pull in the reigns and exercise fiduciary caution. But clearly this has not happened. Of course, it’s not their money. It is yours and mine…and future generations…that will be stuck with the tab long after the current politicos have retired and are enjoying their rich (unfunded pensions ...”

ISSUE 2 – NO TO GAMBLING & TO MISUSING THE CONSTITUTION

The following information is an excerpt of an editorial written by Dave Zanotti, President of American Roundtable and also found on
www.AmericanRoundable.com.

“It took casino consultants 22 years of defeats and over $100 million in wasted campaign spending to figure out that the way to win in Ohio was to cut the number of players at the ballot box. Casino gambling passed in Ohio because the amendment making it legal was placed on the 2009 off-election year ballot where voter turnout was fractional. Now the casino owners, with the willing help of the General Assembly, are placing a constitutional amendment on the May 2010 primary election ballot where turnout will be even smaller.

“The casino “big-dogs” got themselves in a jam in Central Ohio. The people there don’t want a casino. A handful of well-connected people there don’t want the casino near their business development either. So, Penn National agreed to move the casino to “the other side of town” and a much larger facility. Only problem is – the constitutional amendment Penn National wrote in 2009 prohibits the move. So in 2010, Penn National is using a primary election vote to erase their mess up and move their bigger casino into somebody else’s neighborhood.

“The casino industry, with the willing help of the General Assembly, has painted Ohio into a corner. The state constitution and the ballot box are now part of Penn National’s business plan. Even sadder, Penn has figured out that to expand their empire, all they have to do is place an amendment in a primary election where the majority of Ohio voters do not vote because they have no reason to vote …"

Ohio Voters: Vote No on 2009 Issues 1, 2, and 3

I concur with fellow blogger Matt's recent post of the Ohio Freedom Alliance's informative recommendations concerning the statewide ballot issues 1, 2 and 3.

Enough of increasing deficit spending (Issue #1), expanding big-government bureaucracy (Issue#2), and encouraging incorrigible immoral behavior and get-rich-schemes (Issue #3).

ISSUE ONE

Although I would love to see the military veterans of the Middle East Conflict ear receive honor and benefits, it should not be with funds that we do not have. Ohio is currently struggling to balance its bloated budget. Why in the world would we add to our financial woes?

We have already incurred far too much debt on all levels of government: federal, state and local. Why should the Ohio state government be excused from creating and living within a budget, like many other citizens must?
.
Voting a regrettable NO on Issue One.

ISSUE TWO
.
It is to the farmer's advantage to treat their animals well. After all, they are an investment. Just as some people treat their property well, and others neglect it, animals are considered to be property. I cannot get excited about the alleged maltreatment or less than optimal treatment of animals, when thousands upon thousands of Ohio babies are being painfully and ingloriously exterminated regularly. Even the United Methodist minister turned Governor advocates this American atrocity, this Holocaust.

If Ohio Gov. Strychnine addresses the willful slaughter of innocent human beings at the hands of the heinous abortionists, maybe then I would consider initiatives to improve the care of cows and chickens. We as a state and nation have our priorities screwed up.

Furthermore, why institutionalize such a relatively unimportant matter as the care of animals when we permit the wholesale annihilation of fellow human beings via abortion and even former Illinois State Senator Barry Soetoro a/k/a Barack Obama's strong support of infanticide?

The only thing that causes me to hesitate on this issue is the fact that animal rights organizations such as humane societies, environmental extremists and vegans all oppose this initiative.

This is a reserved NO vote.

ISSUE THREE

The most obvious - dah - negative vote of the three statewide issues is Issue Three - the expansion of gambling - permitting casinos in four major metropolitan markets. Through a constitutional initiative we are authorizing the institutionalization and the expansion of gambling in Ohio. Wasn't the Ohio Lottery supposed to save the schools? It hasn't, they have gotten worse and the funding need is still there. The voters in this state have repeatedly rejected the idea of casinos. However, the greed and guile of the gambling interests never give up. Dan Gilbert and the other gambling proponents care more about money than morality or what it does to their fellow man.

A resounding NO to issue three!

Gaming Bailouts

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) wants to overturn a law that bans casinos from getting bailout money.

“In other news, Congress just installed slot machines in the Capital so they could spend taxpayer money more wisely.”

Election 2008 Recommendations, Advice & Final Thoughts, Part 3 - The Issues

We continue the series of articles about tomorrow's election. We plan to look at the race for president, key congressional races, ballot issues, and some resources that might help with a voter's choices.

THE ISSUES

Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council (FRC) said on his weekly Washington Watch radio program that these issue- marriage, decriminalization of gambling, sanctity of human life – define the heart and soul of America. I wholeheartedly agree.

Arizona:

“Marriage is between a man and a woman.” - - - Arizona’s Proposition 102

California:

8 – Proposition 8 - Marriage Protection Amendment – YES
“If you believe what the Bible says about marriage you need to support proposition 8." --- Rick Warren, Pastor, Saddleback Church

According to such notable and respected Christian leaders as Don Wildmon of the American Family Association (AFA) and Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council (FRC), this one ballot issue is THE MOST IMPORTANT VOTE in the entire November 2008 election. It is more important, they both say, than the presidential election. Why? Tony Perkins said that Americans have made bad choices in the past in their selection of Presidential candidates, but as a nation, we survived. He feels that American cannot and will not survive the dissolution of marriage. I would definitely concur, and is why I voted None-of-the-Above for President.

K – Proposition K – Legalizing Prostitution (San Francisco only) – NO

Connecticut:

1 – Question 1 ––- YES

This initiative would trigger a constitutional convention to begin the process to amend the state’s constitution.

Gambling on the Ballot Again in Ohio

The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch newspaper runs a regular feature called the Hot Issue, where they ask their readers a question of interest and ask them to answer the question and comment on their answer. The following question was asked yesterday.

The Hot Issue: Should Ohio allow casinos?

My Response: Absolutely NOT! Gambling that Ohio voters will tire of voting no, one outside casino owner is playing his cards again. Issue 6 is nothing but bad news. It promises the world, but it will just open the door for Indian casinos to enter the state. If they do, then this casino between Columbus and Cincinnati will pay no taxes.

Gambling leads to all kinds of problems. The lottery was supposed to solve our educational funding problems. It did not. Gambling is a get rich quick scheme, benefiting only the owners, so just vote NO to casinos and gambling in Ohio.
.
Read today's Cleveland.com article, "Fight brews over Ohio's Issue 6 casino measure." Vote NO on Issue 6.

Gambling Bets Again on Ohio

Video Slot Machines Coming to Ohio?

An on-line Cleveland Plain Dealer article asks if the recently passed legislation in the Ohio Senate, “Is a bill allowing instant horse-racing machines at Ohio's tracks a back-door expansion of gambling or just a faster way to get a bet down on the ponies?” I think it is the former rather than the latter.

One thing you can say about the gambling industry, it is persistent. It never gives up; there is a lot of money to be made in Ohio apparently. What color is greed? The gambling trade offer a lot of pretenses of “saving the horse race industry” and “financing Ohio’s “under funded” schools”, but these too are lies. They want a piece of the action, plain and simple. They don’t care that gambling leads to addiction, causes personal bankruptcy, is a big factor in destroying families, is a magnet for crime and is a potential source for bribing government and law enforcement officials.

According to a Columbus Dispatch article this past Thursday, the citizens of Ohio had rejected slot machine proposals in 1990, 1996 and last November. Isn’t it bad enough that we have the state-sponsored lottery, bingo parlors and horse racing? We need more gambling in any form or fashion as we need higher gasoline prices. Let Ohio be a safe haven of sort for its citizens. Who cares that Ohio losses some cash by people leaving Ohio to gamble in surrounding states. Because everyone else is doing it does not make something right.

The front-page Columbus Dispatch article said that some supporting senators call SB 125 the “horse bill”. Those who support the bill say that it would help save the horse racing industry which contributes $700 million to Ohio’s economy. One opponent of the measure, Senator Ron Amstutz, R-Wooster, compared Senate Bill 125 to bottom feeding carp in the state’s economic development fund. I agree with Senator Amstutz. Let this predatory horse racing industry die if the market will not sustain its viability. The horse track, the horse racing industry has cost society more in terms of social woes, than it has ever contributed economically or otherwise.

From what I understand the “racing devices” are merely a repackaged form of slot machines. I like the quote i read made by Senate Keith Faber in the Cleveland Plain Dealer article, “"If it looks like a slot machine, rings like a slot machine, pays like a slot machine, it just may be a slot machine."

I will be urging my state representative to vote NO in the Ohio House on Sub SB 125!
