Jeff Foxworthy’s Wit and Wisdom: “If … then you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots…”

Hat tip goes to Jeff Foxworthy and to AmyElizabeth who posted his article on the GOPtheDailyDose.com website today. In Foxworthy’s list he illustrates in a very ironic and humorous way the shortcomings (insanity tendencies) of the liberal mind. He broaches the following areas:

·         Illegal immigration

·         Bypassing Parental Notification for a Child’s Abortion

·         Resistance to Voter Identification

·         Gun Control

·         Food Nazism

·         TSA and Profiling

·         Sexual Exploitation of Children

·         Government Spending

·         Government Encouraging Dependence

·         Welfare Culture

·         Bailouts

·         Opposing Self Defense

What Foxworthy exposes is the outright lunacy of liberalism as it has increasing got a stranglehold on society and its institutions. Political correctness is the clarion call of the Left. All of Foxworthy’s statements illustrate a particular aspect of political correctness.

PRICELESS!! A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots
By Jeff Foxworthy
If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If  you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might live in a  nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat —  you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by  idiots.
If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might  live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might  live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If the  government’s plan for getting people back to work is to provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation that was founded by  geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you pay  your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he  defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
What a country!

Palin’s Commencement Address to Alaska & America

Over the lunch hour I caught a few minutes of the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show. He played a few clips of Governor Palin’s Farewell Address in Alaska, which she made on Sunday. I was impressed with some of the sound bites. I listened to the entire speech and want to highlight a few of the more stunning and powerful remarks. She did the speech without the aid of a teleprompter, by the way.

Below is a two-part video of Governor Palin’s speech. Below each video are a few of my favorite quotes from the speech along with a few of my editorial comments.

Part 1

.
REBUKING THE MALIGNANT OPPOSITION MEDIA
.
Speaking to leftist reporters and bloggers who unmercifully belittled, berated her and her family and traditional American values she pleaded, [@ 4:15 of the video ] “You represent what could and should be a respected, honest profession that could and should be a cornerstone of our democracy. Democracy depends on you and that is why, that is why our troops are willing to die for you. So, how about in honor of the American soldier, YA QUIT MAKING THINGS UP?” This was an obvious, long overdue, rightful slap at the media’s malpractice, which so characterized the Leftist dominated opposition media (ABC, AP, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, MoveOn.org, Huffington Post, NY Times, etc.)

Part 2

BLASTING BIG BROTHER

Speaking to individuals and businesses tempted to take a government handout she warned, [@1:30 of the video] “Be wary of accepting government largesse. It doesn’t come free. Often accepting it takes away everything that is free. Melting into Washington’s powerful caretaking arms will so suck incentive to work hard and chart our own course right out of us. And that not only contribute to an unstable economy and dizzying national debt, but it does make us less free.”

ENCOURAGING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Governor Palin points out probably one of the most important things absent in the policies and agenda of the current administration, [ @2:49 of the video ] “At statehood we knew . . . that we are RESPONSIBLE for ourselves and our families and our future. And fifty years later, please let’s not start believing that government is the answer. It can’t make you HAPPY, HEALTHY, WEALTHY, or WISE. What can? It is the wisdom of the people and our families and our small businesses and industrious individuals. And it is God’s grace helping those who help themselves. And then this allows that very generous VOLUNTARY hand-up that we can known for, enthusiastically providing for those who need it.” Whether she runs again for political office or not she will be an effective voice for conservatives to the bane of Liberals across the nation. She'll tell it like it is and help put traction to the Tea Party Movement . . .
.
ENCOURAGING RESPONSIBLE USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Confronting obstructionist environmental extremists and extremism, she chided, [ @ 4:20 of the video ] “We must be prudent and persistent and press for the peoples’ right to RESPONSIBLY develop God-given resources for the maximum benefit of the people.”

MY OVERALL ASSESSMENT OF THE SPEECH

Overall, I find Sarah Palin to be Reaganesque and so refreshing in her positive upbeat approach to political challenges and issues that we face. What a stark contrast to the negative, crisis-oriented, fear-based, America-hating, enemy-appeasing that so characterizes the current occupier of the White House and our lame Congress and its Congressional 'leaders'.

Saudi Arabia & America are no friends of mine - - - God

America & Saudi Arabia, Best Friends, but God's Enemies?

I received the following comment from John Burgess in response to my article, “Shining God’s Light on the Koran – Personally Accountable, which I wrote last Sunday.” My response is extensive so I wanted to post it as an article and not merely as a comment.

Your Commentary on the Koranic Account seems a bit muddled.

While the US certainly did assist Saudi Arabia in the 1990-91 Gulf War, Saudi Arabia did not react or reject the US. A particular group of Saudis, including bin Laden, rejected it. The Saudi government, while sometimes annoyed with US policies, has also generally supported them.

Even in the 2003 war to remove Saddam Hussein, for instance, an action incredibly unpopular with and opposed by both the Saudi public and government, the government nevertheless provided material support for the US, up to and including permitting it to = use Saudi soil (in particular, King Khalid Air Base and the air strips near the city of Ar Ar) to launch part of its attacks.

The issue, I guess, is whether we consider the actions of any particular Saudi to represent 'Saudi Arabia'. I think you need to distinguish between individuals, groups, the general public, and the government.

On 'Honor Killings’:

The issue is not the honor of the individual, but that of the family, clan, or tribe. A girl engaging in extra-marital sex, including pre-marital sex, is seen as dishonoring her entire family. A boy doing the same thing is not engaged in dishonoring his own family: he's just doing what young men everywhere do. This isn't all that different from the way things were handled not all that long ago in the US, though there was a bit more shame attached to the male.

It was the girl who got tagged as 'slut'. The guy, well, he got bragging rights among his peers.

And if the girl got pregnant, she was shuffled off to relatives in a distant place, if not sent to Puerto Rico or Europe for an abortion. The shame fell on her and her family, not on the one who impregnated her.

Personal responsibility is indeed a critical matter, but seeking to avoid it is pretty much normal human behavior, too. Many of us accept responsibility for our own acts. Too many of us don't, whether they're politicians, the local police, our friends and neighbors.

John –Thanks for your comments . . .

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY

In the Law of Moses (Deuteronomy 24:16) it is the responsibility of those who govern to punish those who commit a crime, not to punish the parents, children or someone else. It is the responsibility of the electorate to hold those in office accountable for their actions. Be sure God, the Judge of all the earth, the Lord Jesus Christ will hold each individual accountable for their own actions (Ezekiel 16:4; John 5:22). If the government and society does not hold individuals responsible for their evil conduct, then God will hold that government and society accountable and will bring His judgment against the government or society.

HONOR KILLING

Honor killing is not a Biblical concept. That means that the God of the Bible does NOT call for it, nor condone it, nor approve of it. He does call for capital punishment for certain conduct. Every crime is against God, not just against another person.

In the case of an unmarried couple having a sexual relationship before marriage – if they are found out then the man must marry the woman and he has no right to divorce the woman, ever, for any cause (Deuteronomy 23:28, 29.) If a man has sex with a married woman then they are both to be put to death (Deuteronomy 22:22). This is not honor killing. It is putting away evil from a nation.

Suppose a nation decides adultery is not worthy of death and such conduct is not punished in a nation. Then the wrath of God, is built up against that nation and God will bring judgment against that nation. We have God’s promise for this (Leviticus 10:8 & 20).

Engaging in a sexual relationship outside of marriage is not what young men do everywhere. Honorable men do not conduct themselves in such a way. God say, “Be holy for I am holy (Leviticus 20:7). Men whose God is the Lord Jesus Christ will not take advantage of a woman even if she asks him to do so, because of his devotion to his God.A sexual relationship outside of marriage is a sin against the person’s own body (1 Corinthians 6:15-20). It destroys the soul of the individual involved and he has no understanding (Proverbs 6:32).

SAUDI ARABIA & AMERICA: GUILTY AS SIN

You wrote, “The issue, I guess, is whether we consider the actions of any particular Saudi to represent 'Saudi Arabia'. I think you need to distinguish between individuals, groups, the general public, and the government. ..” There is a basic principle that I find at work here. If one part of the body is sick the whole body is sick and suffers (2 Corinthians 12:26). The eye cannot say because the hand is sick, I am not sick. The lungs cannot say since the hand is sick, I am not sick.

When the children of Israel where to take Jericho, they were to kill everyone except Rahab and all who lodged in her house and all the animals and to take nothing as spoils, but the gold and silver was to go to the treasury of God (Joshua 6:17-19). Achan took for himself from Jericho a Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels. For this action of one man, Israel was not able to stand before their enemies because Israel had sinned against God. The whole nation was guilty before God due to the actions of one man. Israel had to stone Achan, his wife, children, cattle and burn everything he had in order for Israel to remove this sin from itself and for God to be present again with Israel.

Lest you think this is a special case, consider this. If one is found slain in the country and no one knows who did it, then the elders of the cities around the site are to measure the distance to the towns close by and the elders of the closest town or city is to offer a sacrifice of a heifer and wash their hands over the heifer and tell God that they have not shed this blood or observed it being done and ask God to be merciful to them and not lay innocent blood unto the people of Israel’s charge. Then the blood shall be forgiving them. In this way they put away the guilt of innocent blood from the nation. (Deuteronomy 21:1-9).

If this is not done the guilt of innocent will build up on the nation and God will destroy the nation. This happened to Israel and to Judah (2 Kings 21:16, 24:3-4).

Most of those who flew the planes into the buildings on 9/11 were Saudi Arabian and Osama Bin Laden is from there as well. This makes Saudi Arabia responsible for shedding innocent blood. For them to resolve this before God Saudi Arabia would have to find those who took part in the plot and execute them. The shedding of innocent blood pollutes the land with blood and defiles the land. The land cannot be cleansed except by the shedding of the blood of the one that shed it (Numbers 35:33).

Saudi Arabia is promoting the Islamic doctrine that calls for the killing of innocent people for the spread of Islam around the world.

Consider this about America, as well. Since the Supreme Court allowed abortion to take place 50,000,000 humans have been murdered in their mothers’ womb. The people who do this are not being executed. Therefore, the innocent blood of those babies is polluting the United States of America and the land is defiled with blood. How about murder? The murderers are not being put to death. America is worthy of the judgment of God and God is sending it to cause America to repent.

God is being good and merciful to Saudi Arabia, so they will repent (Romans 2:4) and believe Jesus is the Son of God and receive Him into their hearts and lives. Every human being must do this individually. No religion brings salvation to a person, only repentance and trust in Jesus Christ does so, for both American and Arab and for all people.

Lady Liberty Salutes . . .

You . . .

"A cartoon by Michael Ramirez at Investors.com

.
Memorial Day is a time to remember those brave patriots who fought for America in various wars throughout the centuries. Their sacrifices are yet appreciated by many in this nation. We have freedom because of them. Though many misuse their freedom and exploit it for their own selfish desires, let us follow in the footsteps of those who considered the principles and values on which America was founded and for which America has stood, worthy of their ultimate sacrifice. Let us live as if their sacrifices where not in vain. Thank you guys and gals . . .

Shining God’s Light on the Koran

Today, Sam returns to his on-going series which contrasts the Judeo-Christian Bible with the Koran on a variety of topics. He aims the beam of the Biblical laser on the Koran to expose, to reveal what it really says. See his previous articles here. - - - gregjaye

Personally Accountable

Both the Koran and the Holy Bible state that the person who committed a crime should be punished for the crime, and no one else. Personal responsibility is an important principle. It is often ignored in our present culture. Everyone seems to want to blame others or some thing, for their misdeeds, omissions or errors. Harry Truman had a saying on his desk, “the buck stops here.” It seems that America as a people and our politicians and representatives have lost this sense of responsibility or accountability.

I remember the night Katrina struck New Orleans. About 2:00 AM I was driving out of Oregon, Ohio in my truck listening to the Coast-to-Coast Radio Show. George Nory, the show’s host, said that a hurricane of Biblical proportions was bearing down on New Orleans. He asked those listeners who believed in God to pray for the city. Myself and others listening to that broadcast prayed for the city. Later I heard that the storm had dropped from a Category 5 to a Category 4 Hurricane and did not directly hit the city.

For five days the storm had been in the Gulf of Mexico and the federal government warned the state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans to take emergency action. The Governor and the Mayor were slow in taking any actions on behalf of the citizens. Then the Democrat politicians blamed the President and the federal government for not doing anything. Some said the storm was President Bush’s fault for rejecting the Kyoto Agreement. The hurricane did stop a homosexual celebration set to be held in New Orleans, perhaps one of the few good things to come out of the terrible tragedy.

THE KORANIC ACCOUNT

“If they disbelieve you, say: My deeds are mine and your deeds are yours. You are not accountable for my actions, nor am I accountable for what you do (1).”

“Your Lord will surely reward all men according to their deeds. He has knowledge of all their actions. Follow the straight path as you are bidden, together with those who have repented with you, and do not transgress. He is watching all your actions (2)?”

COMMENTARY ON THE KORAN ACCOUNT

When the god of Islam judges people after they are resurrected from the dead, they will be judged on their own actions and not on someone else’s actions. In the same way at the present time on earth, people are to be judged for their own conduct, and not someone else’s conduct.

During the Persian Gulf War, Saudi Arabia received military support in the way of troops and equipment to stop the expansion of Iraq under Sadom Hussein. Having non-Islamic military on Islamic soil angered Osama Bin Laden. He subsequently helped get 19 men to fly jets into buildings in an attack on the United States. America did good to Saudi Arabia and was rewarded with evil from that action.

Under Sharia Law there is a provision called honor-killing. If a couple has a sexual relationship before marriage, then a relative of the woman often kills the woman. I have never heard of anything happening to the man.

THE BIBICAL ACCOUNT

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the fathers, so also the soul of the son is mine! The soul that sinneth it shall die (3).”

“The soul that sinneth it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him (4).”

“The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers, Every man shall be put to death for his own sin (5).”

“And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his (Anaziah, King of Judah) hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father. But the children of the murders he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, the father shall not be put to death for the children nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin (6).”

COMMENTARY ON THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNT

God is saying, in the passages quoted above, that each individual will bear the punishment for their own actions and not someone else’s. This goes for the judgments at the end of time and for judgment at this time.

Those who oppose the right to bear arms in the United States will sue the manufacturer of the weapon used in a crime.

Laws have been enacted in some cities holding the parents responsible for the actions of their children and punishing the parents. Yet, laws are passed which prohibit parents from punishing their children to make them obey.

CONCLUSION

You will bear the punishment or reward for your own conduct. “Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reep. For he that soweth to his flesh shall reap CORRUPTION; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap LIFE EVERLASTING (7).”

HPV Vaccination Legislation

Several states have been considering legislation that would make a new vaccination (Gardasil) against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) mandatory for young girls. The HPV virus is spread by sexual contact and it causes cervical cancer. For now, the vaccine is not effective for boys. People are saying that the usual “safe sex” methods are not effective enough against the virus. There are three major concerns among people who are against the legislation.

THE VACCINATION MAY HAVE UNFORESEEN SIDE EFFECTS

The vaccination has gone through clinical trials (11,000 have received it), but the vaccine has only been around for a few years. There is no way of knowing for sure whether or not there will be any long term side effects (such an infertility or worse).

GIVING GIRLS THE VACCINE MAY CAUSE THEM TO BE MORE PROMISCUOUS—BUT WHAT ABOUT RAPE CASES?

Some have pointed out that a girl could contact the virus if she were raped. If the vaccination were known to be safe and effective, then this would be beneficial for them. But in order for the vaccination to work, it must be given before the sexual contact with the infected person. I am concerned about taking away from children reasons not to become sexually promiscuous. So what to do? My answer is this: Why can’t parents give their daughters the vaccination without telling them what it is or what it’s for? I am not saying that that is what they should do (they should consider the possibility of side effects of the treatment). Children receive vaccinations for all kinds of diseases and they are not always told what the disease is like and how it is spread, so why do you have to tell them in this case?

If someone contracts a disease as a result of rape, then the rapist should have to pay for (by forced labor if necessary) any resulting medical bills. (This is assuming that we allow the rapist to live, which is another question.)

IT IS AN INFRINGEMENT

It is an infringement to take medical decisions for children out of the hands of parents or to force or coerce them into giving their children a treatment that they don’t want or are unsure of. Parents should be allowed to do what they think is best for their children’s health. Medicating children is not the proper role of the government. In some states, the pending legislation will give parents the option of “opting out” of this “mandatory” vaccination. I still think that it is not right even to force parents to sign an affidavit to protect their children from something that they don’t want them to be exposed to. Circumcision may also help prevent cervical cancer. Should we force parents to sign an affidavit if they don’t have their boys circumcised? I guess that would be too much mixing religion and politics, since this is in the Bible.

In some states, the bill only applies to girls entering the 6th grade of a public school. I think that it is good that homeschoolers and parents who send their children to private schools don’t have to worry about this in these states. Maybe this intrusive legislation will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for some parents so that they take their kids out of public schools and as a result some will not be exposed to the filthy sexual suggestions that are given to them in health classes. The very existence of public schools is an intrusion, especially if parents who don’t even send their children to public schools (or who don’t want to) are forced to fund them.

I don’t think, however, that taxpayers should have to foot the bill for these treatments, educating people about them, or the expensive research needed to develop them. The government should not force a taxpayer to pay for the consequences of someone else’s sin.

Even some people who are against the legislation say that they are in favor of “educating people” about the vaccine. But I don’t believe that “educating people” is the proper role of the government. People should do their own research (talk with their pediatricians and get a second opinion) and the government should stop trying to persuade people to do things when there is nothing sinful about not doing them.

This is not about punishing people for promiscuity (though that is not a bad idea), but it is about personal responsibility, parental primacy, and religious liberty.

“If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statues, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Exodus 15:26
