Show Me the Father (2021)

There is a great movie playing locally at the Cinemark 14 in Mansfield, Ohio and around the nation right now.  I watched “Show Me the Father” at the Saturday afternoon matinee.  Sadly, I was one of only five people viewing this important, insightful, and inspiring documentary about fatherhood at this showing.  Many more people need to see this movie, especially our lawmakers, judges, civic, faith, and school leaders.  Fathers are critical to family leadership and childrearing.

“Show Me the Father” is comprised of a compelling combination of several renowned sports figures (such as former star Ohio State running back Eddie George), a church leader (Pastor Tony Evans), and a powerful personal gripping testimony of a leader of a famous Christian organization (Jim Daly of Focus on the Family) as well of movie-makers (the Kendrick brothers who made “Courageous”, “War Room,” etc.)  All the participants in this documentary shared key ideas about what it means to be a father, and what it takes to be a father.

There are several surprise and shocking revelations in this movie. 

The point of the movies comes down to the fact that even though our biological fathers may be absent physically or emotionally from our lives, we have a heavenly Father who still loves and leads us in Jesus.

This movie offers an antidote to the epidemic of fatherlessness that is present in America today.  If we apply the principles and ideas revealed in this movie we would be much better off within individual families, in the entire American society, and in the world.

I highly recommend this movie to everyone who is, or who will be, or who has/had a father.  This movie is geared more to young adults and adults.

What Democrats Want, Day 62, Countdown to Oblivion? LAW AND ORDER (Part 1)

As of today, there are 62 days until the most consequential election in American history. This is what they say about many past elections, but this is really it. For if the Democrats seize power – control of the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate and the Presidency – and doing it by hook or by crook (the justifies the means, you know) America as we know it will be forever changed. America envisioned and created by the Founding Fathers will disappear into the shadows of history. 

The ungodly secular-humanists/Marxists slow march through America’s institutions over the last 100 years or so will have reached a crescendo – fulfilling Mr. Obama’s fundamental transformation of America. Never again will the demonic Democratic Party relinquish its grip on political power and control of the masses.

Envision with me what a Socialist Democratic Party, takeover, a bloodless coup, a regime change, would look like. This is one in a series of daily articles leading up to the 2020 General Election scheduled for November 3, 2020.

What ever happened to law and order? Anyone examining the political and cultural landscape today, especially in the large metropolitan areas, would have to  agree that we are lacking law and order. Riots, looting, arson, vandalism, assaults and even murder exist essentially unchecked by local “authorities.” What is the solution to this lawlessness? Why does this lawlessness exist? What caused the lawlessness in the first place? 

Is America a Lawless Society?

The answer is “Yes.” We have the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to thank for much of the increased lawlessness. Why? The nation has become more and more pagan because instead of looking at our Founding Documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, we have conformed our “laws” to a changing and perverse culture. 

How did this happen? Through a string of wicked, unconstitutional rulings by  activist, agenda-driven judicial tyrants the fundamental transition of America has been “progressing”:

Ø  Prayer taken out of schools - Engel v. Vitale (1962)

Ø  Bible tossed out of the schools - Abington School District v. Schempp (1963)

Ø  Removing the 10 commandments out of the schools – Stone v. Graham (1980)

Ø  Making abortion “legal” -Roe v. Wade (1963) and Bolton v. Doe (1963)

Ø  Legalizing sodomy - Lawrence v. Texas (2003)

Ø  Legalizing same sex “marriage” - Obergefell v. Hodges (2015)

Ø  Protecting employees against discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity - Bostock v. Clayton County (2020)

In these rulings we have essentially tried to kicked God out of our schools and public square.  We have become barbaric when in 1973 abortion became legalized and continues relative unchecked and vehemently protected by the full force and might of the Democratic Party. We’ve also made gross sexual immoral behavior (LHBT) acceptable, protected and celebrated.

What is the Cause of Lawlessness?

As a nation have incrementally turned our collective backs on the Founder’s blueprint in establishing a new nation, separating from the tyrannical British Empire 250 years ago. 

Look at the words of the opening paragraph of our Declaration of Independence:

Ø  “When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

The writers refer to two different sets of laws, nature’s and God’s. Here the reference to nature is to God’s creation. There are certain systems, order and processes that can be observed with the eye and studied by scientists and others which serve as the basis of the various sciences and areas of study, which is naturally occurring. Then there is certain and inevitable systems, processes, order and laws on a spiritual plane, which were established by God. These are found in the Bible. The Founders clearly understood the two sets of laws. They used them as a basis for breaking away from the British and starting a new nation under God.

Freedom of Assembly, Gone Forever, part 2

In my recent post, Freedom of Assembly, Gone Forever?, I proved that, even in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, government stay-at-home orders are unconstitutional.  Again, I am not saying that people shouldn’t take precautions to protect themselves.  But these precautions should be your own choice. There is a great principle involved.

The Key to Keeping Freedom Alive

Is not more centralization actually what the current administration and Congress are undertaking? Our Founders warned us of this movement, this trend toward Socialism or Marxism. Central planning does not work for the average American. It may work for those elite who think that they know better than everyone else.

However, wherever Socialism, Communism or Marxism has been tried it has been an abject faiture. Look at Europe, we could be seeing America in the near future if the current government remains in power and acts as it has since January 2009 ...

Today of all days as we celebrate our independence, as we celebrate our cherished liberties, we need to consider the gradual usurping of our freedom by the government in the name of security or ease ...

Let us heed the warning of our Founders and work to restore the principles upon which this nation was birthed. These are the closing sentences of the 7-part HBO TV miniseries on the life of John Adams. The second President's words are very relevant for our times. We are the posterity to whom he was referring. I am afraid we have not made too good use of freedom. Freedom with no corresponding responsibility seems to be the mantra of our day.

The miniseries was based on the book by the same name written by David McCullough. It gives a peak into the live and times of the second President of the United States.

The miniseries goes into the relationship between John and his wife Abigail, as well as the relationship between Thomas Jefferson the Adams. You could say those relationship were woven through the series.

I don’t know how historically accurate McCullough’s book or this series was, but I think there is at least hints of truth in it. There were divisions between parties even as early as the 1780s. Big government was a concern. Having a strong military was a concern.

The movie gives a glimpse at the private life of Adams and his children. Two of his children died in early adulthood and the third also followed in his father’s footsteps becoming President of the United States. Adams lived long enough to see his son John Quincy Adams become president. His father was extremely proud.

There is a lot of good acting. Excellent costumes and set design. I think it captured the times very well.

RATING

**** ½ of *****. It should win an Emmy Award or two as it has been nominated. I would recommend this miniseries. It is quality entertainment with an education factor built into it. It is very worthwhile; it provides seven plus hours of excellent entertainment.

I paid just under $40 for the three DVD box. However, it has some nice features like on screen factoids about various points of interest related to President Adams or to some interesting item seen on screen. It is worth purchasing, or at least renting. It is worth seeing more than once.

The founders of this nation, like Patrick Henry, were overwhelmingly God-honoring, Bible-believing and Bible-practicing Christians. This nation, its Declaration of Independence and its Constitution reflected this unwavering belief in, trust in, recognition of and indebtedness to God and Jesus Christ. Her laws and government structure reflected it.

Sadly, America has drifted far from its moral and spiritual roots or foundation. For the last 1/3 of this nations existence forces within and without have been working to overturn the work of the founders. Evil forces continue to be at work to destroy our moral foundation, our moral underpinnings. You can see evidence of this in the fact that abortion-on-demand is “legal” and being practiced wantonly at rate of 3,000+ per day; our schools are essentially mills generating godless. Indoctrinatinating our children in moral relativism instead of teaching children moality, resulting in amoral kids having no sense of right and wrong; as well as the widespread acceptance of homosexual, lesbian, transvestite and “transgender” perversion which is gradually being legitimized and being granted the status of just another alternate acceptable lifestyle. These perversions are unnatural and immoral behaviors and they have been recognized as such from time in memoriam.

In fact, seen from the vantage point or perspective of past centuries, if America were a ship, she would be seen as listing badly to the port side (radicalized left).. Yes, the mighty ship is drifting into unknown waters and its destination is destruction of Titanic proportions. The mighty ship needs to be righted before it takes in any more water or is struck by an unseen iceberg. The water that the mighty ship is taking in are all of the stealth and corrupting changes in culture resulting from the judicial activism of the court and radical leftist “reformers” and historical ”revisionists” and activists taking America in a “new” and wrong direction. Unlike the vast majority of our present leaders, we need a captain and a crew, political leaders, who are passionate and principled, who will steer the ship on a sure and certain course.

Like the fabricated “Woman’s Right to Choose to Kill Her Baby”, or “removing” God and prayer out of our schools in the 1960s, or the blatant promotion of homosexuality at every turn in our culture, the nonsensical concept of “Separation of Church and State” is antithetical to the United States Constitution. In fact, all of these areas named above are outright violations of the principles upon which this nation was founded. The impeachable activist judiciary is seeking to also create new “rights”: even redefining marriage.

Severing God and Church FROM the State is neither a good idea nor is it A Good Choice . . .
