Help Update the Human Subjects Regulations

For years our government has treated human beings like guinea pigs, exposing them to unhealthy chemicals and radiation.  Now they are murdering the tiniest of human beings, human embryos.  Federal funding for scientific research is unconstitutional except for purposes of National Defense.  Make your voice heard!

This week, the Department of Health and Human Services published a notice announcing that the federal government is considering ways to enhance the regulations that deal with the protection of human research subjects.

Our President has a Passionately Pro-Death Position on Abortion

Hat tip goes to the TheLookingSpoon.com blog and their fine article, “Porky Pig Guides Obama on Abortion Stance, and for including the video below with that article. And the President has done nothing the past two years to disavow or disparage the fact that he is radically pro-death. 


In fact he has not only demonstrated that he is staunchly pro-abortion, but adamantly pro- embryonic stem cell research, pro- euthanasia and pro- death panels. 


He issued an executive order early on in his tenure to reverse the Mexico City Policy to allow the funding of abortion in foreign lands. 


His ObamaCare so-called Health Care 'Reform" bill wreaks with pro-death provisions. The man is an advocate and agent for advancing a pro-death culture in America. The 112th Congress should make it its highest priority to reverse this dangerous and harmful trend.

 

Pro-Death Advance: Embryo-Destroyed Stem Cell Lines Released

The Family Research Council (FRC) reported on its Washington Watch Weekly Radio Show the following bad news: “The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is releasing the first thirteen lines of cells under President (Barry Soetoro a/k/a Barack) Obama’s new policy (guidelines) to DESTROY LIFE in the name of Embryonic Stem Cell Research (ESCR). (Soetoro, alias) Obama’s decision puts the government in the business which is not only UNETHICAL, but also medically UNNECESSARY."

In light of the NIH announcement, FRC’s senior fellow Dr. David Prentice commented, “. . . "Those new guidelines . . . create an INCENTIVE to destroy more human embryos. Researchers still have to destroy embryos with private funds, but now researches can bring any cell line including from embryos destroyed in the future and get your and my taxpayer funds.”

How is the President doing being ‘My Brother’s Keeper’?

During his presidential campaign candidate Barack Hussein Obama, then even after becoming President, spoke several times of the need of being his brother’s keeper. How well has this champion of the downtrodden succeeded in fulfilling his mission?

THE LEAST OF THESE

On one of his first days in office, President (Barry Soetoro a/k/a) Barack Obama signed an Executive Order (EO) cancelling the Mexico City Policy, which had restricted funding of foreign abortions, reversing President Bush's EO. Then in another early Executive Order the President issued, he authorized the federal funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research. According to the advisors in the Obama Administration, embryos are not human: therefore, he is not harming his brother.

All abortion, according to President Obama, is good and unborn human look alikes are not human. So there is no harm done by abortions. Abortion survivors are to be allowed to die. Discarding unwanted substances for women is not Obama harming his brother.

IT’S ALL RELATIVE

President Obama’s father’s son is living on twelve dollars a year in Kenya. As far as I know President Obama has done nothing to help him. Those who would help him are kept away from him. At least President Obama hasn’t killed him as Cain killed Able.

Cain was the first to use the phrase “my brother’s keeper.” God said to Cain, “what have you done?” “Your brother’s blood cries to me from the ground.” To this Cain replied, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The question is then, ‘Is Obama his brother’s keeper?’

FUELING THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE

The President has increased the National Debt by two and a half trillion dollars in less than one year. This has lead to stock market declines, unemployment, and in the future, high inflation. But, the nation is not his brother.

FUNDING DOMESTIC TERRORISTS

Four billion dollars was budgeted for ACORN, a radical organization which is often found cheating in elections. Two billion dollars of the United States Treasury was also given to a Brazil oil company to drill for oil in the ocean. George Soros, the financier behind much of the Leftist movement, has an eight hundred million dollar investment in the company. It would appear that these are the brothers Obama is keeping.

CODDLING FOREIGN TERRORISTS

The term 'War on Terror' has been eliminated by the administration and detainees are being released with their housing paid for at government expense. American military in the field are given rules of engagement, which keep them from engaging the enemy.

CONCLUSION

It would appear that the brothers President Obama is keeping are his political supporters, financial supporters,and the terrorists.

Amidst all the glowing rhetoric of many including our teleprompted President, who yesterday eulogized the last of the famed Kennedy brothers, and amidst all the accolades, hoopla, pomp, and ceremony of the dragged out funeral festivities, much of the truth about the ‘Liberal Lion of the Senate’ remains buried by an adoring and complicit leftist press and media. Here is the other side or the rest of the story, a press release which I was forwarded from Pharmacists for Life International (PFLI):

SCANDAL AT MISSION CHURCH IN BOSTON

The Catholic Action League of Massachusetts today decried the scandal which occurred this morning at Boston's most historic Catholic shrine --- the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, known as "Mission Church" --- where a Mass of Christian Burial was used to “celebrate the life” of one of America's most notorious opponents of Catholic morality, the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Senator Kennedy fought for more than three decades to keep the killing of pre-born children legal and unrestricted in the United States.

Surgical abortion has claimed more than fifty-one (51) million human lives since 1973. The Catholic religion defines abortion as an “abominable crime”. [PFLI estimates conservatively that a total of 277 Million innocent preborns have died by means of chemical, surgical and mechanical abortions in that time in the US].

President Barack Obama delivered the eulogy, in which he alluded to Kennedy's support for gay rights. One of the Prayers of the Faithful was a petition to end divisions “between gays and straights”.

Ecclesial participants included Rev. Raymond Collins, Rector of the Basilica; Rev. Mark Hession, Kennedy’s parish priest from Our Lady of Victories Church in Centerville on Cape Cod; Rev. J. Donald Monan, Chancellor of Boston College; and Sean Cardinal O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston, who thanked President Obama for his words and his presence. Both the homilist, Fr. Hession, and Cardinal O'Malley suggested that the late senator had found eternal salvation.

The Catholic Action League called the event “a tragic example of the Church’s willingness to surrender to the culture, and serve Caesar rather than Christ”.

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle stated: “Senator Kennedy supported legal abortion, partial-birth abortion, the public funding of Medicaid abortions, embryonic stem cell research, birth control, federal family planning programs, and so-called emergency contraception. He defended Roe v. Wade, endorsed the proposed Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), and opposed both the Human Life Amendment and the Hyde Amendment. Kennedy maintained a 100% rating from both NARAL and Planned Parenthood. In 1993, he received the Kenneth Edelin Award from Planned Parenthood, and in 2000 received the Champions of Choice Award from NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts at the hands of the same Dr. Kenneth Edelin, the infamous abortionist.”

During his 1994 reelection campaign, Kennedy said ‘I wear as a badge of honor my opposition to the anti-choicers’. His successful obstruction of the nomination of Judge Robert Bork to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1987 effectively prevented the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Beyond his specific positions on human life issues, Senator Kennedy, along with the late Congressman Robert Drinan, provided the cover and the example for two generations of Catholic politicians to defect from Church teaching on the sanctity of innocent human life.”

“No rational person can reasonably be expected to take seriously Catholic opposition to abortion when a champion of the Culture of Death, who repeatedly betrayed the Faith of his baptism, is lauded and extolled by priests and prelates in a Marian basilica. This morning's spectacle is evidence of the corruption which pervades the Catholic Church in the United States. The right to life will never be recognized by secular society if it is not first vindicated and consistently upheld within the institutions of the Church itself.”

Comments to NIH on Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Today ended the public comment period for the draft federally funded National Institutes of Health (NIH) Human Stem Cell Guidelines. The following was my emailed comments to the government regarding this important topic.

Adult stem cells are non-controversial, ethical, and most importantly, and have been proven to be effective in treating patients.

We should not fund controversial research that destroys human life when we have other options that do not destroy human life. Embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) is ineffective, causes tumors and rejection. Nothing productive or helpful has resulted, to date, from ESCR.

Private organizations have not funded this useless research. Why should the taxpayers fund such research, when the economy is already is disarray? All the successes have come through Adult Stem Cell Research.

It is foolish, wasteful and immoral to permit any killing or cloning of humans for any purpose. Therefore I am opposed to your proposed guidelines involving any embryonic stem cell research.

The Cannibal-in-Chief: Barack Hussein Obama

To cannibalize one swallows up or devours another of the same kind (Webster’s New World College Dictionary). In the military we would take parts off a broken vehicle to keep another vehicle working. This was called cannibalism.

Barack Hussein Obama has written and signed an executive order to allow taxpayer funding for research and experimentation in which a complete human being is torn apart while still alive, thus murdered, and his or her living body parts placed within another human being. All of this is at Federal Government expense. This is cannibalism under the name of Embryonic Stem Cell Research (ESCR).

Katie Walker wrote the press release in which she quoted Judie Brown, president of the American Life League (ALL), who in her statement regarding this president’s despotic action, commented:

"It is a tragic day for America, for preborn children and for the entire pro-life community. A president who once claimed he wanted to reduce abortion has exposed his hypocrisy over and over again.

“For the first time in American history, the federal government will now encourage the cannibalization of human persons for science. Obama's bloodthirsty hunger for aborting preborn babies has reached a new low.

“This grisly biotechnological assault on preborn children will only end with a ban on in vitro fertilization – the root of a problem that today became more horrific than ever."

As citizens of the United States of America you and I are now cannibals and Barack Hussein Obama is Cannibal–In–Chief.

Executive order reflects a disdain for human life

In a ceremony at the White House Monday morning President Barry Soetoro (a/k/a Barack Obama) signed an executive order lifting a restriction on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. What the President did was essentially kill the ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research (ESCR).

President Bush had imposed the restrictions on August 9, 2001 – limiting federal funding of such research to 21 cell lines that already were in existence as of that date and thereby restricting the use of tax dollars for research requiring the destruction of additional embryos.

Deceptive and misleading rhetoric (so what else is new) marked President Soetoro's (Obama) remarks announcing his decision.

WRONG DECISION ETHICALLY

To all who believe that every human life has intrinsic moral value – Soetoro's (a/k/a Obama’s) ]decision was unethical. Scientifically it no longer is a question whether an embryo is a human life. Every characteristic that will mark a fully developed human life is embedded in the DNA of the embryo. The only question remaining is whether or not one assigns value to that life. And President Soetoro (a/k/a Obama) does not. Destroying one human life – uniquely and wondrously designed in the image of God – even in order to possibly help other human beings, is morally wrong.

Further – it is ethically wrong to force taxpayers who do honor the sanctity of the embryonic human life to help pay for research that they believe is immoral.

WRONG DECISION SCIENTIFICALLY

President Obama’s action was wrong on a scientific basis and on a fiscal basis.

Basically, there are two types of stem cell research: research that requires the destruction of human embryos or ESCR; and research utilizing adult stem cells and that therefore does not require the destruction of human life.

Scientists have been conducting research with both adult and embryonic stem cells for years. Only research with adult stem cells has yielded any successes in the treatment of human disease.

Such successes have been numerous. More that 70 diseases and conditions presently are being treated with adult stem cell therapy. Those diseases or conditions include diabetes, heart disease, cerebral palsy, renal failure, liver damage, and hepatitis. Most recently, a patient suffering from Parkinson’s disease was treated successfully with his own stem cells.

On the other hand, research with embryonic stem cells has been plagued with problems. Specifically, tests – which to date has been limited to animals due to the inherent risks – invariably have ended in failure due to immune rejection and rapid replication of cells leading to cancerous tumors.

The fact that tests utilizing embryonic stem cells often result in tumorous growths should come as no surprise -- even to the layman. At the embryonic stage, human life is characterized by rapid development into a fully formed human being. Embryonic stem cells divide and specialize rapidly in order to form all the cells, tissues and organs necessary for the human body to function. Taken out of that environment, embryonic stem cells still continue to replicate rapidly and thus form tumors. Most of the research in embryonic stem cells, ironically, has been aimed at getting those embryonic stem cells to act like adult stem cells!

Politicians bent on devaluing human life continue to tout embryonic stem cell research as the most promising research because of the ability of embryonic stem cells to differentiate into all cells of the body. But research has proven that adult stem calls have the same ability to change into every kind of cell, tissue and organ in the body.

DECISION IS WRONG FISCALLY

It therefore also is fiscally irresponsible to channel funds away from research that has a proven track record (adult stem cell research) of treating human disease into research that shows no hope for doing so (ESCR).

MEDIA'S SILENCE IS DEAFENING


The opposition (ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, PBS, NY Times, etc.) media's lack of interest in telling the whole truth about stem cells is so revealing of their on-going leftist bias. They fully support and conspire with the President and the Democratic Party elite in pushing a Pro-Death agenda on the people of America. Relentless in their advancing ESCR with little or no acknowledgement of the difference between ethical adult or umbilical sources of stem cells and that of the totally unethical and immoral use of embryonic stem cells.

CONCLUSION

Why would our president, the media and other liberals take such morally, scientifically and fiscally irresponsible action? We do not know what is in their hearts or minds. Political payoffs and the expansion of a pro-abortion Pro-Death are two possible motivations.

Pray for our president, and for our nation. Let your objections be known to the president and to the congress.

Top Ignored Story of '08

Stemming the ESCR Tide

I happened to pick up a local newspaper, the Mansfield (Ohio) News-Journal, yesterday and it carried an ed op titled, "Ignored story may turn out to be biggest of 2008," by Ohio Supreme Court Judge Paul E Pfeifer. He discusses the top 10 news stories which the Associated Press identified for 2008. He talks in his op ed about a few that didn’t make it, but should have.

One in particular may be the most important of all. It was mentioned in passing this past November. I will quote an extensive excerpt from Judge Pfeiffer’s piece. You can read the entire article here.

“. . . (T)here was one story — from the world of medical science — that didn’t even gain honorable mention (to the AP Top 10 news stories of 2008). . . .

“The story involved a woman named Claudia Castillo, a 30-year-old mother of two from Barcelona, Spain. Castillo’s windpipe was badly damaged by long-term tuberculosis. Her left lung had collapsed and she faced the possibility of having the lung removed, a dangerous option that would have severely restricted her quality of life.

“But then her doctors decided upon a different, pioneering approach to Claudia’s problem: they grew a new windpipe using stem cells. The entire procedure, which included doctors working in three different countries — Spain, Italy and England — was almost too fantastic to believe.

“First, the doctors got a windpipe from an organ donor. That windpipe was used as a kind of scaffold upon which the stem cells would be placed and where they would be manipulated to grow a new windpipe.

“Of course, stem cell research has been a hot-button political topic for years because much of it has involved the use of embryonic stem cell tissue, which is typically derived from aborted fetuses. But in this procedure, doctors used ADULT stem cells to grow the new windpipe.

“And here’s the best part: the stem cells weren’t just from any adult but from Claudia’s own body. The doctors in England took a sample of Claudia’s bone marrow from her hip, and after millions of cells had been produced, injected various chemicals to induce the cells to turn into highly specialized cells that would create the new windpipe grown on the scaffolding provided by the donated one.

“All of which is very good news, and not just because it avoids the ethical and moral implications that accompany embryonic stem cells. The truly great benefit here is that the new windpipe in Claudia’s throat contains her own DNA because it was constructed using her own stem cells. Thus, rejection by the body isn’t an issue as it is in typical organ transplants.

“By the time her story was published, in mid-November, Claudia was already home and, in her own words, “enjoying life and very happy that my illness has been cured.”

“While the early results are encouraging, the doctors and scientists involved cautioned that this is only a halting first step. But it’s a promising step, and some of the doctors voiced real optimism, saying that this technique might even be adapted to other organs. And another said that while it’s still years away, one day we may be able to produce organs in the laboratory using a patient’s own stem cells, without the need of donor organs to use as templates.

“So, as it stands, really significant advancement in growing new organs from stem cells that could cure many of our diseases is still well in the future, if it happens at all But if it does happen, this story — which was barely noticed amidst the political turmoil, economic upheaval and deadly natural disasters of 2008 — may end up being like the little ray of hope that flew out of the Pandora’s box of 2008 . . ."

What is disconcerting is the frenzied feeding of blatant misinformation regarding the need for embryonic stem cell research (EBSR) to the general public by the mainstream media, the political left, and greedy medical researchers on the hunt for federal funding. To date there have been zero, “0,” zilch, no successful treatments or cures for anything using embryonic stem cells (ESC). All successful treatments and/or cures have been through the use of ADULT stem cells. Yet, the mainstream media and their co-conspirators continue to lie and infer that it is “general” stem cells, when in reality it is specifically ADULT stem cells that work.

No private entity wants to fund useless, unproductive, needless research using embryonic stem cells, which requires the extinguishing of human life. What a foolish and wasteful policy. It almost seems that the secular humanist and leftists want to continue to cheapen and devalue human life and treat it as a commodity rather than sacred and precious. What the judge identified was just one of many successes using ADULT stem cells.

The only public funding that should be permitted or provided is that for ADULT stem cell research. Nothing should be provided for life-killing ESCR. The judge is right, this may and should turn out to be the biggest story of 2008.

Human Cloning, Politics & Faith

The following is my response to two Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch Newspaper editorials, both which were published on Friday, June 6, 2008. One was involved human cloning "Veto Justified" and the other dealt with politics and faith "Pray for Change."

To the Columbus Dispatch Editors:
.

So you approve of the Governor’s support of embryonic stem cell research including cloning of human beings? This is murder, the shedding of innocent blood, and you and the Governor are accessories to the act of murder. You should go out of business and the Governor resign from office and be defrocked as a “minister”. This is worse than anything the former Attorney General Marc Dann or the former Governor Bob Taft did while in office.

Where do you get that idea that the majority of the American people feel that embryonic stem cell research is morally defensible? You are frauds because you include adult stem cell research with embryonic stem cell research (ESCR). Even if the majority of Americans believe ESCR was moral, it does not make it so. God has promised that the land will cast out its inhabitants for such activity (Leviticus 18:20-30). The shedding of innocent blood pollutes the land. It will bring the wrath of God and the judgment of God against the state of Ohio.

John McCain is a profane individual who gives no honor to God. Likewise, the Columbus Dispatch editors are not much better. In concurring with his rejecting the two pastors that he renounced, you both renounced God Himself.

Barack Hussein Obama is even worse than McCain. He is a pseudo-Christian whose claim to Christianity is the fact that he attends church. You can also put a horse in a garage and call it an automobile. It still is a horse. Rev. Wright (Wrong) said, “God damn America” and Obama is just the man to do it. He can change whatever blessings from God we have into curses. Furthermore he wants to continue what President Carter started and President Bush continued in giving God’s land (Israel) to the heathen (Palestinians) supposedly in exchange for “peace”. This action curses America. Barack Obama wants to do this with the promotion of homosexuality, abortion, partial birth abortion, embryonic stem cell research, and denying people the right to profit from their labor. He has chosen death instead of life (The Bible, Deuteronomy 30:19) and intends to lead America deeper into a culture of death. What Obama promotes is self destruction.

Religion is in politics. All of our rights come from God, not from government. All power comes from God. A person’s politics is based on his personal theology. If his theology is bad his politics will also be bad. The existence and greatness of America is based on the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the Declaration of Independence from Great Brittan there is also a declaration of dependence on the Judge of the whole earth. That Judge is the Lord Jesus Christ. As we dishonor Him in our nation we forfeit our very right to exist as a nation.

People of the Potomac: Stop the McCain Express!

Help Derail the McCain "Just Talk Conservative" Express

Voters in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. have a chance to stop or at least slow down the McCain "Straight Talk" Express, which could be better described as "Just Talk Conservative" Express.

There are two other candidates in the running for the GOP nomination, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul. It would be great if McCain was denied the nomination based on insufficient delegates going into the GOP National Convention.

Personally the social issues of life and traditional marriage protection are most important to me and many other conservative and true Chrstian and other Values Voters.

The following two questions were taken from the Values Voter Guide for 2008 Presidntial Candidates, which as recently compiled and released by FRC Action. See for yourself where the major candidates stand on these to moral issues:

Promoting Stronger Marriages - Do you support a U.S. constitutional amendment to define and protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman?

Governor Huckabee is not the perfect candidate by far. But he may be good enough to stop McCain from coasting to the Republican nomination. Huckabee is right on these two critical social issues, life and marriage. These are two very important reasons to vote for Huckabee and against McCain.

If the nomination is deadlocked going into the GOP Convention, then there is a good chance a real conservative will be nominated ahead of any of the current or recent candidates. This candidate would chanpion a real conservative position and provide a real contrast to either Obama or Rodham-Clinton. Right now McCain and the two Democrats are two sides of the same worn liberal coin.

A Time to Stand-Up

Yesteday I wrote an article about cloning. After I wrote it I came across a website called NoHumanCloning.org and in my navigating through that site found the song, "STAND UP." I am not much of a music listener, except or some folk and some "stained glass" bluegrass music. I usually pack politically-oriented talk shows into my MP3 player when traveling by car or go for a walk/jog/bike ride. However this song was added to my MP3 player.

The lyrics of the song below reflects a strong message. What a powerful complement to the words I punched on my keyboard yesterday in regard to Ohio's Human Cloning Ban Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives just last week.

Funding Cannibalization

This week (beginning tomorrow – Tuesday, April 10th) the United States Senate will begin debating the Reid/Haskins bill, Senate Bill 5, or the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007 (S. 5), which would provide funding for research that will require the killing of human embryos. The U.S. House passed a similar version of this law. This same bill last year was vetoed by President Bush, who if you remember used his first and only veto to date. The brash Democrat leftist leadership desires to ram this legislation through thinking it may be able to overcome the Presidents veto this time around. Let’s hope not.

CANNIBALIZATION

The dictionary defines cannibalization as “to strip (old – or, in this case, brand new pre-born babies) equipment (or, in this case, human beings) of parts (or here, stem cells) for use in other units.” That is, in essence, what Embryonic Stem Cell Research entails, destroying (so-called salvaging) human beings for the express purpose of experimenting for some yet to be proven benefit for mankind. This dreaded Dr. Jekyll- Nazi Dr. Josef Mengala-like scientific experimentation is at the expense of exterminating fellow human beings.

LOOK WHO IS SPONSORING

Radical Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown along with fellow left wing liberal Senators. Ted Kennedy, Hillary Rodham ‘I Want to Be President and I Will Promise You Anything” Clinton, Barbara Boxer, John Kerry, Charles Schumer are cosponsors (really coconspirators or comrades-in-harm) of this bad bill.

LEGAL BUT WRONG

Not only is this a terrible waste of money, it is also immoral and unethical to kill fellow human beings just as abortion is. Abortion, even though it is legal, is not funded by the federal government. Likewise, liberals should not force U.S. taxpayers to fund research that requires the killing of embryos. Last July, President Bush vetoed the same bill and the House upheld the veto. This year, the battle will be even more intense, and the drive for S. 5 is strong.
