Sign Petition for Ohio to Secede from the United States of America

Allow for the peaceful withdrawal of Ohio from the United States of America such that it becomes its own free nation.

Ohio became the 17th state admitted to the Union in 1803 and it presently has a population and economy larger than that of Switzerland.

John F Kennedy once stated "those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable" and in that spirit it is just and proper that the opportunity for peaceful political change be given to the citizens of the states.

It would be a crime against the people of any state to hold them, against their will, in a Union that they desire to leave.

Ohio can stand on its own as a free and independent nation, separate from the United States of America, while remaining on friendly terms with the United States of America.

Ohio's right to leave the Union should be recognized and it should be allowed to peacefully withdraw from the USA.

Tell Kasich to Say "No" to Obamacare in Ohio

I got this from the Campaign for Liberty:

In 2010, Ohioans resoundingly rejected ObamaCare with the passage of a Constitutional Amendment nullifying the individual mandate.

And the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision prevents the federal government from forcing states to implement ObamaCare’s Medicaid expansion. SCOTUS found that the federal government cannot withhold existing Medicaid funding from any State that refused to expand the program.

Further, if a State simply refuses to accept federal mandates (and the associated “bribe” money) to implement ObamaCare health exchanges, then the entire law falls flat on its face.
That's good news, right?

You'd think this would be a no-brainer for an Ohio “conservative” like Governor John Kasich.

Our Republican elected officials have been very vocal in their opposition to ObamaCare.
And they have routinely claimed to be fiscally conservative, too. So it should be a done deal that ObamaCare will not be implemented in our state.
Then what is the problem?
This Friday, November 16, states are expected to submit their plans for an ObamaCare Exchange, and it now appears that Governor John Kasich is planning to unleash an exchange on Ohioans, and is considering expanding Medicaid as well.
Some estimates suggest the Medicaid expansion could cost Ohio $700 million in 2014-2015 alone, with 320,000 “newly eligible” people qualifying under ObamaCare.

While constitutional conservatives were focused on Tuesday’s election results, Governor Kasich was launching a plan to implement ObamaCare in Ohio.

Kasich believes that shoving ObamaCare down our throats is the only option in light of Obama's reelection.

The governor’s office recently indicated that Kasich is “leaning toward a federal exchange with the state retaining some authority….”

This is stunning news considering that it would pave the way for ObamaCare.
And the truth is, once Ohio expands Medicaid and implements an ObamaCare exchange, there will be no state authority.
Federal law stipulates that ObamaCare exchanges must be operated by the rules and regulations promulgated by the federal Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Succumbing to Obama’s dictates requires that our state relinquish state authority while being responsible for the added costs.

And you will foot that bill!

Call Governor Kasich at 614-466-3555 right away and remind him he works for you and not the health care lobby or the federal government!

Make it clear that you will be watching his actions and that you will hold him accountable should he implement his ObamaCare health exchange scheme or expand Medicaid.

We have come too far to give up now.
 
We must insist that Kasich refuse the implementation of ObamaCare in Ohio immediately!

It is his responsibility as Governor under the 10th Amendment to stand up to the over-reaching power of the federal government and protect the citizens of Ohio.

Tell Governor John Kasich we expect nothing less!

Stop Term Limit Violators

This is in response to Greg’s posts “Time for Tiberi Term Limit” and “Why Term Limit Congress!”. 

I personally oppose term limits because they disqualify candidates who may be perfectly able to serve their country.  There is no magic bullet for stopping tyranny.  There is no substitute for education, vigilance, and a virtuous, Christian majority.

However, Ohio’s voters went to the polls in 1992 and legally voted for a state constitutional amendment to impose term limits on its U.S. Representatives and Senators.  The Supreme Court, without constitutional basis, struck down this amendment.  But the law is still on the books for all to see:

“No person shall hold the office of United States Senator from Ohio for a period longer than two successive terms of six years. No person shall hold the office of United States Representative from Ohio for a period longer than four successive terms of two years. Terms shall be considered successive unless separated by a period of four or more years. Only terms beginning on or after January 1, 1993 shall be considered in determining an individual’s eligibility to hold office.”

Article V, Section 8, Constitution of Ohio

So, though I don’t personally agree with term limits, term limits for Ohio’s Representatives are just valid as any other law.  The Supreme Court’s decision was nothing less than pure tyranny.  Therefore, any honorable congressman will abide by these limits despite the opinion of the black-robed bandits.  And it is the duty of Ohio voters to refrain from voting for the term limit violators.  Otherwise, you are abetting a criminal.  Those who have violated the law (or will violate it if elected this year) are: 

Steve Chabot, Jean Schmidt, Mike Turner, John Boehner, Dennis Kucinich, Pat Tibieri, Marcy Kaptur, Steve LaTourette, and Tim Ryan.

None of these candidates are a “Good Choice” in this election!

22 other states besides Ohio also passed term limits on their representatives in Congress.  These are Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. If you live in one of these states, check your state constitution or state code to find out what the laws are, and don’t vote for any who are in violation of it!

Sheriff Mack Speaks in Ohio

Sheriff Richard Mack spoke this week in two locations in Ohio. I attended his presentation today in Delaware, Ohio. Sheriff Mack is one of the sheriffs who sued President Clinton over the implementation of the Brady Bill, which tried to implement stringent controls on the use of guns throughout the U.S. Wikipedia explains, "Mack received national attention in Mack v. United States (later restyled to Printz v. United States) in his tenure as a local sheriff for opposition to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act on the basis that it is unconstitutional due to congressional action to compel state officers to execute Federal law."

He spoke about the state sovereignty issue and the need for local officials and we the people to take back the freedoms we have lost through the years to the expansion of powers by the federal government. One major point he made was that Socialism and Freedom are incompatible. Mack says that there is a battle between the Constitutions of the U.S. and various states and such anti-constitutional things as: Political Correctness, Federal Programs, Federal Policies, Federal Regulations, and politicians who don't care about their oath of office. Mack emphasized that the oath government officials take at every level of government should mean something, but it in practice means little. This must change.

Sheriff Mack dedicated his presentation to Judge John Roll, who happened to be the district judge who ruled in Sheriff Mack's case originally and who was also the judge who was murdered in the Tucson massacre at which the Congresswoman Giffords was severely wounded. It was informative that no mention of the judge's stellar constitutional judicial stance was ever mentioned in his obituary or media coverage of his death. Mack also dedicated the meeting to his mother, who had passed away this week. He gamely when ahead and made his two presentations in Ohio saying his mother would have wanted him to do it. Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I pray Sheriff Mack and his family will be comforted by God and the positive remembrances of his mother.

The above videos demonstrates that Sheriff Mack is not the only sheriff who has stood up to the Federal Government.  This is a great example of how the Constitution is supposed to work.  It shows that no one has special authority outside what is delegated by the People.  Any law, policy, or judgment which violates the Constitution is null and void.  It is the duty of all the People to refuse to obey unlawful orders.  You might think that this idea would cause violence and the loss of the protections afforded by the government.  But as the above videos show, a cool-headed sheriff, acting according to the Constitution, actually diffused such a potential crisis.  



The 4th Amendment says,

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.

The 5th Amendment says,

No person shall be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous crime unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.

Ohio LiberTEA ParTEA 8/1/09 Columbus

The first all-Ohio TEA Party was held this afternoon at the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus. At the very least, the expected 10,000 patriots showed up. People swelled the Capitol grounds from the steps of the Capitol Building to Broad Street. They came from Cincinnati, Springfield, Mansfield, and many parts unknown. They came to hear some excellent speakers including featured speaker Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano. Judge Napolitano did not disappoint giving a rousing speech outlining his beliefs and giving a strong challenge to the assembled mass.

I joined a group of 50, who took an hour bus ride south to Columbus. We arrived to a sprinkle, then a heavier drizzle of rain. It soon subsided and the Party was on. Below are a few of the pictures that I hope capture some of the essence of what occurred this day . . .

By the size and enthusiasm of the crowd the TEA Party Movement continues to grow and to gain momentum. Hopefully our legislatures will hear the cry of the Tea Party patriots and stop the spending and stop the appropriation of taxes and the rights of We the People. We were encouraged to visit our representatives and Senators as they conduct their Town Hall meetings and visit their local district offices. They need to hear the great frustration, concern and anger of the people over the massive unchecked and unaccountable actions of the Congress and President the past few years.

Moving among the crowd were people distributing pink slips, which are part of the MoveOutCongress.com program to remove EVERY member of Congress up for re-election in 2010. That includes 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 36 Senators.

Interestingly no elected federal representative or their representative were asked to speak. They were just asked to listen to the people - for a change.
