What Democrats Want, Day 34, Countdown to Oblivion? ENERGY

THE U.S. economy runs on fossil fuel. There is an abundant supply. It is relatively economical. The Democratic Party believes that man is the primary cause of global warming/climate change (see the Day 43 post) using these God-given resources. The Republican favor the use of current energy resources and reject the idea that mans use of fossil fuels is the primary cause of change in climate.

 

Employment

Yesterday we talked about employment (see the Day 35 post). The energy sector generates many jobs. Oil fields, fracking, refining, transporting all are labor intensive. The Democrat in seeking to do away with all use of fossil fuels propose to convert those jobs into “Green” jobs. Manufacturing and maintaining wind turbines, solar panels and an infrastructure to integrate these alternatives into the current grid does not seem feasible or economical. I do not see being able to create enough “Green” jobs to offset the loss of jobs in the current energy sector. 

Cost of “Green” Energy

If they did succeed in converting the country over to alternative energy sources rolling blackouts and energy shortages would probably be a regular occurrence. Then there is the cost on creating an infrastructure to support “Green” energy. The taxpayers and not private industry will be footing much of the bill with massive subsidies. The nation is already in a deep whole when it come to our national debt (see the Day 45 post).  We are talking trillions of dollars if Harris-Biden and the rest of the communistic Democratic Party gains control of the government.

 

The Trump Energy Plan

For the first time in many years the United States is a net exporter of oil instead of being dependent on Arab oil. We are energy independent. Why mess with success?

The Trump Administration has allowed the Keystone XL pipeline to be built, but the project has run into legal problems. A Wikipedia entry regarding the legal case involving an environmentalist group states that on “July 6, 2020 In the US Army Corps of Engineers v. Northern Plains Resource Council case, the Supreme Court of the U.S. ordered all Keystone XL work be halted. The order, however, does not affect any other present or future pipeline construction in the United States, and will be in force until the circuit court, and then the Supreme Court deliver their final rulings. In response, TC Energy stated that the US part of the project will be reassessed (but not abandoned); the Canadian part will proceed as before.” The pipeline project creates one well-paying jobs.  The opposition to the pipeline maintains that the project will negatively impact climate change.  This is highly debatable.

In the same way environmental groups are also battling the fracking process. Fracking has been a real boom to the economy of Pennsylvania and other states. Earlier this year the Hill reported in “Court OKs Trump repeal of Obama public lands fracking rule” that “a federal judge upheld the Trump Administration’s decision to repeal an Obama-era rule that established standards for hydraulic fracking on federal land.”

 

Conclusion

The Democrats are all in for Climate Change and see a “Green” future. The more realistic Republicans see energy independence and support of our manufacturing industries and high priorities to sustain America’s position as a global economic leader.

Vote Democrat if you want the inconvenience that will accompany environmental extremism and climate alarmism policies if allowed to come to fruition. Vote Republican if you want to see a vibrant economy, job creation, cheap energy and lower taxes. 

What Democrats Want, Day 35, Countdown to Oblivion? EMPLOYMENT

As of today, there are 35 days until the most consequential election in American history. This is what they say about many past elections, but this is really it. GENESIS 2:5 reads, “The LORD God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it.” From the very beginning of time work has been a good thing.  The Bible also speaks about those who don’t work (who can), they don’t eat.  When job requirements for able bodied welfare recipients are linked to welfare payments the Democratic Party is all up in arms. We need to place hard work as an esteemed value rather than to ignore it or ridicule it.

 

Jobs

Jobs, for one reason or another, have been shipped overseas by many American companies.  We are dependent on Communist China and other foreign nations for many of our goods, which were once manufactured or made here. Our reliance on some pharmaceuticals, for example, manufactured in China has been exposed during this current COVID panicdemic. We need to end our reliance on China for manufacturing.

 

Republican & Jobs

President Trump and Republicans in Congress have during his presidency made some progress in bringing back some jobs and capital when he and Congress approved the lowering the tax rates for corporations and individuals. In the Fall 2020 The Eagle Newsletter (Vol. 22, Issue 4) the author states, “The U.S. needs to develop new jobs by expanding the successful policies of the past four years –

Ø  Lower taxes,

Ø  Fewer regulations

Ø  Favorable trade deals,

Ø  Small business support,

Ø  Made-in-America tax credits, and

Ø  Expanded opportunity zones.”

President Trump has made great strides with the economy and with increasing the number of jobs, especially for minorities prior to the COVID panicdemic. The combination of the COVID, coup attempts, and corruption and carnage in our cities from Portland to NYC have hampered America’s progress the last six months. But there is still hope for the future, but not by turning the reigns of government over to a communistic Democratic Party.

 

Democrats & Jobs

Government loans, direct money payments to families, forgiveness of student loans are some of the ways that government can support small businesses and individuals.

The Democrats also push for a $15 minimum wages, which will reduce the number of starting jobs because those businesses that rely on young people for entry level positions will replace them wherever possible with robots or machine. Even in fast food restaurants you begin to see self-serve kiosks were food is ordered, which reduce the needed counter help. The local food store where I shop had 20 checkout lanes recently, now more than half of them have been converted to self-serve check out.

Radical extremists like Representative Cortez (D-NY) wishfully maintain that a rise in “Green” jobs will occur in the future. She and others think that these jobs will replace those lost when the Democrats kill the fossil fuel industry.

In a Brietbart.com article, “Biden Goes Global: ‘Build Back Better’ Plan Modeled After United Nations Disaster Relief Program,” explains “Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda for combatting the coronavirus pandemic and its economic effects has its foundation in an international disaster relief program designed by the United Nations, a review of the origins of the framework and terminology reveal.” This economic plan for young people and blue color workers. The article adds, “By embracing “Build Back Better,” Biden and Democrats are laying out a vision for how to use the current crisis to not only reshape the United States in a progressive fashion, but also integrate it further into the global community.” We do not need to be integrated into the global community any more than we are, and we certainly don’t want our the United States becoming more progress or socialist.

 

Education & Jobs

Our public education system needs intense reformation. More options should be given such as school choice, vouchers and our future workforce needs should be matched with the interests and abilities of the students. Instead of seeking foreign students to fill key positions in medicine, science and technology, let’s design a system that will ensure future needs are met.

Let’s involve businesses and the various professions in curriculum development and reduce the influence and involvement of the monopolistic and politically oriented agenda-driven teacher unions in the development of education related matters.

 

Conclusion

Republican value a strong work ethic, entrepreneurism and want to incentivize it and support it. Democrats want to tax industry and want to regulate and control all aspects of it especially the elimination of needed energy sources like coal, gas, etc.; in favor of pie-in-the-sky “Green New Deal” fantasy.  The choice for voters is clear in November, to #WalkAway from the Democratic Party and all of its candidates up and down the ballot.

SPENDING like there’s no tomorrow, spending like a drunken sailor, using taxpayers as an ATM. That pretty much describes the Democratic Party. Mr. Trump asks for a trillion to deal with COVID (which is too much), but San Fran Nan Pelosi asks for 3 trillion. Never the twain shall meet. But the Republicans are not too far behind.

 

What a Waste!

President Reagan made this wise observation, “No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!” This fosters a lot of redundancy and waste. Smaller government is always better. It minimizes waste and maximizes accountability.

 

Budgeting 101

Omnibus bills are all the rage in Washington, D.C.  Not wanting to deal with tough budget decisions, Congress often waits to the last minute to avoid a government shutdown and then is forced to pass an appropriation bill that continues the status quo, it perpetuates the outrageous spending patterns of yesterday into the future.

 

Federal Fumbles

On his government website, U.S. Senator James Langford (R-OK) notes that “In order to address America’s outrageous $23+ trillion federal debt, we need a growing economy and responsible spending reductions in the federal budget. Senator Lankford’s Federal Fumbles: Ways the federal government dropped the ball report is a collection of specific examples of wasteful federal spending and negative regulations that impact the economy. Lankford believes he has an obligation to solve the troubles of our nation, not just complain, which is why for every problem identified there is a recommended solution. There is a way to eliminate wasteful, ineffective, or duplicative program spending; develop oversight methods to prevent future waste; and find ways to get us back on track.” In his annual report Senator identifies specific areas of wasteful government spending and offers a solution. One example from his most recent report, which are found on his website, is what he calls, “$11.6 Million for Zombies COST: $11.6 million.”

His report explains,  “In an effort to identify and prevent payments after death, the Social Security Administration (SSA) established a program under which states and US territories can voluntarily contract with SSA to provide the agency with death data to compare with its records. States electronically submit death reports to SSA, and SSA automatically posts the state death information and terminates payments to deceased beneficiaries. Unfortunately for taxpayers, Puerto Rico does not have such a system in place, which has led to millions of overpayments to dead people. The Puerto Rico Department of Health provided SSA’s watchdog, the Office of Inspector General (OIG), with the vital records data of approximately 568,000 Social Security number holders who died in Puerto Rico from January 1992 through December 2016. OIG matched the data against SSA payment records, and their findings were incredibly concerning. OIG found that SSA issued approximately $11.6 million in posthumous payments to 149 beneficiaries who died in Puerto Rico during that time period. OIG also identified 33,258 non-beneficiaries who were deceased according to vital records at the Puerto Rican Department of Health but whose death information was not in SSA’s system, which could potentially lead to further improper payments.”

More of our representatives need to take an interest in identifying waste in government expenditures.

 

Public Broadcasting

Speaking of egregious wasteful expenditures, expending limited resources to prop up national public radio (NPR) and public broadcast service (PBS) is mind-boggling.  These entities receive federal taxpayer dollars to present highly biased, Leftist-orientated programming. They along with the mainstream media function as public relation or marketing firms of the Democratic Party and all Leftist causes. The Party and not the People should be paying for these propaganda machines!

 

Some Solutions

 

Balanced Budget Amendment

A balanced budget amendment to the Constitution would require that expenditures should not exceed revenues. It is a proposal which has been introduced in Congress almost every two years, without success, that would limit the federal government's spending to no more than it generates in revenue from taxes in any fiscal year.

 

Zero-Based Budgeting

TheStreet.com’s website defines Zero-Based Budgeting as “a concept where the budget for the next budgeting cycle for an organization, often a calendar or fiscal year, starts from a zero base as opposed to an increase off the current spending levels. Under this process, the budget amount for a department or even a line item must be justified both in terms of the purpose of the budget and the amount to be included in the budget.” Some form of this kind of budgeting should be implemented throughout government.

 

Benefit-Cost Ratio/Analysis, or Just Say ‘No’

Members of Congress need to start saying no to unaffordable, unnecessary, and those expenditures where costs outweigh any benefit. They could use the benefit-cost ratio (BCR) and analysis which is an indicator showing the relationship between the relative costs and benefits of a proposed project, expressed in monetary or qualitative terms.

 

Conclusion

We finally have a businessman in the White House. He has dealt with the real world. Routine concepts like the need to operate at least on a breakeven (expenses not exceeding revenue) basis and the need to justify all expenditures are sound business principles that could and should be applied to the government enterprise as well.

The Democratic Party will maintain the status quo, which is spend, spend, and spend. The Republicans under President Trump if he can reign in the rogue Deep State undermining could implement some practices that will better control spending.

Vote Democrat for more waste and more resulting taxes. Vote Republican for less spending and less taxes.

Pentagon & Military The average U.S. taxpayer pays more to private military contractors than funds that directly support the troops.. Of every dollar taxpayers pay in income taxes, 24¢ goes to the military - but only 4.8¢ goes to our troops in the form of pay, housing allowances and other benefits (excluding healthcare).

Promises, Promises. Both Democrats and many Republicans make all kinds of promises in order to get elected. Once in power they seem to forget or ignore those promise.

Rare is the politician who make promises and keeps them. President Trump is one such politician. His campaign slogan, “Promises Made, Promise Kept” is more than a mere slogan. Several previous presidents made promises to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, none did. But President Trump did!

Wealth Distribution: The communistic Democratic Party contends that the rich do not pay their far share. The Democratic Party pits the rich against the poor. Rather than unifying the divergent groups they seek to divide and conquer.

The elite, like Dr. Fauci, long time bureaucrat, is looked upon as an expert, but the data says something different. The Deep State or the D.C. Swamp is embedded throughout government and has this elitist attitude. They often work at odds with the President’s wishes and directions.

Congress for the most part is a free spender. Their basic philosophy is to kick the can down the road to future generations. This is not prudent. This is not right. There are elements of the Republican Party who are fiscal conservatives who want to do something about our massive national deficit and debt but no one seems to listen or to care.

Healthcare:  The Democratic Party wants universal healthcare. They connived their way to get the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). This act would pave the way for Medicare-for-all or for Government-run healthcare. Kevorkian death panels and long wait times lurk in the background with any government-run healthcare programs.

The private sector coupled with competition is the best way to provide healthcare. Offering insurance options, including the ability to buy insurance across state lines is the way to go. The Republicans support a free market approach to healthcare provision.

Elitism:  That is the mindset of the Democrats we are above the law. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Chicago Mayor visiting the otherwise closed beauty parlors because they are above the law, while others are not permitted.

Is American Culture Progressing or Declining? (Continued)

Business (Commerce)

An excerpt from the September 2020 issue of the American Family Journal stated, “Marketplace culture in America did not always oppose Christianity. Today, Christian owners receive death threats, but when America was founded individuals were not shamed for publicly following Jesus.”

The above article quotes a Christian leader, “It’s a historical lie to think America was not formed to be Christian nation.  Embedded into our history is the fact that the nation was formed to honor God [and] Christ.”

The article continued, “However, since the founding of the nation, the American culture has changed. When culture drifted, it pulled the marketplace in the same direction. Eventually arriving at a culture where Christians receive death threats

Unfortunately, many of America’s largest corporations have succumbed to political correctness and now support the LHBT agenda, abortion, the Marxist-oriented Black Lives Matter organization. Chick-Fil-A was attacked for its support of true marriage and later compromised its position.

 

Government

Something I heard recently illustrates the drift from the Founders design that aimed at restricting the role of government to an ever-expanding role.  The first 12 Amendments outlined areas in which Congress shall not be involved, while the remaining amendments described areas where Congress shall be involved.

Government is too big. The debt it has accumulated is too big and is unsustainable. Government is bloated and has become unmanageable. It has appropriated powers that belong to the states like education.

Probably the worst offender is the Supreme Court which as appropriated legislative powers through elicit rulings, which no push back from Congress.

 

Media

#FakeNews is an apt description for today’s mainstream media. The operate as the public relations arm of the Democratic Party. There is no more true journalism or objective reporting in mainstream media – TV, cable, newspapers, magazines, etc.. Much of the reporting of the news is nearly all biased in favor of progressive ideology and the Democratic Party..

 

Art and Entertainment

The pornification of art and entertainment has taken place. Even Hallmark is now showing same sex couple in happy romance movies. Eleven-year-old girls are the subject of the movie Cuties which sexualizes them. Young boys perform as drag queens in bars with the approval of their parents. Disney, once producing family G-rated movies now insist on introduction lesbian and sodomites in their family movies.

Even sports have become politically active taking Leftist positions on such issues as the Marxist BLM movement.

 

Conclusion

The American culture is becoming more and more corrupt. Some of it is due to the deliberate incremental infiltration of Marxism which has slowly influenced nearly all areas and institutions in our culture.

The Democratic Party is clearly being influenced almost exclusively by its far-left socialistic base. The Democratic Party seeks power to control all aspects of the citizens lives from cradle (those who avoid abortion) to the grave (natural or premature via euthanasia or assisted suicide).

The Republican Party under President Trump believes in American Exceptionalism and seeks to make America great again, it wants the true history of America to be taught, it wants to restore a respect for life (the born and the unborn).

Voters have a clear choice this November. They can continue to vote for culture corruption (Democratic Party) or they can vote to restore the values, virtues and traditions that made America great in the first place. For me it is no brainer decision!

YOU must admit that our culture 2020 is not the same as it was in 1776. Some say that it has “evolved.” Others contend that it has devolved and continues to do so seemingly day by day. Obviously the 1828 is much more down to earth, literally. In 1828 the focus was on agriculture. Today the focus is on the characteristic or qualities that make up the primary components of a much more populous and complex society including: the church (religious), the family and marriage, education, business (commerce), government, media, art and entertainment. We have moved from a relatively simple culture where survival or life was the key pursuit, to now where liberty or freedom and the pursuit of personal happiness reign supreme.

 

Is American Culture Progressing or Declining?

 

The Church (Religious)

The American church for the most part is reflecting the culture and not preserving, improving or changing it for good. The church has not resisted the cultural Marxists march through America’s institutions, including its seminaries.

The people in the pews long for the church to lead, but real leaders, cultural warriors, are few and far between. The collection plate is more important than the collection of issues on the political plate. Those issues include baby killing (abortion), faux marriage (same sex), normalizing the gender dysphoric to name but a few. God certainly does not approve of those abominations. He has severely punished nations who embraced such deviancy in the past.

 

Family and Marriage

The core unit which determines the strength of any society or culture is the family. Because of this the government should foster and protect the integrity of the family. Under Democrat led government this not the case, to a lesser degree it also happens under a Republican led government.

Where was the push back when no-fault divorce was passed in California and accepted in other states?

The nuclear or natural family is the building block of any civilized society. The nuclear or natural family consists of a biological male father and a biological female mother and either biological or adopted children. Fatherlessness is a pervasive problem especially in the minority inner city communities. The cause of fatherlessness is President Johnson’s Great Society welfare programs which prohibited women from receiving welfare if the man was in the home. The breakup of the family contributed to up tick in gangs and crimes.

The public schools do not teach abstinence before marriage, instead teach sexual experimentation and sexually immoral anything goes indoctrination (called Comprehensive Sex Education – CSE)

 

Education

Test schools continue to decline in spite of inordinate amounts of money being thrown at public schools. Teacher Unions care more about advancing a progressive, political correctness agenda, which includes LHBT (Lesbian, Homosexual, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender) behaviors, than they do preparing students for civic and occupational life.  

Most college and university professors are Democrats and supportive of socialism, Marxism and even communism and are indoctrinating students daily.
