The Killing Fields in America, Part 6: A Call to Arms & Action in the Battle

In the five previous articles in this series we laid out the abortion problem, which I've labeled the "Killing Fields in America”. Well now that we know what the problem is, what are we going to do about it?

Step One: Prayer Boot Camp, Our First Assignment

We need an army. We need to make ourselves available for service in God’s Army. We need the backing of a mighty power. Let us ask Almighty God for wisdom and for power to win this battle. President Reagan was once asked what strategy he would use to defeat “the evil empire”. He simply stated “we win, they lose.” So how do we win? First and foremost, with God’s help. Prayer is the key. Let us continually join in what many others have been praying since 1973, that Roe v. Wade be declared null and void, that abortion be once again made illegal.

We need to be continually seeking God as to what we can do individually. This article and the next will offer some suggestions for action. However, each of us has to find out our unique assignment. In addition to continuously seeking God’s wisdom, direction we must also do something else. As
Henry T. Blackaby teaches we must find out where God is already working and join Him there.

Step Two: Find and Support Allies in the Battle

It behooves us to find out where God is working and moving in regard to abortion or in any matter spiritually in the world today. He seems to be blessing, for example, the work of pro-life groups such as
Missionaries to the Pre-Born or the Center for Bioethical Reform (CBR) both of which seem to be getting the message on abortion out on the street and over the internet.

God seems to have raised up organizations such as The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) the
American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), the Liberty Counsel, and the Thomas More Law Center, among others, to do head to head legal battle with the dreaded American Civil Liberties (yeah, right) Union (ACLU) and Americans United for Separation (more like elimination) of Church and State (AU).

Taking strong stands on pro-life issues, traditional marriage and families are organizations such as Dr. James Dobson’s
Focus on the Family and Family Research Center (FRC), Don Wildman’s American Family Association (AFA), Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, and the Concerned Women for America (CWA).

All of these organizations are worthy of our prayer, consideration for membership and/or involvement and/or our financial support. The radical liberal Left funds its abortion cause, unfortunately even being granted taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood Federaltion of America (PPFA) and the ACLU via award settlements, as well as heavy financial support provided by financiers such as radical liberal activist George Soros. Let us do our part through sacrificial prayer, individual participation and financial contributions.

Step Three: Arm Yourself with Knowledge

Become informed about the abortion. A good place to start would be in reading about the dangers of abortion and what can be done to eliminate abortions. Visit the various internets sites or write to the various organization mentioned above. In other words, educate yourself thoroughly on the issue. Become aware of the political area and all abortion related news stories. The links listed on A Good Choice blog are a good source as is the Agape News Headlines located there. Get in the habit of coming to our blog regularly, maybe more for the links and the news, than for our articles.

Ann Coulters book, Godless , is excellent demonstrating how pivotal and important abortion is in the “religion” of liberalism. It is a keystone. It is of fundamental importance to them.

There does seem to be a swing in the momentum away from a radical liberal culture of death to a culture of life in this country. In 2003 the partial birth abortion ban was passed, but was snatched into the courts by pro-death organizations and attorneys.

On the next and perhaps the last post in this series we will provide some additional steps of action in the battle to stop the rampant killing fields in America.

A Canary in a Cage. Part 3 of 3

In part 1 we discussed the difference between two forms of Christianity. One type of “Christianity” is best described as a socialistic, Marxist or liberation theological approach to “Christianity”, which promotes a “social gospel” and holds up social and economic justice as preeminent. True Christianity, the other form, is best described as having a deep personal relationship with God through a personal salvation experience with Jesus Christ as being preeminent in one’s live. Out of this personal experience comes the motivation, the grace and the power to help the poor and disadvantaged with both physical and spiritual assistance.

In part 2 we outlined Congressman Sherrod Brown’s voting record to determine if my description of him as being “anti-God” were justifiable and valid. My initial conclusion indicated that anyone favoring a culture of death over a culture of life was not on the same wavelength as Almighty God. In part 3 of this series we have some additional final thoughts to share about Mr. Brown, God and the election this November.

CONCLUSION

You have heard the term, RINO, referring to politicians who by their actions and voting record are Republicans in name only. Olympia Snow and Arlen Specter are two such politicians. My fellow AGC blogger here, Sam, was considered to be a DINO (a Democrat in name only) because he was rejected and not supported by the Democratic Party for his strong conservative stands on the issues.

Well, Congressman Brown is a radical liberal Democrat, his voting record speaks loud and clear that he appears to me to be a CINO (a Christian in name only). I assert this based on Matthew 7:19-21:

“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire; you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father, who is in heaven will enter.”

For your information, the bible records the fact that the devil also “believes” in God and by implication, Jesus Christ. God favors a “culture of life”, after all He is the Creator of all of life, isn’t he? Brown, by his voting record, does advocate a “culture of death”, where man is elevated to the position of a god and thereby makes life and death decisions himself (herself).. By his intense support for the present educational system and the NEA I would expect him to support the theory of evolution over intelligent design or Creationism.

People of Ohio, you can make A Good Choice by rejecting this radical liberal and the radical un-American ideas that he supports and vote for the lesser of two “evils”, Mike DeWine for United States Senator this fall.

The end and, God willing, a new beginning

A Canary in a Cage, Part 2 of 3

In Part 1 we differentiated between the two forms of “Christianity”. One form advocates striving to eliminate social and economic injustices in the world. This form practices a “social gospel”. The other form of “Christianity” advocates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ first and foremost. Concern for the poor naturally flows out of a personal relationship with God. This form practices the true Gospel.

We said that we would examine Brown’s voting record to determine if he and/or his agenda are actually anti-God.

BROWN’S RHETORIC VERSUS HIS RECORD

· What he says in his PD article: “. . . for many of us, MORAL VALUES are grounded in our RELIGIOUS FAITH . . .” What he does: Voted NO on banning partial-birth abortions as well as for any law that would limit or restrict any type of abortion including cloning and embryonic stem cell research; Opposed requiring or allowing school prayer; Voted NO on the constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage.

WWJD. What would Jesus Do? Would the biblical, historical Jesus advocate and support any abortion, any marriage relationship other than one-man, one-woman as divinely established, or would He support the removal of God and prayer out of our schools? No, no and no.

· He goes on to say in the PD article: “My Lutheran upbringing instructs me, and my fellow Christians, in the teachings of Jesus to read and follow as best we can the words of the Beatitudes, to try to live our lives and practice our politics as Jesus would have wanted us to.” His voting record indicates that he: voted NO on reducing Marriage Tax by $399 Billion over 10 years [the bill would reduce taxes for married people by $399.2 billion over 10 years by doubling the couples' deduction and the child tax credit. Among other provisions, the bill would allow married couples filing jointly to claim a standard deduction equal to the deduction they would receive filing singly].; voted NO on promoting work and marriage among TANF recipients; and voted NO on ending preferential treatment by race in college admissions.

It is impossible, without God’s grace, to keep the BEATITUDES as much as it to keep every law of God. We can never “earn” our way to heaven. We are not “saved” by our good works. True Christianity recognizes that salvation is a free gift.

Actually love at times must be “tough”. Tough love requires us to demand and expect RESPONSIBILITY and ACCOUNTABILITY for our behavior and actions. This applies to those we try to help. What Brown and many other radical liberals are guilty of is enabling or fostering a deep dependence on the government or the “welfare” state. People become so dependent on the state to provide for their every need they forget that they have any responsibility.

Why would Brown be against a work requirement as part of a welfare program? Why is Brown against doing away with preferential treatment based on race? Should we, instead, not be trying to encourage all people to obtain positions and achieve on their own merits and base college entrance or hiring on the best qualified?

· He further states in his Plain Dealer article: “. . . our fight for seniors who are forced to choose between medicine and food. . .” His record shows that he voted NO on banning physician-assisted suicide.

How can you purport to be “for seniors” on one hand and on the other be an advocate for hurrying their demise - euthanasia,?

THE LEFT TODAY IS NOT RIGHT

Brown, as part of the radical liberal left in America today favors, on many issues: death over life, sinful versus virtuous practices; taxpayer financed handouts without any attached responsibility over rewarding hard work; and secular-humanistic religion and atheism philosophy over Judeo-Christian principles. Ohio has a choice this November, make A Good Choice.

A Canary in a Cage, Part 1 of 3

The following is my response to a fellow-poster’s criticism of me on the Ohio Politics Open Forum, see post #2454. An allegation was made that I was incorrect in accusing Congressman Sherrod Brown o being anti-God, among other things. Sherrod Brown is the very liberal Democratic candidate, who is running against moderate Republican and incumbent, Mike DeWine for an Ohio U.S. Senate seat. The following is basically what I wrote in response to the poster’s charge.

Frankly, I am getting annoyed by your unabashed defense of Congressman Brown (who is himself a) Kucinch-Kennedy-Pelosi-Schumerite extreme liberal, who along with the ACLU and their ilk want only to destroy America as we know it hoping to make it into some kind of socialist utopia.

. . . I am not a liar . . . I see no need to apologize for stating the truth.

I carefully read the article you linked in your post. In his Cleveland Plain Dealer article entitled: “Faith, Holy Writ, and Social Justice”, Congressman Brown uses the term “faith” 7 times and he uses the term “moral values” 6 times. The one key phrase that he uses, however, both in the title of the article, “Faith, Holy Writ and Social Justice and also found twice in article itself, reveals his core belief: the term “social and economic justice.”

My conclusion is that Brown is espousing a form of socialism or liberal Marxist theology or liberation theology [Wikipedia says that “Liberation theology focuses on Jesus Christ as not only Savior but also as Liberator of the oppressed. Emphasis is placed on those parts of the Bible where Jesus' mission is described in terms of liberation and as a bringer of justice”.] This philosophy is rampant in many mainline denominations today. See my archived June 10th article on this blog. I do agree in part with Wikipedia’s definition, however, there is not much emphasis on the “Savior” part – the concept or principle that Jesus said about Himself “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Me." Therefore, liberation theology advocates more for a “social” gospel and not the true gospel, which outlines the steps to salvation. Putting it bluntly, liberation theology or liberal Marxist theology is a failed lifeless belief system when contrasted with vital, true biblical Christianity.

Brown’s Christianity, indeed, is not my brand of Christianity. Furthermore I wonder if we serve the same God.

Brown, if he himself is not anti-God, then surely his voting record portrays a different fact or maybe it reveals a different “god” whom he acknowledges and serves. Let’s compare some of Brown’s verbose rhetoric, which espouses faith and belief in God, with the reality o his voting record. The two seem to be incompatible to me. That is, real faith in the true God and the real Jesus Christ and is in stark opposition to the way Brown voted on several key issues.

To be continued.

Solace in the Soledad Cross Victory

Yesterday President Bush signed a law transfering ownership and responsibility for the controversial Korean War Memorial, which is the home of the Soledad Cross, from the San Diego City government to the Federal government.

This blog posted an article in early July about this affront to religious freedom and encouraged action by providing a link to petition the President's intervention. Maybe the President and Congress heard us. We need to do much more of this type of political action. The forces for right and morality must be heard. The liberal left has had the floor much too long. We must take the initiative and get the momentum and gain the ultimate victory. America can and will be restored.

We would be making A Good Choice if all of us were to do something to move America in the right direction - back to the future - moving to the future standing on traditional American values and principles, which were provided us by our Founding Fathers at the conception of this nation.

The Killing Fields in America, Part 5: Dr. Jekyll-like Experimentation

One day this past July the Columbus Dispatch newspaper asked its on-line readers this Hot Issue question: "Do you support using federal funds to pay for embryonic stem-cell research?" 69% of 161 responses indicated “yes”. My answer was: “Absolutely not. Killing one life for whatever reason is never justified. We are playing God when we begin to tinker with human life. Adult Stem Cells have yielded positive results so far and should be used in any research. To experiment with human life brings back memories of Nazi experimentations in the 30s and 40s. To me the cry for embryonic stem cells is just another step in advancing the “culture of death” which (tries to) justify the extermination of innocent babies.”

Michael Reagan recently wrote:

"It keeps popping up like weeds in your garden. Just when you think you've weeded out all their myths and falsehoods, the advocates of embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) are back pounding on your door and demanding your tax dollars to fund this latest example of junk science masquerading as the real thing . . .

“The ESCR community based most of their inflated claims on the work of South Korean scientist Huang Woo-suk, who claimed to have
created the world's first cloned human embryos and extracted stem cells from them, raising hopes of cures for diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Dr. Huang was widely acclaimed as a world-class stem cell pioneer and treated as a hero until investigations disclosed that he had fabricated key data in two papers published in the U.S. journal, Science. He has now admitted the fraud and has been indicted along with five of his associates.”

Although there is almost no evidence of success at any level in embryonic stem cell research to date, the cry from researchers or social activists is the unrealistic promise or hope of potential future cures for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, MS etc. The more proven research track using adult stem cells and using umbilical cords to harvest stem cells is a much more proven process. This in itself should be sufficient evidence to prefer the one over the other. But it is not. There must be an agenda in play here that seeks to further the “culture of death” so very prevalent today in the American society.

Much is made of some 400,000 embryos stored away in in vitro-fertilization clinics. Every embryo is a human life. It is my understanding that harvesting embryonic stems cells would destroy the life. Those embryos can be used by unfertile couples. That is the only legitimate use. Perhaps, to avoid this problem we should not permit the creation of any more embryos outside the natural process. Persons wanting children could adopt children who could be saved from the abortion procedure.

To kill an embryo for any purpose is unethical, immoral and flat out murder. It is wrong. This reason transcends even the fact that ESCR itself requires a leap of “faith”. It is my contention that no ESCR private or government should be permitted anywhere, or at least not in the United States.

Cloning is very similar, you are again playing God and manipulating and possibly destroying life itself. This is Dr. Jekyll land. Messing with life itself is beyond man’s purview.

The next and final article in this series will focus on what we can do to bring and end to the senseless Killing Fields in America.

Geo.-Politics, or the Battle of the Not-So-Gorgeous Georges

George

vs.

George

With widespread polarization across the political scene in America today I thought I would try to capture its essence by describing it as a battle between two Georges.

THE CONTENDERS

George “I can’t do anything right for the Left” Bush

V E R S U S

George “I’m the site for” Soros-losers

EXTREMELY LEFT

Wikipedia describes George Soros as “is a financial speculator, stock investor, liberal political activist and philanthropist.” He could also be described as anti-American who is pushing an extremist liberal agenda on America. Wikipedia also describes his adversarial relationship with President Bush as:

“In an interview with The Washington Post on November 11, 2003, Soros said that removing George W. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death."”

Reverend Louis Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition commented on Mr. Soros and homosexual activist Tim Gill recently saying:

“. . . who are pouring millions into creating front organizations to influence the 2006 and 2008 elections. Billionaire atheist/socialist George
Soros
and millionaire homosexual militant Tim Gill are working together to create a network of 527 nonprofit groups to influence public opinion, undermine traditional values and to place hard-core liberals into positions of power within our government. . .”

SLIGHTLY RIGHT

President Bush is human after all. He is no Ronald Reagan, but more like Bush 1. He is not much of a strong conservative after all. He has not turned out to be the across-the-board conservative that I voted for in 2000 and in 2004. Despite his many flaws, he is still 100% better than any Gore or Kerry adminstration would have proved to be. He has remained somewhat conservative on important social issues, however he has not been as agreesive to pursue them as I had hoped. His North American Union idea is very bad. He could also do more to intensify the destruction of the terrorists by unleashing full might of the military rather than trying to seeminingly appease his unappeasable critics.

TAKE ACTION

We should continue to pray for our President that he would come up with a strategy to annilate the enemy in Iraq as well as wisdom in dealing with China, Russia, Iran, Syria, North Korea and our other enemies. We should also pray that with the time he has remaining that he not cave into the liberal left regarding judicial appointments and other social concerns such as advocating traditional marriage, enforcing the ban on partial birth abortion when it is released from current litigation. In November vote for candidates who will be everything President Bush didn't deliver.

It would be wise for all true faith-based Christians and others, who believe in traditional American values, to be very wary of these two radicals (Soros and Gill) as well as their numerous radical organizations all bent on undermining our government and the American way of life. Actually it would be A Good Choice to become very aware of Soros/Gill's actions, their organizations and what politicians they support.

Israel, "Just the Facts, Mam"

I happened to catch the Laura Ingram radio show today driving my truck out of Cleveland. Tammy Bruce was substituting for Laura. She was one of the better talk show host(ess)'s that I have listened to. She provided her audience with a great list of facts about Israel. Here is the list she quoted, which she had placed on her website:

ISRAEL AND JERUSALEM FACTS

Courtesy of my [Tammy Bruce] friend Janet Levy.

1. ISRAEL BECAME A STATE IN 1312 B.C., TWO MILLENNIA BEFORE ISLAM;

2. ARAB REFUGEES FROM ISRAEL BEGAN CALLING THEMSELVES "PALESTINIANS" IN 1967, TWO DECADES AFTER (MODERN) ISRAELI STATEHOOD;

3. AFTER CONQUERING THE LAND IN 1272 B.C., JEWS RULED IT FOR A THOUSAND YEARS AND MAINTAINED A CONTINUOUS PRESENCE THERE FOR 3,300 YEARS;

4. THE ONLY ARAB RULE FOLLOWING CONQUEST IN 633 A.D. LASTED JUST 22 YEARS;

5. FOR OVER 3,300 YEARS, JERUSALEM WAS THE JEWISH CAPITAL. IT WAS NEVER THE CAPITAL OF ANY ARAB OR MUSLIM ENTITY. EVEN UNDER JORDANIAN RULE, (EAST) JERUSALEM WAS NOT MADE THE CAPITAL, AND NO ARAB LEADER CAME TO VISIT IT;

6. JERUSALEM IS MENTIONED OVER 700 TIMES IN THE BIBLE, BUT NOT ONCE IS IT MENTIONED IN THE QUR'AN;

7. KING DAVID FOUNDED JERUSALEM; MOHAMMED NEVER SET FOOT IN IT;

8. JEWS PRAY FACING JERUSALEM; MUSLIMS FACE MECCA. IF THEY ARE BETWEEN THE TWO CITIES, MUSLIMS PRAY FACING MECCA, WITH THEIR BACKS TO JERUSALEM;

9. IN 1948, ARAB LEADERS URGED THEIR PEOPLE TO LEAVE, PROMISING TO CLEANSE THE LAND OF JEWISH PRESENCE. 68% OF THEM FLED WITHOUT EVER SETTING EYES ON AN ISRAELI SOLDIER;

10. VIRTUALLY THE ENTIRE JEWISH POPULATION OF MUSLIM COUNTRIES HAD TO FLEE AS THE RESULT OF VIOLENCE AND POGROMS;

11. SOME 630,000 ARABS LEFT ISRAEL IN 1948, WHILE CLOSE TO A MILLION JEWS WERE FORCED TO LEAVE THE MUSLIM COUNTRIES;

12. IN SPITE OF THE VAST TERRITORIES AT THEIR DISPOSAL, ARAB REFUGESS WERE DELIBERATELY PREVENTED FROM ASSIMILATING INTO THEIR HOST COUNTRIES. OF 100 MILLION REFUGEES FOLLOWING WORLD WAR 2, THEY ARE THE ONLY GROUP TO HAVE NEVER INTEGRATED WITH THEIR CORELIGIONISTS. MOST OF THE JEWISH REFUGEES FROM EUROPE AND ARAB LANDS WERE SETTLED IN ISRAEL, A COUNTRY NO LARGER THAN NEW JERSEY;

13. THERE ARE 22 MUSLIM COUNTRIES, NOT COUNTING PALESTINE. THERE IS ONLY ONE JEWISH STATE. ARABS STARTED ALL FIVE WARS AGAINST ISRAEL, AND LOST EVERY ONE OF THEM;

14. FATAH AND HAMAS CONSTITUTIONS STILL CALL FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL. ISRAEL CEDED MOST OF THE WEST BANK AND ALL OF GAZA TO THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY, AND EVEN PROVIDED IT WITH ARMS;

15. DURING THE JORDANIAN OCCUPATION, JEWISH HOLY SITES WERE VANDALIZED AND WERE OFF LIMITS TO JEWS. UNDER ISRAELI RULE, ALL MUSLIM AND CHRISTIAN HOLY SITES ARE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL FAITHS;

16. OUT OF 175 UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS UP TO 1990, 97 WERE AGAINST ISRAEL; OUT OF 690 GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTIONS, 429 WERE AGAINST ISRAEL;

17. THE U.N. WAS SILENT WHEN THE JORDANIANS DESTROYED 58 SYNAGOGUES IN THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM. IT REMAINED SILENT WHILE JORDAN SYSTEMATICALLY DESECRATED THE ANCIENT JEWISH CEMETERY ON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES, AND IT REMAINED SILENT WHEN JORDAN ENFORCED APARTHEID LAWS PREVENTING JEWS FROM ACCESSING THE TEMPLE MOUNT AND WESTERN WALL.

MORE FACTS

The above list brought to my mind a few other facts about Israel:

* Israel will be planted by God in their own land and will never again be pulled up out of their land. (Amos 9:15)

* God has made Israel a threshing instrument and all nations which come against Israel do so for a thrashing (Isaiah 41:8-16; Micah 4:11-13)

* Israel is as a great lion. Who shall provoke him? Blessed is the one who blesses him, and cursed is the one that curses him. (Numbers 24:1-9)

The Killing Fields in America, Part 4: Bringing DOWN Baby

Speaking of atrocities, it seems to me that there is none greater than the dreaded D&X surgical procedure, better (or infamously) known as partial birth abortion. Another, much more descriptive term, as we shall see is: "Intrauterine Cranial Decompression". The two illustrations used in this article are from a Right to Life website.

THE SHORT-LIVED BAN

In 2003 Congress passed the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003. President Bush signed the bill into law. Since then, however, the law has been tied up in court with the willing assistance of radical leftist judges, who support the extreme leftist agenda for America. The fact that this law is tied up in the courts is almost as horrendous as the procedure itself. . . Almost.

SUCKING THE BRAINS OUT OF BABIES

How does the abortionist-exterminator carry out this dastardly deed? The following is a graphic description of the D&X procedure is described as follows:

“The abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first out of the womb and into the birth canal, except for the head, which the abortionist purposely keeps lodged just inside the opening to the womb. The abortionist punctures the base of the skull with a surgical instrument or a pointed hollow metal tube called a trochar. He then inserts a catheter (tube) into the wound, and removes the baby's brain with a powerful suction machine. This causes the skull to collapse, after which the abortionist completes the delivery of the now-dead baby.”

For a further description of the procedure see Rich Deem’s article. The following is a brief excerpt from his article:

“. . . Proponents of D&X have asserted that the procedure was rarely performed (approximately 450-500 per year) and only used in extreme cases when a woman's life was at risk or the fetus had a condition incompatible with life. In actuality, one facility alone admitted to performing 1500 of these procedures, the vast majority of which were carried out on healthy mothers with normal fetuses. Dayton, Ohio, physician Martin Haskell, MD, who had performed more than 700 partial-birth abortions, stated that most of his abortions are elective in that 20- to 24-week range and that "probably 20% are for genetic reasons, and the other 80% are purely elective."”

THE PRO DEATH SQUAD(S)

You can see that partial birth abortionist-exterminators are not above lying to justify and rationalize this immoral and unethical practice. The enemies of life, the proponents of a culture of death include politicians such as Sherrod Brown, who is running for U.S. Senate in Ohio, who has consistently voted against any restrictions on abortion, including partial-birth extermination. His comrades in “crime” include: Planned Parenthood Federation of America (the leading abortion-extermination mill), activist judges, NOW (radical feminists), NARAL (abortion industry advocates), and the ACLU (anti-American lawyers bent on destroying American values and rights). Many pre-born babies have a formidable foe, which seeks to preserve the status quo, that is, to continue to bring DOWN babies at all costs!

God Does Not Punish in This Life? Part 2

God struck Miriam with leprosy for speaking out against Moses’ choice to marry an Ethiopian (Cushite) woman in Numbers 12. When Jesus was on the way to his crucifixion, some women wept for him. But Jesus said, “Do not weep for me, weep for your children.” (Luke 23:27-31) Previously the Jews had said of Him, “may (his) blood be on our heads and on the heads of our children.” (Matthew 27:25) Ananias and Sapphira were struck down by God for lying to the Holy Spirit in Acts 5:1-11. Verses 5 and 11 indicate that there was great fear in the church because of this. An angel of the LORD struck down King Herod Agrippa I for accepting praise as if he were a god (Acts 12:23).

God promised the Israelites that if they would obey His commandments, He would bring upon them “none of these diseases, which I have brought upon the Egyptians”. Exodus 15:26, Deuteronomy 7:15. He threatened to bring back the diseases of Egypt if they did not observe all the words of the law (Deut. 28:58-61). God also heals diseases if there is repentance of sin, as you can see Psalm 103:3 and the many instances of healings in both the Old and New Testaments.

Ezekiel (see chapter 4, for example) prophesied that Jerusalem would be destroyed for its wickedness (and then it happened). Why did God do this? The phrase “then you (or they) will know that I am the LORD” appears about 60 times in the book of Ezekiel. That’s 1.2 times per chapter! God’s punishment of people on the earth is evidence of His true nature and it is evidence that there is an eternal punishment. Otherwise, probably no one would believe it.

Whenever God sends prophets to warn that destruction is coming, there are always false prophets who say that it isn’t going to happen. Isaiah 30:10 says:

They say to the seers, “See no more visions!” and to the prophets, “Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions.

We can’t usually understand why God punishes some people immediately and other times he delays punishment, even until Judgment Day. It isn’t, in general, because one person is worse than other. Read Luke 13:1-5.

Stasia St. James wrote…

Jesus brought the message of hope into a world hopelessly lost. A message of love to the unloved. Redemption, Santification and Glorification to those who believe.

Yes this is true, but most people don’t see that they are hopelessly lost. They think that they are basically good and won’t be punished. In order to know God’s mercy, these people need to know what they are being redeemed from. It’s wrong to try to motivate people to become Christians with the promise of peace. The Bible teaches that we should expect persecution and a lot of struggling with sin (Romans 7:14-25). Peter was not too politically incorrect to the Pentecost crowd that they crucified Jesus (Acts 2:36). The reason why real Christians become born again is that they are “cut to the heart” (Acts 2:37). Real love confronts sin. It does not sweep it under the rug.

God doesn’t just punish people who are going to Hell. He “disciplines those that He loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” (Hebrews 12:6) In fact if you are not being disciplined by God, then you should be worried. Hebrews 12:8 says that you are an illegitimate child! God disciplines us for our good so that we may share in his holiness. (Hebrews 12:10) The discipline is painful, but it produces righteousness and peace. (Hebrews 12:11)

The Killing Fields of America, Part 3: Cut "It" Out

On Friday I drove to Toledo to witness first hand the American Holocaust Photo Display at the intersection of Secor and Monroe in Toledo, Ohio. The above photo was taken at a previous Missionaries to the Preborn tour event. Approximately 50 people spread out strategically from that busy intersection were holding large 3'x4' photo posters of aborted babies. A graphic illustration of what we have permitted to happen "leagally" in Amerca since 1973. The man on the loud speaker declaring 4,000 babies are being aborted today. Colorful flyers were being handed out to stopped cars waiting at the traffic lights. On my way home I heard WSPD radio news interview with one of the persons viewing the signs. The person was quoted as saying that the sign holders had the freedom to get their message out, but the signs were pretty gruesome. Murder is pretty gruesome. God bless these folks investing their time as part of the two week American Atrocities Tour.

ABORTION: BUTCHERING BABIES

Those abortionist-exterminators are real cut ups. The surgical or “slice and dice” or “chopped liver and other body parts” is a killer of an idea, it calls for a veritable alphabet of mysterious terms describing various "solutions" or procedures. There’s MVA. There’s D&C. There’s D&E. Then worst of all, there’s D&X. In this post we will discuss the first three, then in the next post we will talk about the gruesome D&X.

Abortion propaganda on one college “health resource center” webpage states:

“Surgical abortion is one of the safest types of medical procedures. The three most common methods of surgical abortion are manual vacuum aspiration, dilation and suction curettage, and dilation and evacuation. The method that will be used depends on how long you have been pregnant, or the number of days since the first day of your last period.”

I’m not quite sure for whom it is safest, the woman or the abortionist-exterminator? It surely is not the safest for the baby facing annihilation at the knifed hand of the abortionist-exterminator. What, again, is the crime that this innocent one has committed that warrants a death penalty sentence? Such a sentence is usually reserved for the vilest most loathsome among us? The baby’s crime is being conceived, how he or she dare do such a dastardly deed, indeed!

TYPES OF SURGICAL EXTERMINATION

Manual vacuum aspiration (or MVA) is “the most common method of abortion during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. General or local anesthesia is given to the mother and her cervix is quickly dilated. A suction curette (hollow tube with a knife-edged tip) is inserted into the womb. This instrument is then connected to a vacuum machine by a transparent tube. The vacuum suction, 29 times more powerful than a household vacuum cleaner, tears the fetus and placenta into small pieces which are sucked through the tube into a bottle and discarded.

Dilation and Curettage (D&C) method is similar to the suction method with the added insertion of a hook shaped knife (curette) which cuts the baby into pieces. The pieces are scraped out through the cervix and discarded [Note: This abortion method should not be confused with a therapeutic D&C done for reasons other than pregnancy.]

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) method is used up to 18 weeks' gestation. Instead of the loop-shaped knife used in D&C abortions, a pair of forceps is inserted into the womb to grasp part of the fetus. The teeth of the forceps twist and tear the bones of the unborn child. This process is repeated until the fetus is totally dismembered and removed. Usually the spine must be snapped and the skull crushed in order to remove them.” [Italics added.]

CONCLUSION

Well, if this brief overview of some of the “safest types of medical procedures” being practiced today, (and most gory, grotesque, gruesome, and ungodly I might add) doesn’t sicken you, then must have less heart that the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. Actually there are over 12 different abortion methods, we have only discussed three of the most common here today. . . The killing continues.

God Does Not Punish in This Life?

Stasia St. James said…

Finally, GOD does not punish in this life. HE did not send Aids to punish homosexuals and HE did not send Bin Laden to punish us. The Bible teaches (study the book of Job, please) that GOD will withdraw his protection, but punishment awaits us in the afterlife.

God does punish in this life. He does more than just withdraw his protection. God kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden. (Genesis 3:17-23) He gave Cain a punishment that was more than he could bear. (Genesis 4:10-16) He punished the entire world with a flood. He punished the people at the tower of Babel by confusing their languages. (Try to image how that one would happen by God withdrawing his protection only!) God inflicted diseases on the Pharaoh who had taken Sarai, Abram’s wife, into his palace. God punished Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone. He punished the Pharaoh and Egyptians of Moses’ time with plagues. He punished the Israelites for worshipping a golden calf. He punished them with snakes for murmuring in wilderness. Ezekiel 5:8, 9 says, “Therefore this is what the sovereign LORD says: I myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will inflict punishment on you in the sight of the nations. Because of your detestable idols, I will do to you what I have never done before and will never do again.” I dare you to read what comes next. There are many other passages like this.

He caused an earthquake to swallow up a man named Korah and his followers who rebelled against God. (Numbers 16:31) In this instance Moses said, “This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things and that it was not my idea: If these men die a natural death and experience only what usually happens to men, then the LORD has not sent me. But if the LORD brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the grave, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.” (Numbers 16:28-30)

In the Book of Job, God allowed bad things to happen to Job. But just because the bad things were happening to a good person in this instance, does not mean that God never punishes evil in this life. Just because Job and friends erroneously arrived at the conclusion that Job must have done something wrong because of what was happening to him, does not mean that God never punishes people in this life. Sometimes bad things are a punishment from God and sometimes they are not.

I don’t know whether God sent AIDS or the September 11th attacks to punish people or if he only allowed these things to happen. But just in case that you are thinking that Jesus’ death on the cross put an end to God’s punishment on earth in this life, read Revelation 15 and 16.

An Eye for an Eye

Stasia St. James said…

“Jesus would NOT favor capital punishment: an eye for an eye went out when Jesus came in.”

Matthew 5:38 says, (Jesus speaking) “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”

Just because Jesus said, “You have heard it said, … but I tell you …”, that does not mean that he is abolishing the “You have heard it said, …” part. Read Matthew 5:27. Matthew 5:17 says, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”

Jesus is not saying that if someone rapes your daughter, then you should offer your other daughter to the rapist as well. The “strike” on the cheek that he has mentioned refers to something that doesn’t cause a serious injury, but is only insulting. The word “resist” is thought by some to mean in the context of a court of law.

Exodus 21:23 says, “If there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, …”. Note that in the previous verse it talks about in what situation this applies. “If men are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely…”. Note also in this verse that the woman’s husband can demand compensation in court if the injury is less than serious. Exodus 21:23 is not talking about premeditated acts. An issue of contention among the Jews during the time of Christ was whether this “law of retaliation” was also optional in cases of serious injury, depending on the demands of victim (or victim’s family). This law was designed by God to prevent people from escalating violence against each other (there were no police or jails at the time this law was given). This law is generalized in Leviticus 24:17-22.

There are many cases in the Law of Moses where the killing of law breakers (including murderers) was not optional because the sin was not just against another person, but against God. God warns that the curses upon the land which result from murder will not be atoned for if these sentences are not carried out. (Numbers 35:30-33) These laws have nothing to with the “law of retaliation” and I don’t see how Jesus was putting end to any these with his statement in Matthew 5:38. But Jesus did take the curses of sin upon his body on the cross (thus fulfilling the law), so believers in Him do not have to be afraid of them. But for those who don’t believe, the curse of the Law still applies and they should be afraid.

In conclusion, Jesus is not saying that we should let people walk all over us. He is saying that we should not make a big deal over trivial matters. Jesus did not teach that people should not seek justice for themselves and others who have been wronged. God hates lawlessness and injustice. These terms describe the modern liberalism of today. I’ll respond to the rest of the comment in a later post.

The Killing Fields of America, Part 2: Using Chemical Aborticides

It is an awful analogy but it works, take the product that cleans clogged up drains in the sinks of Americans, Drano®, it could easily represent the chemical aborticides being used to kill and American unborn children draining our country of a talent pool of doctors, teachers, ministers, et al. Unwanted babies are like a clogged up drain. The drain could represent a person’s life. It gets “clogged” with an unexpected pregnancy. We no longer have our “freedom” to do as we please. Now what do we do? If our birth control pills do not work, then we have a couple of options. One, we can now kill the unborn baby, or dispose of the tissue, with what is gently, euphemistically called the “morning after pill” or “Plan B”, or with another lovely chemical aborticide called RU-486, known accurately as the “Abortion Pill”.

In a discussion on a public internet forum recently, I discovered that the “Morning After Pill” or “Plan B” is not the “Abortion Pill". A Toledo Blade article explains the difference between the so-called “morning after pill” and the “abortion pill”.

THREE POTENTIAL OR REAL ABORTICIDES

There are three types of potential aborticides. The first is the birth control pill, the likelihood is not as great as the “morning after pill” or the “abortion pill”, but it potentially will cause an abortion. See the discussion below. The “morning after pill” is not as likely to cause an abortion as the “abortion pill” or RU-486.

· Birth Control Pills: In an article by Randy Acorn, “Does the Birth Control Pill Cause Abortions?" he writes: “Reproductive endocrinologists have demonstrated that Pill-induced changes cause the endometrium [ The endometrium is the inner membrane of the mammalian uterus. It develops in preparation for the implantation of a fertilized egg upon its arrival into the uterus. Source ] to appear "hostile" or "poorly receptive" to implantation. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) reveals that the endometrial lining of Pill users is consistently thinner than that of nonusers—up to 58 percent thinner. Recent and fairly sophisticated ultrasound studies have all concluded that endometrial thickness is related to the "functional receptivity" of the endometrium. Others have shown that when the lining of the uterus becomes too thin, implantation of the pre-born child (called the blastocyst or pre-embryo at this stage) does not occur.”

The Rhythm Method and Natural Family Planning are more acceptable alternatives to birth control pills.

· “Emergency contraception pills: Also known as “Plan B” or the “morning-after pill,” it is a high dose of hormones taken orally that women can take up to five days after sex to prevent a pregnancy. This medication usually stops the release of an egg from the ovary, or blocks fertilization of a woman’s egg. However, IT CAN PREVENT A FERTILIZED EGG FROM ATTACHING TO THE WOMB — it’s this possibility that causes many anti-abortion groups to oppose it. The most recent battle over this drug has surfaced at the FDA. . .”

· “RU-486: Also known as Mifeprex, this drug is taken orally and can end a pregnancy up to 49 days after the last menstrual cycle. . . . It has been widely criticized by anti-abortion groups who see THE “CHEMICAL” OR “MEDICAL” ABORTION IT INDUCES AS NO DIFFERENT THAN TRADITIONAL TYPES OF ABORTION PROCEDURES. The FDA announced in July that it was investigating the safety of Mifeprex after four women died after using it.

The National Pro-Life Alliance (NPLA) reported in their Spring ’06 LifeLine Newsletter that “Since the politically-driven approval by the Clinton Administration in 2000, the RU-486 “Abortion Pill” has caused the documented deaths of at least seven women in America and caused serious and, in many causes, life-threatening side effects in more than 600 other women.”

HOLLY PATTERSON’S HORROR STORY

The following is from a WorldNet Daily article: "Planned Parenthood's outspoken activists remain stone-cold silent about Holly Patterson. She's the teenager who died of tragic complications from taking the abortion drug cocktail RU-486, which she obtained from a northern California Planned Parenthood clinic in September. Holly and her unborn child suffered a painful, bloody and prolonged death." "Patterson was seven weeks pregnant when she received the chemical abortion regimen. After seven days and two desperate trips to a hospital emergency room seeking help for intense cramping and bleeding, she succumbed to "septic shock, due to endomyometritis (inflammation) due to therapeutic, drug-induced abortion," according to an Alameda County coroner's report..."

So not only does the RU-486 kill babies it kills or hurts their mothers as well. For this latter reason alone the “Abortion Pill” should be banned by the FDA. But the resistance from NARAL and Planned Parenthood and their allies (who are purported to be such strong supporters of woman’s rights) seem to care little of a few casualties of the use of RU 486. There was more of an uproar over unproven silicone breast implants being harmful, which had no scientific proof before they were banned and manufacturers were sued and lost cases based on false evidence.

CONCLUSION

Abortion is murder and unnatural. Using any of the chemical (medications) such as birth control pills, “Plan B” or RU-486, may or will cause abortions and should not be used. I believe that even though the chance of abortion may be small using birth control pills, there is still a chance and therefore birth control pills should not be used. A Good Choice is using the Rhythm Method or Natural Family Planning mentioned above in lieu of any of the three "pills" any of which may cause abortions.

The Killing Fields of America, Part I: Introduction

We were and are all outraged by atrocities from all around the world, such as: the holocaust and genocide that have occurred in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, Red China, Cambodia, Uganda, and Sudan by corrupt cruel godless dictators. We are shocked by the senseless killing of civilians here and abroad by Islamo-fascist terrorists and Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim religious fundamentalists in the name of protecting and preserving their “precious” religions.

All of this pales in comparison with the atrocities perpetrated in America since 1973 when Roe v. Wade became the “rule of man”. This will be a first of a series of at least four articles on how we “legally” kill babies’ everyday. America has “progressed” very far down the road to our own destruction by what we have allowed to happen to our values, our principles, our beliefs. People of faith, true faith-based Christians, are beginning to get aroused about what we have allowed to happen in our schools, in our culture. Hopefully the tide can still be turned. Hopefully we will wake up and we will strengthen the things that remain.

Initially we will discuss how to prepare to kill, then we will examine the various methods we have implemented or are considering to implement to actually commit, or by our inaction condone the murders.

REQUIRED PREPARATION

GET GOD OUT

First, you must convince yourself that there is no God. If there is no God, then there are no consequences to what I do. Deny that marriage is the only legitimate relationship in which to gratify your sexual passions. After all we live in an age of enlightenment. If it feels good do it. If an unplanned pregnancy occurs as a result of having fun, then call Planned Parenthood, they’ll give you good direction. Deny that all life is sacred in God’s eyes. Deny that every human being ever conceived was known and loved by God. Deny that terminating a pregnancy or killing an embryo is snuffing out a life.

IT'S ONLY TISSUE

Second you must convince yourself that the embryo is not a human being; it is a just mass of cells, just tissue, just an appendage of a female’s body says all the wise scientists. The glob of tissue is not a human until it separates from the female’s body. Deny that God (who doesn’t exist, right?) formed my every part while in my mother’s womb and had a purpose and a plan for my life.

PICK A TIME

Third, you must select pick a number 1 to 9. Anytime during the female’s nine month pregnancy, from the first day or the last day, is okay to do away wit the “life-less” fetus. After all, it is just part of the female’s body and she can chose to do whatever she wants with her body. Again, at this point it is easy, no God, no life, no problem.

PICK THE POISON

Fourth, pick your poison, err, method of extermination. The next post will deal with the “Drano” or chemical solution. There is also the “Slice & Dice” or surgical solution. There is the “advanced” “D & X” procedure. We could also discuss embryonic stem cell research, cloning and infanticide.

In the next post we will discuss the killing-by-chemical solution.

Do no harm?

Last week a story about doctors and nurses aiding in the execution process aired on the far left PBS TV news magazine NOW. The first premise of the report was that the presence of doctors and nurses at executions is necessary in order for the condemned person to be spared any unnecessary pain. The second premise was that it is unethical for doctors to participate in executions because they have sworn by the Hippocratic Oath to “do no harm”. They don’t come out and say that they are against the death penalty, but this is obviously what they are underhandedly trying to get their audience to conclude. Their main purpose is probably to get their mostly liberal audience an argument against capital punishment.

The purpose of punishment is to satisfy God’s requirement of justice. The issue is not whether the death penalty is an effective means of controlling crime. The issue is that it is simply immoral to spare criminals from their proper punishment. The more serious the crime is, the more serious the punishment should be.

The most obvious flaw in their argument is that there is nothing wrong with inflicting pain on murderers or any other justly convicted capital offenders. Under the Law of Moses, people were whipped, stoned, and burned to death. If these punishments are unjust, then God is unjust because He is the one who commanded that they be done.

Another flaw in their argument is that the Hippocratic Oath is not the law. It is a pagan concept and it is not Biblical. One could argue, in fact, that such an oath is sinful on several grounds. It may prohibit one from doing his or her duty as a Christian and an American. Jesus said “Let your yes be yes and your no be no.” The producers of NOW should be the last ones to be using this argument, since they are constantly touting the benefits and necessity of legalized abortion which are performed by doctors. “Do no harm”? They should be taking the Hypocritical Oath. It is only acceptable to for a doctor to make an agreement not to harm INNOCENT human beings.

They quoted the 8th amendment to the U.S. Constitution several times in the program. It states that there shall not be “cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” Unfortunately, one of the flaws in our Constitution is that in a very few places our constitution uses relative terms and is therefore vague. One person's idea of what is cruelty and what is unusual may differ from some else’s. The same amendment states that “excessive bail shall not be required”. How much is excessive? It is unreasonable to interpret “cruelty” to mean painful. There is no way to totally extract pain out of punishment. It really isn’t punishment anymore, then, is it? In a world of painless punishments, no realizes what the consequences of sin are. I believe that there should be a limit to the amount of punishment that can be carried out upon a criminal by the state, but the presence of doctors should not be necessary for this. The Bible does set a limit of 40 lashes for the crimes in which whipping was appropriate. I think that the interpretation of the 8th amendment should be that no punishment should go beyond limits that were set in the Bible. I believe this is what the Founders had in mind.

The real question we should be asking is, “What parts of the Law of Moses concerning punishments for crimes should apply to governments today?” This is a difficult question. One man was put to death just for picking up sticks on the Sabbath. Jesus said, “He who has not sinned cast the first stone.” Cain and David were not put to death even though they committed murder. This is a really difficult question.

Liberal Patriot or Liberal Traitor?

The following comment was posted to this blog on Friday, 07/14/06, by an anonymous poster who refers to himself as “A Tax Paying Citizen of the United States of America.” My comments follow his tirade.

”Mr. Taxpaying Citizen” Writes:

A good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit (Matt 7:18). It is time you opened your eyes and thoughtfully absorb the consequences of supporting an administration for partisan, patriotic, or even religious purposes. I am sure that many of you who have staunchly defended these leaders have done so for altruistic purposes. However, there comes a point in time that one must sincerely consider, critique, and act upon facts rather than rhetoric.

How can any of you believe that George W. Bush is a man of God when the fruits of this man’s presidency are burning before our eyes? He has lied from
day one of his candidacy for 2000, beginning with his claims of being a “Compassionate Conservative,” and a “Uniter, not a Divider,” and he continues to lie. Has America been a good neighbor under this administration? Have we been good world citizens? I would argue that we have not. We have not considered the innocent people of Iraq in our calculations, under the leadership of an administration that contradicts itself as it claims, “We are the liberators of Iraq,” while telling us that “We’d rather fight them over there.” We have not considered the brave patriots that we have squandered in our battle of false premise. We have not thoughtfully scrutinized not only the devastating impact upon the Middle East, but the impact that these actions have and will ultimately continue to have on American families. What happened to the good-will of the entire world for our country? They have not been wise stewards.

When will this man be held accountable for his lies and the devastating consequences of those lies? There was courage upon the “Hill” to impeach a president guilty of personal indiscretions, personal dishonesty, but when it comes to a president and his administration that has cost this world unquantifiable hardship and a disturbing loss of life that continues to unfold; cowardice is the mode of operation.

Our political leaders have used their pens to send our bravest citizens into what has now become a nest of barbarity while tacitly encouraging savagery that has already cost our soldiers and their families dearly. Why? They have flagrantly dismissed the rules of war and have consistently strived to circumvent the Constitution that they claim to defend. Why? They said is was to protect us. That was a lie. They said it was to liberate. That was a lie.

Are you going to be complacent in this struggle? We are fighting for more than the prevention of terrorism—we are fighting for our true moral purpose in this world. And I ask you, what is it that you think the moral purpose of our country is? Is it to bear good fruit, or is it to complacently rally our leaders regardless of their actions or the consequences of those actions?

We must fight with our pens now—pick up your pen for this country. Pick up your pen for our service men and women; pick up your pen in opposition to greed, in opposition to arrogance, in opposition to deceit, and in opposition to the oppression of our neighbors. This administration must be held accountable.

Sam responds:

I see by your posting that (1) you are a Liberal; (2) you definitely say nothing to demonstrate that you a Christian; (3) You are more concerned about the world’s opinion and not at all concerned about what God thinks.

You consider removing a tyrant from leadership of a county is bad; one who murdered, raped, paid $25,000 to families of suicide bombers, and wanted to destroy Israel. This is bad for the Middle East? This is pure nonsense.

Who’s guilty of personal indiscretion? What about sending troops into Somalia, sent in without enough fire power to do the job, and pulling out when the troops run into difficulty.

This is what set the United States up for 9/11.In conclusion, are you a terrorist sympathizer, you sure sound like one?

Who's Agenda Does America Follow Anyway?

The following article is based on a discussion that I recently had on the "In the News" Forum. The following is my response to a general statement that the "conservative agenda" is what is hurting and harming America.

I found
Hans Zeiger's definitions of conservatism and liberalism most helpful: "Conservatism is the belief that the moral values of an inevitably flawed society should be preserved and individuals should take responsibility for their lives and their government because they are accountable to God. Liberalism is the belief that the moral values of a perfectible society should be changed and the state should take responsibility for its people because it is accountable to the progress of humanity."

To help me better illustrate and contrast these opposing worldviews I put Mr. Zeiger's definition in table format. This may not be every conservatives definition of "conservatism", however it does capture my philosphy quite well. I am a social and a fiscal conservative. There are also variations between these two concepts. Perhaps you could think of each as ends of a continuum. Everyone gravitates to one end of the continuum or the other.

PHILOSOPHY: …….… CONSERVATISM: ……... LIBERALISM:

BELIEF: ……….………… moral values of an ……… moral values of a
…………………………..….… inevitably flawed ……..… perfectible society
………………….………..…… society should be …..... should be
………………….……….….… preserved…………...…..…
changed

RESPONSIBILITY: ... individuals should ….… the state should
………………….……..……… take responsibility …..… take responsibility
………………….………..…… for their lives and …....... for its people
………………….…..………… their government

ACCOUNTABILITY: ...individuals are ……..… the state is
…………….………………..….accountable ……………… accountable to
…………….…………………….to God………..………….… the
progress
…………….……………………………………….…………,…… of humanity

There are two philosophies or worldviews vying for the hearts and minds of Americans. Conservatism recognizes absolute moral standards. Conservatism emphasizes individual responsiblity in how we live and how we govern ourselves. Conservatism realizes that that we are ultimately and solely accountable to a Higher Authority, Almighty God, which becomes the our motivation and purpose for living.

On the other hand, liberalism recognizes no absolute moral standards, standards must be dynamic and flexible to reflect the changing, evolving, and ever perfecting society. Liberalism emphasizes the state's role in being responsible in working for society, the common good of all. Liberalism realizes that the state is accountable to improving the lot of humanity, in other words the state is accountable to society for improve life for the common good of all.

No, it is not the conservative agenda that is hurting America. Actually, the conservative agenda was the Founding Fathers' agenda. The Founding Fathers were predominately men of faith in God, Jesus Christ and adherents of the Judeo-Christian bible.

The agenda advanced by the extreme liberal left, which is made up of an amalgamation of secular humanists, atheists, man-centered "Christians" (an apostate form of Christianity typified by the
recently appointed bishop of the US Episcopal Church), the baby-exterminators, the homosexuals, and other radical individuals and organizations.

First and foremost, therefore, it is the seventy-year systematic stealth march of the liberal left foisting its agenda on America that has caused America greatest harm. Second, it is conservatists that have lost or lack laser sharp focus and have essentially stepped aside and let the left march on by . . . This is our challenge, this is our mandate to first stop the Liberal agenda, and then to turn back the progressives' trampling of America's moral foundations and values. Make A Good Choice and join the fight to restore the conservative agenda.

Slavery Part 6: Spiritual Slavery

Anyone who has a total aversion to slavery cannot be saved. The Bible teaches that whoever wants to become great must be a servant (Matthew 20:26). In fact, in order to be saved, one must become a servant. Matthew 7:21-23 says, “…he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Who must we serve? Jesus said, “My Father will honor the one who serves me.” (John 12:26) We should be “… like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.” (Ephesians 6:6). But how does one know that he is serving God? What principles does God stand for? Romans 6:19 says, “…you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and ever-increasing wickedness (lawlessness), so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.”

In addition to serving God (or how we are to serve God, in a way), we must also serve others. The one who rules should be the one who serves (Luke 22:26). Paul made himself “a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.” (I Corinthians 9:19) Phoebe was a “servant of the church in Cenchrea”. (Romans 16:1) “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:35)

Jesus set the example of what being a servant is all about. (Matthew 12:18) As I mentioned in a previous post, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, a task usually only performed by the lowest of servants. This was the way Jesus showed them how much he loved them. (John 13:1) Christ set the example for us in that “he made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father.” (Philippians 2:7-11). In the same way, we should be slaves to obedience (Romans 6:16). “Christ has become a servant of the Jews (circumcision) on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs” (Romans 15:8).

The only other alternative to being a slave to God is being a slave to sin. The Simon the sorcerer was a “captive to sin” (Acts 8:23). To serve sin means to serve one’s appetite (Romans 16:18), in a lawless and impure way (Romans 6:19) which leads to corruption (II Peter 2:19). Serving sin leads to death (Romans 6:16). Everyone who sins is a slave to sin (John 8:34). (Read my earlier post “God Made Man in His Own Image” if you haven’t already.) But by the Spirit, one may put to death the misdeeds of body (Romans 8:13) and the body of sin is done away with by being crucified with Christ (Romans 6:6). One is disqualified unless he makes his own body his slave (I Corinthians 9:27). No one can serve two masters (Luke 16:13). But Paul makes a distinction between being a slave to sin in mind and being a slave to the law of sin in the flesh (Romans 7:25). The former means being free from the control of righteousness (Romans 6:20). The latter means the struggle between the mind and the flesh explained in Romans 7:14-24. A person can follow rules which sound good to the world, but which fall far short of God’s standards. Such a person is a slave to a law (of Moses, for example) but this is really only another way of being a slave to sin. (Galatians 4:8-11, 21-31)

For those of us who choose to follow in the way of Christ’s teachings, that is, in the truth, we have the promise of being set free by the Son (John 8:31, 32, 36, Galatians 5:1-6). Though we must share in his sufferings (Romans 8:14-17), the servant of Christ will become the friend of God (John 15:14, 15). Because “God sent his Son, born of woman,” and “born under law” we can go from being slaves to sons of God (Galatians 3:28-4:7). But slaves of sin have already become sons of the devil (John 8:40-47). Our adoption as sons comes with the redemption of our bodies (Romans 8:23). This comes with being free from fears such as the fear of death (Hebrews 2:15, Romans 8:15). Even creation itself will be free from its bondage to decay (Romans 8:21). The 2nd law of thermodynamics will come to end.

Do you want to be set free?

Slavery Part 5: Slavery in the World Today

There are forms of bondage in the world today that you might not think of as being slavery.

You may recall that in the first part of this series I talked about how the Egyptians put themselves into bondage in exchange for food during the seven years of famine. Joseph agreed to allow the people to live on their land and take the Pharaoh’s grain in exchange for 20% of their crops indefinitely. This was considered bondage. In our society, most of us pay much more in taxes than 20%, even though we or our ancestors were never in the position where we needed to make such a deal to save our lives as these Egyptians did.

In part 2 of the series, we also discussed the ways that a person could “sell himself” into slavery if he needed to for lack of means to meet his families’ needs. In doing so, he gives up some (but by no means all) of his rights as a citizen. Likewise, in our society, when a person declares bankruptcy, he gives up some of his usual rights in exchange for protection from creditors. Similarly, once a person commits a crime (including a war crime), and is convicted, he gives up some (or all) of his rights as a person and he is not given a choice in the matter.

You may have heard about proposals from the Bush administration about a Guest Worker Program. You may not know that Bush’s proposed program is an expansion on an already existing program. Though it is limited, this program employs foreigners at wages often less than minimum wage, and once the worker chooses an employer, he must stay in the program for the agreed amount of time and is not allowed to work for anyone else. This is about the same thing as temporary slavery under the Mosaic Law.

For other forms of modern slavery, see Greg’s post on the subject. In my next post, I will talk more about spiritual slavery.

America: Freedoms Lost & Found

AOL News reported today that the Soledad cross, because of a Supreme Court Justice's ruling, may remain standing for now. This historic monument marks the cemetary of Korean War veterans in San Diego, California. Because one lone atheist was "offended" by having to look at the cross, legal action was brought about against the City of San Diego. The ACLU and this atheist have had this legal action in court for 17 years.

Isn't it tragic that on America's 230th birthday we must fight to keep a cherished symbol of our faith and tradition standing? The wave of extreme Liberalism that has swept across our nation and has left great destruction in its wake including effectively:

· Murdering millions upon millions of innocent babies;

· Banishing God, Jesus Christ and all things Christian from our schools, our government and our society making it unlawful even to acknowledge God our Creator in our schools and in our courtrooms;

· Nullifying centuries old sodomy laws, overturning precedent, accepting and promoting this deviant homosexual lifestyle as normal, natural;

· Instilling in our children and society the false idea condoms are the answer to premarital sex, not abstinence and teaching of morality and virtue;

· Condemning and ridiculing movies like the Passion of the Christ, but raving and promoting trash such as the immoral Brokeback Mountain;

· Teaching exclusively the unproven theory of evolution, over the equally and even more plausible Intelligent Design and Creationism concepts;

· Taking as “gospel” the unproven hypotheses about global warming and other so-called environmental crisis issues;

· Applying the doctrine of emanate domain by our courts taking away property from private owners and not for roads or for other society benefits but to enrich other private property owners; and

· Refusing to carry out prescribed death penalty sentences using every excuse and delay tactic and rationale conceivable, caring nothing about bringing about justice for the victim.

These are but a few of the charred damages to ou once moral, principled, Christian and free society. We have essentially lost our way, we have lost a great deal of our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech [that is, unless you spew vulgar and vile filth like Howard Stern or our many rap “artists”]; and most tragically, many babies are continue losing their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of their happiness, because of his or her mother’s and father’s irresponsibility, and because of the baby exterminators disguised as Planned Parenthood and their comrades in harm.

Reflecting on this nation's great freedoms past, I am hopeful that a revival, a renewal, yes, maybe even a revolution may ensue that will restore ,once again the values and principles that made this country the great land of liberty. These things I pray in the name of Jesus Christ and for His sake. Actually, it is He, who is the only hope for America. Our forefathers knew that very well.

“The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity…I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and the attributes of God.” - John Adams, June 28, 1813; Letter to
Thomas Jefferson

"[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”–John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress

America is teetering on the brink of loss of its sovereignty and independence. Even President Bush, who may be more of a closet liberal than a true conservative, has secretly been setting in motion the so-called North American Union which portends the dissipation of our sovereignty. America, it is time to wake up and strengthen the things that remain, before it is everlastingly too late.

May God once again see fit to bless America? Yes, but it must start with individual radical heart transplants. To be truly free, must recognize that we need Him. This is the foundation upon which America was been built, the firm footing, the Rock, on which we stand, and the future in which we now hope. This is really A Good Choice, the best choice you could ever make.

Slavery Part 4: Negro Slavery in America

Most people in Pennsylvania and the New England states believed that the slavery practiced in the other colonies was against the American principles of “all men are created equal” and the guarantee of “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness”. Unfortunately, for the sake of winning their own freedom against the oppressive British tyranny, they were willing to compromise and join a union of states which did allow rights of blacks to be violated.

At various times, the importation of slaves is prohibited in various states. In 1777, Vermont becomes the first colony to abolish slavery. In 1780, the Massachusetts Constitution is adopted with a freedom clause that is interpreted as abolishing slavery. To prevent cruelty to slaves, owners in South Carolina were prohibited from working slaves more than 15 hours between March 25 and September 25 and not more than 14 hours between September 25 and March 25. In 1780, Pennsylvania adopted a law that gradually emancipated slaves that are born after 1780 when they turn twenty-eight. In 1784, Connecticut and Rhode Island adopted gradual emancipation laws. In 1785, slavery was prohibited in the newly formed Northwest Territories. In 1799, New York adopted a gradual emancipation law. In 1804, New Jersey adopted a gradual emancipation law. Southern states began making demands that for every Free State admitted to the union, there must also be a slave state admitted to the union. The Missouri Compromise of 1820 made slavery illegal in the Louisiana territory that is north of the Missouri border. Missouri was admitted as a slave state and Maine was admitted as a free state. In 1844 slavery was prohibited in Oregon. In 1850, California was admitted as a free state. As a compromise, the slave states Utah and New Mexico were admitted without restrictions, but the slave trade was banned in Washington D.C. In 1858, Kansas was admitted to the Union as a free state. In 1863, slavery was abolished in Utah. In 1864, the Fugitive Slave Law was repealed. Slavery was abolished in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Missouri. [1]

I have heard some people say that Negro slavery in America was not that bad—that slave owners usually treated their slaves well, and that could win their freedom when they were treated too harshly. I haven’t found any evidence of the latter. In fact, in Virginia, for the commission of petty offenses; slaves could be whipped, branded, or maimed. [1] In 1723, manumission became illegal in Virginia. [1] A person of color was not permitted to testify against a white Christian, according to a 1717 Maryland law.[2] Another Maryland law declared that slaves would be punished by death, branding, or whipping if found guilty for murder, arson, larceny, association with whites, insolence, and traveling without permission. [1] Slaves in Virginia were also not allowed to leave the plantation without written permission from their master. This was punishable by 60 lashes [1] (which goes beyond the limit of 40 set by Mosaic Law, Deuteronomy 25:2, 3) and placement in a pillory where the slave’s ears were cut off. [1] The only punishment which is as harsh as this under the Mosaic Law is the cutting off the hand (Deuteronomy 25:12), but this was for something else, not for disobedient slaves. In the case, State v. Mann, North Carolina Supreme Court justice Thomas Ruffin ruled that masters could not be prosecuted for assaulting their slaves. In 1740, the Negro Act is passed in South Carolina. The act made it illegal for slaves to gather in groups, earn money, learn to read, and raise food. The act permits owners to kill rebellious slaves. [1]

Slavery was not just legal, but was subsidized. In 1663, the proprietors of North Carolina encouraged settlers to have slaves by promising that they would be given 20 acres of land for every black male slave and 10 acres for every black female slave brought to the colony within the first year. [1]

In 1819, blacks were prohibited from learning to read in Virginia. An 1831 North Carolina law prohibits teaching slaves from learning to read and write. In 1831, Virginia passed a law that prohibits slaves from gathering at night for religious services. [1] In 1844 free blacks are denied citizenships in North Carolina. [1] In 1837, Pennsylvania and Mississippi took away the right of blacks to vote. [1] In 1712, freed blacks are prohibited from owning property in New York. The 1857 Dred Scott decision denied citizenship to all slaves, ex-slaves, and slave descendants. The decision effectively declared that blacks were only property and not persons under the law. The modern day equivalent is the Roe v. Wade decision which declares that unborn babies are not persons under the law.

In Maryland and in other states, blacks were forbidden from marrying whites. The Bible says that it is wrong to forbid people from marrying. Miriam was struck with leprosy when she spoke against Moses for marrying an Ethiopian woman. Solomon’s romance in the Song of Solomon was to a black woman. (Moses and Solomon were not “white”, but surely anything that would apply to a Jew should also be allowed for a Caucasian.)

Some people criticize the Lincoln administration for suspending the writ of habeas corpus and for violating the first amendment by having people arrested for speaking out against the Civil War. These critics should also consider that in 1836 the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a “gag rule” which automatically tabled abolitionist material. [1]

Slavery was something that God did not intend in the beginning, but allowed it under certain conditions and with certain limitations in the Old Testament. Slavery in America went well beyond these limitations, especially in states south of Pennsylvania. The Old Testament had guidelines for how a person could become a slave. There is nothing in the Bible that says slaves could be prohibited from owning property. Though Americans were not the ones who originally enslaved the blacks, they were guilty of encouraging and participating in the unjust treatment of those who were most likely wrongfully enslaved by Biblical standards. The fact that a certain race was singled out for unjust treatment is what makes this all the more disturbing. For more about slavery under the Law of Moses, see my previous post. Also see what Greg wrote about slavery in the world today. I will have more to say about this in my next post.
