Lawson For Congress

In North Carolina's fourth district GOP primary, B.J. Lawson defeated Augustus Cho, a pro-war, stay-the course neoconservative.

B.J. Lawson’s Positions

On the war, Lawson says, “We need an orderly and immediate military withdrawal from Iraq.” He opposes H Con Res 362, the bill that would impose a blockade of Iran, which would likely be taken as an act of war by the Iranian government.

He supports the American Freedom Agenda Act of 2007. This would stop the president from denying people the right to a fair trial.

He would help the economy by limiting the ability of Congress to pass unconstitutional spending measures and require that bills contain only one subject, and must be read in their entirety by any congressmen voting on it.

He favors getting rid of the IRS, but opposes the Fair Tax because it would “provide a tax hike with every inflationary increase in your gas and grocery bill.” The only correct course of action, in his opinion, is to stop wasteful spending. Lawson supports the Honest Money Act which would restore currency backed up by gold and silver.

He would also “work to stop unconstitutional federal mandates that require states provide social services to undocumented aliens, eliminate welfare-state incentives that encourage illegal immigration, physically secure the border, and enforce existing visa laws.”

He supports measures that would return control of the schools to state and local governments, which would include getting rid of the U.S. Department of Education.

He said, “I am strongly pro-life, and view protection of life as the primary role of government.” He supports the Sanctity of Life Act of 2007 and the We the People Act.

David Eugene Price’s positions

Lawson’s opponent David Eugene Price believes that partial birth abortions should be legal. He complains about President Bush’s legacy of leaving the nation with higher debt and deficits, but yet he indicates in this survey question that he would increase spending in almost every area including the much maligned No Child Left Behind program, a universal healthcare program, foreign aid, and federally funded welfare. He would require that crimes based on sexual orientation be prosecuted as federal hate crimes and would include sexual orientation in federal anti-discrimination laws. Like B.J., he is against the war in Iraq.

Conclusion

B.J. Lawson will help restore our freedoms and liberties by limiting government and protecting the innocent, but with Mr. Price, we can expect continued injustice for the unborn, skyrocketing inflation, and more forced political correctness. Click here to support B.J. Lawson for Congress.

Minorities Nanny State Money Returned to State of Ohio

The NAACP is complaining about Cincinnati city council’s decision to reject $264,000 in funds provided by the state of Ohio that would have created an Office of Minority Health. They cite high disease rates among minorities and the current healthcare crisis as reasons for being upset by this. Read their article here.

I, however, applaud city council’s decision to reject this money.

First of all, providing healthcare is not the proper role of government. It is immoral for government to use taxpayer’s money for anything that it not necessary for punishing criminals, maintaining the courts, and keeping the peace. If you use taxpayers’ money to support some program, you are criminalizing anyone who disagrees with you. If someone does not believe that this is a good use of his money and refuses to pay, he is put in jail for it.

Does anybody really think the government can solve problems like disproportionate rates of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, sickle cell anemia, and prostate cancer among minorities? The NAACP also cites infant deaths as a reason for wanting this government bureaucracy. This obvious hypocrisy of this is amazing to me.

Thirdly, why does it have to be an office of MINORITY Health? Isn’t the NAACP supposed to be for EQUAL treatment of minorities? How can a program that benefits only minorities, at the expense of all taxpayers be construed as EQUAL treatment?

The Cleveland Raids

Another government violation of the public trust was exposed this week. An article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer gives the details of the case that the IRS and the FBI have brought against Cuyahoga County officials for using taxpayers’ money unethically for their own advantage.

Raids on the county offices proceeded on suspicion that a county commissioner and the auditor gave county construction contracts to businesses that gave them free home improvements in exchange. There were also many other alleged illegal deals between the two allegedly corrupt politicians and various businesses.

First of all, what gives the FBI and IRS the right to get involved in this? This is a local matter. It should have been the state attorney general’s job to investigate this matter.

The article’s author mentions all the benefits of these construction projects. This is the problem. Everybody wants these projects which force taxpayer’s to pay for “job creation” or “economic revitalization”, but then they are all shocked when there are abuses. What right has the government have that allows it to take your money and use it for the “overall good” when it is really just giving it away to rich people just hoping that they will use it in a way that benefit everyone. What does the right to property mean? The author of the article gives a list of reasons why government exists: “revitalizing the economy, serving troubled and abused children and possibly even caring for soldiers injured in Iraq and aging veterans.” What about punishing criminals? Isn’t that really the real purpose of government? Isn’t that the way it used to be? Isn’t that what the Bible says (Romans 13)? Certainly soldiers do deserve healthcare from the government because of the service they have provided to the country. (Even though the President got us into the war on false pretenses, the soldiers are not at fault for this and should receive just compensation.)

As long as people continue to vote according to what is most “economically beneficial” and not what is most biblically correct, we can expect more and more corruption cases such as this. If the government did not get involved in these “economic stimulation” programs there would be much less temptation and opportunity to pull off these corrupt practices and we wouldn’t have the federal government raiding our communities as often.

Has Obama Got Game, Gall, or What?

A Michael Ramirez Cartoon found on TownHall.com

California's Proposition 8 - Vote YES

"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California."

- Proposition 8

As often as I can I try to listen to the insightful American Family Association’s radio program AFA Report with Don Wildmon. On Tuesday part of the discussion involved the important ballot issue coming up in November in California. The wildly activist California Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage was legal effect in June, despite the fact that the majority of Californians several years ago voted by over 60% voted to protect the traditional definition of marriage.

The homosexual lobby, their advocates and supporters have incessantly pushed their agenda to the point now that we are on the brink of seeing the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Don Wildmon made the following observations on his radio show yesterday:

“California is a big dam holding back the flood waters, If the dam breaks, it floods the whole country.”

“If this (Proposition 8) fails in California, then the marriage laws that have been put on the books in state constitutions (27 states) . . . those are gone. . . and whether you like it or not homosexual“marriage” is going to be accepted from now on.

". . . Okay, we (Christian Founders and people) built this society. We came out of the Judeo-Christian perspective. We worked hard. Democracy could bloom with Judeo-Christian values. There are those who are bound and determined that they are going to tear all that down . . .

“Normally I don’t say things like this, I keep them to myself, because you can always be wrong. But, I am convinced that the outcome in California on Proposition 8 will influence America more than the presidential election . . . The most important election this year is in California with Proposition 8.
If Proposition 8 is defeated . . . in California, I think basically the culture war is over and we (Christians & America) have lost . . . and Western Civilization, which came out of the mind of Christ is on its way to expire and we don’t know what it will be replaced with . . . if (Christianity) is not made illegal, there certainly will be persecution and prosecution, maybe not physically, but financially and in other ways . . . (We) will be discriminated against . . .”

The radical homosexual lobby and their leftist friends and supporters are pulling out all the stops on this one. They want to destroy traditional one-man, one-woman marriage. Take the radical elite on all levels of government in the state of California; the state’s Governor, the California Supreme Court, and California’s Congress continually defy the will of the majority of its citizens. They intend to ram same-sex marriage one way or another down the throats of the people of California and eventually on all of America.California is the place and the time to take a stand. See what lengths the homosexual activists and the destroyers of the sanctity of one-man, one-woman marriage will go to . . .

BALLOT PROPOSITION WORDING CHANGE

The original Proposition 8 language: Amends the California Constitution to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

The rewording: Changes California Constitution to eliminate (the) right of same-sex couples to marry. Provides that only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

Fiscal Impact: Over the next few years, potential revenue loss, mainly sales taxes, totaling in the several tens of millions of dollars, to state and local governments. In the long run, likely little fiscal impact to state and local governments.

PROPOSITION PROPONENTS TO SUE OVER POLITICAL BALLOT LANGUAGE TINKERING

The LA Times reports: “Supporters of Proposition 8, the proposed state constitutional amendment that would ban [same-sex] marriage, said they would file suit today to block a change made by California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown to the language of the measure’s ballot title and summary.”

Isn’t Jerry Brown the former governor of California who himself is an extreme leftist? He has solidly aligned with the forces promoting same-sex marriage in defiance against the will of the majority of Californians. He apparently feels that he is above the law, he knows better than the people, and he intends to do all he can to defeat the ballot initiative.

The same-sex marriage advocates, who are desirous of destroying the sacredness and uniqueness of traditional one-man, one-woman marriage, even tried to prevent Proposition 8 from even appearing on the ballot despite overwhelming number of required signatures and meeting every deadline. They followed in the footsteps of the devious California Supreme Court, who decided to grant marriage licenses to same-sex “couples” despite request from many state attorney generals who requested that they stay the decision until after the ballot initiative was brought to the people in November. But no, they wickedly wantonly did what THEY wanted to do. This whole issue is tyranny of the few over the many. It is the blatant misuse of power.

TAKE ACTION

If you live in California vote for Proposition 8 and encourage your friends and neighbors to do so as well. If you have relatives living in California, encourage them to vote for Proposition 8. If you can financial support groups like www.ProtectMarriage.com

Change is not necessarily progress

Quote Unquote

"Do not associate with them given to change."

--- Proverbs 24:21 (NKJV)

Barack Hussein Obama says he offers hope and change. High sounding words, but they are merely rhetoric when you take a gander at his flimsy, short record in Congress. 144 working days in the United States Senate as the junior senator from Illinois. This is supposed to qualify someone for the most important office in the world? Change for the sake of change, or worse change not knowing what change will be brought about is not at all wise.

One Cuban Warns about Omaba-Change

Beware (of) Charismatic Men Who Preach 'Change'
.

Friend of A Good Choice . . ., T.D., sent us this recent letter to the editor that appeared in the Richmond (Virginia) Times-Dispatch on-line. It tells of one person’s first hand experience with a dynamic youthful leader’s great deception wrought against an entire nation just ninety miles from our shore. If we don’t learn from history, one man once said, we are doomed to repeat it. Read carefully this heartfelt letter from a Cuban-turned-American.

Editor, Times-Dispatch:

“Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

“On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

“I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

“When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said "Praise the Lord." And when the young leader said, "I will be for change and I'll bring you change," everyone yelled, "Viva Fidel!"

“But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?

“Would we?”

Manuel Alvarez Jr. Sandy Hook.

People of America, please take Mr. Alvarez’s letter to heart. Let it be a warning to you regarding another up-and-coming Fidel Castro, Barack Hussein Obama! Indeed, what exactly is the change that the inexperienced, junior senator from Illinois talks about? Is it the creation of a socialist/Marxist state where the government is god?

Is Obama a savior or an enslaver?

Cartoon by Gary Varvel found on TownHall.com

Fellow blogger, Sam, made we aware that Rush Limbaugh on his show last Friday referred to the following (London) Times Online story, "He ventured forth to bring light to the world," by Gerald Baker. The subject of the article is Senator Barack Hussein Obama. He is being treated as the savior of America and the world. He is nothing more than a two bit hack Chicago politician. Obama press agents are the press. The mainstream media could have easily written the story below, they believe it. To the media Obama walks on water. . . See the YouTube video below that captures it all . . .

The following Biblical-like account of the recent travels of the new messiah, Barack Hussein Obama:

"And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

"The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

"When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”

"In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.

"And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world.

"He travelled fleet of foot and light of camel, with a small retinue that consisted only of his loyal disciples from the tribe of the Media. He ventured first to the land of the Hindu Kush, where the Taleban had harboured the viper of al-Qaeda in their bosom, raining terror on all the world.

"And the Child spake and the tribes of Nato immediately loosed the Caveats that had previously bound them. And in the great battle that ensued the forces of the light were triumphant. For as long as the Child stood with his arms raised aloft, the enemy suffered great blows and the threat of terror was no more.

"From there he went forth to Mesopotamia where he was received by the great ruler al-Maliki, and al-Maliki spake unto him and blessed his Sixteen Month Troop Withdrawal Plan even as the imperial warrior Petraeus tried to destroy it. . ."

He is an empty suit. America, beware of false prophets and silver-tongued politicos. Be very wary of Barack Obama.

The Creation Museum Inside & Out

We visited the Creation Museum this weekend. The photo shows one of the sculptured dinosaurs on display inside. The lily, pictured below, is on display outside in the museum's botanical garden.
.
The Creation Museum is located in Petersburg, Kentucky just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio. The museum has been opened about a year and a half. They had 400,000 visitors in their first year and over 4,000 visitors a week ago Saturday.
.
The museum not only has a variety of displays, but endless looping audio-visual presentations that enhance the physical displays. There is a Walk Through the Garden of Eden, and a Special Affects theater. A well stocked bookstore is centrally located. We happened to take in an hour long lecture by a human biologist who's lecture answered the question, "Is Creation Relevant in Today's World?"
.
A pond graces the grounds of the Creation Museum. A variety of God's creation beautify the botanical garden across the pond that sits in front of the museum's entrance.
.
The Creation Museum tells the Biblical story of the origin and history of life and man on earth. This stands in stark contrast to the secular humanistic account found in most of this nation's natural history museums. Unafraid to share the story of evolution as purported by the secular scientists and academics in many of the displays the two accounts are laid out side-by-side for the visitor to consider.
.
The contrast of the explanation of the beginning of life could be summarized in what each worldview considers the age of the earth. Biblical creation considers the age of the earth to be six thousand years, while secular evolution considers the earth's age to be billions and billions of years old. Ultimately it comes down to faith. Faith in God and the Bible versus faith in man and fantastical, unproven evolution. One is right and the other is wrong. Based on the evidence I saw on Saturday, Biblical creationism takes less faith than secular evolution as an explanation for the origin of man.
.
The Creation Museum is a family-friendly vacation destination or get-away excursion. There is even a petting zoo for the kids. The museum sits at the intersection of education and amusement. I recommend an annual trip to every American and visitor to America, especially Christians and those who reject the predominate religion found in our government schools and institutions of higher or advanced propaganda. It is the movie Expelled on permanent display.

Shining God’s Light on the Koran re: Abraham

Sam continues his on-going series which contrasts the Judeo-Christian Bible with the Islamic Koran on a variety of topics. He aims the beam of the Biblical laser on the Koran to expose, to reveal what it really says. See his previous articles here.
.

Was Abraham a Muslim?

Abraham is spoken of very highly in both the Koran and Scripture. The question we ponder today is: Was Abraham Muslim?

THE KORANIC ACCOUNT

Say: “God has declared the truth. Follow the faith of Abraham. He was an upright man, no idolater.”(1)

He that chooses a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him and in the world to come he will surely be among the losers. (2)

And who has a nobler religion than he who submits to God, does what is right, and follows the faith of saintly Abraham, whom God chose to be His friend? (3)

Tell of Abraham, who said to Azar, his father: “will you worship idols as your gods? Surely and all your people are in palpable error.” (4)

Thus did We show Abraham the kingdoms of the heavens and the earth, so that he might become a firm believer. (5)

His people argued with him. He said: “Will you argue with me about God, who has given me guidance? I do not fear your idols, unless my Lord so willed. My Lord has knowledge of all things. Will you not be warned? And how should I fear your idols when you yourselves are not afraid of serving idols not sanctioned by God? Which of us is more deserving of salvation? Tell me, if you know the truth. Those that have faith and do not taint their faith with wrongdoing shall surely earn salvation, while they follow the right path.” (6)

They say: “Accept the Jewish or the Christian faith and you shall be rightly guided.” (7)

Say: “By no means! We believe in the faith of Abraham, The upright one. He was no idolater.” (8)

And tell of Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: men of might and vision whom We made pure with the thought of the hereafter. They shall dwell with Us among the righteous whom We have chosen. (9)

COMMENTARY ON THE KORANIC ACCOUNT

The Koran teaches that Christians and Jews will tell Moslems and others to follow their Christianity or Judaism. Muslims are to say that they follow the faith of Abraham. It is implied that the faith of Abraham is Islam because according to the Koran there is no other correct religion. We can see from this that Islam is exclusive from Christianity or Judaism. It is not possible to be a Jew or a Christian and also be a Muslim at the same time. It is like one day when an avowed atheist told me that he became a better Christian after he became an atheist. Of course I was impressed with the contradiction of terms. I am just as impressed that the news media attempts to equate Islam and Christianity. Muslims do this also by telling me they believe in Jesus and that He is spoken of in the Koran.

The Koran says that Abraham was no idolater. This means that Abraham did not believe that Jesus was divine or that Abraham worshiped Jesus. Islam teaches that Jesus is not divine nor is he to be worshiped. Therefore, those who believe that Jesus is divine or worship Him are idolaters.

Abraham is said to have discussed idolatry with those who lived around him. He told them “who is more deserving of salvation.” This shows he considered salvation something to be worked toward and obtained based on one’s meritorious service. Merit means to serve for hire. (10)

The Koran claims this to be a noble religion, submit to God, do what is right, and follow the faith of Abraham. God chose Abraham to be His friend. Perhaps God will choose you also to be His friend. The question is what does it mean to submit to God? Submission is to give control of oneself to another. In being submissive to the god of Islam there is one thing among many one must do. It is to not believe that Jesus is God or to worship Jesus. What is the right thing to do? One of the right things to do is to make war against those who believe Jesus is God and worship Him (11). The faith of Abraham involves working for whatever goodness the god of Islam approves.

According to the Koran, Abraham leaves open the possibility of worshiping idols as long as they are sanctioned by the god of the Koran. It is written that he said: “…you yourselves are not afraid of serving idols not sanctioned by God?” So, if they are sanctioned by the god of the Koran it is possible to worship the idol. This knowledge will be handy when it comes time to worship the image of the beast.

THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNT

And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to yourself. And Abram said to the King of Sodom, I have lifted up mine hand unto the Lord. The most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is yours, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich: Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me. Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion. (12)

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram: in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am your shield, and your exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord God, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me you have given no seed: and, lo, one born in my household is my heir. And, behold , the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be your heir; but he that shall come forth out of your own bowels shall be your heir. And He brought him forth abroad, and said, tell the stars, if you be able to number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and He counted it to him for righteousness. (13)

But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. (14)

COMMENTARY ON THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNT

Abram went out to do battle with the kings that had defeated Sodom and refused to take for himself any of the spoil of war even though he was entitled to it. He wanted to receive his blessing from God and not some wicked king who could then brag that he had made Abram rich. He was certainly not covetous. He did serve God out of love for God.

Abram believed in God. This is what was counted as righteousness for Abram.

God said of Abraham: “My friend.”

COMPARING & CONTRASTING THE KORAN WITH SCRIPTURE

In the Koran Abraham is chosen to be the friend of God. In Scripture God says of Abraham, “My friend.”

In the Koran Abraham earns his salvation by believing in the god of Islam, which includes not believing Jesus is divine, and doing good works acceptable to the god of the Koran. In Scripture Abraham is considered righteous by believing in God.

In the Koran Abraham would worship only idols sanctioned by the god of the Koran. In scripture no comment is made concerning idols with Abraham.

In the Koran Abraham is shown the kingdoms of heaven and earth in order to become a firm believer. In Scripture Abraham is shown the heavens and asked if he can count the stars. God tells him his descendants will be just as numerous as the stars though he be childless. Abraham believes in God and this is counted for righteousness for himself.

CONCLUSION

In the Koran one earns their salvation and in Scripture one does not earn salvation. You must choose which one you believe to be correct. I believe Scripture to be correct and therefore Abraham was not a Muslim.

The ACLU: The Faith Exterminators

The ACLU is the "Orkin Man" of Marxist socialist societal re-engineering. One of the prime goals of the ACLU is "To Help Exterminate Religion From Your Society."

The ACLU: Setting the Guilty Free

John Adams (2008)

“Well, posterity, you will never know how much it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.” - - - John Adams

These are the closing sentences of the 7-part HBO TV miniseries on the life of John Adams. The second President's words are very relevant for our times. We are the posterity to whom he was referring. I am afraid we have not made too good use of freedom. Freedom with no corresponding responsibility seems to be the mantra of our day.
.
The miniseries was based on the book by the same name written by David McCullough. It gives a peak into the live and times of the second President of the United States.

The miniseries goes into the relationship between John and his wife Abigail, as well as the relationship between Thomas Jefferson the Adams. You could say those relationship were woven through the series.

I don’t know how historically accurate McCullough’s book or this series was, but I think there is at least hints of truth in it. There were divisions between parties even as early as the 1780s. Big government was a concern. Having a strong military was a concern.

The movie gives a glimpse at the private life of Adams and his children. Two of his children died in early adulthood and the third also followed in his father’s footsteps becoming President of the United States. Adams lived long enough to see his son John Quincy Adams become president. His father was extremely proud.

There is a lot of good acting. Excellent costumes and set design. I think it captured the times very well.

RATING

**** ½ of *****. It should win an Emmy Award or two as it has been nominated. I would recommend this miniseries. It is quality entertainment with an education factor built into it. It is very worthwhile; it provides seven plus hours of excellent entertainment.

I paid just under $40 for the three DVD box. However, it has some nice features like on screen factoids about various points of interest related to President Adams or to some interesting item seen on screen. It is worth purchasing, or at least renting. It is worth seeing more than once.

Mainstream Media Bias,

Ya Think?
Cartoon by Lisa Benson found on TownHall.com on 7/23/08

PBS Deserves to be De-funded Now

America's Darker Side
.
Like its extreme liberal ally, the incidious Planned (really, Preventing) Parenthood Federation of America, Public Broadcasting receives a huge amount of money from America’s taxpayers. Both receive over $300 million dollars of subsidies EACH to carry on, at best, questionable activities.

Planned Parenthood, of course, makes its living butchering babies and wounding women. PPFA is a billion dollar business calling itself misleadingly, a health enterprise. Rightfully it should be called a cold blooded killing machine or hit squad. Shrewdly, PPFA disguises its so-called “family planning” wing of its business to subsidize its killing wing. Congress should stop all funding of this heinous outfit.

Likewise, the Public Broadcasting Service is funded significantly by the taxpayer and to a far lesser degree
by the public through fund-raising. They, too, lean very heavily to the left politically. They have outlived their usefulness, to be practical. During the 50s and 60s when there were only 3 broadcasters, CBS, NBC, ABC, they may have served a need, offering educational and cultural fare that the major networks did not provide. Today there is a plethora of channels offering a great variety of educational and cultural offeringS. I think of the History Channel and the Discovery Channel, among others. There is no need to fund PBS any longer. It should be supported by their viewers exclusively. They should be driven by the market.

What really brought taxpayer support for PBS was one of their upcoming series, The Bible's Buried Secrets, which airs beginning November 18th. Coincidentally, just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. In essence, the series trashes the Bible and those that believe in its inerrancy.

Can you imagine the outcry if PBS tried to criticize the Islamic Koran?

Ed Thomas of OneNewsNow.com reported today that some of the heretical pronouncements of the producers of The Bible’s Buried Secrets are a belief “that the Bible -- especially the Old Testament -- was written by up to 100 authors; that it was never meant to be literal; that the story of Abraham and Sarah likely was not a real story, but simply an allegory.”

This is just another evidence of the deliberate attack on God, Jesus Christ, and Christianity by elements of the culture bent on inculcating secular humanism as the only acceptable worldview or religion in 21st century America.

Creationist Apologetics, part 4

I started a series of post on creationist apologetics in response to Scientific American’s 15 Answer’s to Creationist Nonsense. I have had other important issues to write about in recent weeks, but I continue the series here. SA responses to the orange statements are in blue, and my retorts to this are in black.

Evolution is unscientific, because it is not testable or falsifiable. It makes claims about events that were not observed and can never be re-created.

This blanket dismissal of evolution ignores important distinctions that divide the field into at least two broad areas: microevolution and macroevolution. Microevolution looks at changes within species over time--changes that may be preludes to speciation, the origin of new species. Macroevolution studies how taxonomic groups above the level of species change. Its evidence draws frequently from the fossil record and DNA comparisons to reconstruct how various organisms may be related.
These days even most creationists acknowledge that microevolution has been upheld by tests in the laboratory (as in studies of cells, plants and fruit flies) and in the field (as in Grant's studies of evolving beak shapes among Galapagos finches). Natural selection and other mechanisms--such as chromosomal changes, symbiosis and hybridization--can drive profound changes in populations over time.

The historical nature of macroevolutionary study involves inference from fossils and DNA rather than direct observation. Yet in the historical sciences (which include astronomy, geology and archaeology, as well as evolutionary biology), hypotheses can still be tested by checking whether they accord with physical evidence and whether they lead to verifiable predictions about future discoveries. For instance, evolution implies that between the earliest-known ancestors of humans (roughly five million years old) and the appearance of anatomically modern humans (about 100,000 years ago), one should find a succession of hominid creatures with features progressively less apelike and more modern, which is indeed what the fossil record shows. But one should not--and does not--find modern human fossils embedded in strata from the Jurassic period (144 million years ago). Evolutionary biology routinely makes predictions far more refined and precise than this, and researchers test them constantly.
Evolution could be disproved in other ways, too. If we could document the spontaneous generation of just one complex life-form from inanimate matter, then at least a few creatures seen in the fossil record might have originated this way. If superintelligent aliens appeared and claimed credit for creating life on earth (or even particular species), the purely evolutionary explanation would be cast in doubt. But no one has yet produced such evidence.

It should be noted that the idea of falsifiability as the defining characteristic of science originated with philosopher Karl Popper in the 1930s. More recent elaborations on his thinking have expanded the narrowest interpretation of his principle precisely because it would eliminate too many branches of clearly scientific endeavor.

The evolutionists are the ones who fail to make the distinction between microevolution and macroevolution. Whenever a creationist asks for proof that evolution is happening today, they always point to things like the Galapagos finches or peppered moths. These examples do not contradict Scripture. Whenever they are asked why you can’t see macroevolution happening today, they say it is a slow process. But “punctuated equilibrium” is invoked as a counter-argument against the lack of fossil evidence. (In other words, macroevolution happens just fast enough that real fossil evidence is very hard to find, but just slow enough that you can’t quantify contemporary macroevolutionary progress. How convenient for the evolutionist!) I have already exposed the hoax of the alleged missing links between ape and man.

As far as not finding modern human fossils in certain layers goes, this is an even bigger hoax. There is no such thing as the Geologic Column. Nowhere can you find even half of its layers in one place! If a “modern” human fossil were found in the Jurassic layer, the evolutionists could simply reclassify it as a more recent layer (so much for the falsification principle). It is not unreasonable to assume that dinosaurs could have spread out faster in the beginning and lived for many years in places where there were no humans. Evolutionists ignore evidences that humans and dinosaurs were contemporary such as cave drawings, human artifacts found with dinosaur bones, and footprints of man and dinosaurs together. There are many other examples of where fossils are out of place and contradict the evolutionary model.

Nobody has ever seen a new species evolve.

Speciation is probably fairly rare and in many cases might take centuries. Furthermore, recognizing a new species during a formative stage can be difficult, because biologists sometimes disagree about how best to define a species. The most widely used definition, Mayr's Biological Species Concept, recognizes a species as a distinct community of reproductively isolated populations--sets of organisms that normally do not or cannot breed outside their community. In practice, this standard can be difficult to apply to organisms isolated by distance or terrain or to plants (and, of course, fossils do not breed). Biologists therefore usually use organisms' physical and behavioral traits as clues to their species membership.
Nevertheless, the scientific literature does contain reports of apparent speciation events in plants, insects and worms. In most of these experiments, researchers subjected organisms to various types of selection--for anatomical differences, mating behaviors, habitat preferences and other traits--and found that they had created populations of organisms that did not breed with outsiders. For example, William R. Rice of the University of New Mexico and George W. Salt of the University of California at Davis demonstrated that if they sorted a group of fruit flies by their preference for certain environments and bred those flies separately over 35 generations, the resulting flies would refuse to breed with those from a very different environment.

Yes, speciation does exist, but this does not contradict Scripture because a “Genesis kind” is not necessarily the same thing as a species (which, as they point out, even the establishment can’t agree on the exact definition). All of this is microevolution which does not prove that macroevolution (such as apes to man) takes place.

If macroevolution really took place and is continuing as it always has been, then you should be able see it happening. I claim that it can’t just be a gradual process. Evolutionists claim that a certain chromosome pair fused together somewhere along the line in the evolution of man from apes. A change in chromosome pair number can’t just be a gradual process—it has to happen in one generation. Did the first ape creature that had 23 chromosome pairs find another ape that also had a mutation which was similar enough that an offspring could be produced? Or did it have to happen several times before two with the same (chromosome pair-changing) mutation just happened to become mates? How many times did two with just the right (chromosome pair-changing) mutation mate and produce offspring which died out because the mutation was unfavorable, caused sterility, or just by chance?

There are mutations which can change chromosome number, such as a missing or additional sex chromosome, or other trisomies. But I have never heard of a natural mutation which actually changed the chromosome pair number. If evolutionary mutations occur completely randomly, then one would expect that the more organisms of a particular type exist, the greater the likelihood that such a mutation would be observed in that type of organism. There are 6.7 billion human beings on earth today. Perhaps evolutionary biologists should invest in a matchmaking service which can match people by chromosome pair number. Come on, put your money where your mouth is if you really think it’s true!

"I'm Lovin' It"

Taking Back the Rainbow

Protesters object to McDonald's homosexual advocacy at a local McDonald's franchise July 22, 2008, in Citrus Heights, Calif.

I'm lovin' it: The McDonald's boycott, the McDonald's protest, that is! WorldNetDaily.com had an excellent article today. See past articles written here about this once family-oriented family-friendly restaurant.

The Engineered Energy Crisis

The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch runs a regular feature in their newspaper identifying an important issue to the local community and asking the vote of the readers on that issue along with comments. Occasionally I will respond and comment on the issue raised, as I did to yesterday’s topic.

The Hot Issue: Do you think oil companies are to blame for the high price of gasoline?

My Response: No. Deserving most of the blame is the Congress. Primarily it is the Democrats in Congress who have foolishly caved to their radical environmentalist backers, to whom they seem greatly indebted.

The Democrats have blocked oil drilling, nuclear energy development, building new refineries, on every front they have constructed impossible barriers to all domestic energy development. It almost seems like they are working against America. They act as domestic terrorists.

South Dakota Win for Life

Hear Their Cry

Good News from South Dakota

The following information was sent by the South Dakota Pro-Life group,
www.VoteYESforLife.com.

"It appears to us (www.VoteYesForLife.com) that abortions were suspended at the Sioux Falls (South Dakota) Planned Parenthood today (Monday 7/21/08). It also appears that they are in disarray as decisions are being made on how to abide by the Informed Consent Law. It is now more important than ever that we pass Measure 11 and halt future abortions in South Dakota. When the opposition reorganizes, they are likely to be stronger than ever. We have to be ready when they resume the business of aborting babies and harming women."

S.D.’S INFORMED CONSENT LAW

Planned Parenthood’s application to enjoin the Informed Consent Statute following the Alpha Center and South Dakota ’s victory in the US Court of Appeals has FAILED!!! Planned Parenthood must now comply with all of the provisions of the Informed Consent Statute. The matter will be sent down to trial after January 1st. The US Court of Appeals ruled the required disclosure that an abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being is accurate and must be told to a woman seeking an abortion. According to Attorney General Larry Long, SD ’s informed consent law will go into effect as early as Saturday, July 19, 2008. Leslee Unruh stated, “In my 24 years of being involved in the pro-life movement, this is the greatest victory. Thank you to the South Dakota legislators, Governor and legal team.””

Provisions of the Informed Consent Statue are listed below.

(1) A statement in writing providing the following information:
(a) The name of the physician who will perform the abortion;
(b) That the abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being;
(c) That the pregnant woman has an existing relationship with that unborn human being and that the relationship enjoys protection under the United States Constitution and under the laws of South Dakota;
(d) That by having an abortion, her existing relationship and her existing constitutional rights with regards to that relationship will be terminated;
(e) A description of all known medical risks of the procedure and statistically significant risk factors to which the pregnant woman would be subjected, including:
(i) Depression and related psychological distress;
(ii) Increased risk of suicide ideation and suicide;

(2) A statement by telephone or in person, by the physician who is to perform the abortion, or by the referring physician, or by an agent of both, at least twenty-four hours before the abortion, providing the following information:
(a) That medical assistance benefits may be available for prenatal care, childbirth, and neonatal care;
(b) That the father of the unborn child is legally responsible to provide financial support for her child following birth, and that this legal obligation of the father exists in all instances, even in instances in which the father has offered to pay for the abortion.

Congress Coasting on Empty

Extreme Environmentalism

"The Dipstick" cartoon by Michael Ramirez found on TownHall.com 7/21/08

.
Congress is solely responsible for the lack of domestic oil. The Democrats in Congress and many moderate-to-liberal Republicans have bought the Algore types' Koolaid laced with lies, money, political favors, and other mind altering drugs. As stated in the previous article this foolishness must stop. We need to clean out the House and Senate this November and bring in people willing to close the border, develop domestic energy resources in the short-term and long-term and restore balance and sanity in our judicial system among other things.
.
Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership have essentially sat on their hands the past two years wanting President Bush and the Republicans to take the blame for the gas crisis and everything else that went wrong. Well, Madame Speaker & her comrades are as much or more to blame for soaring gas prices than is the President. He is not without blame. I heard that gas prices increased 74% since Nancy Pelosi nudged her way into the speaker-ship. She has flat out done nothing to even attempt to solve the problem. She plays politics, that is all. We need statesmen in office not hack politicians. Maybe it will take $5.00/gallon gas to wake up the sleeping American giant . . .

Drill Here, Drill Now, Save Money!

The gas crisis borders on the same type of affect that passage of the Amnesty bill would have had on this nation. Now on center stage is the gas crisis, which threatens to cripple our economy because our nation’s leaders have failed to move America toward energy independence. Furthermore it threatens our natural security. We could be held captive by the same nations that harbor, support and encourage Islamic terrorist activity.

The first vital step to solve this energy crisis is to expand our domestic capacity. The President has finally lifted the Executive Order banning additional offshore oil drilling, but Congress continues to drag its feet.

www.Grassfire.org has launched this National Petition demanding that Congress lift the legislative and funding ban on Offshore Oil Drilling BEFORE the August recess. In other words, no summer holiday this year for Congress, unless the offshore drilling ban is removed!”

Congress’ month-long summer recess is scheduled to begin August 9. Join tens of thousands of citizens who are demanding action by Congress BEFORE they break for summer. In fact, Grassfire is asking members of Congress to PLEDGE to stay in session this summer until the life on offshore drilling ban is passed. its feet.

With single digit approval ratings you would think that Congress would want to do something to get back the trust of the people. But no, the stubborn Democratic leadership beholden to the radical environmentalists have apparently sold their souls and are also apparently willing to sell out their country to these Marxist ideologues.

TAKE ACTION

The issue of expanding domestic production including:

· Removal of ANWR ban
· Remove barriers Oil and Shale exploration & production
· Expand exploration & production of natural gas resources
· Dramatically expand domestic nuclear energy capacity
· Expand our domestic refining capacity

must be dealt with now and again on November 4th. Let’s take names (Starting with Nancy "I'm the most powerful woman in the world" Pelosi) of those all those who oppose domestic energy development in Congress and vote them out of office. Also, please sign the petition and call, email write your US congressman and your US senator to do something about energy now and for the long-term.

Mrs. Michelle “Out-of-Touch” Obama

$600 Earrings, $10,000 Piano Lessons, etc.

Michelle Obama recently commented about President Bush’s economic stimulus checks.

"You're getting $600 - what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month… Barack's approach is that the short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings."

Who, but a rich elitist, is going to run out and buy an expensive pair of earrings with the $600 stimulus check? Rich folk like the Obamas weren't even eligible for the check.

Exposing Liberal Lies addressed Mrs. Obama’s earring comment, “Michelle Obama, Barack’s “bitter half,” continues to spout off nonsense that could hinder her husband’s political future in his effort to take the White House.” This comment follows her infamous statement about how proud she is of America, “for the first time,” now that her husband did so well in the primaries.

In February Bryon York wrote in a National Review article, “Michelle's struggles” about her encounter with a group of six women in economically strapped Zanesville, Ohio. Here is a portion of his article:

“. . . Michelle Obama is sitting with a group of six women around a table in the basement playroom of the Zanesville Day Nursery, here in economically troubled central Ohio. Her talk is of struggle — her own struggle, the women’s struggles, the struggles of women across the country. There are struggles over money, over kids, over jobs, over husbands and ex-husbands. And perhaps most of all, there is the struggle inside.”

“It’s a constant sense of guilt,” Obama, dressed simply in a blue sweater with a triple strand of pearls, tells the women of her own dilemma as a working mother. “It’s guilt, feeling guilty all the time.”

"So how does she keep it all together? “I’m fine, because I have a strong informal support network,” Obama says. “I have a mother who lives five minutes from me. I don’t know what I would do, even if we weren’t running, I don’t know what I would do as a professional without having that kind of support system. So that keeps me sane.”

"But not everyone has a close relative living nearby. And not everyone can afford to keep it all together, especially here in Muskingum County, where, according to the census, the median household income in 2004 was $37,192, below both the Ohio and national average. Out of that, there’s the mortgage. And child care. Health care. Education. Lessons. “I know we’re spending — I added it up for the first time — we spend between the two kids, on extracurriculars outside the classroom, we’re spending about $10,000 a year on piano and dance and sports supplements and so on and so forth,” Mrs. Obama tells the women. “And summer programs. That’s the other huge cost. Barack is saying, ‘Whyyyyyy are we spending that?’ And I’m saying, ‘Do you know what summer camp costs? . . .”
.
These incidents are blatant signs that the two Obamas are out-of-touch elitists who are so self-absorbed and only want to enrich themselves and to control the lives and wealth of others. It seems to me that Mrs. Obama is as big a help to her husband in his campaign as Mr. Clinton was to his wife’s campaign for the Democratic nomination. Let’s hope so!

Who Am I

Today we showcase a popular God-honoring song, seeing that after all it is His day, Sunday!

The Christian band, Casting Crowns, is featured on the YouTube video below...It shows the Christ-honoring talent of Christian artists, both the singers and those doing the pantomime.

Who Am I

by Casting Crowns
album: Casting Crowns (2003)

Who am I?
that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart.
.
Not because of who I am.
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done.
But because of who You are.
.
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
A vapor in the wind,
Still You hear me when I'm calling ,
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling,
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours.
I am Yours.
.
Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain.
And calm the storm in me.
Not because of who I am.
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done.
But because of who You are.
.
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling.
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours.
I am Yours.
.
Not because of who I am.
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done.
But because of who You are.
.
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading.
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling,
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours.
I am Yours.
.
Whom shall I fear?
Whom shall I fear?
'Cuz I am Yours.
I am Yours.
