California's Proposition 8 - Vote YES

"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California."

- Proposition 8

As often as I can I try to listen to the insightful American Family Association’s radio program AFA Report with Don Wildmon. On Tuesday part of the discussion involved the important ballot issue coming up in November in California. The wildly activist California Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage was legal effect in June, despite the fact that the majority of Californians several years ago voted by over 60% voted to protect the traditional definition of marriage.

The homosexual lobby, their advocates and supporters have incessantly pushed their agenda to the point now that we are on the brink of seeing the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Don Wildmon made the following observations on his radio show yesterday:

“California is a big dam holding back the flood waters, If the dam breaks, it floods the whole country.”

“If this (Proposition 8) fails in California, then the marriage laws that have been put on the books in state constitutions (27 states) . . . those are gone. . . and whether you like it or not homosexual“marriage” is going to be accepted from now on.

". . . Okay, we (Christian Founders and people) built this society. We came out of the Judeo-Christian perspective. We worked hard. Democracy could bloom with Judeo-Christian values. There are those who are bound and determined that they are going to tear all that down . . .

“Normally I don’t say things like this, I keep them to myself, because you can always be wrong. But, I am convinced that the outcome in California on Proposition 8 will influence America more than the presidential election . . . The most important election this year is in California with Proposition 8.
If Proposition 8 is defeated . . . in California, I think basically the culture war is over and we (Christians & America) have lost . . . and Western Civilization, which came out of the mind of Christ is on its way to expire and we don’t know what it will be replaced with . . . if (Christianity) is not made illegal, there certainly will be persecution and prosecution, maybe not physically, but financially and in other ways . . . (We) will be discriminated against . . .”

The radical homosexual lobby and their leftist friends and supporters are pulling out all the stops on this one. They want to destroy traditional one-man, one-woman marriage. Take the radical elite on all levels of government in the state of California; the state’s Governor, the California Supreme Court, and California’s Congress continually defy the will of the majority of its citizens. They intend to ram same-sex marriage one way or another down the throats of the people of California and eventually on all of America.California is the place and the time to take a stand. See what lengths the homosexual activists and the destroyers of the sanctity of one-man, one-woman marriage will go to . . .

BALLOT PROPOSITION WORDING CHANGE

The original Proposition 8 language: Amends the California Constitution to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

The rewording: Changes California Constitution to eliminate (the) right of same-sex couples to marry. Provides that only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

Fiscal Impact: Over the next few years, potential revenue loss, mainly sales taxes, totaling in the several tens of millions of dollars, to state and local governments. In the long run, likely little fiscal impact to state and local governments.

PROPOSITION PROPONENTS TO SUE OVER POLITICAL BALLOT LANGUAGE TINKERING

The LA Times reports: “Supporters of Proposition 8, the proposed state constitutional amendment that would ban [same-sex] marriage, said they would file suit today to block a change made by California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown to the language of the measure’s ballot title and summary.”

Isn’t Jerry Brown the former governor of California who himself is an extreme leftist? He has solidly aligned with the forces promoting same-sex marriage in defiance against the will of the majority of Californians. He apparently feels that he is above the law, he knows better than the people, and he intends to do all he can to defeat the ballot initiative.

The same-sex marriage advocates, who are desirous of destroying the sacredness and uniqueness of traditional one-man, one-woman marriage, even tried to prevent Proposition 8 from even appearing on the ballot despite overwhelming number of required signatures and meeting every deadline. They followed in the footsteps of the devious California Supreme Court, who decided to grant marriage licenses to same-sex “couples” despite request from many state attorney generals who requested that they stay the decision until after the ballot initiative was brought to the people in November. But no, they wickedly wantonly did what THEY wanted to do. This whole issue is tyranny of the few over the many. It is the blatant misuse of power.

TAKE ACTION

If you live in California vote for Proposition 8 and encourage your friends and neighbors to do so as well. If you have relatives living in California, encourage them to vote for Proposition 8. If you can financial support groups like www.ProtectMarriage.com

I just discovered on the web the following:

Attorney General Jerry Brownnose forgets that the Almighty, on whose planet Jerry is only a squatter, has rights also - and when the Almighty decides to exercise His rights, Jerry will be left with only his own funeral rites! Jerry can actually be found in a Google item entitled "God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up" (but not with his actual name). By helping to fulfill the endtime prediction brought out in the same Google item, Jerry is making the Bible even more believable!

  2. STOP Hate - NO on 8!

The U.S. Constitution is not synonymous with the Bible. Stop trying to create a theocracy - denying people life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is unAmerican.

Stand up for love. Mutual, consensual, adult, beautiful love.

Thanks for your comment, though I vehemently disagree with it.

Homosexuality, for one thing, is immoral, for another it is unnatural, for another it is unhealthy. Allowing same-sex marriage will surely lead to this nations downfall. That is why
California's Proposition 8 is so important.

    Vote YES on Proposition Eight!!!

    YES on Proposition 8!!!

Denying people life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Are you crazy! Marriage is between a man and woman alone. Whoever came up with the idea that being homosexual is genetic and can't be prevented is a liar and a deceiver. Maybe if you had validated sources you'd find that that is incorrect. If this doesn't pass, the so called " normality" of same-sex marriage will be taught in our schools...SICK!!! I pray it passes with flying colors because the Almighty is behind it and many many believers of many faiths.

If you are so interested in protecting marriage, why do you not work against the extremely high divorce rate (58 percent) in our country, which at last check, was among straight people. Plus, over half of African-American babies in our country are born out of wedlock. if you are so interested in "preserving" marriage, why are you trying to break up happily married, gay and lesbian couples, and not working against the real threats to "family values" in this country? You are on the wrong side of history; you would have been opposing interracial marriages a few decades ago.

It is not a matter of either supporting Prop 8 or reducing the incidence of divorce - both issues can be worked on simultaneously.

We need to overturn no-fault divorce for starters. Mandate pre-marital training before a marriage license is issued. Bring back virtue and morality into the government schools, teach children about the proper roles of man and woman and children . . . the natural family . . . the rights and responsibilities of marriage . . . the value of abstinence sex education . . .

I agree divorce is a major problem. Things would only go from bad to worse if Proposition 8 is not passed.

    Vote Yes on Proposition 8.

    Vote YEs on Proposition 8.

    Liar.

"the majority of Californians several years ago voted by over 60% voted to protect the traditional definition of marriage."

The population of California, in 2000 when the Knight Initiative (Proposition 22) was passed was about 33.8 million. (According to the U.S. Census.)

The number of people voting that year was about 7.51 million. The number of "Yes" votes was 4.61 million (vs. 2.9 million "No" votes.)

The percentage of Californians voting YES on Proposition 22 was about 13% of the total population. Just over 1 in 10 people.

That is NOT a "majority of Californians".

And ever if it were, a majority of anybody should NEVER decide the civil or marriage rights of a minority. Laws forbidding interracial marriage were never voted on to be struck down. Why? Because a "majority" were against interracial marriages. They had to slowly be fought through the court systems until it reached the Supreme Court. But hey, I'll bet you're against "negros" marrying "whites" too huh?

If people wanted to "protect marriage" they would be working to eliminate divorce. Not working to try and keep people out of the "special club" or marriage. Newt Gingrich and John McCain might have a few words to say if divorce were done away with.

If you are against same-sex marriage, then don't join a church that allows it. Don't marry someone who is the same sex as you.

Enjoy your Religious Freedom to live your life as you wish and marry who you choose.

BUT to force your religious beliefs on others who don't share them, or even believe that God approves of same-sex marriage is against the United States Constitution and is wrong. Just remember that Religious Freedom is a two-edged sword. Just as you are free to worship as you wish, so should others even if they don't believe the same as you.

Proposition 8 enshrines hatred and bigotry into the California Constitution. It also enacts into law YOUR religious views, which are counter to MY religious views. Go worship as you wish, and leave others to do the same.

By allowing same sex marriage into our society is also forcing those who are against it. Kids will be forced to accept that marry your own sex is a normal thing in life, which is wrong to us. This is not only for Christians. Why do we force us to change something thats been over thousands of years in history?

    Yes on 8!!

  13. i am voting YES on 8, and I appreciate your bravery on posting and writing an entry about this. I know that is hard to take some of these comments, but I give you kudos for standing up for what YOU believe in. I think if people are so gun-ho about voting no, then they should-- we aren't stopping them, and we're not hating them for THEIR choice to vote no.

I believe in preserving marriage and standing up for my beliefs and standards regarding this issue, so I AM definitely voting YES ON 8!

Marriage is between a man and a woman, homosexuality is an aberation, same sex unions shall never be labelled a marriage as it flies in the face of common sense and rational thinking. I do not support the gay lifestyle and I don't subscribe to the notion of the behavior being one that is genetically based. It has been indulged and cater to, to such an extent as to have been legitmized in some peoples minds. The voters of California and if this were to be a national vote I'm sure the majority of the country would more than over whelmingly have voted yes on Proposition 8 as well.

Courts would do well to remember that if the country holds to an issue then they can not legislate otherwise.
