Righting 1st amenCoach Dave Daubenmire in his Pass the Salt June 2008 Newsletter had a few things to say about the John Freshwater case. His thoughts echoed some of the same thing that I wrote in an earlier post.
Daubenmire regards what the Mount Vernon School Board has done to John Freshwater as a character assassination. Daubenmire contends that the School Board does know Mr. Freshwater very well including his upright character, yet chose to “muddy his name.” Here are a number of responses that Mr. Daubenmire gives to questions asked of him about this case.
>>> John Freshwater did not “brand” any student. The incident was a science experiment that he had done for 21 years on over 300 students without incident. The school investigated the charges in December and chose not to discipline him. These old charges resurfaced as part of the “investigation.” Although pictures were released showing the “crosses,” no evidence has been presented showing whose arm was pictured, when it was taken, and if it had been manipulated. To date Mr. Freshwater has had no opportunity to refute the charges.
>>> He did “teach the controversy” regarding the holes in the theory of evolution. This previously was investigated in 2003, five years ago. At the time he was teaching well within the State Standards and was investigated at that time.
>>> He has not been fired. The Board voted to begin the process of firing him, but is currently under appeal. The Board voted to move forward with the firing without having heard his side of the story. This story is far from over.
>>> Please understand, this is about the PURGING OF CHRISTIANITY FROM OUR SCHOOLS. John Freshwater has been found guilty of acting like a Christian. This is going on all across America and it is against this type of tyranny . . . we all must fight against.
