26 - Welcome To A Good Choice Weblog!

Blogs are A Good Choice. They are integral to the new media. The new media is often more fair, balanced and truthful than ABC, NPR, CBS, CNN, NBC et al . . .

As a Democratic (a different kind of Democrat) Candidate for United States Senate I feel it is important that I begin to share my thoughts, to expand on and clarify my positions on the issues, to ask questions and to offer responses to questions, to give voters an opportunity to know the person who will represent you for the next six years, and to begin to interact with people of who may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so in person.

You can view some of my basic thoughts and positions on many of the issues by visiting my campaign website, which is www.keiserforussenate.com and I suggest that you go there often and return as often as you can.

It is, after all, all about making A Good Choice . . .

There are only 26 days remaining until Ohio Voters can make A Good Choice on Tuesday, May 2nd in the Democratic Primary Election!

  1. First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Keiser for running this campaign and setting up this blog site. America desperately needs candidates like him. I like how he uses his campaign also as an evangelistic outreach.

I agree with him on most issues, but there is some difference of opinion between us on some issues.

Concerning the war in Iraq, I believe that our armed forces should only concentrate on apprehending any who are now in Iraq who committed serious crimes against Americans. (I believe that these people came to Iraq after the war started.) Once this is accomplished, we should immediately withdraw. We should never have gone to war with Iraq in the first place.

I believe that God gives each nation its sovereignty, even nations that have evil governments. It is also God who takes away a nation’s sovereignty. It is up to the people living in a nation to establish their own government and defend themselves against nations or entities that would violate their sovereignty. It is not up to any nation or alliance of nations to police the world. America has the right to fight against terrorism, but only in defense of its sovereignty. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Iraq did anything to violate our sovereignty. The 911 commission and Colin Powell have said they do not know of any connection between the Saddam Hussein Iraqi government and the Al Qaeda terrorists. Powell admitted that some things that he presented to the U.N. were inaccurate.

It doesn’t matter whether or not Iraq had WMDs. Sovereign nations have the right to have whatever means of defense that they think is necessary (even wicked nations). We have to trust God that he will cut down the wicked nations in the end. It doesn’t matter whether or not Iraq was in violation of some U.N. resolution. Mr. Keiser and I would agree (I think) that the U.N. is an evil organization and the last thing the U.S. should do is enforce its resolutions. I agree with Mr. Keiser that the United States should withdraw its membership from the U.N. and make them relocate their headquarters outside the U.S.

I realize that there was a time in Biblical history when God called upon the Israelites to attack and conquer the wicked nations that occupied the land of Palestine before them. There are differences, however, between that situation and the present one. First of all God had promised the land of Canaan to Abraham’s descendents. Second of all, the Canaanites were sacrificing infants, committing institutionalized sexual abominations … etc. Thirdly, the Israelites were not charged with the responsibility of changing the governments of Canaanites, Philistines, etc. but they were to drive them all out (or in some cases kill them). Fourthly, God gave the Israelites direct instructions in the form of revelations through prophets to drive out the Canaanites. I don’t know of any such instructions for us today. I agree with Mr. Keiser’s comments about the cup of God’s wrath getting full. At times, of course, God even used wicked nations to punish nations that were defying God. But who are we to say that another nation’s government must be taken down because it is too evil if God’s cup of wrath for us is almost full? The evils in America (legalized abortion, encouragement of deviant sexual behavior in schools, etc.) make the idea of going to war with Iraq hypocritical. Saddam Hussein was a very brutal dictator, killing millions of his own people, but we have killed 47 million innocent babies. Maybe Saddam Hussein was instrument of God’s wrath on his own people. The Bible says that Ishmael will live in hostility with his brothers. There is nothing we can do to stop this short of evangelism. Maybe God is using us as an instrument of his wrath upon the Muslims, but that doesn’t necessarily make this war a good choice for us.

The war in Afghanistan is justified because of their government’s connection to Al Qaeda. However, I would even be against this war for the following reasons. First of all, I don’t believe that God would be on our side as long as we allow homosexuals in our military. I don’t believe that He would be on our side as long as we have legalized abortions. He won’t let us stop murderers from other countries until we stop our own murderers. Like the war in Iraq, and every other war after World War II, the war in Afghanistan is illegal because Congress never made an official declaration of war.

The best way to keep America safe is to repent of our wicked ways and put our efforts into defending our borders. When we divide our forces into so many different places in the world, it makes us weaker. We would have been better off if the money we had spent in Iraq would have instead been spent on improving missile defense systems, Star Wars technology, building a wall to keep out illegal aliens and terrorists, border patrols, and international intelligence.
