Islam is Fundamentally Flawed

Anonymous commented on yesterday’s article, “I’m struggling to know what is ‘true’.. I was drawn to this site as I want to understand Muslim culture and thinking. I’m compelled by what I’ve learned from a report of a recently published book on the religious prophet Muhammad . . . The news report in the link suggests that the Muslim faith is all based on the visions of an epileptic. How can that be?"

TO ANONYMOUS

Thanks for your comment. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” [Matthew 7:7-8] “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. [Proverbs 9:9] Jesus Christ said that you shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall set you free.

It sounds like you are a seeker. The Judeo-Christian Bible is the ONLY real source of TRUTH. All other “religions” will not bring you into a living, personal relationship with a personal God. The god of Islam is impersonal and cruel. The God of Christianity is personal, loving as well as patient and just.

The only thing epilepsy shows is that the prophet was human. He as a warrior and I am not so sure a warrior could lead in battle as the prophet did in conquering the nations that he did if he was a severe epileptic. Regardless, the visions this prophet had were extra-biblical. The God of the Bible would not have authored or sanctioned some of the things that are attributed to the god of the Koran. Much of the Koran is contradictory to the TRUTH found in the Judeo-Christian Bible and as are the writings of Joseph Smith’s (Mormonism) or Mary Baker Eddy’s (Christian Science). Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism are all false religions. Despite widespread disagreement among both well intentioned, but deceived people, as well as who are totally insincere, there is but one way to God. That way is through Jesus Christ and the tenets of Judeo-Christian TRUTH.

TO MATT

Matt, I appreciate your comments. You wrote, “I don’t think that there is anything in the Qu’ran that says that Jews or Christians should be hated, killed, or mistreated (though they would have fewer rights under Sharia law). . .” I heard Daniel Shayesteh, who I wrote about yesterday, speak again this morning. He spoke at a public meeting near my home. Could it be that whenever the Qu’ran refers to “unbelievers”, “pagans”, “infidels” or “idolaters” it is referring to or including Jews and Christians? I think so. Daniel Shayesteh learned the Koran in Arabic and taught it and the tenets of Islam to radical terrorists types in his younger days as a fundamentalist Islamist leader. In his book, the Difference is the Son, a Study of Islam and Christianity, on pages 59 and 60 he explains and quotes the Qu’ran,

The hatred towards the children o Isaac was revived in Mecca at this time even more intense than before the birth of islam, since Jews and Christians started to reject and ridicule Muhammad’s claims. Muhammad turned his sword against the Jews and Christians, killing many both openly and secretly calling it the battle of God against unbelievers;

Make war upon such of those to whom the scripture have been given as believe not in god, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the trurth, until they pay tribute out of hand, and they be humbled. The Jews say, ‘Ezra (Ozair) is son of God.’ Such the sayings in their mouths! They resemble the saying of infidels of old! God do battle with them. How are they misguided! (Q.9:29-30)

In talking to fellow blogger “Sam” tonight, he said that he had heard recently on the radio that some of the translations of the Koran are sanitized English versions with many of the more controversioal passages removed or changed so as not to appear as radical as they really are. This is not surprising, since one of the main tactics and ways of operating on the part of Islamic teachers is to lie and to deceive as a means for advancing the ultimate end.

One thing that surprised me was that Daniel mentioned that 90% of Iranians today desire freedom and democracy like American. They also like America and wonder why we do not help them.

Matt you also wrote, “I tend to think of the Muslim religion as being like Mormonism or some other such cult (a bit further away from the truth perhaps and the doctrines are very difernt. . ." Not only is Islam much further from the truth it is much more violent than most any other cult or “religion”. Actually, all religions, except true Christianity, are false and inferior.

I wholehearted agree with you though with your closing statement, Matt, when you wrote, “Any false teaching is dangerous. Any human being without the real Jesus Christ has the potential to (do) horrible things.” Islam is most definitely a false, misleading and harmful religion.

  1. The passage you quoted from the Qu'ran 9:29 was what I was talking about when I said that Christians and Jews have fewer rights under Sharia law. The version I have says "...until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission." The Muslim commentator says that this was a tax exacted on them because they were exempt from Muslim Army. The conclusion is that Mohammed is speaking about Jews and Christians who lived among the Muslims. Whether or not the commentator is correct in his interpretation and whether or not Mohammed practiced what he preached is uncertain to me. It seems like Mohammed probably was more aggressive than the version of the Qu'ran that I have implies. A lot of the wording is very vague and I do get the impression that it has been watered down. Some Muslims say that certain passages were only applied to retaliation in a specific instance. Qu'ran 2:62 says, "Those who believe (in the Qu'ran), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians--any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." Other passages, however, indicate that what we would call Christians cannot be saved because of the doctrine of the trinity and substitutionary sacrifice. So one could conclude that their definition of "Christian" is not the same as ours or else the Qu'ran is contradictory on this point.
