Facts for Life

Conservative Christians and other Pro- Lifers should be lovingly informing women of the alternatives to abortions as well as informing them of the dire affects of abortion, which often are either glossed over by the abortionist purveyors such as Planned Parenthood or intentionally withheld from woman. Several examples of information that is withheld are the increased risk of breast cancer and the terrible regret some women experience for the remainder of their lives as a result of having an abortion.

The pro-death or pro-abortion crowd would argue that organizations such as the American Cancer Society maintain the position that there is no correlation between breast cancer and abortions. See the article that contains the following information.

“Several studies have provided very strong data that induced abortions have no overall effect on the risk of breast cancer. Also, there is no evidence of a direct relationship between breast cancer and spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) in most of the studies that have been published. Scientists invited to participate in a conference on abortion and breast cancer by the National Cancer Institute (February 2003) concluded that there was no relationship. A recent report of 83,000 women with breast cancer found no link to a previous abortion, either spontaneous (stillbirth) or induced."

Life Decisions International describes one of the resources that it offers saying, “The Boycott List
includes a section called Dishonorable Mention, which lists seemingly innocuous non-profit organizations that are involved with Planned Parenthood or otherwise active in the Culture of Death. Among the groups included . . . American Cancer Society, . . . “ As a supporter of the largest abortion provider, I believe that the American Cancer Society may not have the last word on this subject.

I think it was in an interview that I recently heard with Dr. Grossman discussing her book titled, Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness in Her Profession Endangers Every Student talks about information withheld from young woman such as the alarmingly high rates of breast cancer especially teens. See also the recent article I wrote on AGC about Unprotected.

The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer’s website comments,

“Eight medical groups recognize that an abortion increases a woman's risk for breast cancer by leaving her breasts with an increase in cancer-vulnerable breast lobules. This is only the first of two breast cancer risks associated with abortion. Known as the "independent link," it is the only risk that scientists continue to debate.

”The second risk of abortion is a recognized risk. All experts agree that the best way to prevent breast cancer is by having more children, starting at a younger age, and breastfeeding them longer - a feat that is impossible to manage in a culture where abortion is prevalent . . . ”

We should not be so ready and willing to accept without serious question the research as fact of any ally of Planned Parenthood.

  1. I wonder who the "eight medical groups" are who claimed that abortion and breast cancer are linked.

Real medical groups know that the two have nothing to do with each other.
