Free Ramos and Compean

Jesus said, “lawlessness will cause the hearts of most to grow cold” (Matthew 24:12, NAS). We can see this in our country today in our courts. So many people have become convinced that there is nothing wrong with abortion because it has been “legalized”. But in this post I want to talk about the latest example of lawlessness that we can see in our courts.

Asvaldo Aldrete-Davila, a marijuana smuggler, was caught by border patrol agents, and then was shot as he tried to escape back to Mexico. After receiving 11-12 year sentences, the border patrol agents (Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean) ended up in jail and are being attacked in their prison cells by Latino gang members. Aldrete-Davila, who is not a citizen of the United States and entered illegally with 740 pounds of pot, is SUING the agents for violating his civil rights. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, a REPUBLICAN congressman, has called for IMPEACHMENT of the President for not pardoning the border patrol agents.

I agree that the agents should not have tried to cover up what had happened, but an 11 or 12 year sentence is ridiculous. They should have received only a reprimand, not jail time. If they were to be imprisoned, they should have been kept away from Latino gang members.

It’s ridiculous that local law enforcement agencies are not allowed to deport illegal aliens. One Ohio sheriff (Richard K. Jones) has attempted to bill the Federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for having to house illegals in his (Butler) county jail because he is not allowed to deport them. "Why should Butler County taxpayers have to pay for jail costs associated with people we don't believe should ever have been in this country, let alone this state, or county, to begin with?" asks Sheriff Jones. His persistence is beginning to pay off locally. We need more sheriffs like him and congressmen like Dana Rohrabacher and Tom Tancredo to help put an end to this lawlessness!

  1. Say Matt -

You express my sentiments exactly. I wrote an article some time ago on this blog [see: http://agoodchoice.blogspot.com/2006/09/handcuffing-illegal-alien-invasion.html]

Not only is this situation ridiculous, like you said, it is also Un-American and outrageous. Mr. President, you are placating the Mexican government, instead of doing the right thing for America.

Free the Border Guards – and free them and the National Guard to secure our borders, now!
