Absurdity of “Hate Crimes” Laws

To think one can know the true thoughts or intentions of another person comes from Asburdistan or maybe from the Pit of Preposterous. A criminal's thoughts and motives is what the supporters of "hate crimes" legislation (The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, or HR 1592) such as Representative John Conyers or Senator Ted Kennedy and others desire to regulate. The result would be that someone committing a crime against a homosexual person would be punished more severely than someone committing a similar crime to a young child or an elderly individual. This too is absurd.

Just as with our nation's immigration problem, Congress wants us to believe we need new laws. No, we only need enforcement of existing laws. Likewise we do not have to create a whole new special class of citizens with special protections, which "hate crimes" legislation would bring about. All citizens are protected under existing criminal laws right now. No new laws are needed. Click on the link below to see the absolute absurdity of "hate crimes" legislation.
