I had an ovarian ectopic pregnancy and still grieve over the loss and the fact that I had to have a chemical abortion. I in no way support abortion, but reading this information just ripped open old wounds. It is hard enough making the decision to end a pregnancy when you would gladly give your life for your child (born or unborn)but knowing the reality of the viability of the pregnancy. This postion will not help any pro-life mother who will no doubt second guess the decision she made for the rest of her life.

Matt- Is Dr. Johnson an OB/GYN? Have you ever seen a woman almost die from a ruptured tubal pregnancy? I have. The problem with conservatives and especially the religious right is we so frequently shoot our mouths off about things we have no business talking about.
Have you or your spouse ever had to deal with the loss of a child, Matt? Do you know what a viable pregnancy is, Matt?
The truth may hurt, but know what the truth is before you pass judgement, Matt.

  4. If you read the whole article then you must have read this part:

“It is only ethical to remove the tubal pregnancy if spontaneous resolution does not occur after watchful waiting and if the physician is 100% certain that there are no twins. At this point, the embryo in the fallopian tube is likely to be dead and, even if not, the death is unavoidable and unintentional, and the procedure is necessary to save the life of the mother.”

Patrick Johnston is a family practice physician.
