John Freshwater Supporters Show Up Again At September School Board Meeting

Righting 1st Amendment Wrongs

(Mount Vernon, Ohio) The above quote was imprinted on the bright red t-shirt worn by a young athletic young man attending the regular September Mount Vernon City School Board meeting in Monday evening. He, as did I, attended the meeting in support of John Freshwater, who the school board desires to terminate primarily because he dared to keep his Bible on his desk in his classroom. He is a middle school science teacher, whose only crime was living out his Christian faith outside of the 4 walls of his church. See the articles which I have written following the progress of this illustrative case.

According to my estimation there were between 150 and 200 people attending the start of the board meeting. The vast majority did so in support of John Freshwater. The high school theater was again needed to accommodate the large crowd of mostly supporters of Mr. Freshwater. There were not as many supporters as in August – the theater was more than half filled tonight, whereas there was standing room only last month. There were no visible or vocal supports of the School Board present.

During each board meeting the practice has been to allow a 15 minute slot for the purpose of hearing from the public on various matter. Input was limited to only those persons living within the boundaries of the school district. In the three most recent board meetings the board waived the 15 minute rule and allowed a greater number of persons to express their opinions pro and con on the John Freshwater matter. At the previous meeting almost 30 people spoke out, mostly on behalf of John Freshwater.

TRUTH IS NOT WELCOME HERE!

Unlike the previous board meeting, only 4 people spoke. All of them spoke on behalf and in defense of Mr. Freshwater. One of the speakers revealed that a change in policy implemented this new school year prohibited all displays of religious material or posters in all classrooms of the middle school. Furthermore, all extra-curricular meetings during the student’s lunch hour were also banned. In past years the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) met with a group of Middle School students. It is difficult for middle schools student, who do not drive, to remain after school to participate in the FCA meetings. Apparently the school administration wanted to discourage participation in this worthwhile organization. By the way, Mr. Freshwater was very active in this organization. He has been suspended since the boards decision to terminate his contract. He has appealed that decision and is awaiting a hearing, which has been rescheduled at least twice. It is now scheduled to take place in October.

THE BIBLE IS OUT, PORN IS IN

One of the speakers, Jeff Kline brought up the subject of the types of books permitted in the schools. He spoke about this topic at the August School Board's meeting during the public participation portion of that meeting. He indicated that a number of vile, sexually oriented books were discovered to be in the libraries of the elementary, middle schools and high schools. It was very ironic that the Bible is considered such an offensive book, but books filled with pornographic material are apparently welcomed and endorsed. One of the board members did indicate that there is a process to recommend removal of any objectionable book(s) from the library by completing a form that was on display on the table at the front of the auditorium.

I also wondered if now other teachers were not permitted to keep their bibles on their desks in their classrooms as several had been doing as recently as last year. If so, it would seem to me that there would be grounds for a class action lawsuit against the school and district for restricting the religious freedom of the teachers.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN OCTOBER?

I believe that Mr. Freshwater will be vindicated by the “objective” hearing officer who will oversee and rule at his termination hearing. He will be reinstated, but the pressure will be intense for him to conform to the anti-Christian environment fostered by Mr. White the principal of the middle school, who will be backed by the Mr. Short the Superintendent and the School Board.

Mr. Freshwater will have to file a lawsuit in order to protect any measure of his freedom of religion and his freedom to express his religion.

CONCLUSION

What we see in Mount Vernon, Ohio is a microcosm of what has happened and what is happening to a once vital educational system. Since 1962, with the removal of prayer from America's schools, then the removal of the Bible, then the incremental and insidious purging of any reference to God or Christian influence from our schools, our textbooks and the thorough indoctrination of the false theory of evolution as fact, the schools have progressively declined until they are now mediocre to poor. In our schools lies and the false religion of secular humanism have replaced the principles, virtues and values formerly based on Christianity. This is progress? No, this is absurdity, it is foolishness!

Vote a Conservative Congress, Part 4 - Marilyn Musgrave

For a Conservative Congress

This will be part of an on-going series, which will identify key races where we either need to retain strong conservatives or to elect strong conservatives. My personal feeling with being faced with two inferior candidates for President offered by our major political parties, we must turn our attention to insuring more conservative American-values oriented persons are elected to the U.S. Congress.

THE RACE

The next congressional race that we will highlight is Colorado District 4. I suggest that all conservatives in Colorado U.S. District 4 and elsewhere support Representative Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), Republican incumbent

She is a strong pro-life and pro-family leader. Mrs. Musgrave is a conservative known for her staunch opposition to same-sex marriage. I have personally heard her speak at 2006 Values Voters Summit in Washington DC and she is convincingly conservative on the issues with which I am most concerned She was the original sponsor of Federal Marriage Protection Amendment and is a strong pro-life supporter. She also is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.

THE RATING

Musgrave is rated as a hard-core conservative. She has represented her district since 2003. See OnTheIssues.com.

Representative Musgrave’s opponent is Democrat Betsy Markey, a businesswoman and regional director for Colorado Senator Ken Salazar.

THE REALITIES

Marilyn Musgrave will be in a tough race to maintain her seat in Congress. It is important that she remains in Congress. The Democrats covet her set and dislike everything for which she stands.

Hallmark’s Same-Sex “Wedding” Cards

Despite the fact that same-sex "marriage" is illegal and is an outright abomination to many people in the United States, Hallmark ignores these facts and approves the development and distribution of same-sex “wedding” cards. Hallmark apparently wants to be politically correct, or maybe it is just driven by what it sees as more profit despite the facts enumerated above.

Greed and Green seem to be more important today than virtue and values.

According to an AP article, "Now on the Hallmark aisle: [same-sex] marriage cards," Hallmark says that all of its stores can choose whether they want to add the latest offerings of same-sex “wedding” cards.

TAKE ACTION

Like McDonald's Restaurants, I will go out of my way to avoid purchasing any greeting card form the Hallmark Company.

Why Californians should vote YES on Proposition 8

Mr. Koffman you forgot two other tyrannical court “ruinings” that also became “law.”

[JUDICIARY] In 1973 the United States Supreme Court ruled that women had the unfettered right to murder their unborn children. Far worse than slavery, murdering an innocent baby is much more hideous and heinous than slavery. Despite 35 years of protest by advocates of pro-life the Democratic Party and its axis of evil – the billion dollar Planned Parenthood Federation of America, NARAL, NOW, the NEA, the United Church of Christ, et al have actively supported this great injustice. When will this awful ruling be overturned?

[JUDICIARY] In 2003 the United States Supreme Court struck down the sodomy law in Lawrence v. Texas. In essence, the tyrannical court blessed the unnatural, unhealthy, immoral and abnormal practice of homosexual behavior. Thus, it lead to the opening up the recent mischief perpetrated by the California Supreme Court decision of 2008 in contending that the exclusivity of one-man, one-woman marriage was unconstitutional. Sodomy is still wrong in the eyes of God and all sound reason.

First, the courts were designed to interpret the law, not to change or make new laws. It is not within the prerogative of the court to make laws. Only the Legislature should be making or changing the laws. The court has overstepped its bounds in California and in Washington D.C.

Second, how a person acts or behaves is no basis for a claim to special “civil” rights, priveleges or protections of law. Protecting homosexual behavior is like protecting someone who chooses to steal, or someone who wants to prostitute himself or herself, or someone who wants to murder. All of these are behaviors that societies have held to be unacceptable. It is not prejudicial, but common sense. That is why laws were created. They exist to protect society. The following is not politically correct, but it is truthful. Homosexual behavior is harmful and destructive to society – physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

“The $1.2 million donation is the single largest check written to the campaign, though Equality California, a [homosexual] “rights” group, and the Human Rights Campaign, a similar group, have bundled more total donations.”

Actually, Proposition 8 is not a “ban” but it seeks to preserve and to protect the one and only true marriage relationship in civilized society – one-man, one-woman marriage. The proposition merely confirms, protects, and preserves the sacred institution of marriage. Real marriage and the natural family unit is a key unpinning of any civilized society. Voting No on Proposition is tantamount to endorsing a preposterous initiation of "marriage." Failure to pass Proposition 8 will lead to further degradation of the real thing and to the American culture as we know it. It is incumbent upon every Californian Christian and conservative to Vote YES on Proposition 8.

Shining God’s Light on the Koran: Abraham’s Children

The Children of Abraham

Abraham had eight children by three women. Ishmael by Hager (Genesis 16:15), Isaac by Sarah (Genesis 21:3), and Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah by Keturah (Genesis 25:1,2). Yet Abraham has more children than these eight. Could you be one of them?

THE KORANIC ACCOUNT

Praise be to God who has given me Ishmael and Isaac in my old age (1)!

Abraham said: ‘Lord, make this a secure land. Preserve me and my descendants from serving idols. Lord, many have they led astray. He that follows me shall become my brother, but if anyone turns against me, You are surely forgiving and merciful (2).

COMMENTARY ON THE KORANIC ACCOUNT

The Koran lists only two of Abraham’s children: Ishmael and Isaac. Those who follow Abraham are then considered brothers of Abraham. Those who turn against Abraham will be forgiven by the god of the Koran who is merciful. This is implied by the phrase, “you are surely forgiving.”

THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNT

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, the just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, the man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (3).

For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus (4).

It is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewomen. But he who was of the bond-women was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise (5).

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bond woman and her son: for the son of the bond woman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free (6).

COMMENTARY ON THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNT

Scripture gives the names of the eight children of Abraham along with their mothers’ names. One of the children is a child of promise from God.

The covenant and promise of God with Abraham was carried on to Isaac only and not the other seven children (7). From this covenant and promise arrives the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the blessing to the entire world and to every family on earth. Whoever believes on Jesus becomes a child of Abraham by promise of God to Abraham. That is of course to believe that Jesus is God in flesh, the second person of the Trinity. That Jesus was sinless and lived a sinless life in total obedience to his Father the first person of the Trinity. That Jesus was crucified, shed his blood on the cross, and died on the cross: having taken the sins of the whole world in his own body on the cross. Then He received the wrath of God against himself for those sins, tasting death for each and every person. Jesus was buried and rose from the dead. When one confesses to God that they are a sinner and invites Jesus into their heart; Jesus saves them from perdition.

COMPARING & CONTRASTING THE KORAN WITH SCRIPTURE

In the Koran those who follow Abraham are called brothers of Abraham. In scripture those who follow Abraham are called by God the children of Abraham according to the promise of God.

In the Koran if one curses Abraham then God is merciful and forgiving. In Scripture if one curses Abraham then God will curse those who curse Abraham. It is an automatic response to anyone.

CONCLUSION

If you would like to be a child of Abraham you need to confess to God that you are a sinner, and then invite Jesus into your heart. A sample prayer is, “Lord Jesus Christ forgive me of my sins and come into my heart.”

"The current flap which has cost her a ten point loss of popularity (she's still 82%!) was over firing a popular commissioner of Public Safety who is responsible for our Alaska State Troopers. She fired him for no STATED reason which was her prerogative as the Gov. He served entirely at her option. She and her whole family had a bad, bad experience with a rogue Trooper who was married to Sarah's sister. His name is Trooper Wooten. This dimwit Trooper had= threatened Sarah's father (death threat!), threatened Sarah ("I'll get you too"), tasered his 12 year old stepson, drove drunk in his AST cruiser, got a pass by a fellow Trooper who stopped him for erratic driving a second time while in civvies and just a host of other things not yet released to the public. He got away with it and got another pass by the commis-sioner's appointed AST Trooper Internal Affairs investigator with a tiny slap on the wrist. Five days offwithout pay to be exact!!

"This maverick Trooper is still on the payroll but only just. The union intervening saved his malcontent ass. He'll yet get his I'm sure. Incredible heat is being heaped on the Troopers. public heat, not the Governors’ office.

ENEMIES

"The Democrats had the audacity to appoint a obviously biased investigator, Rep. "Gunny" French (so called because he lied about being in the USMC while running for the Legislature) is a staunch liberal and under the orders of Senate President Lyda Green who hates Sarah. She hates Sarah because after being elected Governor Sarah told the whole Legislature in one of her first meetings with them that, quote; "All of you here need some Adult Supervision!!!"

"Sarah was seriously pissed and not afraid of anyone there. That played wonderfully well with Alaskans after all of our corruption and after all of her successful battles against a seriously entrenched corrupt government here in Alaska. It
pissed off the whole Legislature though! They have stayed pissed but also afraid of her because of her popularity.

"She reminds me personally of our Alaska wolverine which will fight anything in it's path if it sees fit to do so. No respect at all for size or position. (My) Wife Cindy is in this category too. Unfortunately.

REAGANESQUE

Again, Michael Ramirez captured my sentiments exactly! Palin makes McCain a bit more palitable, but he still not totally acceptable as a presidential candidate. I like Palin very much, but still may not vote for the GOP ticket in November.

Robert Owens (I): For A Truly Independent Ohio Attorney General

Earlier this year Ohio was rocked by a scandal in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office when Democrat Marc Dann resigned in disgrace. Dann had been swept into office with other Democrats in state wide races following the improprieties of the Taft Administration. It is time to vote in someone not affiliated with either major political party.

Richard Cordray (D), Michael Crites (R), and Robert Owens (I) are campaigning to replace former AG Marc Dann (D). You can see a bit of Mr. Owens in the YouTube video below.

Owens is affiliated with the Constitution Party (CP) of Ohio. Actually he is the chairman of the Constitution Party. However, he is running as an independent candidate. I was a member of the CP until the national party compromised on the abortion issue.

Robert Owens For Attorney General



Some of the ideals that Robert Owens believes in are: a common-sense and less regulation for small business, an armed citizenry is the best deterrent to violent crime, and that it is important to stop the millions of dollars in no-bid contracts for political patronage.

Owens, a strong advocate of Second Amendment rights, is the only candidate in the race who actually holds a concealed carry permit.

In a Cleveland.com blog article Reginald Fields wrote quoting Owens, “"I think this is the best opportunity for an independent to win a race like this. The last two attorney generals, one a Democrat and one a Republican, have been absolute nightmares for that office."

“Owens is a limited-government advocate who says he's endorsed by the Constitution, Reform and Libertarian political parties.”

Vote a Conservative Congress, Part 3 – Bob Latta

For a Conservative Congress

This will be part of an on-going series, which will identify key races where we either need to retain strong conservatives or to elect strong conservatives. My personal feeling with being faced with two inferior candidates for President offered by our major political parties, we must turn our attention to insuring more conservative American-values oriented persons are elected to the U.S. Congress.

THE RACE

The next congressional race that we will highlight is Ohio District 5. Bob Latta is the Republican incumbent from Ohio (Northwestern Ohio) I lived in District 5 previously. It was exactly one year ago today,September 5, 2007, that long-time District 5 Congressman Paul Gillmor passed away in his apartment in Washington, D.C. and Bob Latta eventually won the election to serve the remainder of Gillmor’s term. Because of the fact that Rep. Latta is not fully pro-life, I cannot wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy. He apparently favors killing babies in the case of rape or incent.

Here is a profile of Congressman Latta from the Washington Times:

Bob Latta, a social and fiscal conservative, started his political training as a boy while tagging along with his father. Delbert Latta spent 30 years in Congress, from 1959 until he retired and left office in 1989. Along the way, he taught his son the conservative values they now share.

A quiet conservative, the younger Latta concentrated mainly on taxes and crime issues while in the Legislature. He was chairman of the House Criminal Justice Committee. Latta in 2000 successfully pushed for a cut in estate taxes, saying it would protect family farms and small businesses trying to pass their assets from generation to generation. He also sought to ban elected officials from receiving both their salary and their pension payments by retiring after being re-elected and then taking their old job back.

He sponsored bills that increased sentences for young people who used guns and increased penalties for repeat drunken drivers. Latta also sponsored a bill requiring all convicted felons to submit DNA samples so that the DNA collected could be used as evidence in unsolved crimes. Prisoner and crime-victim advocates argued that the state database of DNA samples could be abused for profiling witch hunts.

Latta proudly pointed out that he never missed a vote while he was in the (State) Legislature . . .

THE OPPONENT

Latta is running against Democrat George Mays, whose campaign website is very sketchy. The one thing I gleaned from his website is one of his quotes, "I am not as interested in America being a super power as I am a super country." What does that mean Mr. Mays? Does it mean you will follow in Bill Clinton’s footsteps and weaken our national defense?

THE REALITY

Bob Latta has an excellent chance to maintain his seat in the Congress. Like Ohio District 4, it is conservative leaning district.

David Brownlow for U.S. Senate

David Brownlow is a running as the Constitution Party of Oregon candidate for the U.S. Senate in the state of Oregon.

The Candidate

He believes that abortions should always be illegal. His number one priority is “End the abortion holocaust: Nearly 50,000,000 unborn Americans have been murdered.” “Of this we can be sure - there WILL BE an accounting. May GOD have mercy on America when the payment comes due,” he says.

He would eliminate income tax and most other federal taxes.

On federal crime, he says, “With very few exceptions, such as: treason, patent infringements, piracy on the high seas and counterfeiting, (counterfeiting done by anyone other than the Federal Reserve that is!) the federal government has NO authority over local law enforcement. Crime issues belong ‘to the states respectively, or to the people.’” (That last statement refers to the 10th amendment.) On drugs, he says, “The federal ‘drug war’ has been a spectacular failure, leading only to a loss of liberty for those of us who do not use mind-altering drugs. It is time to end this federal intervention in state and community issues.”

On education he says, “Government schools are designed to churn out an annual crop of fearful, obedient servants-- who believe; they came from slime, their parents are liars, and there is no God.”

He says, “The federal government has no authority to deal with employment or affirmative action issues.” On the environment he says, “The Constitution limits federal property to the area of Washington DC, forts, stockyards, and other needful buildings. The lands belong to the states, who are responsible to look over it.”

On gun control he says, “The 2nd Amendment does not bestow some special new right to us. It merely affirms our inalienable right to self defense and guarantees access to the means with which to exercise it.”

He has indicated that he believes that providing health care is not a responsibility of the federal government. About Social Security he says, “Our social security system is an illegal Ponzi scheme that is trillions of dollars in the hole. It is time to obey the law and let the people handle their own retirement.” He would abolish all federal welfare programs.

On illegal immigration, he says, “Defending our borders from invasion is one of the few legitimate roles of the federal government. We need to hold our Congressmen accountable to obey the law.”

On foreign aid, he says, “International Aid programs should be eliminated.”

On defense spending, he says, “We need a well maintained Navy, but we should move away from a standing army and rely on the militia/Guard as outlined in the Constitution. Our military could be less than 1/5 of current size if we would quit trying to be the world’s police force.”

On the war in Iraq he says, “Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and was never a threat to America. Iraq didn't even have an army! We were lied to by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest of the warmongering cutthroats who have seized control of our country. We need to apologize to the Iraqi people, and offer to pay for all the things we broke and the people we killed. Then, we need to get our boys out of there immediately.” On other military issues he says, “We need to keep our noses out of North Korean politics. We need to get out of Afghanistan immediately.”

He goes on to say, “The most effective way to ensure our national security is to end the imperialist misadventures we have been dragged into. A good start would be to bring hone every one of the 400,000 troops we have stationed in 140 of the world’s 192 countries. We are not the world's police force!” His number two priority is, “The biggest danger to our freedom is the American imperialist war machine. It is time to shut it down.”

He is against the U.S. membership in the UN (the Unethical Narcissists), WTO (World Totalitarian Organization), NAFTA (North American Fraud and Theft Agreement), CAFTA (Central American Free Treachery Agreement), GATT (Global Agreement on Treason and Tyranny), and all MFN (Most Favored [Fascist] Nation) status agreements.

His number three priority is “Our Constitution has been torn to shreds, leaving us with a federal government that has more in common with a vast criminal enterprise than it does a legitimate government. We should hold our Congressmen accountable…”

He opposes a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as a union between a man and woman. Curious as to why? I wrote about this in more depth in my previous post.

Opponent 1

Senator Gordon Harold Smith voted for Senator Edward Kennedy’s bill to add sexual orientation to the list of federal hate crimes. He would include sexual orientation in federal anti-discrimination laws as well. (This is an example sanctioning wicked behavior.)

He believes that abortion should be legal in cases of rape and incest. He supports funding for embryonic stem cell research and affirmative action programs.

There is hardly an area of government that he doesn’t want expand and increase spending for, but yet wants to cut taxes and increase deductions and credits. All this with a $9.5 trillion debt! Where is all that spending money going to come from Senator Smith? Brownlow, in contrast, would not only decrease spending in these areas, but in most cases would actually eliminate them altogether.

One these spending increases that Smith supports is the hated No Child Left Behind Act which gives the federal government even more power over an already broken and corrupt education system.

Though he says he favors leaving Iraq now, he voted for the war (the use of force) in 2002 and has voted against redeployment measures as late as 12/18/07.

Opponent 2

Jeff Merkley believes that abortions should always be legal. Like Smith, he would include sexual orientation in federal anti-discrimination laws.

“NOBODY CARES!”

It concerns what he considers to be one of the least important issues in his campaign, but I just had to write this post about it. For one thing, it is rather humorous. And secondly, it brings up a point that few Christians think about. David Brownlow, 2008 candidate for the U.S. Senate in Oregon, wrote:

"Gay" Marriage - A Call for the Separation of Marriage and State

We have spent way, waaaaay too much time worrying about this one. Marriage was intended to be a church issue - "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." That came from the Bible, not the Constitution, so why should we need a government license to engage in something GOD ordained from the beginning of time?

As usual, we waste a massive amount of effort fighting the symptom rather than trying to figure out what is causing the problem - which is that whatever we let the government license, the government will also regulate. Is it any wonder this has turned into a total circus? The proper solution is to get the government completely out of the marriage licensing business and let the churches handle it.

Scripture, common sense, as well as the anatomic realities, makes it undeniably clear that men were designed to procreate with women. (Well, duh!) However, if a particular church wants to break all the rules and make a mockery of the natural order of things, there is no need for us to get all shook up over it - just as long as we aren't forced to sanction or subsidize their behavior. The First Amendment applies equally - and particularly - to those who hold religious beliefs we may not agree with.

NO MARRIAGE LICENSE + NO TAX BREAKS + NO GOVERNMENT CONTROL = NOBODY CARES! Why does everything have to be done the hard way?

The “nobody cares!” part was what I thought was funny (and also the “well, duh!”). I never thought that I would see the word “anatomic” on a political campaign website. Speaking of anatomy, this guy isn’t afraid to step on anyone’s toes!

But the fact that most Christians have no idea what makes a marriage a real marriage is no laughing matter. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman at the well, “…for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband." (John 4:18). But there was no such thing as marriage licenses at that time! Such a thing was not even invented until less than 150 years ago! Some countries even today don’t have marriage licenses. What are they supposed to do, illegally immigrate to the U.S.?

So if, according to the Bible, it isn’t a piece of paper that makes a marriage different than just “living together”, then WHAT IS IT? To find out, click here. Then study the Bible for yourself to see if what we are saying is right.

Bob Bird for U.S. Senate

With all the recent talk about Sarah Palin, McCain’s VP choice, I would like to focus on another Alaskan. Bob Bird is running for U.S. Senate as member of the Alaska Independence Party (AIP). Click here to see what Governor Palin says about the AIP.

The Candidate

When asked the question, “Can you make a brief, non-religious case for banning abortion for secular libertarian readers?” Bob Bird said:

In a recent debate with me, a proabortion Democrat said that: ‘When human life begins is a religious question.’ This is nonsense. Even Planned Parenthood’s Faye Wattleton admitted ‘Of course I know that human life begins at conception.’ Each human cell has 46 chromosomes, EXCEPT the reproductive cells, which have 23. Put the sperm and egg together, and voila! Forty-six chromosomes and human life. We must always err on the side of life, when in doubt.

He believes that the President need not enforce Roe v Wade, citing Thomas Jefferson’s decision not to enforce Alien and Sedition Act, which he deemed unconstitutional. Furthermore, he acknowledges that Article III section 2 gives Congress the right to nullify most any decision that Supreme Court may make. Finally, he says that state legislatures should openly defy the court’s tyrannical decisions. Bob Bird is endorsed by the Alaska Right to Life (ARL). That is quite a feat for a non-Republican.

He believes that in the Kelo v New London case, the courts had no jurisdiction because the Fifth Amendment, in his view, only applies to federal cases.

He believes that the statehood amendment for Alaska is unconstitutional, because it granted the federal government ownership of 60% of Alaska’s land in violation of Article I, section 8, clause 17.

He believes that the war in Iraq is both unconstitutional and immoral. He is also against regulations of the Department of the Motherland Security which restrict the movement of people on Alaska’s beaches.

He believes that gun ownership is an absolute right. He understands that the Constitution mainly restricts the federal government and not state or local governments or private citizens. He would get rid of all of the wasteful unconstitutional government departments, agencies, programs, and memberships in world organizations.

The Opposition

Ted “bridges to nowhere” Stevens, self-described as “pro-choice” was among the few Republicans who joined the ranks of Olympia Snow, Susan Collins and Arlen Specter in voting NO on a bill that would have prevented federal funds from being issued to groups that perform abortions except hospitals. He voted to express the sense of the Senate for (to approve of) Roe v Wade.

He voted for the Patriot Act three times, the military commissions act of 2006, the use of force in Iraq in 2002, and voted against measures to get out of Iraq. He voted for CAFTA (the Central American Fraud and Theft Agreement).

This is the guy who pitifully threatened to resign if he didn’t get his way on federal funding of his pork.

Stevens was also recently indicted for taking inappropriate gifts from an oil corporation. Even Palin helped to crack down on the corruption of her fellow Republican.

"Zero, Zero, Zero"

Palin Lands Punches

An electrified St. Paul Minnesota GOP national convention crowd chanted "zero, zero, zero" in response to Governor Linda Lingle's (R-HI) no nonsense, no holds barred exposure of the thinness or absolute lack of any executive experience of either the Democratic Presidential or the Vice Presidential nominees this evening. Zero executive experience is what the Democratic ticket offers America. Senator Zero fits Senator O to a tee.

Palin, Mike Huckabee and Governor Lingle all did a nice job in speaking tonight. Governor Palin hit a bulls eye with her line about the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull - hockey moms wear lipstick. She was all they say Senator Joe Biden was brought on the democratic ticket to be, an attack dog. You could say Palin got the first bite. She helped to take a bite out of the crime called the Democratic Party platform.

I did not hear, nor did I want to hear Mitt Romney’s speech tonight, and I muted Rudy Giuliani’s speech, which preceded Palin’s. Nor do I plan to listen to John McCain’s speech tomorrow evening. As far as I am concerned, I heard quite enough tonight. Palin pumped up the crowd and I dare say, much of America, too, tonight. She was Reaganesque. The McCain, in my mind, acceptance speech Thursday would be anticlimactic. I’ll pass.

Palin’s assessment of how an Obama-Biden administration would deal with the real, serious, even eminent threat of the Al Qaeda terrorist group domestically is that Obama-Biden would worry more about whether we would read the terrorists their rights, above anything else! Wow! How right on! You Go Girl!

I suggest that all conservatives in Ohio U.S. District 4, in Ohio and elsewhere to get strongly support is Representative Jim Jordan, Republican incumbent from Ohio (Northcentral Ohio.) Jordan is completing a successful first term in Congress. Please read the articles I have previously written about Rep. Jordan.

He is a strong pro-life and pro-family leader. I have heard him speak in person on several occasions and in various settings. Once outdoors on the public square in the middle of winter in Mansfield, Ohio at a pro-life rally, once indoors in a church for another pro-life event, once in September at a large political action oriented event. I have heard him on the radio giving interviews. He is convincingly conservative on the issues with which I am most concerned

Why Experience Matters

I found the following ridiculous post on the Internet this morning. It was a comment to a CBSNew.com story:

McCain's Palin Pick: Manifestly Unserious cbsnews.com — I don't doubt that Palin is a nice person and probably a competent Alaskan governor. But she also has the thinnest background of any candidate for national office since 1908. Is McCain willing, with a straight face, to argue that Palin is the single "most prepared" person in the entire U.S. to assume the presidency should tragedy strike?

I am sorry, but it is Barack “who’s insanely socialist” Obama who has the thinnest background of any candidate and least qualified for national office since the country began. For one thing Governor Sarah Palin has more executive experience as Governor and as Mayor than the charismatic but pompous elitist empty suit.

On the same token, are the American people, with a straight face, willing to argue with their VOTE that Barack Hussein Obama is the single "most prepared" person in the entire U.S. to assume the presidency should the tragedy of HIS ELECTION take place?

Senator John McCain picked the the best of the litter potential which included VP candidates – Romney, Ridge, Huckabee, Lieberman, and Hutchison.
