Insulting Jesus Christ is Ultimate Intolerance

Jesus Christ and Christianity is definitely under attack in the United States, as He and as it is in the world today. We have the blasphemous movie, the DaVinci Code, and now another insulting picture of Jesus in a college newspaper.

The American Family Association Alert dated May 19, 2006 stated, in part:

The Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) has refused to apologize for an obscene anti-Christian assault in the campus newspaper Insurgent. ”The March edition of the Insurgent ran one of the strongest attacks on Christianity I have seen. The paper ran graphics depicting Jesus as a homosexual . . .

“When asked for an apology by Students of Faith, ASUO refused to give one saying that "there are no grounds for demanding an apology from Insurgent." The ASUO went on to defend the publication saying that the newspaper contributes "to the cultural and physical development of the university community." ..."

The AFA suggested that their readers write the Governor and other leaders in Oregon to protest.

I did.

My letter included in part: “What many Moslems were outraged about and even killed others throughout the world over, were cartoon portrayals of their beloved Prophet, Mohammed, I find even more offensive in the U. of Oregon student newspaper's graphic portrayal of the Lord Jesus Christ as a homosexual. The United States has its roots firmly in Judeo-Christian values. This is an insult to Jesus Christ, to me personally and to the many believers in Oregon and in whole United States . . .

". . . I say shame on this so-called institution of higher learning, which is apparently producing people who lack even the simplest decency and decorum. Is nothing sacred anymore, not even God, Himself? Isn’t it enough that our courts and schools have removed all traces of God from our schools, now they want to trample on Him? This is not funny, it is insulting and scandalous."
