Shining God’s Light on the Koran

This article is part of an on-going series of articles. See previous articles: "Was Abraham a Jew or a Christian?" and "Idolatry 101."

Idolatry 102

The Koran says that idols have induced many pagans to even kill their children. This idolatry ruins the worshipper and confuses the individual in their faith (7).

The Koran states that idols can neither help nor harm. How can they then induce anyone to do anything? In reality an idol cannot cause anyone to do anything. However, demonic spirits associated with a particular idol can work on a person by putting ideas in their brain or in their dreams at night or appear in visitations. They could even speak to a person so he or she hears with his or her ears. Someone without the knowledge of God’s truth, as revealed in Scripture, could believe it is God revealing things to them when it is actually demons.

The Aztecs in Mexico sacrificed humans to their gods (idols) believing that it would give them added power. Great ceremonies and festivals were held and the hearts of humans were removed from chests that had been ripped open. Most of the victims were prisoners of war (talk about mistreatment of prisoners! Gitmo is paradise by comparison!). To the Aztec the victims represented the gods and at death lived in happiness ever since (8). Sometimes children were also sacrificed (9). The Aztec became a very advanced society that extended from AD 1300’s to 1521 when the Spanish troops under Hernando Cortes conquered the Aztecs (10).

The Maya offered human sacrifice throwing the victim into deep wells. The Mayan civilization flourished from AD 250 to 900 AD in Southern Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Spain conquered most of it by Hernando Cortes (11).

Amazingly God had supernaturally revealed to one of the kings of these nations the plan of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The Priests got him to not inform the people fearing loss of their power among the people (l2). Then the Spanish arrived. They had rejected God’s witness and died.

Abraham was told by God that the sin of the Amorites was not yet complete and that his descendants would be in Egypt 400 years until their sins were full then they were to come out of Egypt (13) and conquer all of Canaan killing every man, woman and child for their sins were so great. God said if any were allowed to live they would corrupt Israel (14) one of the things they would do was infant sacrifice. Images of Baal and Molech would be heated and the infants placed in the out stretched arms of the idols. Then their children would perish.

Israel was warned not to act like them for if they did they would be cast out of the land. God gives this promise to any nation, civilization, society or peoples that does infant or even human sacrifice that those peoples would be thrown out of the land by the land on which they live (15).
