Round Two: California’s Proposition 8

There is a war on the American culture. One major battle campaign is taking place in California where the homosexual marriage advocates, like termites, are vigorously eating away at the foundation of this culture. Marriage as we know it, that sacred, God-ordained institution which has bode well in America well over 250 years is now threatened and on the brink of utter destruction. See my previous articles regarding California's Proposition 8.

FIRST ROUND

Round one in this battle occurred in a 4-3 ruling by the California Supreme Court, which invented a new right for same-sex couple to pervert the sanctity of marriage by granting them the “right” to “marry.” That in itself was a travesty. That court knew that Proposition 8 was brought to the ballot box in the upcoming election, but these activist, tyrannical judges took the law into their own hands and dared the people to defy them. Effective June of this year those tyrants defied God, tradition, and morality and blessed same-sex “marriage.” Like abortion, same-sex marriage, no matter what the tyrannical judges declare, is still reprehensible and is a violation of all moral standards. It is an abomination, or is that now considered an Obamanation?

That ridiculous ruling was not enough for the homosexual advocates. They tried to remove Proposition 8 frome the ballot, despite appropriate signatures and process being followed by citizens. They were stopped from removing the initiative from the ballot. It will appear on the November ballot.

SECOND ROUND

Both sides needed a little time in their respective corners. Both had delivered and took some tough blows. The homosexual lobby fights dirty. They repeatedly hit below the belt. They were undaunted as the pro-marriage advocates “won” the right to have their hard earned initiative appear on the ballot. The same-sex advocates turned to their ally, former radical liberal governor and now California’s Attorney General – following in the flawed footsteps of Eliot Spitzer and Marc Dann two other disgraced AGs- Jerry Brown, who tripped up the pro-traditional marriage supporters when he changed the language of Proposition 8 transforming it into a homosexual "rights" issue instead of a pro traditional marriage issue.

The pro traditional marriage advocates took that hit and continued to move forward swinging mightily at the radical AG who was now in the ring with his same-sex buds. The attorneys, namely the Alliance Defense Fund took this matter of prejudiced politicized language to the Superior Court of California. The Superior Court struck the pro traditional marriage supporters with yet another blow – they upheld the radical AG and his bastardization of the Proposition 8 language. You could almost hear and see the same-sex advocates and the radical AG say, “Yes,” with their hands raised high in victory. Not so fast, the attorney for the pro traditional marriage advocates struck back. They filed an emergency petition with a three-judge panel of the California Appellate Court, which the pro-traditional marriage attorneys hope will overturn the Superior Courts decision.

According to an OneNewNow.com article, “Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund and ProtectMarriage.com say they intend to file the appeal immediately.”

THE BATTLE RAGES

The fight is close. Both sides are wounded. Which side will win?

The homosexual lobby is determined to win this battle by hook or by crook. They have pulled out all stops. They are pouring money and people into this contest. Like the Islamic terrorists and their promoters, the same-sex advocates will use all tactics including deceit and outright lies against their enemies to win.

The election outcome has great significance not only for California, but for all of America and for,and do I dare say, all of Western civilization. This is where the line must be held. Too much ground has already been lost. The forces of good cannot lose now. The forces of good – those who advocate the preservation of the sanctify of one-man, one-woman marriage - must prevail.

  1. Considering that ProtectMarriage.com has decided NOT to appeal the ballot language, what chance do you really see for Prop 8 to pass? I just don't see a majority of Californians voting YES on a proposition titled ELIMINATES RIGHT OF SAME-SEX COUPLES TO MARRY.

Once the churches realize that Prop 8 is an almost guaranteed loser, are they going to do the right thing and let their members know? If not, what happens after Prop 8 loses by 40-60 (or worse), and then the members find out that the church leadership was privy all along to internal polling that predicted a crushing defeat? Do the members get their money back?

Or do they get stuck paying for ads that were run by a campaign that knew it was going to lose but ran them anyway!

Sacramento --- Proposition 8 and ProtectMarriage.com will seek an appeal today in response to the Sacramento Superior Court’s decision to deny their writ requesting that prejudicial language assigned to the Ballot Title & Summary by Attorney General Jerry Brown be changed. While agreeing that Brown’s language could have been better and more completely drafted, the Superior Court found that the law gives the Attorney General discretion to rewrite ballot titles and summaries. “The language in the Ballot Title & Summary for Proposition 8 is argumentative and seeks to negatively affect voters,” said Andrew Pugno, legal counsel for Proposition 8. “Since the Superior Court would not exercise its authority to protect voters against misleading language, we will ask the Appellate Court to do so.” The California Election Code states that a ballot measure must receive an impartial statement. The Attorney General recently changed the ballot title & summary for Proposition 8, raising questions about the impartiality and fairness of the language. “We believe the Attorney General has attempted to influence voters against this measure,” said Pugno. “It is our goal to ensure that voters have a fair opportunity to decide this measure for themselves on Election Day.” In a review of the past 50 years of ballot measures, this is the only initiative among 250 initiatives that an Attorney General has assigned a negative verb for its Title & Summary. Proponents of Proposition 8 will file an Appeal today. They note that the measure simply seeks to restore the definition of marriage back to its original meaning of the previous 158 years of California statehood.
