Batchelder and Faber Hand Kasich Hollow Victory, Ohio Loses

The last time we "resolved" the federal debt crisis and kicked the can down the road, a "super congress" was created and power at the federal level was concentrated into the hands of even fewer people. Here in Ohio, we have done the same thing to our state Assembly and have overturned the will of the People thanks to the leading socialist Repugnants Governor John Kasich and House Speaker Batchelder.

Gongwer News reports that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved Governor Kasich's multi-billion dollar request to appropriate funds to expand Medicaid in Ohio.
  • The Board approved the request with a 5-2 vote, Senator Chris Widener and Representative Ross McGregor voting with the two democrats on the panel and the Kasich appointee who serves as the Board's President.
  • Representatives Amstutz and Rosenberger were removed from the Board by Speaker Batchelder earlier in the day in order, perhaps, to make way for a stronger majority vote. They were replaced by Representatives Ross McGregor and John McClain with McGregor joining the majority.
  • The only two "no" votes on the panel were Representative McClain and Senator Bill Coley both of whom chose to represent the will of the people and constitutional governance over political expediency.
By ensuring the key "yes" votes on the panel, Speaker Batchelder and Senate President Faber have become the unlikely harbingers of universal health care in a state that overwhelmingly rejected Obamacare in 2011 in the vote for health care freedom. To have swapped their conservative credentials in favor of such a legacy is startling and disappointing, especially for their constituents who have stood at the forefront in the fight against Obamacare in Ohio.

But Batchelder and Faber will not only be remembered for the "end" that they achieved today, but also for the "means" by which it was accomplished. They have allowed for major policy to be made through a quasi-legislative panel most Ohioans had not heard of just a few weeks ago and referred to by Politico as an "obscure Ohio board." Batchelder and Faber have circumvented the very state assembly over which they preside and shunned all checks & balances in the process.

Governor Kasich appears to be in denial over the handling of this issue speaking as if he has operated in concert with the state legislature. But the window dressing he applies only serves to underscore the flimsy nature of his façade,

"Together with the General Assembly we've improved both the quality of care from Medicaid and its value for taxpayers. Today's action takes another positive step in this mutual effort. I look forward to continuing our partnership with the General Assembly to build upon the progress we've already made to make Medicaid work better for Ohioans."Read more from Politico at this link.

The last word has not been spoken in this fight. Maurice Thompson of The 1851 Center for Constitutional Law is prepared to file suit against the Controlling Board's actions as early as Tuesday and will be joined by members of the state assembly who signed a letter of protest against Kasich's maneuvers last week. Thompson's suit will argue that the Controlling Board cannot act contrary to the intent of the state assembly.

OLC members who fought hard to stop Medicaid expansion cannot help but be disappointed in today's outcome. We should take heart, however, in the effectiveness of our campaign. Governor Kasich only achieved Obamacare's Medicaid expansion through extraordinary means. It was a hollow victory at best, one he can only characterize in false terms. Such a victory should not last if justice has its day.

Thank you to all you who fought so hard to stop Medicaid expansion. Do not let yesterday's loss divert you from our goal. We are on the right side of this battle as the failure of Obamacare reveals itself more and more every day.

Why the Tea Party is so FEARED by the Radical Left

I read an obviously instigative Alternet.org article entitled, "10 Reasons Why the Tea Party is so Unpopular.” It got my attention.

I believe that the Radical Leftist Establishment and Leadership absolutely FEARS the Tea Party Movement because we reject every aspect of their polarizing and destructive Agenda. The Mr. Obama and his comrades-in-harm (including the Main Stream Media) on the Left must destroy, marginalize, ridicule, subvert the Tea Party and its adherents because we are the main barrier to their desire to fundamentally transform America into a Socialist Utopia.

Tea Party Hobbits March

Here is how I commented on the article:

10 Reasons Why the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT is so unpopular with the Left or Why the Tea Party is so FEARED by the Radical Left:

(1) The Tea Party Movement (TPM) rejects the core principle, philosophy, and agenda of the left - especially fiscal irresponsibility, big government control over all aspect of live, limiting individual freedoms (life, religious, self-protection, etc). TPM wants to preserve the values and virtues that made America exceptional.

(2) TPM favor small, localized government control instead of a big centralized government.

(3) TPM believes America should live within the revenue that it receives rather than going in debt to foreign and domestic lenders. That is what is expected of the American family.

(4) TPM believes that there are far too many regulations. The IRS should be replaced by a Fair Tax system which would tax based on consumption. The free-market the determinates who stays in business, not the government. Customers will support those enterprises that best met there needs. Government should not be allowed to pick winners and losers, as they are now prone to do.

(5) TPM prefer a free-market approach to the delivery of health care. ObamaCare is just a ploy to lead this nation to a government controlled one-payor system. Reform is needed such as tort reform, portability of insurance etc, not the mass takeover by the post office mentality of a central government...

(6) TPM believes that the entitlement programs need to be seriously looked at for the purpose of sustaining or replacing them with 21st century solutions. Look at the Chilean model of Social Security is one example. Consideration should be given to privatization of some aspects. Revising requirement and qualifications. The left wants to preserve the status quo. They just want to increase benefits with no concern how to pay for it now or in the future.

(7) Many in the TPM want to preserve life rather than to destroy it through abortion and ObamaCare Death Panels. Many in the TPM recognize the PERSONHOOD of man starts at the moment of conception. Many in the TPM believe in the sanctity of life from prior-to-birth to natural death.

(8) Many in the TPM support and desire to preserve traditional, one-man, one-woman marriage and reject the notion of an illicit imitation of marriage concocted in recent times. They reject the notion of government mandating the acceptance of perversion as an acceptable and normal lifestyle.

(9) The TPM rejects the global warming hoax and believes that we should be expanding rather than contracting domestic energy production. We should be providing American jobs, not enriching and providing resources for terrorist-sheltering and supporting Islamic nations who are currently selling us oil...

(10) The TPM does not want more guns they just want to preserve their right to choose to own and possess them. It seems that through reports I've seen it the government agencies that are stockpiling guns and ammunitions for some possible not-to-distant confrontation with the people...

Fox News is Wrong, Cruz is Right - ObamaCare Can Be Defunded

The following email was just forwarded to me this morning ... The plan described for stopping the funding of the loathsome so-called Affordable Care Act is ingenious. Senator Ted Cruz is a leader. The GOP is in desperate need real leadership. The Speaker of the House and the Minority Leader in the Senate demonstrate that they care only about maintaining the status quo and preserving their sorry seats of power. They've compromised their principles for political purposes and expediency.

If you watched Fox News tonight (Friday), you would think that the Republicans in the House, and Ted Cruz in particular, are out of their minds. Charles Krauthamer called their plan to defund ObamaCare a "charade".  They basically made it sound as if there is no chance of the Cruz plan working. I have to admit, based on everything I was reading and hearing from Congressional and Senate staffers, I had little belief that this plan was anything but a potential disaster.

However, tonight on the Mark Levin Show, Ted Cruz explained a part of the plan I had never heard before, and perhaps you had not heard before either, that makes all the difference.  Cruz admitted that the chances of doing anything in the Senate are very low. He admitted that the ObamaCare defunding would be stripped from the CR by the Senate and it would be sent back to the House. (Though it would be great if he can force Senate Democrats to have to vote on it!)

Now, this is where the new information comes in. Up until now, and if you watched Fox News or any other station, we were led to believe that the only options that would be left to the House after the CR came back from the Senate would be to either pass the CR or shut down the government. Neither of which would turn out well for the Republican or for our movement.

But Cruz explained that the next step would instead be for the House to start sending one CR at a time back to the Senate that funds part of the government, but not ObamaCare.  So, for instance, they would pass a CR that funds Social Security and Medicare and send it to the Senate.  What is the Senate going to do? Refuse to fund Social Security and Medicare?  No way.  Then the House sends a CR to fund the Military. Same thing happens. The Democrats will have no choice but to pass these CR's.  If the Senate tries to add Obamacare to any of the CR's, the House votes it down and sends back another CR without ObamaCare. They repeat the process until the entire government is funded at sequestration levels, with the exception of ObamaCare.  The Republican's never do anything to shutdown the government, but the Senate is in a position to be responsible for shutting down the government if they don't approve the individual CR's.  If they refuse and keep sending back a single CR, it is they that will be shutting down the Government  - while we will be protecting the American people from the economic and healthcare damage of ObamaCare. That my fellow Patriots is the "power of the purse" writ large!  I for one, think it can work. What about you?

Now our job becomes two fold.  First, I don't think even a handful of Republican House members understand this is the plan.  Cruz sure waited long enough to spell it out!  So, we have got to call all of our House Representatives and tell them this is what we want them to do and tell them we will back them if they do.

Second, we need to start calling our friends and relatives and start explaining this plan. Everyone knows ObamaCare is a disaster, but they need to know what the Republicans are doing to stop it.  Public opinion is going to be critical and we need to help people get on board. Be sure to explain that the Republicans have offered a bunch of better health care reform bills, such as the The American Health Care Reform Act.

I hope this information makes things a little more clear and gives you a good idea of what we need to do and what our House Republicans need to do.  Hat's off to Ted Cruz who certainly has shown the ability to lead on this critical issue for our nation. Let's make it happen!

Best Regards,

Tom Zawistowski

Damascus

Here are two prophecies concerning Damascus:

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Isaiah 17:1 (KJV)

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.

Jeremiah 49:27 (KJV)

I mention these prophecies for two reasons:

1. Damascus is the capital of Syria, a nation which the United States is on the brink of getting involved in militarily.

2. These prophecies have never been fulfilled, but there are no time limits on them and since the Bible is God's Word, they will come to pass.

I am not necessarily saying that the United States will be the instrument by which these prophecies will be fulfilled.  And I certainly do not advocate our involvement in the conflict.  But I believe that these prophecies must be fulfilled sometime before the White Throne judgement.  Damascus might not be destroyed any time soon, but when it is destroyed, that could be a sign of the end times.  I do not know when Christ is coming back, but I am just saying that maybe these recent events could motivate us to work harder in witnessing to the lost.

Common Core Repeal Bill Introduced

Please write to your Ohio representative and tell them to support the bill to repeal Common Core.  Here is a sample letter:

I urge you to consider cosponsoring HB 237 which is a bill to repeal the Common Core initiative for Ohio. Common Core is a program which dumbs down children, teaches them to rebel against their parents and to be selfish and argumentative. It is not at all about real education, but behavior modification.

Sin Hurts

Sin Hurts

by Dr. Patrick Johnston

One of the devil's tricks is, "This is good for you." Isn't that what he told Eve in the Garden of Eden? "This is good to eat. It'll make you wise. It'll make you like God."
  serpent offers fruit

It's a seductive lie. It's never right or good to disobey God. Never.

Women like Marla, whose unfortunate story is told below, frequently fall prey to the physician's argument that this abortion is "good for you." Marla's death during her abortion is a sad memorial to how sin sprouts out of the soil of lies, and breeds misery and destruction.

Pro-life groups, unfortunately, have fallen prey to the same lie. They think that it's good to justify some abortions in our pro-life legislation. They think that maternal health, rape, or incest justify the killing of an innocent child. They think that exceptions to the divine commandment "Thou shalt not kill" are necessary in order to do "the greater good."

Don't believe the lie that abortion is sometimes good for women. Abortion hurts - always.

Dr. Johnston preached recently at Amsterdam Church of God in Amsterdam, Ohio, and his sermon was entitled "Sin Hurts."

Click the title to listen to the sermon. You'll also hear testimonies from the pastor's wife and two other woman on how sin brought them suffering.

God gave us His law because He loves us. He wants what's best for us. Deuteronomy 5:28 reveals that He wants us to obey His commandments so that it will go well with us and our children. God's way is always best, and not just abortion, but all sin always hurts.

Marla's Shocking Story

Marla Cardamone was 18 and pregnant. She would not make it to 19.
A medical counselor told Marla that the medication she had been taking would cause her baby to be born with severe birth defects. They recommended an abortion. At first, Marla refused, but their pressure to abort the baby increased. They told her that her baby would probably die anyway, and if the baby survived, it would be deformed and suffer.

The abortionist aborted her baby - and Marla! Looks like "safe and legal" is not that safe after all. Following Marla's death, it was determined that her baby was normal.

This is Marla, before and after her abortion. She died from abortion-related septicemia (infection).

These photos are used with the permission of Marla's family. They want the world to know what "safe and legal" abortion did to their child and grandchild, in hopes that it won't happen again.

This video is of an interview of Marla's mother about the death of her daughter.

(The information about Marla is taken from a Life Dynamics tract entitled "Safe & Legal.")

Truth and Tradition

Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Matthew 15:3 (KJV)

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:8 (KJV)

USOE Math Book Comparison

"You May Lynch a Black Slave If..."

by Dr. Patrick Johnston

July 25, 2013
If it were legal to murder people who fit your description, would you consider it "loving" to regulate how and when you may be murdered? No? Then "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
What about Texas' "20-Week" Abortion Bill?
I was asked to lend my support for the Texas "20-week" bill in its infancy, but once I read it I could not. Many pro-life leaders support such bills, yet haven't even read the bill. Some of these bills re-affirm Roe v. Wade, dehumanize the preborn, and justify the killing of some children. Those supporting such bills believe that the abortion any preborn child is murder, and yet their bills permit some murder. Hypocrisy is not a fruit of the Spirit. It's like an opponent to slavery in the colonial era actually owning a slave. It's like condemning the lynching of slaves UNLESS the lyncher is informed that the slave can feel pain (similar to the fetal pain awareness bills). Or unless the lyncher has viewed a mandatory ultrasound of the slave's heartbeat first. Or unless the slave being lynched is under a certain age.

The Texas "20-week" bill actually nullifies itself if it poses an "undue burden" on a women intent on killing her baby. The Ohio Heartbeat Bill actually nullifies itself if a judge overturns it!

Since when do godless judges and undue burdens" on murderers trump the commandment "Do no murder"?

"Some lives will be saved," the argument is made. That remains to be seen. A federal judge recently overturned North Dakota's heartbeat bill, calling it "unconstitutional". Many oppose personhood bills because they worry that the courts will overturn them, but many of these regulatory bills get overturned, too. If we'd start trying to protect all the threatened children, instead of trying to legalize circumstances in which they may be killed, or designating an age at which they may be killed, then maybe we've have a law worth defying the feds over, a law God would bless.

Think about this: Should we "do evil that good may come"? Would you blaspheme God's name to stop an assault? Would you commit sodomy to stop a terrorist attack? Would you dismember and kill one Downs Syndrome baby in order to save others from dying?

You shouldn't, not if God's law is the standard of right and wrong. Relative morality is affront to God's sovereignty and Jesus' lordship. Situational ethics is a satanic alternative to God's rule. God is the standard of morality and justice, and "He that keeps the whole law and offends in one point is guilty of all" (James 2:10). His law says "Thou shalt not kill", not "Kill this baby, but not this baby." Thou shalt not kill!

We shouldn't be hypocrites, condemning the murder of dehumanized babies out of one side of our mouths, and justifying the murder of some dehumanized babies out of the other side of our mouths through supporting compromised bills. Read the bill before you fall prey to the advertising campaigns, and be sure that is compatible with God's Word.

The American Right to Life articles "Oppose Abortion Regulations Because..."and "Oppose Abortion Exceptions Because..." show why Christians cannot support most so-called pro-life bills that
- attempt to regulate abortion (for example, bills attempting to make child-killing clinics more sanitary, safer for the killers); or
- designate an age at which some children may be killed (like most heartbeat bills and late-term abortion bans), or
- designate circumstances, such as rape, incest, or fetal handicap, when some children may be killed.

Study these articles, and learn the biblical arguments well, for just as in the days of American slavery, when many Christians rested content with "incremental" bills regulating the slave trade, so today many of God's people are comfortable with some child-killing, bringing the guilt of innocent blood on themselves.

We don't have to wander the wilderness of "abortion regulation", staining our hands with the blood of the innocent children our legislation permits to be murdered. No! We can enter the Promised Land of "liberty and justice for all." "It is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these children should perish", and "if we ask anything in His name, believing we have received it, we will have it." Will you pray and believe with us? Will you help us?

Join our cause. Don't try to regulate the killing. Be an abortion abolitionist.

Climate Change Madness

Junk Science

Man-Caused - (first) Global Cooling, (then) Global Warming, and (now) Climate Change - is an Insidious Hoax Perpetrated by Leftists, Marxists, and Extreme Environmentalists who Desire to Reduce America to Third World Status...

Carbon Dioxide is necessary for the survival plant life, human and animal life on the planet. If (and I don't believe that it is) carbon dioxide is harmful to the planet, a near bankrupt America doesn't have the resources to do anything significant to impact it...We would be wasting more money...

Environmental extremists and Marxists are driving this foolish movement...

There are many scientist who reject the notion of man-caused climate change... indeed, much more than the 2% implied by this grossly biased article...

I wrote and posted these comments in response to an AlterNet.org article this morning. That very biased article was titled, "Ridiculous pseudo--science garbage": Meet the GOP's environment leaders! What do the 8 Republicans who sit on the Senate Environment Committee think about climate change? We break it down."

If anything is "ridiculous" "pseudo-science" and "garbage" it is the notion or theory or opinion that man has been the primary cause of changes in climate. Like the tightly held religious belief of 'believers' of the flawed theory of evolution, these man-caused climate change believers are essentially truth deniers. The so-called scientists and academics had to falsify the data to 'prove' their point about climate change (ClimateGate). The media, academia and government still put stock in those discredited studies...

Does the Mother's Severe Illness Justify Aborting Her Baby?

by Dr. Patrick Johnston

I grieve when I look at the lawless, immoral, unconstitutional fake pro-life bills that are being pushed in Texas and in other states. It is so discouraging to see the thousands of earnest pro-life Christians rallying for a feel-good bill that doesn't really protect children. As Tom Hoefling said, "When evil has a phony fight with evil, and good doesn't show up on the field, evil wins, every time."

What's wrong with the Texas "20 week" bill? Itcreates a new class of sub-humans who may be destroyed; namely, those who they claim cannot "feel pain." The bill also justifies abortion in cases of rape, whether the baby feels pain or not. Moreover, the bill contains language which nullifies itself if its restrictions are found to impose an "undue burden" or "substantial obstacle" in the path of any woman in her attempt to abort her baby. It's almost as if abortionists wrote a bill and tricked pro-lifers into supporting it.

April's edition of Answers magazine, which is produced by the Christian ministry Answers in Genesis and Ken Ham, highlights an article written by AIG author Dr. Tommy Mitchell that justifies abortion in a case of maternal health. He gives the example of a pregnant woman with leukemia who requires immediate chemotherapy. The chemotherapy may likely kill the baby, he argues, so the abortion is justified.
In spite of being presented with evidence of scientific studies showing that chemotherapy is "relatively safe" for preborn children and not as dangerous as once thought, they have held their ground and refuse to budge on their justification for the killing of some babies.
In a face to face meeting early this year, AIG leaders also justified abortion in cases of HELLP syndrome. While speaking at a homeschool convention this summer, I had the honor of meeting Darren and Michelle Blough, and their two beautiful children Moriyah and Nathaniel, both of whom were born in spite of HELLP syndrome. Babies can survive it! You don't have to kill babies to save their mothers!
The Blough family
With the second pregnancy, Michelle also had eclampsia, and kidney failure. She was on dialysis and had a dozen units of blood. She was intubated. What would have saved the mother's life, according to the physicians? "Terminating the pregnancy," of course. I thank God that they listened to the voice of conscience and God's Word, and not the voice of godless physicians who think it's okay to sometimes kill helpless babies.
A baby AIG justified killing
Moriyah, a baby that Answers in Genesis leaders justify aborting
As the Blough family's testimony shows, killing babies isn't good healthcare after all. And it's not good pro-life policy either, for it abandons God's blessing for a bill the devil could "Amen," and perpetuates the abortion holocaust.
A more thorough refutation of AIG's position on justify abortion in cases of maternal health, see my article "With the Compromise of Answers in Genesis, a Giant Has Fallen."

What Does the Bible Say About Abortion?

There have been a lot of comments to the radical leftist Alternet.org article, There's Nothing About Abortion in the Bible -- So How Do Right-Wing Christians Justify Their Crusade Against Women? The modern religious right is trying to bring back the Bible's teaching that women are inferior and should be the possessions of men.” I joined the ‘discussion’ and here is one of my comments:

The person growing inside of the pregnant woman IS a person. A person is a person no matter how small! Deny the truth if you will, but truth if accepted and acknowledged, will set you free...

Early on during his or her life the baby feels pain, it responds to stimuli, it moves, it feels. How do you know he does not perceive his environment? How do you know it is not learning? How do you know it is not hearing? What makes you think that it is not conscious?

Actually as every human being, including the pre-born child has a fallen nature. It is prone to evil once it arrives in the world and is mature enough to choose good or evil. The baby is innocent from the standpoint that it has never been given the opportunity to choose good or evil. Also in a rape the pre-born baby is clearly the victim of a crime. It is the perpetrator of the crime whose life should be taken, not the child who has never had any opportunity to make good or bad choices...

It is ludicrous to compare a baby with a kidney or any body part! You deny reality and truth and science when you refuse to acknowledge that the pre-born baby is a unique person, a dependent human being! There are three people involved in a pregnancy, the father, the mother and the baby...

Right now there is no punishment for having an abortion. The depraved and bigoted SCOTUS took upon itself the role of God when it ruled to make the immoral, godless, decision to allow abortion.

The punishment women get now - in more cases than the Left is willing to admit - by merely getting an abortion is a life of remorse, possible physical problems like infertility, guilt, emptiness, depression… This in and of itself is punishment. But the abortion industry like the Planned Parenthood Federation of America regrettably hide the facts of the negative aspects of abortion from the mothers in order to fill their blood stained coffers... that is reality...Wake Up America...

Reaganomics and Obamanomics Contrasted

I saw this tweet just now which says it all. President Barack Obama's economic policies (or lack of policies) are driving America to ruin as cleverly demonstrated in this Senator Ted Cruz's tweet:

Amnesty, Illegal Immigration and Border Security

This post is a response to an earlier post by GregJaye.

There should never be amnesty even after the borders are secured. The Constitution forbids all Ex Post Facto laws (at both the federal and state levels). This means that it is illegal to pass a law which would change the punishment for a crime that has already been committed. (It works both ways--you can’t legislatively increase or reduce the punishment.) Immigration law can be changed so that future violators are not punished as harshly, but whatever punishment was prescribed at the time that the violation occurred, must be carried out or else the government is derelict in its duty. The Constitution does give the Congress the authority to restrict immigration.

This does not necessarily mean that there cannot be “a path to citizenship” for illegal immigrants as long as it is allowed by the law that was in place at the time that the violation occurred.

The only other *possible* Constitutional remedy is for the Executive to grant pardons to the violators, but this must be done one at a time. (But I am not sure that the pardoning power that the Framers had in mind really goes as far as we have taken it today.)

I am a believer in freedom for all. I do not believe that crossing a border is evil except in extenuating circumstances (e.g. for security reasons we must keep out violent criminals). I do not believe in punishing people for something that is not evil. (The Bible says that you will be judged by the same measure that you judge other people.) Even though the Constitution gives the Congress the authority to restrict immigration (for virtually any reason), that doesn’t mean that they have to exercise this power for no good reason. There wouldn’t be an illegal immigration problem if immigration hadn’t been made illegal in the first place! If an honest person wants to come to America and give an honest day’s work in exchange for an honest day’s pay, then why not let them do it?

And yes, of course we do need to secure the borders because the Congress is required by the Constitution “to protect the States from invasion”.

The other problem with this issue is "birthplace location citizenship".  This problem is caused by the so called 14th Amendment and by the outrageous interpretation of its phrase "under the jurisdiction thereof".  Requirements for citizenship should be much higher than the requirements to immigrate into the U.S.

A Prayer for Independence Day

Sovereign God, You created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in them in six days.
You created Man in Your Image and cast him out of the Garden when he sinned.
When every thought of man was only evil all of the time, You destroyed the Earth with water.
You delivered Your people from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh.
You brought them through the Sea on dry ground.
When Your people turned away from You, You sent them prophets to warn them.
When they stoned Your holy messengers, You sent the Babylonians to punish Your people for their idolatry and injustice.
When the enemies of Your people destroyed their cities and their land, You preserved the words of your holy prophets.
You sent Your Son to redeem all those who would believe in Him and repent of their sins.
You called apostles and holy prophets to write the words of Your Son Jesus and the words of the New Covenant with Your Children.
When the enemies of God again killed the holy prophets and apostles, the Church grew like wildfire.
When they killed those who translated Your Holy Bible into English, You preserved and multiplied their work and opened the eyes of the people.
The Pilgrims escaped persecution to find a better land and were preserved by Your mighty hand.
You guided them to a great land and made them very prosperous and gave them liberty.
You defeated the armies of the British when they harassed us with swarms of officers. You blessed us with the means of throwing off their oppressive yoke.
When we mistreated the Negroes of our land, you punished us with a bloody war and took away many of our freedoms.
When we again turned further away from You, You allowed more of our freedoms to be taken away.
We have murdered babies, glorified detestable behaviors, stolen from one another, and forgot the words of the Holy Bible which You gave us.
You punished us with more wars by giving us greedy, corrupt and foolish leaders.
We have prayed for the economy in vain.  We have prayed for peace in vain.  Our soldiers die in vain.
You will not hear us because we cherish sin in our hearts and have no regard for Your law.
Dear Lord, please help us to humble ourselves so that we will turn from our wicked ways,
And You will hear Us from Heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land.
Please help us to listen when You speak to us!

SCOTUS Ruling on Marriage

The Supreme Court ruled that a portion of DOMA is unconstitutional.  This was the portion which does not allow same-sex couples to be included in the definition of marriage for purposes of Federal law.  They did not strike down the portion of DOMA which allows the states to keep their definitions of marriage.  They decided not to rule on the constitutionality of California's Proposition 8, which defined marriage as being between one man and one woman in the state of California.

What this means is that any federal law which provides immunities or privileges (i.e. tax breaks) for married couples must also apply for same-sex couples who considered to be married by the laws in the state in which they reside.  This is unacceptable.  The government should never encourage sinful behavior.

The reasoning that the court gave for this is that federal government had no authority to punish people for engaging in a homosexual relationship.  But what about people who are NOT gay, but are not married?  Isn't it just as wrong to punish them (if depriving someone of a tax break is to be considered a punishment)?  A what about the court's ruling that the federal mandate to purchase health insurance is just a tax?  They are saying that the federal government can "punish" you (by making you pay more taxes) for not purchasing health insurance (which includes abortion coverage) and it can "punish" you for not choosing to be single, but it cannot "punish" you for choosing a same-sex partner rather than an opposite-sex partner .

In my opinion, conservatives in Congress should abolish all Federal laws which contain the word "marriage".  That way, no homosexual couple would get any tax breaks and the federal government will not be promoting sinful behavior by these tax laws and other laws which give people special rights.  In most, if not all, cases these were bad laws to begin with.  Congress should repeal the Estate tax so that entering a homosexual relationship does not give you a tax break.  You shouldn't have to pay an inheritance tax no matter who you inherit from.  But I don't think that any of my ideas will go over with even the so called "conservatives" in Congress.  That would make too much sense.  They don't do anything right.

The other thing that I would point out is that this may never have happened if the Marriage Protection Act had passed.  Ron Paul supported this bill, but Rick Santorum did not.  Conservatives need to examine the voting records of candidates more closely and not pay too much attention to their rhetoric.  Click the Marriage Protection Act label below.
