Gonzales Should Apologize


Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is in the hot seat for firing 8 U.S. Attorneys. He has apologized for the way he went about the firings, but not that he did it. Congressional Democrats are saying that some U.S. attorneys were dismissed for either investigating Republicans or failing to pursue cases against Democrats. Top Justice Department officials told Congress that the firings were based on the prosecutors' performance.

Were these firings really improper or illegal? Who cares? I contend that Gonzales really should be apologizing to the unborn for is not getting rid of all 93 U.S. Attorneys and replacing them with ones who would start prosecuting abortion doctors and those who consent to it. The President of the United States is sworn to uphold the Constitution which says, “…nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of law.” (Amendment XIV section 1) In a statement concerning Gonzales’ recent statements, Justice Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said "how important the U.S. attorneys are to him as his representatives in the communities they serve and as prosecutors charged with protecting their communities from violent criminals, drug dealers and predators." Unfortunately, neither Bush nor Gonzales consider an unborn baby to be a person under the law, and therefore they don’t see abortionists as violent criminals or predators. To them it is just a matter of States’ rights and/or deterring promiscuity and/or getting votes from pro-lifers.
