Additionally, to the atheist, non-Christians and many activist judges and politicians in this society, “freedom” is the right to be free of any exposure to God, Jesus Christ and true Christianity in government, the public square, our schools, etc. For example, the ACLU, Americans for the Separation of Church and State, People for the “American” Way and others are working to remove the 10 commandment plaques, “One Nation under God” from our Pledge of Allegiance and Nativity scenes, etc from public display.
Freedom, therefore, to a radical leftist means something entirely different in contrast to what it means to a “radical” patriot. The following array of quotes is meant to provoke thought in this mid week birthday celebration of America and to see the difference in the meaning of freedom.
.
TWO FREEDOMS
“There are two freedoms -- the false, where a man is free to do what he likes; the true, where he is free to do what he ought.”
--- Charles Kingsley
“Freedom is just another word for "nothing to lose."
--- Kris Kristofferson
“Everything can be taken from a man but ... the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”
--- Victor Frankl
“For what avail the plough o sail,
Or land or life, if freedom fail?”
“Boston” Stanza 15--- Ralph Waldo Emerson
