The Texas Straw Poll & the September GOP Debates

Last weekend Representative Duncan Hunter (R-CA) won the straw poll in Texas. He is one of my favorite candidates. I do not like any of the top three current Republicans who are for the most part clones of George Bush, liberals or neo-conservatives in conservative clothing. I certainly hope that one of the so-called second tier candidates emerges from the field to be THE GOP candidate for President next November. Otherwise we will have two very pitiful choices for President.

Tonight former Senator Fred Thompson and still undeclared Presdiential candidate will be missing from the GOP debate in New Hampshire. I am hopeful that one or more of the second so-called second tier will step up to join the top tier and maybe even bump one or two of the so-called top tier candidates off their media-created and media-propped up pedestal. We desparately need a strong and true conservative in the mix.

I am looking forward to the conservative GOP debate coming up later this month, which will be held in Fort Lauderdale. This is a real opportunity for a true conservative to surface as a representative of the conservative element of America, which I believe includes the vast majority of Americans. Representatives Hunter and Tom Tancredo (R-CO), former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS) would all make better candidates than anyone else currently in the field.
