Words to Live By

Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert to be tested by the devil (Matthew 4: 1-4).  After fasting forty days and nights Jesus was hungry.  This of course would be natural.  Satan, who is the tempter, came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”  Have you ever had someone say to you, “If you are a Christian, do this or that?”  That is exactly the same kind of temptation which Jesus faced.

Jesus answered, “It is written:  Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Bread provides energy for our cells and nutrients needed for the body to sustain life.  God is saying that bread is not enough to sustain life and provide energy.  Every word of God is needed by individuals just as much as bread is absolutely necessary for life and growth.  Without the word of God proper development is not obtained by an individual.
What about you, my friend?  Are you getting the proper nourishment from God’s word for your life?

Furthermore, Jesus also said, “I am the Bread of Life.  He that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” (John 6:35).
Have you ever personally believed on Jesus, come to Him, repented of your sin, and asked Him to forgive you of your sins?
