Unfairness Doctrine: “Silencing the Conservative Voice”

On Wednesday I wrote an article about Senate Bill 1 (S.1) and its deadly Section 220. Well, good news the Senate voted to amend (Amendment 20) this bill and to purge the grassroots lobby destroying provision. Thank God. Kudos, too, to the 53 Senators, both Democratic and GOP, who voted for this crucial amendment. I was glad to see Senator Voinovich (R – Ohio – sometimes okay) vote for Amendment 20, and as expected newly elected extreme liberal Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio – unfortunately) voted against this amendment.

The defeated Section 220 of Senate Bill 1 (S.1) tried to silence grassroots organizations, primarily the conservative groups, though the liberal groups would also be affected. However the liberal groups would be affected to a much lesser degree just because they have not been as effective as conservative groups. This was but the first salvo of legislative attacks that can be expected from the leftist liberals leading this Congress. Next we can have to deal with legislation calling for a “Hate Crimes” bill as well as legislation that will try to reinstate the misnamed “Fairness” Doctrine legislation. God willing, I will talk about “Hate Crimes” legislation in a future article. We will now look at the “Fairness” Doctrine.

IMDB, the Earth’s Biggest Movie Database ™, of all places, had an item on its website entitled “The Return of the Fairness Doctrine”. It reported that radial left wing liberal Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio – unfortunately) and newly elected socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) “indicated that they plan to introduce legislation this year that would require the FCC to restore the Fairness Doctrine, a rule that once compelled broadcasters to present all sides of controversial issues. Kucinich said that he will chair a new House subcommittee of the House Government Reform Committee that will hold hearings on the role of the FCC and consider reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. Most analysts agreed that the rule would have little effect on broadcast television networks, which generally attempt to observe at least the spirit of the Fairness Doctrine, which was overturned in 1987 during the Reagan administration. But it would play havoc with talk radio stations, which currently are dominated by conservative hosts. Today's (Wednesday) New York Daily News quoted
Rush Limbaugh as saying that the calls for reinstatement amount to a "hush Rush" campaign. Michael Harrison, editor of Talkers magazine, told the newspaper that the Fairness Doctrine "did nothing except chill free speech." He added, "Talk radio owes its explosive growth over the last 20 years to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine." Other experts doubted that it could be reinstated, noting that President Bush would almost certainly veto any legislation to do so.”

I would expect to see this bill raise its ugly face sooner rather than later in the 110th Congress with the radical Speaker Nancy “The Most Powerful Woman in the World” Pelosi running the San Francisco show and the renegade ultra liberal and failed Presidential candidate Kucinich squeaking, squalling and spewing his liberal drivel. We conservative and Christian conservatives must be very vigilant of some liberal slight of hand sneaking into some bill this dangerous piece of legislation. The main stream media, CBS, CNN, NBC and ABC and most major newspapers have a not so subtle bent on the way they present the news. They are as ex-CBS reporter Bernard Goldberg's book title denotes "Bias".

If the media agrees with the leftist liberal slant it (the media) is considered “fair” and “objective” and seen as “generally attempt(ing) to observe at least the spirit of the Fairness Doctrine” as quoted in the IMDb piece above. However, IMDb and liberal supporters alike would contend that the “Fairness” Doctrine would “play havoc with talk radio stations, which currently are dominated by conservative hosts”, that is any conservative “bias” in the media is seen as stifling free speech. “All” that the liberals want to do is give both sides an equal chance to express themselves (on conservative talk radio shows or stations). Why is this not the case on broadcast TV or the newspaper or NPR or PBS? The reason is for the reason I had stated previously, if you agree with the liberal leftist that is not “bias” it is “fair” and “objective”. This is one of the prime tactics of the lying leftist liberals. Change the meaning of words “bias” like “tolerance” means agreeing with our view (the liberal agenda or view) otherwise you are biased and intolerant bigoted fascists . . . It is okay for us (liberals to have a one-sided media dominated by the liberal elite) but it is not okay for a market driven successful conservative talk show industry because the espouse views too different than our and present a roadblock to the complete socialization and indoctrination of this society to the liberal “right” way.

Make A Good Choice and defeat all of the leftist attempts to ram through the completely unneeded “Fairness” Doctrine. The rise of the conservative talk show, bloggers and other alternative media have merely leveled somewhat an otherwise unleveled playing field.
