What is the Greatest Sin of All?

Ever since man’s disobedience to God in the Garden of Eden, man has been working to outdo himself in being as offensive as he could to His Creator. What is the greatest sin? Is it abortion? Is it homosexual behavior? Is it murder? Is it rape? Is it child molestation? Is it lying? Is it theft? No, it is none of these!

Hardcore Muslims believe that theft warrants the amputation of a hand. Hardcore Muslims believe that conversion to Christianity warrants a beheading as well as being a Christian or Jew.

Hindus teach that killing a cow is the ultimate sin. After all isn’t the cow sacred, she could be your long dead cousin, Veronica.

What is the greatest sin? Let’s look at a few other questions first.

ARE ALL PEOPLE SINNERS?

Yes, every person who ever lived, who is living now are or who will live in the future will be sinners. There is one exception.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO LIVE A SINLESS LIFE?

No, it is not possible for any human, neither “holy” man, pauper or CEO to live a sinless life. Anyone who says that they have no sin is self-deceived, delusional.

There is one exception to this general rule, however. Only one person claims to have never sinned and that is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Although Jesus was tempted in all points as we are, yet He did not sin.

WHAT THEN IS THE GREATEST SIN?

The Judeo Christian Bible in both the Old Testament and the New Testament identifies the greatest sin as pride. Satan was proud by reason of his beauty and splendor and thus he corrupted his wisdom, thinking he could replace God with himself. It seems there are a lot of people who think that way about themselves today.
