The Golden Compass (2007) Leads Nowhere

The Golden Compass is part 1 of the terrible trilogy

“Few flicks are golden and this one is surely fools’ gold.” --- gregjaye

There is a war underway for the hearts and minds of Americans, including and especially children. One battlefront, the movies, is where Hollywood continues to shell audience with immoral, violent and anti-God and anti-American values heavy artillery. The latest weapon of mass destruction rolling out of Hollywood’s munitions plant is The Golden Compass.

The Golden Compass movie has earned a strong parental warning and advisory from American Family Association websites
OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com, which are alerting Christians to the potential dangers of The Golden Compass. The alert is being issued “Because of (author Philip) Pullman’s clearly articulated anti-Christian motives, we are warning all movie-goers to avoid the film.”

Joining the onemilliondads.com warning about this seductive, subversive and destructive film is the Catholic League, which has kicked off a two-month campaign against a children's fantasy film that features a young girl on a mission to kill God. OneNewsNow.com reports that “Next month (December 7th), The Golden Compass opens in theaters nationwide. The movie is based on the first novel in a series called His Dark Materials by British author Philip Pullman, an outspoken atheist. The film is set in a parallel universe, where people's souls are manifested as demons -- in animal form . . .”

Bill Donahue of the
Catholic League is concerned that the movie could cause unsuspecting parents to get the books for their children.

"The protest is not because the movie is going to be so shocking," Donahue explains. "The protest is this: it comes out at Christmastime, it's all done deliberately, it's all calculated. If unsuspecting Christian parents bring their kids to see this movie, they might find it not troubling," he says. "All the more reason then they may want to buy the trilogy [of books] for their kids as a Christmas gift.

"This is pernicious," he continues. "This is selling atheism to kids, and it's doing it in a backdoor fashion." In a press release, the Catholic League president accuses the film's producers of conducting a "deceitful stealth campaign" to push the anti-Christian books."

Author G. P. Taylor wrote in an article on MovieGuide.org website saying, ”We are living in an age when so many things will come and try and destroy the Christian heritage of the American nation. We will have to fight to preserve it. THE GOLDEN COMPASS is yet another salvo against us. We must never forget that God is supreme and when the works of Pullman - like that of Voltaire are forgotten books, the Word will be still alive. I only hope that in writing SHADOWMANCER, WORMWOOD, TERSIAS, and my other books that children and young people will get an alternative view of a great God.”

Parents and Americans, you have been warned. Take heed lest you fall.

RATING

Rating is at least one negative * out of *****. In fact, Hollywood should give the public a star back . . . An atheistic indoctrination by an atheist author, who wrote his series to offset the positive affect of the Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis. Not merely Godless, it is an anti-God movie, fit for the comrades of the former Soviet Union or of the current Communist Red China . . . Stay way away from this profane movie. Don’t buy a ticket. Don’t rent or buy the DVD. Don’t even watch it on cable or free TV. It is that bad.
