Is being a Christian a good thing?

Sam recently completed a 10-part series, How I know Barack Obama is not a Christian. Today he responds to a comment made in reaction to one of his recent posts.

“As if being a Christian is a good thing?”

Evidently, Barack Hussein Obama considers being a Christian important, or otherwise he would not be trying to gain acceptance from others as a Christian. He at least feels it is important politically (for public relations purposes), even while behaving as if it has no temporal or eternal spiritual relevance or consequence.

I consider being a Christian important because I do not want to perish. God the Father considers being a Christian important because He sent His only begotten to save the world so it would not perish. Jesus came into this world to save those who were going to perish.

Jesus said, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Personally I prefer eternal life over perishing.

Eternal life comes from having a personal relationship with God that will last forever. To 'perish' means to burn in agony in the Lake of Fire endlessly. This does not appeal to me. Does it appeal to you?
