Ohio Heartbeat Bill, Report 9/20/2011

Ohio Senate Atrium, Capitol Building, Columbus, Ohio
Tuesday, September 2011

AGC Columbus, Ohio   The Ohio House of Representatives passed the Heartbeat Bill this past June. The Bill sits in the Senate waiting to be brought up, voted on, and hopefully will be passed and signed by Governor John Kasich this year. A rally was held today in the Atrium of the Senate Office Building in Downtown Columbus. The 3 hour rally started at 11:00 AM. By the time I found reasonable parking accommodations and walked to the Capitol, I was about 20 minutes late. There were a variety of Pro-Life activists, current and former state and federal members of Congress.

Janet (Folger) Porter was instrumental in organizing this rally for life. She talked about seeing a bumper sticker, which read “Abortion Stops A Beating Heart.” Passage of this bill would alter that motto transforming the above motto into, “A Beating Heart Stops Abortion!

A few of the other speakers included: Rev. Jim Garlow, of Prop 8 fame, flew in from California to encourage those gathered and challenged the church to get more involved in the movement. The 83 year-old founder of the National Right to Life organization, Dr. Jack Wilke gave a cogent and confident message encouraging all to press on. Jill Stanek, RN reminded the standing room only audience that not only is President Barack Obama pro-abortion he is also pro-infanticide, as demonstrated by his votes against partial-birth abortion when he was an Illinois state senator!

What is the Heartbeat Bill? It is a Pro-Life measure that would protect pre-born babies in Ohio from the time that a fetal heartbeat is first detected. That would save a lot of babies, who are otherwise denied their God-given right to life. Regrettably this is not the best law. However, it is the best to date.

Throughout the 3-hour gathering, this groups "Pass the Bill" chant was so meaningful and inspirational in comparison to the empty haunting chants at Obama's recent campaign stops.

The ultimate solution would be for each state to pass a Personhood Amendment, which would protect every human being from the very moment of conception.

The following is the email, which I sent to the Pro-Life Senators in Ohio:

Dear Senator -

Until Ohioans can vote for a Personhood Constitutional Amendment, I strongly encourage you and the other members of the Ohio Senate to pass the Heartbeat Bill as soon as possible. As you know, HB 125 will protect the unborn babies from the time their heartbeats are detected. This is not the ultimate solution, but it is an important intermediate step.

The most basic right of any human being is the right to life, which is pointed out in the U.S. Declaration of Independence. All other rights emanate from that right. Thank you for being a past supporter of the Life issue.

I have already contacted my own State Senator (Kris Jordan) and hope both of you will vote for this important bill!

Sincerely,

- gregjaye

To the majority (all but one!) of Pro-Death Democrat Senators and the one apparent Pro-Death Republican I modified the above email slightly:

Dear Senator -

I strongly encourage you and the Ohio Senate to pass the Heartbeat Bill as soon as possible. As you know, HB 125 will protect the unborn babies from the time their heartbeats are detected.

The most basic right of any human being is the right to life, which is pointed out in the U.S. Declaration of Independence. All other rights emanate from this right. Black babies and other minorities, in particular, have been targeted by abortionists such as Planned Parenthood. (See http://www.maafa21.com/). We must stop this genocide and this American atrocity! …
