Newt: How Sarah Palin Threatens the Left

The Sarah-Factor

Here is an article to compliment to the terrific Sarah cartoons recently posted on this blog.

Yesterday morning (Friday) former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, gave a speech at the Values Voters Summit held this weekend in Washington, D.C. In part of his message he spoke of Governor Sarah Palin, who brings a different perspective to the current crop of candidates in the presidential race. It is not just because she is a woman, which is something significant in itself. More important she is a conservative Christian woman which offends the liberals as nothing else besides maybe a tax cut could or the reduction of some federal entitlement program.

The following is an excerpt I just transcribed from the Gingrich speech. It was phenomenal. It is only the last portion of a powerful speech laying bare the inner belly of the leftwing socialism of elitist Senators Barack Hussein Obama and his “ruining” mate Joe “the Plagiarizer” Biden, the media and their feminist friends for all to take a gander. It ain’t pretty.

PALIN MEANS LIFE

“. . . I’d like to mention another topic where the gap is so big and the elite media will try to disguise it so decisively, and that is the topic of life.

“Governor Palin has made several difficult choices. And I suspect by the values of virtually every person in this room, they have been the right choices. She knew that her youngest child would probably be born with Down Syndrome, and she decided that she would love him and cherish him, and she would raise him. And that was a heroic choice. Sadly for many of our elites that was the wrong choice. That is why the Democratic Chairman in South Carolina could say that her only qualification for Vice President was that she did not have an abortion. Now that was two days ago and I thought that was sick. It wasn’t quite as sick as the Democrat (Cohen) from Tennessee who stood on the floor of the U.S. House and implied that the right comparison for Senator Obama was Jesus Christ and the right comparison for Governor Palin was Pontius Pilate. That WAS truly sick.

“But it tells you how rattled they (the left, the Democrats, the feminists) are.

.
PALIN THREATENS THE LEFT PHILOSOPHICALLY

"Then Governor Palin was faced with a challenge in her own family. The challenge, which was by the way, many families have had, and many families have lived with, and many families have grown up with, and I’ll bet every one of you can search in your extended network of relatives and friend and see people who have made these decisions.

"Now that will be characterized by the elites as a “hard-right, intolerant” position. Frankly they are faced with the great crisis of their movement

"Governor Palin violates EVERY NORM they (feminist left) have.

"She is tough.
She is smart.
She
is articulate.
She is happy.
She has five kids.
She has a very hard-working husband, who is a UNION member.
She is an NRA life member.
She actually goes to church and PRAYS.

"I mean the list just gets “worse.”

"She negotiated with Big Oil and got a very good deal for Alaska and gave it back as a $1,300 a-person tax cut. If you see that much money leaving bureaucracy and going to people, you know as a liberal there is something DANGEROUS about this woman.

"So they look at her and she poses – this is the threat – and you all need to understand what the next seven weeks will be like. She poses two enormous threats for the left.

"The first is existential. If a person I just described (Governor Sarah Palin) could survive as a national figure, she has shattered the ability of leftwing feminists to define legitimate behavior by woman in America and they will never recover.
.
PALIN THREATENS THE LEFT PRACTICALLY
.
"But there is a second threat. Up until Thursday a week ago, when Senator Obama went out on the Brittany Spears production stage. That is what it was, it was not a Greek temple. It was a Brittany Spears production stage done by Brittany Spears’ production company. The weirdest thing I ever saw, because the McCain campaign people ran a commercial that had Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears in it. Then they (the Obama campaign) hired Brittany Spears' production company to do it. How can you be mad, when it is accurate?

"But if you go back and read that speech (by Obama) as of that night Senator Obama was sort of confident. He thought he knew what Senator McCain was going to do. He thought it was going to be a traditional Republican ticket. That looked like a traditional Republican ticket. He thought he was going to get away with the greatest mistake of his political career, which was the failure to pick (Senator) Hillary Clinton.

"Now why is that a mistake? I know most of you would never vote for Hillary. She got 18 million votes. Okay, Biden got 9,000 votes. Now that means Senator Clinton got 2,000 votes for every vote Biden got.
Had he picked her, had he shown he was strong enough to have both Bill and Hillary with him without being intimidated. I think he would have had a ticket that would have been very very very hard for us to beat. But he didn’t do that. He flinched. And when he flinched he – remember this is the candidate of change – this is the candidate of a new politics – this is the candidate who was going to change Washington – he picked instead of Senator Clinton, he picked a US Senator who elected when (Governor) Sarah Palin was nine. And who has spent 35 years riding Amtrak from Wilmington to Washington. That means that Joe Biden’s entire travel career is less than from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Governor Palin has had an entire state; he has had a railroad car. You decide who has had more experience.

"What John McCain did the next day (Friday) . . . Thursday night, Obama thinks he is at the peak of his experience, he knows he is ready, he knows what campaign he is going to run, and he knows what McCain is going to do. Then the next day, McCain changes the entire game. And by the way, on this experience thing, just remember. . . the state of Alaska has an $11 bilion dollar a year budget and 29,000 full- and part-time employees. A U.S. Senate office has a $4.2 million dollar budget with 60 employees. So if you want to get into who has done what . . . In addition, let me put it a step further ,. . . you want to talk about experience Governor Palin as the Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard has spent 2 days in Kuwait and Iraq and Senator Obama has spent five. So his massive experience is three extra days.

"Let’s just understand here they got themselves into a fight. They have both an existential ideological reason to destroy Governor Palin and they have a very practical campaign reason – she is now more interesting on college campuses than Obama, she is more of change agent than Obama. And and the contrast between a mother of five, raising all five children, and the Obama
defense of infanticide by abortion doctors in the legislature in Illinois is such an enormous gap. That, I believe, when every American understands that Senator Obama in the state legislature blocked a bill to require abortion doctors to help babies if they were born alive and blocked the bill after a nurse talked about holding a baby for forty-five minutes while it was dying, because
the doctor would not help. I think that the gap between these two views – he’s got about 15% of the country and the other 85% is going to find it totally, utterly unacceptable."

Wow, although I am not 100% pro-Newt, the man is a great thinker and communicator. He outlined clearly the current political, culture, social and spiritual environment in which we now live. He clearly outlined the Sarah-factor in the 2008 Presidential race.

Democrats have a puzzle with a code name "Palin Problem". They have to solve it, and to do it effectively, because the prize is the White House.
Sarah is everywhere these days. No matter, if there are negative responses, rumors and resentments; or praises, support and encouragements. She filled media, and not only in America. Palinmania is spreading all over the world - everybody has their opinion on the new political celebrity of US.
The Palin avalanche is winning against Obama inundation. How should Democrats defeat her? Would it be better just keep their line of campaign and ignore populist idol of Republicans? Or should they put out their claws, oppose her and show her the real politics? http://www.votetheday.com/polls/to-defeat-palin-260/ - give advice to Democrats, if you think there still is an effective advice for them...
