Vote for a Conservative Congress, 5: Steve Pearce (R-NM)

For a Conservative Senate
.

This will be part of an on-going series, which will identify key races where we either need to retain strong conservatives or to elect strong conservatives. My personal feeling with being faced with two inferior candidates for President offered by our major political parties, we must turn our attention to insuring more conservative American-values oriented persons are elected to the U.S. Congress.

THE RACE

The next congressional race that we will highlight is the New Mexico seat in the United States Senate. I suggest that all conservatives in New Mexico and elsewhere support Representative Steve Pearce (R-NM), Republican candidate to replace retiring Sen. Pete Domenici.

He is a strong pro-life and pro-family leader. Pearce is my kind of guy. He is rated 0% by the pro-homosexual advocate Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and 0% by the pro-abortion industry’s association NARAL. He is also for domestic drilling. He would be a much needed conservative voice in the Senate.

THE RATING & THE OPPONENT

Pearce is rated as a hard-core conservative. Like his opponent he has given up his seat in the U.S. House to run for this office. See
OnTheIssues.com.

Congressman Pearce’s opponent is Representative Tom Udall. Udall is rated as a hard-core liberal. He “boasts” a 75% rating by the pro-homosexual HRC and a 100% rating by the pro-abortion NARAL.

THE REALITIES

According to the latest (9/10/08) Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Democrat Tom Udall leading Republican Steve Pearce 51% to 44%. This will be a very close race. The gap has been closing. Maybe a strong McCain win could pull Rep. Pearce over the finish line.

This will be a very interesting election to watch. Pearce is a much truer and stronger conservative than the moderate John Sidney McCain, while Udall may not be as liberal as the most liberal Senator in the US Senate, Barack Hussein Obama. In my book Pearce would make a better president than either McCain or Obama.

THE RESOURCES

To support Congressman Steve Pearce, which I urge you to do, see his website, PeopleForPearce.com to learn more about him, to make a campaign contribution, to volunteer your service, etc.

  1. Again, a strong conservative on issues like abortion, marriage, and religious freedom, but support the lousy fiscal and foreign policy that has run the Republican Party into the ground.
