More on the First McCain-Obama Debate

The Opponents

Cartoon by Glenn McCoy as found on TownHall.com 9/29/08

The Winner

“Many in the mainstream media are calling Friday’s Presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama a tie.

“So, in other words, McCain won.”

- - - NewsBusted, Episode 9/30/08

The Conclusion

I grudgingly watched most of the debate. Why, I don't know. It did seem like McCain did land in enemy territory. PBS's Jim Lehrer slants leftward as does the radical liberal Barack Obama. I do not care for either candidate. Neither would be good for this country. However, I think that McCain won the debate, but that is not saying much. Both candidates seems to swing socialist and differ only in the matter of degree. McCain is a moderate socialist, while Obama tends to being an extreme socialist, a Saul Alinsky Marxist. Pick your poison, a slow death or a quicker killing.

Send South Dakota's Joel Dykstra to the U.S. Senate

For a Conservative Senate. Part 11

This will be part of an on-going series, which will identify key races where we either need to retain strong conservatives or to elect strong conservatives. My personal feeling with being faced with two inferior candidates for President offered by our major political parties, we must turn our attention to insuring more conservative American-values oriented persons are elected to the U.S. Congress.

Joel Dykstra for U.S. Senate from South Dakota

THE RACE

The next race that we will highlight is for U.S. Senate in South Dakota. Tim Johnson is incumbent senator. According to a Rasmussen Report in March of 2008, “Senator Johnson received national attention in late 2006, when he began suffering from severe health problems. The possibility arose that he might step down. That would have led to a Republican filling his Senate Seat and returned control of the Senate to the GOP. However, Johnson’s health has improved and he is currently serving his duties as Senator.

His opponent is South Dakota State Representative Joel Dykstra.

I suggest that all conservatives in South Dakota and elsewhere support State Representative Joel Dykstra, the Republican candidate.

THE RATINGS

State Rep. Dykstra is rated as a hard-core conservative and his opponent, Sen. Johnson is rated as a
Moderate Liberal Populist on the OnTheIssues.com website. Dykstra is pro-life and against same-sex unions, while his opponent is primarily pro-abortion and supports the homosexual agenda (hate crimes and against keeping marriage the exclusive domain of one man and one woman.)

THE REALITIES

Based on polling the picture does not look good for Dykstra. He trails in the polls by 20% or more. He will have a very tough battle this fall.

There are more Republican seats (23) in the U.S. Senate up for election than Democratic seats (12). Of the 12 Democratic seats only 3 are not considered very safe for the Democrats. Of the 3 safe seats only one, South Dakota has a strong conservative running in opposition. He is Joel Dykstra. It would take a huge miracle for conservatives to gain this seat. However, South Dakota leans Republican. On the ballot is Proposition 11, which would essentially outlaw abortions in that state. If the Proposition passes overwhelmingly it may also affect the Senate race if people connect the candidates positions on abortion. Dykstra definitely has a pro-life philosophy.

THE RESOURCES

To support State Representative Joel Dykstra, which I urge you to do, see his website,

No Bailout! Jail 'em Instead?

Just Say No! To The Bailout

Here is a copy of the letter I sent to my Senators regarding the unwarranted and unnecessary bailout proposed by President Bush and Treasury Secretary Paulson.

Dear Senator

I respectfully urge you to oppose the $700 Billion dollar bailout proposed by the President and the Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. First, we do not have the money and secondly, the speculators should not be rewarded or rescued for their foolishness.

It is time to stop spending what we do not have.

Please do all you can to stop this unnecessary bailout.

Also Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac must be reformed. Stop permitting those who do not qualify for loans or do not have sufficient income to receive loans.

Please insist that your colleagues come up with a solution that makes Congress and the financial institutions and companies more accountable.

Please to not burden the taxpayers or our children with more debt that we do not need. You penalize the responsible people for the action of an irresponsible Congress and irresponsible corporations.

Obama: Just Words, Just Speeches, Just Gaffes?

Senator Barack Hussein Obama is just another Chicago political hack and thug. He is best described as ‘the best orator a teleprompter can produce.’ He has made many gaffes during this campaign, but they are all ignored by the leftist mainstream media types. They are extremely biased toward him, wanting him to be elected our next President. Why not? They are predominately socialists driven by Marxist ideology. Here is one of the gaffes, which he made during Friday’s first McCain-Obama debate in Mississippi.

NewsBusters.com (the Media Research Center) reported (article titled, "Family Told Obama NOT To Wear Soldier Son's Bracelet... Where is Media?") Sunday (9/28/08) that the family of the soldier named on the bracelet worn by Barack Hussein Obama had requested that he NOT wear their son's bracelet any longer. They see him having used it for political gain as demonstrated somewhat ineffectively during the debate on Friday. Obama is a cheap two-bit politician, a punk, as shown by his using anything true or false to get elected. What a sham, what a shame!

"I've Got a Bracelet, Too" (Obama)

Here is a transcript of the above YouTube video:

MCCAIN: He was 22 years old and he was killed in combat outside of Baghdad, Matthew Stanley, before Christmas last year. This was last August, a year ago. And I said, “I will — I will wear his bracelet with honor.”

And this was August, a year ago. And then she said, “But, Senator McCain, I want you to do everything — promise me one thing, that you’ll do everything in your power to make sure that my son’s death was not in vain.”

That means that that mission succeeds, just like those young people who re-enlisted in Baghdad, just like the mother I met at the airport the other day whose son was killed. And they all say to me that we don’t want defeat.

A war that I was in, where we had an Army, that it wasn’t through any fault of their own, but they were defeated. And I know how hard it is for that — for an Army and a military to recover from that. And it did and we will win this one and we won’t come home in defeat and dishonor and probably have to go back if we fail.

OBAMA: Jim, let me just make a point. I’ve got a bracelet, too, from Sergeant - from the mother of Sergeant Ryan David Jopeck, sure another mother is not going through what I’m going through.

I like the comment made by Ed Morrissey on the HotAir.com website.

“Now, the point here was valid — not all Gold Star Mothers agree on Iraq, Cindy Sheehan being the most outré example of Obama’s constituency among them. Unfortunately, Obama fumbled the delivery on two points. First, his “I’ve got a bracelet, too” sounded whiny, childish, and petulant. Obama wanted to one-up McCain rather than make his point, and it came out defensive and petty instead of presidential.

Obama clearly prepared for this moment, knowing McCain would discuss his bracelet, but in those preparations, Obama didn’t commit the soldier’s name to memory. He had to look down at his bracelet to remember the name. McCain didn’t have to do that, which made Obama look much more manipulative in his presentation. It was a “tell”, a poker term for an involuntary physical manifestation of a player’s hand.

“Will this be a defining moment of this debate? Perhaps, although I doubt it will get much attention outside of the blogosphere . . .”

The Oneness of God Explored

Anonymous commented on my article, "Shining God’s Light on the Koran re: Abraham." The reader’s original comments are reproduced below.

”But you miss one thing, to be muslim to is believe in the oneness of God, what was revealed from God, judgement day, and to submit to God.

”So did Abraham (peace be upon him) believe in the oneness of God? YES

“Did he believe in what was revealed to him by God? Yes

“He did believe in Judgment day? YES

“Muslim has a broad meaning. In today's age since we consider that the message was completed by our beloved prophet peace be upon him (the last prophet), there is to be a muslim you have to believe in all that was revealed. And again, in today's age that would be the Koran.

“So yes, by this definition of Islam, Abraham was a Muslim. He submitted to god and never worshiped anyone or anything else.”

Dear Anonymous:

Oneness can refer to a single entity or several entities in union (1).

The Koran teaches that God is a single individual. This is shown by what the Koran states. The Ruler of the Universe; He has no equal (2). The Koran also says that the Supreme Ruler of the heavens and the earth has sired no offspring and is without an accomplice in His Supreme rulership (3).

Many cults, non-orthodox, and false Christians interpret the Holy Bible as meaning that God is one person. Passages which tend to support this concept are: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (4), and “Hear O Israel, the Lord your God is one Lord” (5).

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the word translated God in Genesis 1:1 is Elohim which is plural showing the plurality of God. Genesis 1:26 quotes God as saying, “Let us make man in our own image and after our likeness.” Genesis 3:22 quotes God as saying, “The man has become as one of us.” Again this shows plurality in God. The one in one Lord is also used in Genesis 11:6, “…the people is one.” That’s the same Hebrew word used for one as used in Deuteronomy 6:4. This shows that the one does not necessarily indicate a single person. For here we had many people referred to as one.

A Biblical passage that shows the unity of God in oneness is Isaiah 44:6. “Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and His redeemer the Lord of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last: and besides Me there is no God.” In this verse there are two people speaking the Lord God and His Redeemer the Lord of Hosts. In this verse there are two persons speaking which are referred to as one. Thus the plural and the singular are shown. In one verse we can see the many one and the singular one at the same time. This shows that God is multiple persons with the same essence instead of one individual.

Abraham was a Hebrew and his language shows that he was not a Moslem.

The Koran takes credit for writing the Holy Bible. The Koran’s description of God is different than the description of God given in the Holy Bible. Therefore, the writer of the Koran is not the writer of the Holy Bible.

God gives you the right to believe as you want. However, you cannot go to heaven believing what the Koran says.

You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble (6).

No Bailout!

Cartoon by Gary Varvel found on TownHall.com on 9/27/08

Death is Inevitable in Any War

Kwaayesnama commented on my article, "A Voting Strategy":

"In my bible the fifth commandment clearly states, “Thou shall not kill”.

I am a catholic and I do not belive in abortion, but I also feel strongly that you shall not MURDER.

John McCain, George Bush, Dick Chaney, and Condoleezza Rice are responsible for the murder of over 94,330 innocent people while they looked for nonexistent weapons of mass destruction. Of that total 4,164 were Americans. They are also responsible for the wounding of over 30,734.

Oh, K -

I, too, am opposed to abortion. The Vietnam War and the War on Terror Terror generated deaths are few compared to the ongong American atrocity of killing innocent babies. This is where all of America's moral outrage should be channeled.

What do you feel about capital punishment? I suspect that you would be opposed to it. I am not. A convicted murderer had his chance at life, he spit in the face of God and society by taking the life of another, so he should have his life taken.

War is different. I do not agree with the way President Bush has prosecuted the War on Terror in Iraq, but he made that decision and he felt it was the right thing to do. There were weapons of mass destruction. They went to Syria, transported there while this country and the worthless United Nations were dilly dallying around with sanctions and negotiations.

In every war their are casualties. It is inevitable. I served in the Vietnam war. I volunteered. That war was right in that we were trying to stop the communist takeover of Vietnam. The left in this country was successful in helping the Viet Cong win that war. The left in Congress and outside has done everything it could to undermine the American effort in Iraq. If you want to blame anyone for murder, it is the left, Senator Harry "surrender" Reid who caused the needless deaths of many by undermining of the war effort once undertaken. The congress had approved the war and its funding.

TD forwarded the following interesting information to us, regarding military deaths.

Military deaths by by year and ethnicity - interesting facts

Military Losses, 1980 thru 2007 Whatever your politics, however you lean, however you feel about the current administration, this report should open some eyes.

Military losses, 1980 through 2007. As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is, consider the following statistics:

The annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through 2006:

1980 ...........2,392 (Carter Year)
1981 ............2,380 (Reagan Year)
1984 .......... 1,999 (Reagan Year)
1988 .......... 1,819 (Reagan Year)
1989 .......... 1,636 (George H W Year)
1990 .......... 1,508 (George H W Year)
1991 .......... 1,787 (George H W Year)
1992 .......... 1,293 (George H W Year)
1993 .......... 1,213 ( Clinton Year
1994 .......... 1,075 ( Clinton Year)
1995 .......... 2,465 ( Clinton Year)
1996 .......... 2,318 ( Clinton Year) .

1997 ............ 817 ( Clinton Year)
1998 .......... 2,252 ( Clinton Year)
1999 .......... 1,984 ( Clinton Year)
2000 ...........1,983 ( Clinton Year)
2001 ............. 890 (George W Year)
2002 …...... 1,007 (George W Year)
2003 ........... 1,410 (George W Year)
2004 ........... 1,887 (George W Year)
2005 ............. 919 (George W Year)
2006.............. 920 (George W Year)
2007...............899 (George W Year)

Clinton years (1993-2000): 14,000 deaths
George W years (2001-2006): 7,932 deaths

If you are surprised when you look at these figures, so was I.

These figures mean that the loss from the two latest conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during Bill Clinton's presidency; when America wasn't even involved in a war!

And, I was even more shocked when I read that in 1980, during the reign of President (Nobel Peace Prize winner) Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities! I think that these figures indicate that many members of our Media and our Politicians will pick and choose the information on which they report. Of course we all know that they present only those 'facts which support their agenda-driven reporting. But why do so many of them march in lock-step to twist the truth? Where do so many of them get their marching-orders for their agenda?

Do you want further proof? Consider the latest census, of Americans. It shows the following FACTS about the distribution of American citizens, by Race:

European descent .....69.12%
Hispanic ................... 12.5%
Black ..........................12.3%
Asian .......................... 3.7%
Native American ....... 1.0%
Other........................... 2.6%

Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom:

European descent (white). .74.31%
Hispanic ..............................10.74%
Black .................................... 9.67%
Asian .................................... 1.81%
Native American ................. 1.09%
Other .....................................0.33%

I was surprised again... until it became clear to me that the point here is that our mainstream media continues to spin these figures (for political gain). Nothing more!!!

It's all about politics and some politicians are now famous for turning American against American for a vote. Consider Hillary Clinton's stump speech after her Super Tuesday 'victory' stating that the current administration does not listen' to anyone and continues the war costing precious American lives. Yes I might even agree with her, but she should be made to acknowledge her own husband's administration, without having an actual war, sent more soldiers to death during his presidency, and is on record of forcing the military to release Osama when we actually had him detained at the time

I am not suggesting that any particular political party is necessarily right, there is a lot wrong. But, I hope that during the time between now and November, that intelligent Americans can decipher the facts from the spin and the spinners from the leaders; those who seek even more power from those that seek justice, the dividers from the uniters. Over the next months let's be good listeners and see and hear who really tries to divide our nation; and who wants to unite our nation. Who wants to control how our money is spent and who wants our money spent the way we would spend it. Who seeks power and who seeks justice? Who spins the facts and who is genuine. (Very few are on both sides.)

The above statistics are published by Congressional Research Service, and they may be confirmed by anyone at:

First Look At Newly Printed Currency

Thanks to TD who forwards to us this “news.”

(Washington, D.ump C.ongress) Given what's happening with the US economy these days, the Treasury Department has issued a new one dollar bill . . .

. . . oh my God!

I would favor opposing any more bailouts of financial institutions. It seems that the Bush Administration has lost its way. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson should be fired for his insistence on "saving" financial institutions and even funding community agitator organizations like Acorn at taxpayers expense.

The economy should endure whatever befalls it. We should have a more long-term view of the economy than a succession of short-term fixes that really benefit Paulson and his cronies. The liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans should be voted out of office for their complicity in this financial debacle. They are the ones who pushed the idea of opening up lending to the unqualified. Would someone step forward and be accountable?

The major reason for our financial woes is our unrepentent attitude to violate God-given principles that urge us to stay out of debt. We ignore this mandate nationally and individually and wonder why we have financial troubles. Even atheistic, Communist China follows these injunctions more than we do.

Pulpit Freedom Sunday 9/28/08

Righting First Amendment Wrongs

I received an email from KC today reminding me of an event upcoming this Sunday where participating pastors will exercise their First Amendment right to speak on positions of electoral candidates. Below is a piece that was posted on the ADF which describes this event.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Pastors participating in the Alliance Defense Fund’s “Pulpit Freedom Sunday” will preach from their pulpits Sept. 28 about the moral qualifications of candidates seeking political office. The pastors will exercise their First Amendment right to preach on the subject, despite federal tax regulations that prohibit intervening or participating in a political campaign.

“Pastors have a right to speak about Biblical truths from the pulpit without fear of punishment. No one should be able to use the government to intimidate pastors into giving up their constitutional rights,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Erik Stanley. “If you have a concern about pastors speaking about electoral candidates from the pulpit, ask yourself this: should the church decide that question, or should the IRS?”

Pulpit Freedom Sunday is an event associated with the ADF Pulpit Initiative (
www.telladf.org/church), a legal effort designed to secure the First Amendment rights of pastors in the pulpit. A document explaining what the Pulpit Initiative is and is not is available at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/WhatIsPI.pdf.

ADF is not trying to get politics into the pulpit. Churches can decide for themselves that they either do or don’t want their pastors to speak about electoral candidates. The point of the Pulpit Initiative is very
simple: the IRS should not be the one making the decision by threatening to revoke a church’s tax-exempt status. We need to get the government out of the pulpit,” said Stanley.

Stanley explained that, contrary to the misunderstandings of many, tax-exempt status is not a “gift” or “subsidy” bestowed by the government.

“Churches were completely free to preach about candidates from the day that the Constitution was ratified in 1788 until 1954. That’s when the unconstitutional rule known as the ‘Johnson Amendment’ was enacted,” explained Stanley. “Churches are exempt from taxation under the principle that there is no surer way to destroy religion than
to begin taxing it. As the U.S. Supreme Court has noted, the power to tax involves the power to destroy. The real effect of the Johnson Amendment is that pastors are muzzled for fear of investigation by the IRS.”

After Sept. 28, ADF plans to provide via news release a list of pastors who participated in Pulpit Freedom Sunday.

It is very interesting that for years liberal black churches have preached political oriented messages unfettered. However, conservative Christian churches have essentially been silenced by the ACLU threats and intimidation. A few months ago I happened to be listening to a black preacher ranting eloquent about supporting Barack “the Messiah” Obama. You never hear any mention or condemnation of black churches or liberal black preachers pontificating, praising or extolling politically correct liberal candidate. The politically correct candidates can even “preach” on Sunday mornings his or her Monday morning stump speech.

What the ADF is doing here is leveling the playing field for conservative Christians, as well as reversing the damage down to this country by Lyndon “bane” Johnson.

Quess Who I Am?

Planned Parenthood Must Go

Hear Their Cry

The following is a poem, which Dr. Alveda King recited at the Values Voters Summit in Washington D.C. a few weeks ago. It captures the same civil rights spirit of her late uncle, Martin L. King, Jr. Baby-killing is worse than slavery. Abortion is a moral issue, it is not a political issue.

Planned Parenthood Must Go

Oh, oh, oh, the voices of life have been misunderstood
We’ve been lied to and cheated by Planned Parenthood.

Yes, the people are hungry and gas is too high,
But in the name of all justice, do the young have to die?

We fight for our freedom, for our civil rights,
Yet our babies are dying, who turned out their lights?

Justice and freedom for one and for all,
A person is a person no matter how small.

How could Sanger deceive us and lead us to kill?
Oh, the millions of babies, yes she kills us with skill.

Claims of healthy abortions is part of their game
But no matter their rhetoric, the results are the same

Though Sanger has died, her killing legacy lives on
50 million and counting, oh friends something is wrong

Planned Parenthood promises are laced with deceit
How they lure you with hope and then deal you defeat

Let’s help kill black babies and make them seem good
Yet the message of life remains misunderstood

How can murdering heal you? It brings only pain
Then Planned Parenthood leaves you alone, sad, and in chains

Friends the victory and freedom will come when you see
The baby has rights to life, love and liberty

Yes, the victory and freedom will come when you know
If our babies will live, then Planned Parenthood must go

Target black babies, tell lies, yes they do
Planned Parenthood is racist, oh God, it is true

Pray for God’s mercy, His love and His grace,
That the blood of His Son will heal the human race

2 States, 40 days to Save the Babies

Hear Their Cry

Two states have two important ballot issues this Fall. If they pass, they have the potential to shake the foundations of Roe v. Wade. The pro-death abortion enterprise, radical feminist, and leftist political establishment know and fear this. They are pumping great effort and resources into defeating these very noble efforts to right the tortuous wrongs precipitated by the wayward courts of our land. You can get a feel of the valiant and intense efforts on the part of pro-life people in Colorado and South Dakota to stop the senseless, needless, atrocious killing of innocent American babies.

Replacing Ohio's Ralph Regula, Make Kirk Schuring (R OH-16) A Sure Thing

For a Conservative Congress (U.S. House), Part 10

Congress.

J. Kirk Schuring

Replace a Regula guy with a Sure Thing!

THE RACE

RealClearPolitics.com identifies this race (Ohio 16) as one of the top 10 races in the country this November to watch for its competitiveness. Why, because it is an open seat with Ralph Regula (R) retiring after 36 years in office. Rep. Regula's retirement could mean the end of Republican rule of the Canton-based district. While the seat leans Republican, the well-financed and highly-touted moderate state Sen. John Boccieri (D) is well-positioned against fellow state Sen. Kirk Schuring (R).

In examining Senator Schuring’s website the three issues that stand out to me are his position on energy, pro-life and pro-traditional marriage. To be fair, it seems like his opponent is not typical of the left wing radically influenced Democrat as seems so typical. The Democrat, can you believe it, espouses and even votes American values like a vote against partial-birth abortions. Wow, that IS unusual.

THE RATING

Both Schuring and Boccieri are Ohio State Senators. From the research I was able to do, it appears that Sen. Schuring is a bit more conservative, especially on energy and immigration issues than is his opponent, who considered by some as being moderate. A truly moderate Democrat seems to be more and more of a rarity in the unexplainable success of radical liberals such as Barack Hussein Obama, Joe Biden on the national level and Senator Sherrod Brown, Representative Dennis Kucinich, and Governor Ted Strickland on the state level.

THE REALITIES

This contest will be close. The national Democratic Party smells blood and Dem friendly PACs are pouring money into this race. Because of the money factor and because of the moderate (at least before being elected) positions of the Democratic candidate, this will be a close fight. It will be important for conservatives in congress to have this seat.

THE RESOURCES

To support Senator Kirk Schuring, see his
website to learn more about him, to make a campaign contribution, to volunteer your service.

Obama's Fair Game, Prize Winner

Obama feeding at the trough

A Henry Payne cartoon found on TownHall.com 9/22/08

OpenSecrets.org had the following piece on its website titled, "Update: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Invest in Lawmakers" written by Lindsay Renick Mayer on September 11, 2008:

"When the federal government announced two months ago that it would prop up mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, CRP looked at how much money members of Congress had collected since 1989 from the companies. On Sunday the government completely took over the two government-sponsored enterprises, and we've returned to our data to bring you the updates, this time providing a list of all 354 lawmakers who have gotten money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (in July we posted the top 25). These totals are based on data released electronically from the FEC on Sept. 2 and include contributions to lawmakers' leadership PACs and candidate committees from the floundering companies' PACs and employees. Current members of Congress have received a total of $4.8 million from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, with Democrats collecting 57 percent of that. This week we also wrote about how much money lawmakers had invested of their own money in the companies last year--a total of up to $1.7 million."

Barack Hussein Obama received over $120,000 from individuals employed at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The same people who personally profited from their involvement in these companies and who contributed to their financial collapse now work for the Obama campaign. Is this the team that will be leading America out of its financial crisis? I don't think so.

Michelle Malkin reported John McCain's quote on this matter:

“Senator Obama talks a tough game on the financial markets but the facts tell a different story. He took more money from Fannie and Freddie than any Senator but the Democratic chairman of the committee that regulates them. He put Fannie Mae’s CEO who helped create this disaster in charge of finding his Vice President. Fannie’s former General Counsel is a senior advisor to his campaign. Whose side do you think he is on? When I pushed legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Senator Obama was silent. He didn’t lift a hand to avert this crisis.”

Colorado Needs A Conservative Senator, Elect Bob Schaffer

For a Conservative Congress. Part 9

Congress.

Mark Udall .............. Bob Schaffer

THE RACE

The next race that we will highlight is Colorado’s seat in the United States Senate. In early January 2007, incumbent Senator Wayne Allard (R) announced he would not seek re-election, honoring his pledge to serve no more than two terms. This is quite admirable in the days of the Edward Kennedys and Joe Bidens of the world who seem to be elected Senator’s for life.

I suggest that all conservatives in Colorado and elsewhere support former Representative Bob Schaffer, Republican candidate to replace retiring Sen. Allred.

Former Representative Bob Schaffer is the Republican nominee.

The Democratic nominee is 2nd district Congressman Mark Udall.

The American Constitution Party’s nominee is Douglas "Dayhorse" Campbell.

THE RATING

Schaffer is rated as a hard-core conservative and his opponent, Rep. Udall is rated as a hard-core liberal at OnTheIssues.com.

Udall “boasts” a 100% rating by the pro-homosexual advocacy misnamed group Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and a 100% rating by the pro-abortion industry organization NARAL.

This will be another very interesting election to follow. This election offers an even wider divergence of candidates and the issues than does the Presidential election where we have an extreme, hard-core liberal (Obama) versus a moderate-liberal (McCain).

THE REALITIES

According to the latest Rasmussen survey in the state shows Democrat Mark Udall leading Republican Bob Schaffer by 7 or 8 percentage points. The Democrats are putting their big guns, big effort and big money into defeating this staunch conservative. Schaffer and his ilk is much needed in the Senate today They even resorted to deceit, imagine that! The website “BobSchafferOnTheIssues.com” is supposedly a very unfunny parody. I could hear the blasts of the Democratic attack machine working for all it has to capture this vulnerable Republican held seat.

THE RESOURCES

To support Congressman Bob Schaffer, which I urge you to do, see his website,

What's the Score?

It is all tied up

Jerry Holbert cartoon found on TownHall.com 9/20/08

Matt, What Are You Thinking? Part 2

First, I do not agree with all of the things that Sam stated in his comments to you and to your article.

Second, I would not want you to stop writing for this blog. I do not think that Sam would want you to stop either. You bring a different perspective. We all bring our own points of view to the discussion. We do not have to agree on everything. I knew that you were not a supporter of the War in Iraq. However, to me that is not the most major issue America faces. It is the continued atrocity of abortion and the protection and preservation of one-man and one-woman marriage. Those two issues are of paramount importance. On these we all would agree. That is what is critical to me.

Third, I tend to agree with you on McCain. I think that both Obama and McCain would make poor, even bad presidents. Right now, a month-and-one-half away from the elections I would not vote for McCain either. Sam says he would, given the options. I can’t say either one of you is 100% correct. We have to do what we individually feel is right.

I looked up Ron Paul’s votepact.com alternative that you suggested. I think it is a good idea in theory. However, I agree with President Ronald Reagan approach regarding nuclear arms reduction agreements – trust, but verify. That would be the problem, agreeing with a Democrat to both vote third party, but having him or her do something different in the voting booth is my concern. I am still wrestling with the issue of whom, if anyone, I will vote for President in November.

Actions, Pictures Speak Louder Than Words

TD sends these timely pictures demonstration a bit of the differences between the two main contenders for the presidency of the United States of America. I am no McCain supporter, but the difference between the two is a chasm. Both would make poor presidents. Yet, one (Obama) would make an even worse dictator. Senator Obama, you are no superman. You are merely a media creation. Your persona, your hope and your change are all hype.

Matt, What are you thinking? Part 1

You sure had me fooled. I thought you were a Christian. Your politics, as expressed in your article Third Party Candidates Unite,” appears to be expressing something other than a Biblical worldview. Which is it: Biblical or unbiblical?

You lump Obama/Biden with McCain/Palin. There is a difference. Be assured I am not a fan of McCain.

Regarding John McCain, are you aware that he was a prisoner of war 5.5 years in North Vietnam. He was beaten and tortured and refused to take early release when offered for being an Admirals son. He gave the President the impetus for winning the war in Iraq. I was impressed with how he chose his V.P. running mate. He had everyone thinking it was anyone but Sarah. He outfoxed Obama. He will make a good Commander and Chief. He is pro-life. He understands the need to contain Russia.

Sarah Palin is a godly woman. She is a Bible believing, faith filled, born-again Christian. She is pro-life, budget cutting, and doesn’t believe in this global warming stupidity. She has more executive experience that all the other three candidates put together.

Barack Hussein Obama is for abortion at any time and if the child survives the abortion attempt: kill it. Hussein is for homosexuality and will use the bully pulpit of the Presidency to promote homosexuality. He would leave the people in Iraq to the mercy of the terrorists by pulling out American forces before the Iraqi people would be able to adequately defend themselves. He wants to cut the armed forces to one tenth its current size and have a civilian military the size of our current armed forces. Who do you think the civilian militants would be used against? He wants a block by block change in the United States. What do you think he will do block by block? He is a thug who would intimidate the citizens of this country and brainwash the youth to believe in communism. He made a slip of the tongue saying he was a Moslem. Actually he is a Communist Moslem.

Joe Biden is consistently in error on any foreign policy. He favors abortion and homosexuality.

The Independent Candidates

I do not see where their foreign policy is any different than B. Hussein Obama’s foreign policy. They all have a policy which if followed will lead to the hostile take over of the United States by its enemies. Jesus gave the parable where a King with 10,000 troops has another King marching on him with 20,000 troops. So he takes counsel whether he with 10,000 can defeat the King with 20,000. If he believes he cannot win an armed conflict then he sends a delegation to find the terms of peace. In other words: talking is for losers. Armed conflict is for victors. These Independent Candidates and B.H.O. & J.B. are all a bunch of losers attempting to lead America into defeat as Commander-In-Chief.

These candidates are against Jesus Christ, free speech, freedom of religion, and in favor of abortion and homosexuality along with confiscating our earnings and property and rights to self-defense.

Matt, do you approve of them, the third party candidates who are mostly worse than McCain? Are you double minded? One of the two will be elected, either Obama or McCain, even Teddy Roosevelt couldn’t win running as a third party candidate.

I encourage you to You need to spend more time in God’s Word getting your thinking straight.

Love, Samuel

P.S. Matt:

The freedoms you now enjoy are those left after many have been taken away. You have not done anything to obtain them. They were paid for by the blood of people in years gone by. By the work and sacrifice of many who have lived before either one of us. Is it right to deny these same rights to those who do not have them? Should not those in Iraq be a free people as well as us? Is it wrong to free people under tyranny? Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his friend”. In this case we are not laying down our lives for our friends but our neighbors. If you are not willing to help others to be free then how can you deserve to be free yourself? If everyone thinks like you think, your freedoms will soon be taken away.

P.P.S., Matt:

Don’t you realize that to whom much is given much is required? Being a Super-Power does not come from the ability of the people of this nation but it comes from blessings of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Therefore, we have a duty to uphold righteousness in this world.

Confronting Aliens

Speaking of aliens, there are at least three kinds: from outer space, Mexico and Chicago. See the cartoon below:

"Obama meets 'bitter' America!" cartoon by John Cole found on GOPUSA.org

Obama and McCain: Amnesty Insanity

An Amnesty Free-For-All (Illegal Aliens)

The following is an excerpt I received today from the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps PAC. It shines the spotlight on the two major presidential candidates. Both want to see amnesty, contrary to the wishes of the American people.

Obama and McCain are pursuing the Hispanic (illegal?) vote faster than the U.S. Border Patrol can chase down illegal aliens crossing the border. Both are claiming to have "stood up" and to have "spoke out" to get AMNESTY for all illegals. They need to take notice and listen to the law of the land in McCain's home state of Arizona, which a federal appeals court says must be enforced. We do not need another President who ignores the law and refuses to enforce immigration controls and secure the border.

APPEALS COURT UPHOLD ARIZONA IMMIGRATION LAW

AP reports that a federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld an Arizona law that penalizes businesses who knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and that requires them to verify the employment status of their workers.

"The law makes sense and is intended to lessen the “economic incentive for immigrants to sneak into our country, imposing civil penalties on employers by suspending or revoking their business licenses when they are found to have knowingly hired illegal immigrants.

“Lawyers for the state argued that while a similar federal hiring law prevents states from imposing civil or criminal penalties against businesses for illegal hirings, the federal law lets states take licensing actions against violators. The appellate court agreed with that argument.

“. . .Both McCain and Obama are talking out of both sides of their mouths. They don't want the American people to really know where each stands on these issues – they are too busy trolling for illicit votes! . . ."

There is not much of a difference between Obama and McCain on this issue. They both are very very wrong.

H.R. 3010 – The Windfall for Planned Parenthood

For six consecutive years, the Republican Party controlled the White House, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and seven out of nine Supreme Court justices were appointed by Republican presidents. Yet during that time, no progress was made towards overturning Roe v Wade.

But it’s much worse than that. Federal funding for Planned Parenthood actually increased during that time! You may remember during that time that Dr. D. James Kennedy, Jay Sekulow, and many others urged you to call your congressmen and senators to put a stop to this. But they never mention the names of the congressmen and senators who voted for the bill or bills which resulted in the increase in funding. Have you ever wondered who is responsible for this?

The bill is H.R. 3010 of the 109th congressional session. It is a DHHS (Department of Hell and inHumane Services) appropriations bill. Its full title is Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2006. The bill says that the appropriated funds can’t be used for abortions (Title V section 507 (a)), but then exceptions to the exception are mentioned in section 508.

The exceptions are:

1. If the pregnancy resulted from rape or incest.
2. If ANY physician says that the woman’s life is in danger for reasons which include “physical disorder, physical injury, or physical illness”.

The first loophole is intolerable, but the second one is big enough to allow any abortion to be funded. All Planned Parenthood has to do is get one physician to say that the woman’s life is in danger and they can fund the abortion. But there is yet another loophole in H.R. 3010. Chemical abortions are not considered “abortions”. Chemically abortifacient birth control and contraception for unmarried singles including adolescents is funded without restriction (even over the objections of their parents) under this bill. Read more here.

Clearly, any senator or congressman who voted for this legislation is not just in favor of legalizing sinful behavior, but has no qualms whatsoever about using taxpayer’s money to actually promote sinful behavior (both murder and fornication).

John McCain is one of the senators who voted for this bill.
Look at the roll call if you don’t believe me. Even Sam Brownback, who criticized President Bush’s compromise on embryonic stem cell research, voted for this bill! What a hypocrite! Even among the three senators who voted against the bill, it doesn’t seem like abortion was the reason that they voted against it. Ensign is a rape-and-incest exceptions Republican and Conrad is total pro-abort Democrat. Maybe Inhofe was the only one with a conscience in the Senate at that time.

As for the congressmen, so-called pro-lifers Duncan Hunter, Mike Pence, and Steve Chabot voted for this bill. While true pro-lifer Ron Paul voted against it, so did pro-aborts Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Ted Strickland, and Cynthia McKinney (I guess because the bill did not provide enough funds for murder). Tom Tancredo also voted against it. Click here to see how your 2005-2006 congressman voted.

Last but not least, the biggest pro-abort of all, President Bush, signed this filthy and murderous piece of legislation into law.

Elect Mayor Lou Barletta (R, PA-11) To Congress

For a Conservative Congress, Part 8

This will be part of an on-going series, which will identify key races where we either need to retain strong conservatives or to elect strong conservatives. My personal feeling with being faced with two inferior candidates for President offered by our major political parties, we must turn our attention to insuring more conservative American-values oriented persons are elected to the U.S. Congress.

Cleaning House in Pennsylvania

Mayor Lou Barletta

THE RACE

Previously we commented on the need to defeat John Murtha, staying in Pennsylvania we turn from the 12th to the 11th congressional district. I suggest that all conservatives in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Congressional District 11 and elsewhere support Mayor Lou Barletta, Republican challenger to the incumbent Rep. Paul Kanjorski.

Mayor Barletta espouses a strong pro-life and an is for reigning in of the illegal alien problem. Barletta would be an antidote to Rep. Kanjorski's growing leftist leanings on a far range of issues.

THE RATING

Lou Barletta is one of the key candidates for Congress this year. He will fight to secure the nation's borders. This is especially important, since Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) is retiring from Congress after this year. Lou Barletta, is the courageous Mayor of Hazleton who boldly stood up to the threat illegal aliens presented in his town: higher costs for social services, health care and public schools and opportunities stolen from American citizens. He gained a measure of national attention for his efforts. He would be a candidate to possibly replace not only Rep. Kanjorski but also Tancredo as a champion on the important illegal immigration and lax national border issue.

Congressman Kanjorski is rated as a Liberal Populist on

According to On the Issues dot com Kanjorski, has been in Washington for more than a quarter century and been one of the strongest supporters of the illegal alien lobby anywhere in Congress. Kanjorski supports Guest Worker Amnesty for Illegal Aliens. Kanjorski believes our tax dollars should pay for government services for illegal aliens. Kanjorski even thinks illegal aliens should receive taxpayer subsidies to go to college.

According to an email I received from the Minutemen HQ, which monitor and advocate for secure borders and a strong stance on stopping the invasion of illegal aliens, they said that what has made this race competitive is a scandal where Kanjorski was caught funneling federal tax dollars to his relatives! In this hard-working district of conservative blue collar families, that doesn’t go over well.

THE REALITIES

Lou Barletta has a real chance of beating this entrenched 12 term congressman, who has gradually morphed from being moderate to becoming a radical leftist in his views and positions.

According to the September 17, 2008 Scranton (PA) Times article posted on Barletta’s website:

“. . . Barletta has opened a substantial lead over U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski in their battle to represent Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and other local municipalities in Congress, according to a Franklin & Marshall College/Times-Shamrock Newspapers poll.

”In a survey of 547 registered voters, Mr. Barletta had the support of 44 percent to 35 percent for Mr. Kanjorski, a Democrat, in their 11th Congressional District race. Another 21 percent were undecided.

“The poll is the clearest independent confirmation that Mr. Kanjorski’s re-election is seriously at risk in a year most political experts expect Democrats to do most of the winning.

“The poll confirmed Mr. Kanjorski faces by far the stiffest re-election test of his 12-term congressional career from Hazleton’s anti-illegal-immigration crusading mayor.”

According to RealClearPolitics.com, Barletta’s opponent, Kanjorski, negatives include: “Ethics issues, questionable earmarks and an unremarkable record, coupled with a near-celebrity opponent, put Rep. Paul Kanjorski atop national Republicans' target list. Kanjorski hasn't faced a real race in decades, and John McCain is likely to win the Scranton-based district, aiding Mayor Lou Barletta. It's one race in which the "change" mantra may benefit Republicans.

THE RESOURCES

The DCCC is pouring great amounts of money to prop up Kanjorski and to help retain this unresponsive and wayward representative. Barletta really needs the support of conservatives everywhere. To support Mayor Lou Barletta, which I urge you to do, see his website to learn more about him, to make a campaign contribution, to volunteer your service, etc.

Third Party Candidates Unite part 2

This is a response to the comment made on my recent post entitled “Third Party Candidates Unite”. This is Greg’s comment (abbreviated):

Matthew, Matthew -I can't believe you wrote, "...I don’t endorse any of them either, but I would rather have any of them as president than either of the two republicrats." Are you serious, my friend? Did you really mean to say that you would rather have hard-core liberals [who favor abortion and homosexual "rights"] C. McKinney or R. Nader as President than either the Democrat, who himself is a hard-core liberal - I can understand that - the three are three peas in a pod, but to prefer them over Republican McCain? That is a little too much for me.. . . I would never want either Obama, McKinney or Nader - and their pro-death, pro-homosexual agenda which to me - transcends any other issue - the war, immigration, education, the economy or anything else.

To say “I would rather have…” is presumptuous and irrelevant because God in His infinite wisdom knows better than I what would be best, especially when it comes to choosing between those who are far out of his will. God knows what will happen in the future and we don’t know who will repent and who won’t. But this does not mean that we are left without guide as to how we should vote. We need to pay attention to ALL of what the Bible says.

In light of the fact that McCain voted no on ENDA and hate crimes legislation, and voted yes on DOMA, I would say that you have a valid point. (I think I am safe assuming that both Nader and McKinney take the opposite position on these issues.) One of the most important principles in my political philosophy is that government should not do anything that encourages sinful behavior. But one should consider that murdering babies and sodomy are not the only two sins that governments encourage.

I would make three important counterpoints:

1. McCain has stated that he supports same-sex civil unions (gay marriage by another name).

2. McCain voted for embryonic stem cell research (not just legalizing it, but forcing taxpayers to pay for it), has stated that he believes that abortion should be legal in cases of rape and incest, personally sued the Wisconsin Right-to-Life, and was a member of the gang of 14. Furthermore, (and this one takes the cake) McCain did vote to increase Title X funds for healthcare organizations with no exclusion for abortion providers and Bush did sign it into law, resulting in more millions going to Planned Parenthood which they can legally use for abortions under this legislation. (I go into depth about this in an accompanying post.) The only way that he could be more pro-abortion is if he voted with Obama on the Born Alive Act (and I don’t know where Nader and McKinney stand on that one).

3. The four principles on which the four third party candidates agreed on are not insignificant issues from a biblical standpoint.

a) The Foreign Policy principle is consistent with teachings of Christ that we should try to make peace with other nations. Our current policy, which McCain supports, encourages the killing of innocent civilians. The lives our soldiers and the Iraq people are just as precious in God’s eyes as an unborn child. In reference to Babylon (which is modern day Iraq), Revelation 18:4 says, “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

b) The Privacy principle is not quite as important as the others, but at least this is a case where the Republican establishment has no respect for the Constitution. This violates the Biblical principle that one should obey the laws of the land.

c) The National Debt issue is also an important one. Passing debt onto future generations is a form of theft, which violates the Ten Commandments. Clearly, theft is not just armed robbery, but Jesus demonstrated that cheating people is just as bad and should not be tolerated. (Remember the moneychangers?)

d) The Federal Reserve issue is the same principle as the National Debt. Anyone who helps to perpetrate this fraud is guilty of theft.

I am not saying that people should vote for Nader or McKinney and neither is Ron Paul. I think that it would be FAR better for someone to not vote at all than to vote for Nader or McKinney. But the fact that they at least have taken a correct stand on the four principles is noteworthy and a step in right direction. I still support the idea put forth by votepact.org to get people to not vote for either Obama or McCain. I think it is worthwhile to ask people to take a look at what each of “the four” have to say just for the sake of hearing a different side than what the news media is presenting. Note that Congressman Paul CANNOT endorse Baldwin or Barr under Republican Party rules because they are running against a Republican.

Ron Paul is the type of person who will reach out to people to find common ground and work for good. But there is very little common ground between him and McCain/Obama. Some McKinney supporters actually crossed over and voted for RP in the primary and his influence on their supporters can’t be overlooked. His message that government involvement in the environment issue is part of the problem resonates with some in this group. A person who speaks against the government’s over-involvement in marriage and the classification of people by race, birth status (born or unborn), and sexual orientation will also resonate better with the Nader/McKinney crowd than some warmongering, pro-life-with-exceptions guy saying ban gay marriage and get rid of affirmative action. I do think that RP should be careful not to get too cozy with these two, and perhaps the title of this article is inappropriate. It is tempting to side with anybody who opposes the establishment, especially when progress can be made on ballot access and debate access issues.

Ralph Nader did co-found an excellent consumer advocacy organization, The Public Citizen, which informs people of various problems with various products such as pharmaceuticals (Worst Pills, Best Pills). Nader should stick to informing people in this way about these issues instead advocating over-regulation against them, so that people can still make their own choices. Both Nader/McKinney would have to repent of their positions on abortion and homosexuality before I could even think about endorsing them. If they are listening to what Ron Paul is saying, I wouldn’t underestimate the chances of that happening. (I am not holding my breath on that one, though.)

I could even vote for McCain or Obama if they would repent. But they have much, much more to repent of (I haven’t mentioned the half of it on this post). For an example of the type of repentance statement that I would be looking for, click here. But saying that you’re for same-sex civil unions and then saying that you’re against them in the same interview, doesn’t cut it with me. I am done with arguing over who is the worst among candidates that we both know that we are not going to vote for anyway. Such arguing is fruitless and we would be better off getting back to talking about candidates that we support or might support. This post is getting too long, so I’ll discuss Baldwin and Barr later.

The Catholic Vote

The Northeast Ohio Values Voters sent me an email containing this powerful video. This is not your Nancy Pelosi or Joe Biden or Edward Kennedy version of the Catholic voter. Watch the video by

I am not a Catholic, but Life, Faith and Family are key issues for me, too, in this election as in all elections.

Is Sarah Palin Qualified to be VP?

I received an email from the Northeast Ohio Value Voters and they provided the following link to a 10-second poll from PBS. I took it just now.

Anyone answering other than affirmatively condemns Senator Barack Hussein Obama, whose experience literally pales in comparison to that of Governor Sarah Palin! Too bad she is not at the top of the ticket.

Jerry Wright is Really Wrong

“An editorial in Salon Magazine claims that Sarah Palin’s church is extreme, while Barack Obama’s church is not.

“Yeah, because to the main stream media (MSM), any church that doesn’t preach hatred of America is considered extreme”
