The People, the Government, the Bible, and the Mess We’re In Part 1

WARNING: THIS BLOG POST IS NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT. IT MAY BE PERCEIVED BY SOME AS ANTI-FEMINISTS, HOMOPHOBIC, ISLAMAPHOBIC, AND/OR BIGOTED.  HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT THE INTENT OF THIS ARTCLE. THE INTENT IS TO SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE.

Hat tip goes to fellow blogger, Sam, who shared with me what he recently read in the book Our Christian Heritage, which tells about Bible translator and Christian martyr John Wycliffe. He lived from 1324 to December 31, 1384. This is what he wrote in the flyleaf of his Bible:

“This Bible is translated and shall make possible a Government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
A FIRM FOUNDATION
If that phrase sounds familiar, it was borrowed by President Abraham Lincoln and used in his famous Gettysburg Address.
Here is a little more information about Wycliffe according to GreatSite.com,
John Wycliffe was a theologian and early proponent of reform in the Roman Catholic Church during the 14th century. He initiated the first translation of the Bible into the English language and is considered the main precursor of the Protestant Reformation.”
Wycliffe was burned at the stake for his ‘heretical’ position that the Bible should be in the hands of the common people, and not the exclusive domain of the clergy elite…
In looking at the first quote above, used by Lincoln, we can see its usefulness and application to the present day. There is a definite correlation between an effective, just, God-honoring government, and an engaged, God-fearing, responsible, patriotic, free citizenry and the acceptance of, the application of, and obedience to the principles and precepts outlined in the Judeo-Christian Bible. Encapsulated, it is: good government and a good people following the Good Book. It’s not complicated. Why do you think we have been an exceptional nation, blessed richly by God?
THE FOUNDATION FORSAKEN
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” – John Adams

Is this why the left of this country wants to reject or to revise it? Is this why the courts try to circumvent it?

How far we have strayed from the nation our founding fathers established! As we, the people and our democratic republican government, stray further and further from the principles and precepts of God’s timeless truths, we fall victim to the world’s corrupt system and its ungodly atheistic secular humanistic worldview.

In Part 2 we will explore five areas – Debt, Marriage, Life, Islamism, and Education - in which we have deviated and, thereby, nearly abandoned all sound reason, principles, and philosophy.
To be continued
